Scott (Colorado Springs (will be in Cali on Saturday))
I think it was just karma for Nelson, he should have been playing better defense on fisher in regulation and since he didn't get got elbowed in the mouth. Then as he laid there trying to get the refs to call a foul, Fisher hits another three.
slow moe44@hotmail.com (Bridgeport,Connecticut)
The Magic ran out of Magic, they should sprinkle some magic dust on their foul shooting, they would of won the4 game, incredible
Chuck Martin (Olympia Fields)
derrick fisher shot was great but that didn't win the game! Why is no one talking about the elbow Kobe hit jameer with for the second shot? Obvious offensive foul, or the elbow to howard with no call?
James (NJ)
Yes the Lakers are up 3-1 but the you can't just throw away the Magic. They are a missed Layup and Missed FT (only needed one) from being up 3-1.
Andrew Randle (Memphis, TN)
As I was watching game 4 of the Finals, all I can remember myself yelling was, "GET DWIGHT THE BALL!!!!" He was running the floor getting excellent position on Pau or whoever, and players like Hedo and Rafer would still not get him the ball. Do you think that played a part in them giving away game 4, along with poor free throw shooting?
Massa Stu (San Antonio, Tx)
the more offensive the magic the more successfull they will be, come on disney boys get rid of the stage fright and play some hoop baby and just win!!!!!!!!!
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
Good morning guys, love the show, and I can't WAIT to hear what Skip says about the Finals game ((rolls eyes))
Kyle McEntire (Springfield,Mo)
basketball just continue to get more and more biased and I personally am starting to lose interest.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
That was an embarrassing defensive effort both physicallyb and mentally last night in the final seconds for the Magic.
Drew (Arkansas)
Good morning, Little Rock was watching Derek Fisher last night and man were those two shots big.
Kyle McEntire (Springfield,Mo)
How do you spell bias? R-E-F-S
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Hey good Casual Dress Friday morning First Take crew. I'm so disinterested in the NBA Playoffs that I forgot they were playing last night.
Scott (Colorado Springs)
The Magic just fell apart in game 4. Free throws, defense, turn over?s, flagrant fouls(he should be suspended for next game). They are finished.
Tim (Winsted Ct)
The magic got robbed yes they didnt play good defense but that was defintly a foul on kobe when he elbowed nelson in the face butu it was kobe so they let it go.
Daniel (Houston)
How can Van Gundy say that experience is not important, that is like saying that learning from your mistakes is cliche'. I bet that Nelson will use the "experience" that he got from last game and he will never leave a clutch three point shooter like Fisher open again. Experience is about composure, and the magic have none.
Umor (Detroit)
And why didn't they foul fisher as soon as he got the ball.
Jeremy (New Orleans)
Ok stop it with the whole Ref bias thing. They were clearly letting them play and not calling many fouls it was like that the whole game and im glad they did not call it. Its just like an umpires strike zone if its consistent its fair, make your free throws and stop your whining.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
John Denton is right...between Lee's missed lay up and the sad effort in the last 30 seconds last night, the Magic could easily be up 3-1...but you have to earn it and they have not made the plays.
slow moe44@hotmail.com (Bridgeport,Connecticut)
the elbow kobe hit nelson with was good, kobe tryed to create space, nelson rushed in,and got stung by the black mumbra
Carl (IL)
Sadly the finals are never better than the conference finals (imo) but I choose to actually watch this time around and of course the Lakers go up 3-1 and now my favorite team atm is staring down elimination :(
Tom (River North)
There's no way Pietrus should be suspended for the flagrant foul. Fined? Yes.
Sara (Michigan)
Cant wait to hear skip go off on the magic!
Umor (Detroit)
Morning All. Dang Howard blowing his free throws at the end. I Bet Skip gonna say Howard pulled a lebron.
Derek (Washington, DC)
with the Lakers up 3-1 and 2 of last 3 games in LA, is there any point in even watching the rest of the NBA Finals?
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Rafer should have been in on Derek Fisher, also Kobe fouled Jameer with the elbow. In the middle of the Dwight has to hit at least one free throw!
Joe Boots (Albany, NY)
If Skip does not tear Dwight Howard apart for crumbling under the pressure I am going to be so upset!! He would be all over LeBron if he missed even half those shots!
john (albany)
game 6's and 7's should be played AT A NEUTRAL SITE! There is no reason to put players in a dangerous situation of getting booed and death threats if they win on the road. I will feel sorry for pittsburghs security if they beat detroit
Ty (Richmond, VA)
Is Courtney Lee off the hook now that Superman choked on those free throws to clinch it?
