Good afternoon everyone....let's get his partaaaayyy started!
Bill Scott (Lake Summerset, Illinois)
It seems to be Checkers or Wreckers as far as the 18. I have him on my team now and at this point value is not an issue. Should I keep him at Loudon and looking ahead to Daytona? The option would be the 48. Thanks, and by the way GO GO KENSETH !
Mark Garrow (3:02 PM)
Bill, I'm in the same spot you are. Busch should be very good at Loudon, but will he finish up front and make it payoff?...Johnson is a safe option. I'm ranking him third this week ahead of Kyle, who I rate ninth because his lack of top-10 finishes lately. It wouldn't surprise me for Busch to outrun Johnson but finish behind him. I rate Matt, by the way, 17th in my pre-race rankings. Think he'll be good not great.
Daniel (Indiana)
hey mark, just got a question to ask you, how do you think the following eight drivers will fare this weekend: Martin, Jimmie, Reutimann, Truex, Kurt, Stewart, Sorenson and Ambrose? Thanks for the help!
Mark Garrow (3:03 PM)
Stewart, Martin, Jimmie, and Kurt are potential top-five..Truex potential top-10...Reutimann and Ambrose potential top-15...Sorenson maybe top-20..
Rich (Saint Peters)
Mr. Guru..... Did very good last week.... 14,18,42,44,47......I've had Tony for a while now and i don't want to give up where i have him locked in..... I'm thinking...14,48,83,1, and 77. What do you think? Have a good weekend.... I might be talking to you sunday.
Mark Garrow (3:06 PM)
We're friends...just call me Guru...lol...Rich I think you're on to a pretty good team..Given how Hornish was top-10 at Phoenix and Richmond he's got a shot to do that at Loudon..Truex has been top-10 last four times out at NH...They're a nice "floor" for this week. 14 and 48 should be really good. 83 doesn't set my heart on fire..if Martin is to expensive..dropping down Ambrose or McMurray might be a better bet.
Billy (TN)
Good Afternoon All Knowing All Seeing Divinely Inspired Guru, please rank these for NH-96,44,43,47,77 Thanks
Mark Garrow (3:08 PM)
47,77,96,43,44...and love the Guru "intro"..lol...
RAY GORDON REID ( PROVIDENCE RI 02902)
QUESTION TO MARK GARROW AT 3.15 PM GOOD WENESDAY GURU WHOS YOUR PICK FOR LUNDON
Mark Garrow (3:09 PM)
My number one pick this weekend is Tony Stewart..followed by Mark Martin, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman and Kurt Busch.
norm (palm springs ca)
Good afternoon Mark, Any chance the he RCR cars run a little better this weekend at the flat track?
Mark Garrow (3:11 PM)
I think they will led by Kevin Harvick. He's very good at this place with Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer not too far behind. Mears was ninth at Richmond so he might be in better shape than you think. I don't see any of them, though, running top-five...top-10 to top-15..that's about all I see.
andy (cincinnati)
Guru, is it safe to play Hamlin this week? Who do you think are the best flat track racers? Refreshing to see someone outside the top three teams win!
Mark Garrow (3:13 PM)
I think Hamlin is going to be in pretty good shape at NH. Coming off a top-five at Sonoma so he's got the bad luck bug off his back..and is one of the best flat track racers out there. My pre-race ranking for him is seventh, which means I think he's got a shot to sneak into the top-five if things fall his way.
ED (LA)
So much for Kasey Kahne being absolute crap and just hoping he can finish the race. Who should we be looking at going towards Loudon? Is Hamlin over his slump?
Mark Garrow (3:16 PM)
Boy did his crew chief poor mouth their deal last week and caused just about everyone to miss out on Kahne's upset..Next time Kenny Francis says Kasey is junk I'm going to put him on my team..lol..I have Kahne ranked 14th going in which makes him potential top-10 to top-15 material. In the last two years, we've seen him jump and win races and turn to junk a short time later so it wouldn't be a first if he struggles again at NH. I don't know if one race puts you over the hump, but I do know Hamlin is a good flat track racer and has finished 8th and 9th last two Loudon outings. He needs some serious consideration. But if I had the money I'd problem drop down to take Mark Martin.
Ken (Hendersonville)
Mark: Please expalin: Logano has a lot of laps at the place so he'll be back on my radar after a week off...I can not see he has run either a Cup, Nationwide or Truck race their...some other series?
Mark Garrow (3:19 PM)
He's run one Cup race at Loudon, finishing 32nd. He's also run two Camping World East Series races there and won both.
Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)
Hey Mark, I enjoy the Jayski podcasts. Can you rank the following drivers on who you like for the NH race: Tony Stewart, Jimmy Johnson, Carl Edwards and Jeff Gordon. Thanks for the insight.
