Christopher Harris (10:59 AM)
Good morning, everyone. Welcome to your Monday morning fantasy baseball chat. We've updated our admin interface here on the back end of our chatting software, and there may be some glitches -- specifically, you may see some questions whose answers get posted later than I actually write them. We're working on it! Anyway, let's get straight to your questions....
Brian (Wantagh)
I am a panicking Jake Peavy owner. What do I do?
Christopher Harris (11:01 AM)
Hi, Brian. Um, what's that Dan Quayle once said? Say a little prayer? Presumably you have DL slots or at least bench spots in your league, and I think you probably have to use one on Peavy. The worst-case sounds like he could miss three months, but there's a chance it could be less than that. So I think you just have to hold onto him, and hope.....
Brian (Pittsburgh)
Any concern about Johan?
Christopher Harris (11:03 AM)
Yeah, well, the results have been a little sketchy lately, haven't they? I mean, sure, I'm concerned, at least to the point where I'm thinking about not putting him at the top of my list when I rank starters for my Sixty Feet Six Inches column tomorrow. The Mets say they think Santana got messed up by a blister that's now healed, and that he has too much movement on his two-seam fastball. That seems fixable to me. But yeah, I mean, obviously you have to keep trundling him out there on your fantasy team, but it's something to keep an eye on.
Jackson (Portland)
Welcome to Tokyo Mr. Harris. I have had enough of Chris Young this season and want to drop him. My options to pick up are rather slim. Who do you like of Jordan Zimmermann, Sean West, and Clayton Richard? Any other names that might be available that I should take a look at?
Christopher Harris (11:05 AM)
Hi, Jackson. Well, honestly, I probably do like Young better than those other guys, but sometimes I know what that's like: you gotta ditch a guy. If the choice is between those three pitchers, I'm a Zimmermann man -- he isn't going to get you wins, but I believe in him otherwise...really like that combo of strikeouts and low walks. I think he's going to be quite a good pitcher, and will be a positive influence on fantasy teams this year....
AJ (Chicago)
Finally dropped JJ Hardy, 12 team mixed, didn't have anyone else to drop for a SS. Picked up Callaspo for now, Furcal is available. Did I make the right move?
Christopher Harris (11:08 AM)
Hi, AJ. I see signs of Furcal being better lately -- and his upside is clearly higher than anyone else likely to be available in your league. Me, I'm pretty heavily invested in Furcal, actually, and I've been hanging tight with him. If I'm choosing between Callaspo and Furcal, I'm taking Furcal (though I do own Callaspo in an AL-only league). I also haven't completely given up on Hardy -- though I probably do rate Furcal higher right now.
John (Cincinnati, OH)
Better 2 start option this week, Wandy Rodriguez or Jeremy Guthrie?
Christopher Harris (11:10 AM)
Hi, John. Despite the two on the road, I'm probably saying Wandy. Guthrie certainly hasn't been any great shakes lately, either. I'm not completely selling on Wandy just yet, though that early-season magic does seem to have been something of a mirage. He *should* strike out a bunch of guys this week, though.
Jason Breen (NYC)
Need a pitcher in a deep 14 team league that includes K/BB. Even Russ Ortiz is owned! Who you like rest of the season: Andrew Miller or Scott Richmond?
Christopher Harris (11:11 AM)
Hi, Jason. Love those deep leagues. I fear that the Scott Richmond magic is wearing off. I'm going to say Miller -- if only because I like his ballpark better, and he's got the far higher career upside. He's the likelier of the two to "figure things out" and be significantly better after the Break. (But obviously you're right: neither is great.)
Harry (Seattle)
I'm not getting what I hoped for out of James Shields. Few walks, but he gets pounded a lot. What are your thoughts?
Christopher Harris (11:12 AM)
Hi, Harry. You're dead on, man. I'm frustrated with him, too. I own Shields in several leagues, and while he's been a net-positive fantasy player, that's not what we drafted him for. I guess there's really not a lot you can do. If you're flat-out through with him, maybe you can find someone who'll give you fair value in a trade, but that's probably not all that likely. Shields is one of those vaguely under-performing would-be stars that you just have to hope figures things out going forward. You and I are probably both stuck with him for now.
Tom (Atlantic City)
Look into your crystal ball and tell me if you see a DL stint in Johan's immediate future. He hasn't looked good and reports say velocity is down. Would trading him be ridiculous?