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
Who's more to blame? Dwight and Hedo for the missed free throws? The refs for non calls? Jameer 's freebie for Fish? Or Van Gundy for not calling for the foul late?
Ty (Richmond, VA)
Why was Gasol even taking a shot at the end he deserved the hard foul
Umor (Detroit)
Pietrus was afraid to put a body on kobe at all in the fourth.
Sunny (Grand Rapids, MI)
lovin' the DH shirt
Tom (River North)
Why is Skip dressed like Stan Van Gundy?
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Can't believe this stick a fork in the Magic they are cooked.
James (Cleveland)
John Denton from florida is a clown! this series should be over if orlando would have shot anything less then 62% in game 3 kobe would have got his trophy last night.
THE_REAL_FAN (Twitter)
THE_REAL_FAN says that Game 4 was to be blamed on Dwight Howard. His missed free throws were huge. Skip Bayless, I like your style. In all honesty, you are right. They make bad plays and good plays in the same game. It is hard to predict sometimes.
Keith (Hamilton,OH)
Here's a little nickname for Skip, Stan Van GUMP! called an extremely poor defense the last play of OT. Overall the Magic just fell apart. Dwight missing free throws, poor defense including no one really guarding the 3 point shot. Lakers were dead and done and the Magic just shot themselves in the foot.
Joe Boots (Albany, NY)
Anyone else think that Stan Van Gundy is the NBA's version of Andy Reid? Always getting outcoached
James (Cleveland)
Orlando is not is not as good as all you think! If KG was playin for boston orlando never would have made it this far!
Zena (East St. Louis, IL )
The fact of the matter is, Nelson should have never been in the game to begin. Rayford Alston to me played a pretty good game and Jameer should not have been in the game during a cluth situation. To make matters worse the Lakers didn't really play all that great, so if you ask me, if the Lakers played better you have a potential blow out.
Mikey (Houston, Tx)
Why is everyone suddenly blaming the Magic for losing games 2 and 4? Let's not forget that the Lakers were second in the league, how about giving them some credit for taking advantage of the opportunities they had. Plus they didn't shoot a freethrow until OT. The Lakers rallied to win this game, and deserve the credit.
Brandon (Mandeville, LA)
hard to argue when you are up 5 with 35 seconds and can't seal the deal
Sunny (Grand Rapids, MI)
I understand that Nelson messed up on the coverage at the end but come on...you can't make him the Goat when you miss 15 free throws and refs were handing the Magic the game in the 4th and OT what was it 20 FT for Orl vs. 0 for the LA...that's the real travesty
Adam (syracuse,ny)
did Hal put a muzzle on Hank? I'm surprised we haven't seen a steinbrenner tantrum yet.
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Courtney Lee would have played great D on D Fish damnit
Umor (Detroit)
And why didn't they get the ball back to Hedo on the in bound pass in the end of the fourth.
Sean (Washington D.C.)
I think that van gundy out coached himself
Andrea (NY)
He deserved to be pushed in the back for shooting? What is this a JV game? This is the big boys and he scored to be sure they'd win. After all the crazy stuff in this series no lead is safe. Quit whining about the refs they Magic got every single call and still couldn't win. Dwight throws his body recklessly into people and doesn't get a call. There were way more missed calls in that game against the Lakers than they get in LA. Lakers play through that, the Magic blame it after they lose.
Marvin (NY)
Hahaha someone get Skip some water. You can't help but totally agree with him though.Talk about missed opportunity. Magic should have won this game and didn't.They gave away their chance at the championship, twice already.Bye Magic. I wish I had confidence in you.
Craig (n.y.)
This series was over before it started. There is no way Kobe was going to let this chance to solidify his legacy slip away. Lakers in 5(had it from the start)
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
Lee would have taken 50 moer shots and bricked like he did to start the game
Andrea (NY)
Last game Jackson got outcoached, this game Van Gundy did, it's really not about that. Its all great when you win, everything falls apart when ya lose. Get off the coaches and players people. Lakers made plays, Magic didn't. Quit stating things as if they are facts.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
It is simply disappointing the Magic played so clutch against Cleveland late and are not closing the show against the Lakers
Derek (Washington, DC)
I think it's time for Dwight Howard to call out Stan Van Gundy again, he did so against Boston and Cleveland and went 3 for 3 in games that he called out the coach. It's the Magic's only chance of making the come back. Otherwise, wake me up for the trophy presentation.
