Chat with Ellis Hobbs
Ellis Hobbs played the first four years of his career in New England.
Hobbs was drafted by the New England Patriots in the third rounds of the 2005 draft. He has nine career interceptions, including three in 2008. In 2007, the Iowa State product set the record for the longest kickoff return with a 108-yard TD run.
The Patriots traded Hobbs to the Eagles on the second day of the 2009 NFL draft. In Philadelphia, he'll be reunited with former teammate Asante Samuel in the defensive backfield.
Send your questions now and join Hobbs on Tuesday at 12:45 p.m. ET!

billy (glenside)
what do you think will be your biggest challenge in Philly?
Ellis Hobbs (12:48 PM)
I'd say getting used to the four-dollar toll way coming from New Jersey every day.
Ryan (Philly)
How do you like our chances at finally winning it all this season??
Ellis Hobbs (12:48 PM)
I like them good. We're loaded with talent and all we have to do is put it together.
Steven (NJ)
What is your relationship with Asante Samuel?
Ellis Hobbs (12:49 PM)
Everyone portrays it negatively because we're different styles of player, but we're actually good friends.
Will (Baltimore)
Do you have any ill feelings to the Pats for trading you?
Ellis Hobbs (12:49 PM)
Somewhat. I just think as far as PR went, I wasn't put out there like I felt I should have been.
Ellis Hobbs (12:50 PM)
As far as the winning and the coaches, no, I didn't have any ill feelings.
Steven (NJ)
Who is the toughest WR to cover?
Ellis Hobbs (12:50 PM)
Marvin Harrison. He runs all his routes the exact same way.
Steve (Philly)
Hey Ellis, are you going to be returning kicks this year or will you just be focused on shutting receivers down
Ellis Hobbs (12:51 PM)
That's the million-dollar question right there. I would like to, if I can still be successful at it, but we would have to see, depending on the status.
Kyle (Denver)
Were you surprised to hear that you'd been traded on draft day?
Ellis Hobbs (12:52 PM)
Surprised only because I didn't expect it to happen so soon. I knew I was leaving, I just didn't know when.
Steven (NJ)
Who were your favorite players growing up?
Ellis Hobbs (12:53 PM)
I didn't get to watch him personally, but Walter Payton. I know him because my dad used to work out with him and his brother Eddie. I admired him the most because I got all his workout tapes.
jake (austin)
Ellis, what are you expectations as a player this year and which receiver are you looking forward to lining up agains the most this year?
Ellis Hobbs (12:54 PM)
I don't like to set expectations because I feel like they're limitations. Probably the receiver I'm looking forward to facing the most is not necessarily a receiver, but a quarterback...Matt Cassel. He was my teammate and I'm looking forward to playing against him.
George (New Jersey)
Ellis, what have you liked most about the Eagles and Philadelphia since joining the team and taking part in mini-camps?
Ellis Hobbs (12:55 PM)
It's a very easy environment and it makes you want to work that much better, because the environment is very comfortable.
Dan (San Diego)
What is the biggest challenge being an NFL professional?
Ellis Hobbs (12:55 PM)
Living two lives...a football life and then living a family life, because you can't bring football home.
steve (mississippi)
Do you think anyone will get another 108 yard return any time soon? Do you like having that record?
Ellis Hobbs (12:56 PM)
Never. I don't think anyone will every do that again...you literally would have to be out of bounds to go further.
Steven (NJ)
How difficult was it to see David Tyree make the catch?
Ellis Hobbs (12:57 PM)
It hurt. It hurt because after that catch, inside, I just felt like everything was going their way and they couldn't be stopped.
Steven (NJ)
What is your favorite stadium to play in?
Ellis Hobbs (12:58 PM)
The best one I've played in is Texas Stadium, because that's in my hometown. Now that I'm in the division, I get to go into Jerry's World and see that new one.
Ellis Hobbs (1:00 PM)
I appreciate the questions. Thank you for all of them!