Christopher Harris (11:14 AM)
Hi, Tom. As I said earlier (but I'm not sure if my answers are all posting at the time I'm writing them!), I don't think Johan's blister problems sound like something he'll need a DL stint for. But then again, these things can change in an instant. For now, my best guess is no, that this is a mechanical thing. But we'll see. As for trading him -- I'll say the same thing as I said about Shields: if you're really worried (and you have a right to be), and can find someone to give you fair value, I don't mind dealing him. The problem is...Johan's fair value is the No. 1 pitcher in fantasy. Tough to get that for him right now....
Kyle (LA)
Whats up with the Tampa Rays closer situation?
Christopher Harris (11:16 AM)
Hi, Kyle. Good question. Jason Isringhausen, in whom I never believed, is now on the 60-day DL and could call it a career. Troy Percival is also on the DL with shoulder tendonitis. It's funny: being "clever" with his bullpen and mixing and matching has always seemed like Joe Maddon's "brilliant" style anyway -- so he's like a pig in slop. I personally don't think Grant Balfour is pitching very well, and Dan Wheeler doesn't seem to be getting the save chances I thought he would when I wrote the Rays team preview back in March (but I'm still hopeful). For now, it seems like J.P. Howell and Randy Choate (against lefties) are the short-term bets for saves...but any of those four guys I mentioned could get chances...
Sean (Utah)
Who do you like more for the rest of this season: Lackey or Santana?
Christopher Harris (11:17 AM)
Hi, Sean. Still Johan. I'm not jumping off the bandwagon just yet, especially not for Lackey, who's been pretty underwhelming this year. (But for those asking about Lackey -- yeah, I think you still have to use him going forward...it's what you drafted him for...)
Gabe (New Jersey)
J. Contreras, Are you a believer?
Christopher Harris (11:19 AM)
Hi, Gabe. In AL-only leagues, sure -- he's been stellar in his first two starts back in the majors, and in deep leagues you're always looking to catch lightning in a bottle. But in mixed leagues -- man, I think I'd have to pass. This is a guy with a history of looking lights-out for short periods, and then giving up nine runs in 1 1/3 innings, you know? I'm probably pretty conservative when it comes to flash-in-the-pan men like Contreras, so I'm staying away. Hey, but if you really, really need help, and don't mind taking a chance, you might as well go with a smoking-hot pitcher like this, right?
Linc (CA)
Can we consider Cliff Lee a top 10 pitcher at this point?
Christopher Harris (11:20 AM)
Hi, Linc. Great outing last night, Lee takes a no-hitter into the eighth, but no, I'm not ready to get out the annointing oil just yet. Lee has had his moments, but he hasn't been nearly as consistent as he was during his Cy Young season. I'll consider bumping him up into my top 20 when I write my Sixty Feet Six Inches column today, but top 10? No -- there are an awful lot of good pitchers in that group....
kazmir (athens)
do i have a chance to get back to all-star form?
Christopher Harris (11:22 AM)
Well, there's always a chance. Kazmir is beginning a short stint of minor-league rehab outings this week, and could be back in Tampa's rotation soon, and I'd certainly expect him to be better than he's been. But for the first time in his career, Kazmir was overrated for fantasy purposes this spring. His "Dice-K Lite" act is wearing thing -- too many walks, too many control problems, too many hitters going too deep in counts. I think the strikeouts will be there eventually, but will he be a top-20 guy? Right now, I don't think so. (Of course, once I've seen him throw, I reserve the right to change my mind.)
Eric (Denver)
Troy Tulowitzki has been swinging a hot bat during the Rockies winning streak...can he keep this going the rest of the year? should i pick him up now and drop jerry hairston jr?
Christopher Harris (11:23 AM)
Hi, Eric. I like Tulowitzki just fine, though I'd like him better if the Rockies would put him back up into the No. 2 spot. For as long as he's down around No. 6 or No. 7, he's probably a borderline top-12 shortstop -- but I do have him rated higher than Hairston Jr., who's a platoon player in search of a platoon-mate. So yeah, I'd make that move.
Nick (Orlando, FL)
Tears of sadness for the Magic....help brighten my day slightly with your expert opinion....Someone just drop F. Liriano....waiver pick up is a no brainer right?
Christopher Harris (11:25 AM)
Hi, Nick. Yeah, sorry about the Magic. (Side note: as a Laker-hater, I was rooting for Orlando, but man, has there been a dumber team in the Finals in recent memory? That must've been a *really* frustrating series for you to watch....) Yeah, if someone lost their patience with Liriano, I'd be willing to pounce. He hasn't gotten a decision in his past two outings, but he's looked better, is throwing his change more, and has 12 Ks. I'm buying.