James (Cleveland)
Van Gundys a sorry coach lol didnt anybody realize that when he was in miami? Pat Riley had no problem takin that team to the finals
Sean (Washington D.C.)
Howard shot those 2 free throws like he was chunking a piece of cryptonite up too the rim
Dave (WA)
Mikey from Houston.. are you serious? The Lakers definitely won the game. But Magic LOST it more then the Lakers won it.Get real.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
I love the way the refs let them play a little last night...finally some physical playoff basketball
Andrea (NY)
Van Gundy has been a great coach, the game 2 play he drew up, I'm a Laker fan but I'll still say it. It comes down to the players not making plays. Wake up.
Umor (Detroit)
Right skip. Kobe tired but he was smart to pass off the ball.
Jessie (CT)
Jameer Nelson needs to get back onto the bench. Skips right, he's a terrible defender, and did nothing to help the Magic last night.
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
Free throwsare the difference
Jeremy (New Orleans)
Good point Zena, Jemeer took time from Anthony Johnson who was a big part in beating my Cavs. Jemeer was rushed in to playing buy "The Master Of Panic" yes I said it. I think Stan Van Gundy begged Jemeer to come back and inturn killed his teams chances.
Sunny (Grand Rapids, MI)
I love the look on Jay's face whenever Skip just says something outrageous kinda like "good lord, who is this guy? can we get someone objective in here pleaaaase!"
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
SKip come on all black are you trying to say the Magic are done
Sean (Washington D.C.)
Skip if you watched the game Kobe had to take all the shots because the other scorers was setting on the bench in foul trouble.
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
It's really cold in hell right now, I just completely agreed with Skip Bayless. What were Lee and Alston doing on the bench for Nelson, when the only way they could lose was bad perimiter defense?
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Ariza and D-Fish saved the Lakers last night....I give Kobe a 7 last night...solild start in the first and OT, other than that fairly average
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Where's the Moderator
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Adam we are in a recession everyone is making cutbacks
Pete (Chicago)
Stephen i dont know how you can give kobe a 9 he was taking terrible shots and if the magic werent so terrible he would have played the lakers right out of the game he took 4 running layups in the fourth quarter when he never takes running layups its not a 5 but its defenitly not a 9
James (Cleveland)
Andrea from NY u need to wake up! He got lucky like he did against cleveland with the uneven match ups in that serious. Hes a poor coach and as soon as orlando replaces him they will win a ring just like miami!
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Kobe made some big 3 's ! Ariza's playing for that contract amazing hustle.
Michael Kim (10:21 AM)
Good morning everyone... Gonna be tough for the Magic to live up to Skip's prediction that the Magic win in 7.
Mike Bryant (Long Island, New York)
If Kobe wins a ring this year, he would not only be the best Laker in NBA history, but also the best overall player in NBA history. Every single Laker Championship team, and all or most of all of the other championship teams in NBA history have had at least 2 All-Stars on their roster. Kobe Bryant and the Lakers just have one.
Jeremy (New Orleans)
Mod i dont know if you remember but you said you were going to get me a tv shout out. (still waiting)
Leo (Daytona Beach, FL)
Despite for the Large amount of Free Throws Missed, You Must finish game strong. Orlando and the coaching staff did not do that...
Tom (River North)
Jay, is there a a better trophy in all of sports than the Stanley Cup?
mark (arizona)
the magic are a joke. there not in the lakes leage. the magic free throwing is like lebron james....its not there
mod (10:22 AM)
Jeremy, nope, I don't remember
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
i love the Magic, but there is no way they close it out in L.A.
Justin (Huntingdon,TN)
So.. How can a coach such as Van Gundy not get the point across to his team to "not allow a three!" After such a beautiful play he drew up at the end of game two, he forgets the fundamentals and evidentally loses what little common sense he has and hands the game away.. Everyone puts so much attention on Kobe, that they seemed to totally forget about the 3rd best all-time NBA Finals 3-point shooter wide open for a three.. Anybody with half a brain knows if it takes a three to tie, DO NOT ALLOW THEM AN OPPERTUNITY FOR A THREE! It's completely unexcusable..
Jon H (Kingsport, TN)
The magic are 2 free throws away from being up 3 games to 1. The Lakers are being handed a championship when they've been outplayed in all but game 1.