Mark Garrow (3:21 PM)
Thanks for the kind words about the podcast...be sure to tell all your friends..Need to get those numbers up! I rate those drivers Stewart, Johnson, Gordon, and Edwards.....here's my pre-race, pre-Sunday chat top-30..........1. Tony Stewart2. Mark Martin3. Jimmie Johnson4. Jeff Gordon5. Ryan Newman6. Kurt Busch 7. Denny Hamlin8. Greg Biffle9. Kyle Busch10.Martin Truex, Jr.11.Carl Edwards12.Jamie McMurray13.Kevin Harvick14.Kasey Kahne15.Juan Pablo Montoya16.Jeff Burton17.Matt Kenseth18.Marcos Ambrose19.Clint Bowyer20.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.21.David Reutimann22.Sam Hornish, Jr.23.Brian Vickers24.Bobby Labonte25.Casey Mears26.Reed Sorenson27.Elliott Sadler28.Joey Logano29.David Ragan30.A.J. norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, I too think the Petty bunch gave you some bad info last week, now that Kasey is an accomplished road racer can he carry that over to NH. He has won at Pocono and seems to be streaky?
Mark Garrow (3:22 PM)
I think Kasey is going to be okay in NH nothing to write home about. Anybody that picked Kahne after what Francis told us last week..just plain liked Kasey and let their heart overide their brain..
Ken (Hendersonville)
Mark: Please remind Alan that he needs to go to the balckboard and repeat 100 times...Denny Hamlin is not a bum...then have him repeat it another 200 times for not showing up to take the music last Sunday.
Mark Garrow (3:23 PM)
I have to admit I missed Alan. Let's hope he was just on vacation...
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, Jr was running a good race until wrecked last week and has run good at NH. Where do you rank he prince, or is it crown prince this week, after ruining my team last week with the likes of Robbie and Kyle I need to make up some ground.
Mark Garrow (3:24 PM)
I got killed by those two guys last week too..I've got Junior ranked 20th, but he could and should run better than that..Would have finished 8th to 12th last week if for not getting crashed...
Michael (Salinas, CA)
How can people honestly like Nascar?
Mark Garrow (3:28 PM)
What's not to like...the drivers are neat individuals who risk their neck every week..You can watch it and say "I could do that or I do that on the highway"....the sights..the smell..the burning rubber...all pretty cool..you need to go to a live race and tell me what you think...
Aaron (Dallas)
Sorry bout last week when i posted my ? my computer was messing up so that is why it was sent 20 times lol. here are my three sets of picks that i am want to go with but which one would you pick out of the 3? 2-11-14 11-14-48 2-14-48
Mark Garrow (3:30 PM)
Aaron like the 11-14- and 48 the best ..that trio could all run top-five..and one could be a winner!...as for last weeks I thought you just had the hiccups...lol..
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, 17% picked KK last week from the data there. I think Jr barring some hambone type luck will have a good week and will most likely have him on my team. I also think the whole HMS group will be strong all six of them and possibly growing.
Mark Garrow (3:31 PM)
I didn't think 17% would go with Kasey..interesting...I think Junior is potential top-10..should be a lock top-15..
Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)
Hey Mark. It's probably not relevant to this chat, but do you know of any Indy Car drivers who feel they have maxed out their time on that circuit and would seriously consider the jump to NASCAR?
Mark Garrow (3:32 PM)
The only one we're hearing about right now is Danica...Franchitti has a bad taste and his experience along with Carpentier's probably have a few gun shy who might like to try it.
andy (cincy)
Guru, no one seems to be high on the 16 and he won the race last year! Who is your floor pick for SCC this week?
Mark Garrow (3:33 PM)
Andy..I've got Biffle ranked 8th going in..so I have him potential top-5 to top-10 material..I might make the 1 and 77 my two floor picks to build up from this week.
Richard ((California))
Hi Mark, Have 14-18-42-26-7 from Sonoma, (to bad about 7 with one to go),and need some help.Am considering 48-18-5-(26 or 1 )-77.It would be easy with no cap. Thanks as always.
Mark Garrow (3:35 PM)
Gordon bit me in the backside too..48,18,5,1, and 77 is a pretty good team..if you have .3 to work with think about trading 18 for 16..might be a little safer...18 though will be fast, furious, and hopefully a finisher.
Ken (Hendersonville)
Mark: Why are you ranking MM 2nd on your list? He has not raced their since '06...that much strength on just Phoenix?
Mark Garrow (3:37 PM)
Phoenix and Richmond, where he was fifth..plus three second place finishes at New Hampshire..and in last three races there worst finish was 11th..I like the way things add up for him.
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, Me either but that what the who picked who graph shows, I had him a year ago when he was on the pole and ran 30th. If you go 11, 14, 48 who's the budget guys, not alot of money left after that.
Mark Garrow (3:38 PM)
I'm going with 1 and 77 down at the bottom. Logano and Labonte might be of some help too.