Joe (NJ)
Carlos Quentin......do you think he will be benched for the year?
Christopher Harris (11:26 AM)
Hi, Joe. For the year? Well, no, I don't think so. Everything out of Chicago seems to indicate that the team expects him back after the All-Star Break, which is already devastating enough for fantasy owners. But nobody's really indicated he'll be done for the year. At least not yet. Knock on wood.
Mike (Detroit)
Is Bedard really this good? Hasn't given up 3 runs this year, or something like that
Christopher Harris (11:28 AM)
Hi, Mike. Yup, Bedard still hasn't allowed more than three earned in a game this year, through 11 starts. He's also striking out a batter an inning. This is the guy Seattle thought they were getting last year. Here's what I have to say about Bedard -- he's got great stuff (that curve is nasty), but he's got a lot to prove in the heart department. He's fragile, it seems, and he also seems to be better the worse his team is. That wouldn't bode well if someone like the Phillies traded for the free-agent-to-be. But hey, yeah, I mean, he's a top-20 starter right now, no question. The only reason he isn't higher is that I don't trust his health...he could come down with a "sore shoulder" any minute....
Garrett (IA)
Is Lilly really this good? He quieted a (recently) potent Twins team yesterday. Would have gotten the win too if the Cubs had bats instead of toothpicks.
Christopher Harris (11:30 AM)
Hi, Garrett. I mean, Lilly is exactly what his stats show -- and have shown really ever since he became a Cub. He's someone who, when you watch him throw, he doesn't seem overwhelming. Good fastball, not great. Good curve, probably not as good as it was when he was younger. And yet he just keeps putting up results, despite being something of a fly-ball pitcher in a homer-friendly home park. I think Lilly is just about the most consistent "good" pitcher out there. I'm definitely a believer, though he's not a No. 1 fantasy guy. A No. 2 or No. 3? Definitely. And to my eyes, little downside.
PJ (NY)
Hey, Chris. I'm torn on Wandy this week. Did you see anything different in his start against the Cubbies to give some hope he has righted the ship? There were some rumors he was tipping pitches during his miserable stretch. Have you heard anything?
Christopher Harris (11:32 AM)
Hi, PJ. I heard the same thing about pitch-tipping, which presumably he's remedied, considering how much play it got in the Houston media. Yeah, he was definitely better in his last start -- didn't rack up a ton of Ks, but didn't have control issues, and mostly kept the Cubs off-balance. I'm using him this week.
Dan (Columbus)
Nolasco or Hanson from this point to the end of the season?
Christopher Harris (11:33 AM)
Hi, Dan. You probably know this if you read my Sixty Feet Six Inches column at all, but I'm a pretty big Ricky Nolasco apologist this year. I'm of a mind that he's been extraordinarily unlucky this year, and that it'll turn around for him. I love Hanson's fastball, love his potential, but I think there'll be enough times that he "doesn't have it" this year that Nolasco offers more. He'd be my choice.
The Real Deal (NYC)
Chris - I've asked more than a couple times if you possibly left Gavin Floyd off the Sixty Feet, Six Inches rankings in error or if it was intentional. The guy continues to shine since a rough start to the season and in his last 5 starts he's 2-1, with 36 K's in 37 INN, 1 CG, 1.67 ERA and 0.82 WHIP. What gives?
Christopher Harris (11:39 AM)
Hi, TRD. Sorry I haven't gotten to your question other times (there are *hundreds* to get through...). No, leaving off Floyd hasn't been an accident. I'm just not a huge believer. You're right, it's hard to ignore his last five starts, and winning 17 games last year was certainly noteworthy, too. But I'm always highly suspicious of Floyd. I admit that his underlying numbers aren't as scary this year as they were last, but I still see an abnormally low HR/FB rate that will probably even out. (He was as high as 20% with the Phillies, and he's only at 9.3% this year.) That said, I admit, Floyd is starting to merit top-80 consideration. I predict he'll be on the borderline this week -- thanks for advocating on his behalf....
Jimmy (NY)
Cody Ross: 10 HR, 39 RBI, 34 RPlayer B: 11 HR, 39 RBI, 36 RPlayer B is Miguel Cabrera. Is Cody Ross viable in a shallow mixed league?