Derek (Washington, DC)
I have to agree with Skip. Yes Kobe's about to win his 4th ring, but once again he's being carried in the Finals. He's been subpar at best this NBA Finals. the last 2 games he's been hot in the 1st Quarter and then phoned in the next 3. This was Kobe's year to be the leader and win one without Shaq, and he's not stepping up. He's sitting back and letting other players like Derek Fisher drive the team to the title.
Gibril (Atlanta, Ga)
You guys forgot to mention Pietrus with 4 sec left didn't pass to an open Lewis and took a bad shot. Isn't Lewis the guy you trust with the game on the line?
James (Cleveland)
Common Mike get real dude! Gasol not a allstar? Kobe has a great support cast of players and hes hasnt made it this far by himself! he will never be as good as magic!
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
Mark, not in the Lakers league? The Magic are a layup and a foul away from a 3-1 lead. C'mon guy!
Jessie (CT)
Did anyone else hear of the rumor that Boston might trade Rajon Rondo for Ricky Rubio? That's the DUMBEST trade if I've ever seen one. I mean yeah Rubio has drawn comparisons to Pistol Pete and Steve Nash, but he's got no shot. And as I've come to see it, Rondo is in the top 3 PG's of the NBA right now.
Sunny (Grand Rapids, MI)
what are they going to do when the bottom ring of Lord Stanley's Cup is filled up? They can't just keep adding rings forever
mod (10:28 AM)
Sunny, they rotate fresh rings in all the time to keep adding names...
Marvin (NY)
Andrea, people are blaming Van Gundy and the players mainly because they shot 17 free throws to Lakers' 0 and they still somehow lost. And there's the whole Jameer Nelson thing, where Alston played confidently and productively in the first half. It's regrettable to even see Nelson on the court this whole series. He's definitely not the same Nelson that played earlier in the season. So the blame on the players and SVG isn't conjecture, it practically is fact.
Feeve (Milwaukee,WI)
I guess it doesn't matter what the Lakers do, they could go back in time on the Magic School Bus, beat the "UnbeataBulls" in 6 and people will still find something to hate on like, "Kobe altered the space time continuem!!!"
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
Remember all the talk when Michigan State was in the Final Four about how "good for the people of Detroit" it was? Where's that talk for the Red Wings, I thought Detroit was "HOCKEYTOWN USA".
Andrea (NY)
Take Kobe off the Lakers and they aren't winning without him. He hasn't been as good as he usually is, but small things like defense and his assists are helping them.
James (Cleveland)
Jessie come on Rondo in the top 3? top 10 maybe! it goes more like this CP3, Nash, and Parker! lets not forget about Billups either!
Umor (Detroit)
This reminds ne of the pistons vs the celtics in the 80.s The first time they met in the finals Pistons were outplaying the celts thru the game. But in the end of the fourth. McCale or bird would steal the game in the end.
James (Cleveland)
Andrea give Orland a new headcoach and they will go into LA and take the championship
Henry (Boston)
what is skip talking about???? Kobe leaves it on the floor every night whether good or bad game.... he leaves it on the floor... he makes the extra passes.. he makes timely shots.. and snatchs rebounds from Dwight Howard... what else do you want him to do?? I guess make every shot
joseph (puerto rico)
i think kobe should get the respect he deserves, he has been non-stop since 2007, playing 4 USA, the lakers, olympics and now the lakers again making it 2 the finals back 2 back he has the right to be tired so skip back off him and don't be a hater!!!
Andrea (NY)
Marvin, I agree, his subbing has been questionable, it's hard to get a rhythm when you don't if you'll play. JJ will play 27 minutes then not play at all. Phil consistently sticks with his same rotation even if guys aren't playing well so they know the plan going into each game. But it's not all Van Gundy's fault, it's a mix.
Sara (Michigan)
kevin, i love hockey! and hate when basketball gets all the attention. its a game 7 in the finalss come on!
spanish sardine (florida)
What is Van gundy thinking on putting Nelson on the floor? I am tiered on Kobe Bryant crying to the ref's. Some one needs to slapt him on the back of the head.
Derek (Washington, DC)
why is everyone making such a huge deal out of Yankees being 0-8 against the Red Sox. Last time I checked playoffs depended on records for the overall season not just against your bitter rival. I mean the Orlando Magic swept the Lakers in the regular season, and look who's in control in the NBA Finals.