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, The 1 has been strong at NH, but will there be distractions, there is alot of rumors over there to include EGR switching to Toy cars soon. Can he finish, or Hornish for that matter?
Mark Garrow (3:39 PM)
I'm more concerned with Hornish than Truex, who can drive NH with a blindfold if he had to..If Hornish runs, though, like he did at Phoenix then he could run top-10 this weekend, which would be a great finish at a very low price.
WMac (FL)
Hi Guru, a. 14,5,39,1,7? or 48,5,39,1,77Thanks and enjoy your posts
Mark Garrow (3:40 PM)
I'd go with the second team..I feel better about Hornish staying out of trouble more than Robby Gordon.
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, No luv for the Roush bunch this week, Biffle won there in the fall.
Mark Garrow (3:43 PM)
I have Biffle ranked 8th..his win offset by lack of strong finishes this year at Phoenix at Richmond..Edwards 11th so he could potentially run top-10.
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, Any chance of weather being an issue, like Kurts win last June?
Mark Garrow (3:44 PM)
I'm from up there...weather could always be an issue...it changes very quickly..I always bring an extra set of clothes just in case..
Aaron (Dallas)
how do you see the top 20 finishing order?
Mark Garrow (3:45 PM)
Not sure yet really...but again pre-race rankings are....................1. Tony Stewart2. Mark Martin3. Jimmie Johnson4. Jeff Gordon5. Ryan Newman6. Kurt Busch 7. Denny Hamlin8. Greg Biffle9. Kyle Busch10.Martin Truex, Jr.11.Carl Edwards12.Jamie McMurray13.Kevin Harvick14.Kasey Kahne15.Juan Pablo Montoya16.Jeff Burton17.Matt Kenseth18.Marcos Ambrose19.Clint Bowyer20.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.21.David Reutimann22.Sam Hornish, Jr.23.Brian Vickers24.Bobby Labonte25.Casey Mears26.Reed Sorenson27.Elliott Sadler28.Joey Logano29.David Ragan30.A.J. malibu barbie (p'cola florida)
mark...fyi, the chat link on the main page is not working, had to find you through some hard to find archive page....so, what was up with Kasey Kahne last week? was his crew chief pulling your leg? i had him everywhere and then dropped him on that bit of info.... and wrinkled raisin man was a big disappointment, how do we know when he's for real? xox, mb
Mark Garrow (3:51 PM)
Yes, his crew chief was apparently pulling my leg big time...by the way your picture apparently was a big hit in the somewhere in the chat last week...couldn't find it...but those who did said you had a great smile..now if I could only give you great advice....lol...I think Martin will redeem himself for you this week and I promise not to tell him what you called him...lol...
Richard (California)
Mark, How important is qualifying/pit selection this week-end?
Mark Garrow (3:52 PM)
The first pit out will be big that's for sure..track position at a place like Loudon priceless..
JJ (Sac town)
why was montoya booed during pre race on sunday? didnt people had a problem with him
Mark Garrow (3:52 PM)
I didn't really pick up on that..he can't be in Kyle Busch's league though..
WMac (FL)
Guru, Playing around with different combos and considering you posts. A. 5,1,16or18,39,20 B. 48,5,39,1,77 C. 14,5,39,11,7
Mark Garrow (3:54 PM)
I like B the best..77 needs to come through..C is really stout until you get to the unpredictable Robbie Gordon who pulls off a strong finish every once in awhile...but I never time him right.
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, you might have your bunch check into the links to tha chat, the old was was still there for sonoma on weds.
Mark Garrow (3:56 PM)
Will do...sorry for the inconvenience..They're working hard to iron out the "bugs"..
norm (palm springs ca)
Mark, JPM is good for NASCAR, I think he might get booed like JJ and Jeff cause he is not the (old )standard mold, my 2 cents.
Mark Garrow (3:57 PM)
Could be...I like the color he brings..If can win an oval race then he'll be really fun..or if he makes the Chase..He'll have nothing to lose and will be a load to deal with.
Ken (Hendersonville)
Mark: Repeat after me ....I do not trust Robby Gordon...I will not use Robby Gordon again because I can not trust him.and lastly, sometimes I ought to listen to Ken's predictions about Robby Gordon.
Mark Garrow (3:58 PM)
You're preaching to the choir brother!
malibu barbie (p'cola florida)
any inside info on where truex will go? or if petty will stay dodge?[people commenting on my picture? lol, i post comments on lots of these espn boards and have never had one before, NASCAR guys have good taste!]
Mark Garrow (3:59 PM)
Truex is said to be going to take over for Michael Waltrip, but I can see him going to Stewart for third team there...as for the picture..Now I'm really curious to see it...lol...
Mark Garrow (4:00 PM)
Got to run folks..don't forget back at it 10:00 Sunday morning from NH...until then have a great week and may the force be with you...The Guru has left the building!