Christopher Harris (11:42 AM)
Hi, Jimmy. Well, you're leaving off a pretty important component here: Ross is at .270 and Miggy is at .320. And that average for Ross may actually be on the high side: he stikes me as more of a .250 to .260 hitter. That said, I own Ross in several deeper leagues this year (along with Jeremy Hermida), and have been really happy with him. Would I own him in a mixed? It's possible. Would I *start* him in a mixed? That's a tougher proposition. It's hard for me to say anything definitively, since I don't know what your other options are. Let me just say that I think Ross is playing a little bit above his head, and Miggy is...Miggy. He's significantly better.
Michael (Portland, ME)
For quite a while I've heard Matt Cain is a sell high. After his 9K/0BB start, stay on the bandwagon for the season, or it's just all downhill from here?
Christopher Harris (11:44 AM)
Hi, Michael. Great question -- and I've been one of the foremost voices telling you to sell high. I have to admit -- I'm reconsidering. Cain just keeps pumping out terrific fantasy starts. His strand rate is ridiculous: 88.2%, which means he's been pretty lucky (usually performance with men on base tends to even out over the course of a season -- Cain's strand rate last year was 75.3%, and he's at 75% for his career). But those strikeouts! I don't see a lot of reason to sell right now -- Cain could come off of his fantastic performances lately and *still* be a terrific fantasy pitcher. But if someone wanted to give me the moon for him? I might look at that strand rate and decide to do it.
PLEASE (Steve) (Boston)
I need to drop 1. HANSON, PRICE, or KERSHAW. Prices walks scare me. Thanks
Christopher Harris (11:47 AM)
Hi, Steve. I have Kershaw first among this group, despite his difficulty going deeper into games. He's just as good a "prospect" as the other two guys, just deeper into his big-league career. Really, all three guys have ace potential, but all three are at that point where they aren't as efficient as they should be, and can get into troubles with walks and high pitch counts. For me, I still like Price more than Hanson, if only because of his taste of major-league success last year. But yeah, I mean, all three guys are going to submit some scary outings here and there.
Trevor (Texas)
Will Ryan Madson be the Phillies closer for the remainder of the year? Even if Lidge comes back healthy?
Christopher Harris (11:48 AM)
Hi, Trevor. I don't think so. I think if Lidge comes back with a healthy knee, he's the guy, at least until he proves he can't be. But we don't really know when Lidge will be back, and we don't know at *all* that he can be effective -- remember, this is a guy who's let bad stuff get in his head in the past, and his terrible season to date has got to be weighing on him. If the impetus of this question is whether or not to own Madson, or stick by him for the moment -- the answer is: yes. Ride him.
Sid the Kid (Pitt)
who were you rooting for in game 7?
Christopher Harris (11:49 AM)
I was rooting for the Penguins. I watched the game with my little brother (from Big Brothers / Big Sisters, shameless plug), and he likes penguins (as animals). He's nine, cut him some slack. But yeah, my instinct was to root for the team that hadn't won all those Cups in recent years anyway....
Joe (FL)
Do you feel that Chris Coghlan should be owned in a 12 team mixed? Since moving to the leadoff spot, he seems to have 'figured' it out a little. He also has a minor league track record of getting walks and stealing bases. Do you think he can be a good fill in player in this type of league for the rest of the season or is he a flash in the pan similar to Emilio Bonifacio? Thanks.
Christopher Harris (11:51 AM)
Hi, Joe. Good question -- thanks for bringing up Coghlan. I think throwing him in the same group with Bonifacio is definitely not warranted...he's a legitimate Grade-A prospect who was killing it at Triple-A New Orleans. I really like him in deeper leagues right now, and I think he's got a bright future ahead. Is he a must-add in mixed leagues, though? Hm, I don't think so. I guess I don't mind him as a "fill-in" guy of the type you describe, and I do think he'll stick in the majors for a team that doesn't look like a serious threat to take a run at the NL East. But I think you're going to see the inevitable ebbs and flows with Coghlan that you might not get with a veteran player.
Eric (Texas)
Go Big Brother Big Sisters! I'm on the board for the local chapter here...good for you for being a part of it! Hook a "brother" up! What do you think of Jose Lopez the rest of the way?
Christopher Harris (11:53 AM)
Hi, Eric. Yeah -- I've been a Big Brother for just over three years...wouldn't trade it for anything. As for Lopez -- I wrote a pretty scathing review of him when we did our May rankings, but since then, he's shown quite a bit more, at least in the power department. I'm generally not a big fan...I think he's a bit of a head case who'll drag down your batting average. But decent power at second base has been tougher to find this year than in seasons past. I think Lopez is a decent add, though again, you need to be able to withstand the average hit.
Federico (NYC)
You own both Ross and Hermida? If you could have only one, which would you choose?