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
i agree with James(cleveland), Rondo is NOT in the top 3
Jared (Smyrna, Ga)
Mike?? Are you serious?? If it wasnt for Gasol, Ariza, and Odom playing so well this wouldnt be a series. By the way, Kobe the closer didnt close last night or game 2. It was Gasol's 7 in overtime and a collective effort last night. Kobe isnt top 10 all time.
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
Derron Williams mike kim's boy is in the discussion as well for top point guards.
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
YEAH!!!!! DH!!
Tom (River North)
Spanish, it's the NBA. They teach you how to whine to the refs after every play at the NBA draft...
Feeve (Milwaukee,WI)
If Kobe isn't TOP 10, neither is Larry Bird. Blasphemy Jared!
Mike Bryant (Long Island, New York)
im Sick and tired of hearing " a lay up and a free throw away from being up 3-1". Thats just a sorry excuse for not being able to execute in clutch moments!
Monique (Texas)
Come on Chuck how many elbows does Dwight Howard get away with every game?
Adam G (Tampa, FL)
I thought the DH shirt was the colorful one?
Jeremiah (Bolivar, NY)
Nice defensive substitution by SVG putting a long defender on all shooters. Oh no i guess he forgot to do that WHOOPS.
mark (arizona)
thank you mike. the magic blew there chance. Van gundy is a choke artist. guess he rubed that off to his players as well
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
If Dwight learns to score and puts up 30 points with his 20 rebounds and 9 blocks....aren't those Shaq and Duncanesque numbers? Arent they the difference in the game?
Maurice (Virginia)
Must win Please MR. DH this is just a small series. the Yankees still have the rest of the season. Calm down mr. panic
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
And the Magic are just a Kobe free throw or two away from being done. Big deal.
Spanish sardine (florida)
SKIP, I will like to purchase the DH shirt.
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
Mike, you're absolutely right and that's exactly why the Laker's will win this series. But you have to admit that Orlando has been competitive. Maybe with a little more experience they could have pulled at least one of those games out.
Gjon ( (Stamford, Ct))
lakers in 6 the magic are not even in their league... nobody should make excuses for orlando the bottom line is they had a chance to even it up and they choked. The lakers will celebrate at home and Kobe gets his first finals MVP
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
I love to hate Skip but sometimes he's funny and makes good points
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Jesper is the king of loud outfits
Mike Bryant (Long Island, New York)
By the way .........James (Cleveland)... I dont recall seing Pau Gasol in Arizona at this years All-Star game. As a matter of fact i remember seing a 37 year old Shaq out running the court. So technically, Kobe is THE only All-Star on the Laker roster!
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
John Daly's outfit looks ridiculous
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
am i the only person who see's dwight howard getting called for nothing.... as i said b4 hes lebron james playing center freearms, elbows and all
Johnny (Scranton, PA)
Seems like the chat is on autopilot. What happened to the Mod and First Take crew?
mod (10:51 AM)
Johnny, ever see Wizard of Oz? "Pay no attention to whats behind the curtain"
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
Who IS behind the curtain?
Andrea (NY)
What I love is how much people hate Kobe. First he couldnt' win without Shaq. Now if he does win without Shaq, well he didn't play well. It's a lose-lose for him. Get off Kobe. Sorry your team doesn't have him and isn't in the finals.
Eric (Long Island, New York)
does anyone remember Ibanez played in a pitchers park in seattle and in seattle he was the only slugger to be careful of in that lineup
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
lol...good one mod
Jeremy (New Orleans)
They should call it the NBA FINAL cuz its over. LA did good Kobe will cry like a baby with HIS tittle and D12 will wait for next year.
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
A point I heard abotu Ibanez recently is he is a gap hitter and his new dimensions inthe power alleys are 17 feet SHORTER than Seattle. good point. Explains a lot more homeruns.
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
whos ready for some football???? college or pro i dont care... i just cant wait....
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Isn't this Ibanez's first year in Philly he wants to "perform" well for the World Series champs.
Drew (Arkansas)
I like the Jersey Howie.
Umor (Detroit)
Maybe it's the pitching Ibanez seeing this year.
Gjon (Stamford Ct)
Mike from Long Island... Kobe wins he is the second greatest laker next to Magic Johnson (you can even say kareem) so idk how you think kobe is the greatest to play. The greatest to play the game is a man named Michael Jordan I honestly dont know how you see Kobe being the greatest even if he wins this ring. I love Kobe when he retires maybe he gets in the top 5.
Jay Crawford (11:04 AM)
sorry room! for the first time in 2 days i have a working laptop in the studio!
Tonawanda Toney (Buffalo,N.Y.)
Guys,DH is right on the money with this one.KB's performance was horrible,I gave him a only a 4.He was saved by his teamates, and without thier effort L.A. loses by 20.Great call skip.
Jay Crawford (11:04 AM)
love the dh reference! i hope it sticks!
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Was that Craig Sager's brother with Nick Anderson?
Jay Crawford (11:05 AM)
great one aaron!
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Jay thinks his duty is to rip the Phillies!
Jay Crawford (11:05 AM)
what i love the phillies!
Mikey (Houston, Tx)
The spirit of Nick Anderson must have knocked those freethrows off course
Umor (Detroit)
Kobe the third best Laker. Wilt 1st. Magic Second, Kareem Forth and west fifth.
Andrea (NY)
What was the DH reference?
Michael Kim (11:08 AM)
Andrea -- DH stands for "Diabolical Hater" -- the nickname given to Skip by Andre Igoudala of the 76ers.
Justin VolRebel (Oxford MS)
Shaq should be ranked higher than Kobe!!
mark (arizona)
dwight had 5 or more block shots had a whole lot of rebonds and the magic still cant win.
Gjon (Stamford Ct)
woah woah woah... im sry but is 32 8 and 7 not good stats anymore. I can't believe how you ppl are saying Kobe played horrible. He kept his team in it the start of overtime and yes he made a couple of bad decisions but he also made key plays to win. Do you honestly think that if number 24 isnt on the floor fisher gets that great a look? I dont think so... ppl need to get off kobe and give credit where credit is due
Donnie (Indy)
Kobe better than Kareem? That's hilarious.
Isaac (Atlanta)
Wilt wasn't a Laker long enough to be a 'Laker great'
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
No call was the right call on Kobe's elbow, Nelson dove in and caught
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Kobe looked like a baby flailing his elbows...Dwight looked like a baby saying..why me? Dwight needs to man up and put him on the floor.
Sunny (Grand Rapids, MI)
that elbow was not a foul
Mikey (Houston, Tx)
D-Mac is the most underrated QB in the league.
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
D.Nabb is the man and you philly fans need to stop hating
Justin VolRebel (Oxford MS)
Kobe should not even be top 10! You have and necessarily in this order. MJ, Wilt, Bill Russel, Larry, Majic, Kareem, Shaq, Karl, Oscar, Stockton, McHale, Pistol Pete,West and the list goes on how can ppl even argue for Kobe, what has he done? He is a great defender but after shaq he was an overrated AI and nothing more sorry Kobe fans he will never be considered a top five or even a top ten player all time!!
Jason (Cleveland)
Lebron averaged 40,9,9 against the magic and people on here were bashing him. They obviously don't know basketball.
Feeve (Milwaukee,WI)
The best Laker is either Kareem or Jerry West, pick one..either one.
Umor (Detroit)
Howard needs to get angry. Lakers taking away his dream. he better fight for it.
Michael Kim (11:13 AM)
I'm always surprised how much heat McNabb catches... When the guy actually had a receiving option (T.O.), they went to the Super Bowl.
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
How soon will a CFL team sign Michael Vick?
Michael Kim (11:14 AM)
Calvin - My pick is still the Cowboys. I'll believe until proven otherwise...
mark (arizona)
mcnabb is the only star on the eagles team. thats why they cant win
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
WHAT...Kobe not top 10.... CARZY!!! then behind Shaq....plz
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
Cowboyz...yea right....youve been proven otherwise these past couple years
Michael Kim (11:16 AM)
I meant Cowboys on acquiring Michael Vick NOT winning the NFC East.
Jeremy (New Orleans)
Michael Vick will sign with the New Orleans Saints BOOK IT! Sean Payton will do wonders with Vick
Calvin W (Clearwater, FL)
Michael-I say the Toronto Argonauts
Torean (Lorain, OH)
I hope Vick get's back in the league. I loved him growing up and I want to see him get a 2nd shot.
Mikey (Houston, Tx)
Al Davis will take anybody these days. I say Vick is gonna be a Raider
Torean (Lorain, OH)
I don't think Vick will go to the Cowboys. Seems like the Cowboys are trying to change their image and getting Vick would destroy that. Plus Romo will be their full time QB. Don't see them running the wild cat too often.
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
The Cowboys Decade, colorful but troubled personalities 50, playoff wins 0.