Christopher Harris (11:54 AM)
Hi, Federico. Yeah, I own them both -- in an NL-only league and in a very deep mixed. Not a 10- or 12-team mixed. Just to clarify. If I had to pick one, I'm going Hermida. He's never going to be the fantasy stud we thought he'd be before leg injuries sapped him of stolen base potential, but I believe in that bat.
Nate (NOLA)
Are you a believer in Weaver?
Christopher Harris (11:57 AM)
Hi, Nate. I wish I could answer with as clever rhymes as you asked. But at the tail end of an hour of chatting, my poetic impulses are worn down. Like Cain, Weaver was kind of a whipping boy of mine about a month ago, and I viewed him as a sell-high guy. (That kind of rhymes.) But Weaver has a scarily low BAABIP (.245), which does indicate things should get worse for him in the second half. Still, he's kept it up longer than I thought he would, so I don't mind milking him for as long as it lasts. I will say that I think Weaver is more of a sell high than Cain is at this point.
Daniel (Canada ehh)
im finally getting over losing peavy! dont make me cry again! please answer this extrememly importnat decision! peavy and zimm for haren and dye???
Christopher Harris (11:58 AM)
Hi, Daniel. Don't cry. I think Peavy is going to be out for most of the second half (that's not based on inside info, just on my reading of the tea leaves -- he's going to be in a cast for at least a month, and then we'll see...). So yeah, I'd do that deal in a heartbeat if I could get a healthy Haren.
John (NYC)
Branyan for Street? What do you think? I get Branyan...
Christopher Harris (12:00 PM)
Hi, John. I mean, I've been predicting Branyan's demise just about every day for a month now, so I'm pretty much a moron and not the right person to really weigh in on him. If you need hitting help and he'll fill a positional void for you, I guess you can do this. I just don't see how Branyan keeps the batting average up. He's a career .237 hitter batting .313. (And the .237 *includes* this season!) I just don't know how he doesn't sink like a stone in the second half. That said, Street could get dealt to someone and be a setup man within a month. I wouldn't do the deal in a vacuum, but you know your team better than I do, and if you need the help......
dan (detroit)
surely you would you trade your big brother membership for Johan and Lincecum.
Christopher Harris (12:00 PM)
Never! Wait, Johan *and* Lincecum? Ummmmmmm....
Joey (NY)
Would you rather own John Smoltz or Clay Bucholz for the rest of 2009?
Christopher Harris (12:01 PM)
Hi, Joey. Interesting question, man. I think we'll have a better handle on an answer to that question literally by the end of this week -- we have to see what the Sox are going to do with Smoltz now that he's supposedly ready to pitch in the majors. Me, I think Buchholz is going to be up sometime in the second half, and right now he's got a Mega-Advantage over Smoltz in the stuff department. But will he have a similar opportunity? I still will have Smoltz rated higher in this week's starting-pitching rankings. But that might not last more than another week or two. So this is an ongoing drama.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Jason Bartlett was recently dropped in one of my fantasy leagues. Am I missing something?
Christopher Harris (12:03 PM)
Hi, Steve. Well, Bartlett is *back* off the DL as of this morning, so the only thing you're missing is that he's probably *more* valuable than he's been over the past couple weeks. That said, for as much as I hyped Bartlett this March on TV, calling him one of my favorite sleepers, I don't see any way he's as good as he was before he got hurt. The real key is whether or not he's at all limited in his ability to steal bases. No matter what he hits, or whether the power goes away, as long as Bartlett can run, he'll have significant fantasy value.
Matt (Arlington)
Hamilton/Quentin? Who do you keep, who do you trade? Non Keeper H2h?
Christopher Harris (12:04 PM)
Hi, Matt. Man, so tough. Hamilton had surgery, Quentin is (to my knowledge, at least) just resting, so that makes it seem (to me, anyway) that Quentin has a better chance of coming back sooner. But will he just get hurt again? I have to say I'd probably rather have Hamilton, because once he *is* back, I think he's got a better chance of being himself. In the lineup and healthy, he's obviously an elite player.
Doug (NYC)
Assuming health for all 3, please rank the careers of Price, Kershaw, Hanson, and Buchholz
Christopher Harris (12:05 PM)
Hi, Doug. Great question. I have to admit that this is a little "off-the-cuff," and I love all four guys. But when we look back after 20 years, I'll say it goes like this: Price, Kershaw, Buchholz, Hanson. But I love all four.