Justin VolRebel (Oxford MS)
plz is not a good argument... shaq has four rings!! kobe would have won about zero without shaq!! he still doesnt make his team better so how he got this hype i have no clue!! Way to many greats to put him in top 10... he is talented and athletic but so is the entire NBA, bein a great is much more than that!!
Alan (TAMPA BAY)
no way does vick sign witht he saints. come on now. they have drew brees
Michael Kim (11:19 AM)
Alan - Herm Edwards brought up Vick to New Orleans as a possible destination a few weeks back. I think it's a great situation. Brees is the QB no question. Vick would come in as a Wildcat QB. Can you imagine having him taking snaps with Reggie Bush?
Henry (Boston)
I am calling it Lakers back to back... then what?? What will be the complaint from all the Kobe haters then?? Where will he rank then??
Jeremy (New Orleans)
Thank you Michael Kim thats what I wanted to say
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
Michael.....Vick/Bush and then have Colston running deep routes! No defense wants any part of that.
Jay Crawford (11:21 AM)
heres one. would you want vick to qb YOUR team?
Michael Kim (11:21 AM)
Kevin - DANGEROUS! (especially on artificial turf! Speed kills!)
Keith (Hamilton,OH)
Michael, being a huge Cowboys fan I have to hope you are wayyyyyyy wrong about them taking a chance on Vick. They just really have no need for him. They don't need to get caught up in this wildcat fad going around and even if they do they have already talked about Felix Jones in that role. Dallas just got rid of all their headaches, why bring in one that could potentially outweigh all the others put together?
Gjon (Stamford Ct)
justin that arguement is pointless... shaq wins NOTHING without kobe either
Jay Crawford (11:22 AM)
i agree gjon. it takes 2, and it takes a team!
Umor (Detroit)
D-Train gonna get Cut Jay. Tigers have Too many young prospects that could help them during the season.
Jay Crawford (11:22 AM)
what a costly mistake that will be eh?
Jay Crawford (11:22 AM)
they paid him ridiculous money for THIS?
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
Shaq also won rings with SUPERSTARs lets not forget he got to the finals with orlando and LOST... Kobe is here in the finals now and they should be able to seal the deal plus w/o kobe shaq wouldnt of had those rings and w/o d.wade he wouldnt of either
Andrea (NY)
Shaq wouldn't have won without Kobe, a few games in one of their finals, Shaq fouled out and Kobe carried them to a win. The heat wouldn't have sniffed the 06 championship without Wade. It takes more than one person to win. That's pretty basic.
Jeremy (New Orleans)
Alan not for just QB Sean Payton is a offensive master and will design all types of plays for Vick not just at QB but mostly at RB or WR of some sort.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Question of the Day Jay
Justin VolRebel (Oxford MS)
vick will end up in oakland, san fran, or minn thats it, no where else is interested
Jay Crawford (11:23 AM)
i know my answer is yes! the browns would be better with him!
Sean (Washington D.C.)
Yeah! If my team was the browns
Michael Kim (11:25 AM)
The Wildcat isn't a "fad", in my opinion. Teams will be forced to incorporate more "option offense" because fewer college teams have the pro-style, dropback passing systems. NFL teams will simply have to adjust. The next phase is the Wildcat with a true passing option. That's why Vick is valuable. Same with Pat White in Miami. And yes, Tim Tebow.
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
So Tebow has value in the NFL now? Hmm......I'd just want him for the rah rah in the locker room.
Michael Kim (11:27 AM)
J.A. -- Go back to past chats. I've been saying this about Tebow.
Umor (Detroit)
Vick In the Wildcat would be good. But it's been two years. How good are his legs now.
Michael Kim (11:27 AM)
Umor - His conditioning is a huge question mark right now. But he has a couple of steps he can lose and still be faster than most of the league.
Sean (Washington D.C.)
Vick was a 1 man wildcat before they were running it in the league
Michael Kim (11:28 AM)
Sean - that's an excellent point.
Alan (TAMPA BAY)
i agree michael. as the game evolves the players get faster and stronger, and the wildcat is one of the perfect offenses to put that together. ive been saying the scrambling quarterback is the quarterback of the future since high school
Torean (Lorain, OH)
A lot of people have been telling me Tim Tebow would be a good NFL fullback, not quarterback. What do you think Michael? Could he be a good traditional QB?
Jeremy (Portland, OR)
Vick in Packers gold and green? No thank you.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
I'll take the "Pool Jump" over the "Truck Jump" any day.
Pete (NC)
If Vick does play, let's just call him what he is, a running back who sometimes throws.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Alex Smith killing fantasy teams everywhere...especially with this report
Sunny (Grand Rapids, MI)
as a lions fan I'll take Vick...I'll take anyone...Jay...how's your arm?
mike (ma)
how many scrambling qb's have won the super bowl in the last 10 years?
Maurice (Virginia)
Michael Vick is going to come back with a chip on his shoulder. Wut ever postion, QB or WR. he is a threat
Gary (Minnesota)
and Fran Tarkington wasnt a scrambler? Are you kidding me?
Michael Kim (11:31 AM)
Torean - I'm not saying Tebow is a fit for a "traditional" NFL offense. But as a wildcat qb. He's perfect. Good size and enough speed.
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
That pickup jump is nuts. But I knew kids doing this stuff when I was in high school.
Justin VolRebel (Oxford MS)
tebow will be a successful qb in the nfl no doubt about it
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
Wilbon said it the other night...probably 6-7 guys playing in the NBA finals could do the Truck Jump
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
The pool jump is way better! That dude's a 280lb lineman, truck-jumper's a WR. Maybe if he had a few Big-Macs then jumped in the truck, I'd like it more.
Marvin (NY)
Jay, please don't say 'dawg', ever again.
Kevin (Arlington, VA)
Tebow reminds me of Rothlisberger...last I checked...Ben's doing "okay" as a pro.
Michael Kim (11:34 AM)
Don't confuse "scrambling" qbs with Wildcat qbs. Scrambling is getting out of trouble when a play breaks down. Wildcat offenses have set plays designed to force defenses fill the run gaps and drop back in pass coverage.
Aaron (Denver, Colorado)
They should have called the Wildcat the Cougar...It simply confuses young athletes.
Michael Kim (11:38 AM)
Aaron - LOL
Jay Crawford (11:39 AM)
what did you guys think of keith eloi?
Brandon (Dallas, Tx)
awesome jump from keith eloi but i like adrian wilsons better
Vince (Detroit)
Are there any Pittsburgh fans out there that want to talk hockey?
Maurice (Virginia)
Jumping out of the pool is much harder than jumping in to a bed of a truch.Come on!!! With jumping out the pool u have the resestance of the water on your body.
Michael Kim (11:49 AM)
Most impressive part of Jarron Gilbert's jump our of the pool was that he kept his swim trunks on!
Justin VolRebel (Oxford MS)
I hate the steelers but i would love to have hines ward... he is a warrior and he def sets the tone
Micheal Bryant (NYC)
Eloi definitly should've been drafted. The draft was just WACKY this year.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
It isn't like he jumped in the back of an S10, he jumped around 5 feet in the air to get in the truck. I couldn't tell you what is better because I can't jump.
Gary (Minnesota)
I go with the pool guy!
J.A. Valenti (Tampa)
LOL Mike Kim about the swim shorts...THANK GOD!
Tonawanda Toney (Buffalo,N.Y.)
Detroit, get ready to pop the cork and celebrate another lord stanley's cup! There is no way i see pittsburgh winning this one.i just wish i were there for the party.
deeter (Huntingdon, TN)
magic wins game 5 lol
Gary (Minnesota)
Skip rules!
Michael Kim (12:03 PM)
Have a great weekend everyone.
Ryan (Iowa)
Skip, allows forgets to mention that Inbanz is now facing crappy NL pitching and and is playing in a great hitters park.
MAURICIO CASTILLO (BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA)
I DON'T KNOW WHY U GUYS KEEP SAYING THAT KOBE CAN'T WIN IT WITHOUT SHAQ....... IF SHAQ DIDNT HAVE KOBE, FISHER, HORRY, FOX, AND EVERYONE ELSE HE WOULDN'T HAVE ALSO WON A CHAMPIONSHIP........SHAQ ALWAYS HAD SOMEONE TO HELP HIM WIN IT LIKE WHEN HE WENT TO THE HEAT HE HAD DWAYNE WADE.......SO NOW KOBE HAS GASOL, ODOM, ARIZA, FISHER, BYNUM AND THE REST OF THE LAKERS SO LET IT BE KOBE IS IN HIS OWN CATEGORY BUT HE IS GOING TO WIN HIS 4TH CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR IN SIX GAMES!!!!!!!!!!