Scott ((SC))
Will Neftali Feliz be up this year? What are your thoughts on him?
Christopher Harris (12:07 PM)
Hi, Scott. I must admit that I'm relying on Jason Grey for first-hand knowledge of guys like Feliz -- Jason has actually seen them throw, whereas I'm relying in large part on his (and other scouts') reports. I tend to think that for as long as the Rangers are in this thing, they're going to resist the urge to push guy as young as Feliz, especially given that someone like Derek Holland, who's nearly as good a prospect, has struggled in the majors. So if I'm guessing, I think Feliz is a September callup only. But yeah, from what Jason says, we're looking at No. 1 starter potential.
Doug (NYC)
you love your lefties i see ;-)
Christopher Harris (12:09 PM)
Heh. Yeah, maybe. (Nothing to do with the fact that *I* was once a left-handed starter. A pretty bad one, at that.) Honestly, I think Price is better than the other three by a significant margin -- I think he'll win a Cy Young award. Kershaw v. Buchholz was a tougher call for me, but I like the fact that Kershaw has been able to fight through his down times in the bigs so far, whereas Buchholz couldn't. That's really the only difference between those two guys for me. I could easily be convinced to switch them if Buchholz does come up this year and dominates.
John ( Denver)
Can you talk about HAMELS? Is he burning out? To many pitches last year? Or rebound strong in 2nd half?
Christopher Harris (12:11 PM)
Hi, John. I hear you: two bad outings in his past three. But the game sandwiched in between was a complete-game shutout. I think Hamels frankly is just fine...he seems to be over the nicks and bruises that limited him in his first few starts of the year, and his BAABIP for the season is .348. That's probably going to come down, making him even more enticing going forward. To me, it doesn't seem like he's hurt, and that'd be the only thing that would scare me off. I'm on board, and I don't think he's even been bad enough to *need* a second-half rebound, to be honest. (Though a rebound from that bad start against the Mets? Definitely.)
Mike (Boston)
WAIT, Don't hang up yet! Haren or Billingsly for the rest of the year?
Christopher Harris (12:13 PM)
Hi, Mike. Last week I had Billingsley 5 and Haren 6. I think I'm going to be flip-flopping them this week, not because of anything bad that Billingsley did, but because Haren is just unstoppable lately. But really, they're almost the same in my book -- so reliable, and excellent....
John (Boston)
Any word yet on Sizemores MRI? Thanks
Christopher Harris (12:14 PM)
Hi, John. Nothing that I've heard yet this morning. (Or, on the East Coast, I guess afternoon.) It'll be a big story in the next couple hours, I'm guessing....
Ryan (Augusta GA)
Should i drop Brandon Webb for Pettitte, Washburn, Volquez, or Nolasco or should i keep Webb
Christopher Harris (12:16 PM)
Hi, Ryan. Hm. I'm not *entirely* against dropping Webb -- he's sunk into the low 30s in my starting pitching ranks, because man, it's been an awful long time on the DL. But I have to admit that none of the choices you present me with here are exciting enough to make me make the move. Odds are that one of 'em does jump up and surprise us the rest of the way, and that could be Volquez if he can get healthy. But for now, I'm probably keeping Webb.
Christopher Harris (12:16 PM)
All right, gang -- let me do one more, than I've got to get into writing this week's Sixty Feet Six Inches.
Kevin (Ny)
You said to sell high on johnny cueto a few weeks ago, you sticking with that position?
Christopher Harris (12:20 PM)
Hi, Kevin. Was Cueto on that list? I actually didn't remember that, which is a bad one on me. I've got him rated in the mid-30s, which is about where I think he belongs. Extremely low BAABIP (.247), pretty high strand rate (81.4%), bad home park for a guy who gives up fly balls more than 40% of the time -- he doesn't strike me as a top-notch fantasy option going forward. But he also hasn't been an elite strikeout option -- I guess the only thing that's been "high" about him fantasy-wise is that sparkling ERA. I do think that number will rise. So if someone wants to give you high value for him, yeah, I mean, I'd trade him. I think the ERA is going up. But I don't think he'll fall off the map. I guess yeah, I think he's a sell high, if "high" is where he currently resides.
Christopher Harris (12:21 PM)
All right, everyone. Thanks very much for coming. Great questions today -- excellent session. As always, I continue to be humbled by your interest...it allows me to have my job, for which I'm eternally thankful. Check out my Sixty Feet Six Inches column tomorrow, watch for me on TV tomorrow afternoon on ESPN News in the afternoon and ESPN2 at night, and once again, thank you....
