Chat with MLG's Dynasty
Welcome to SportsNation! On Friday, Major League Gaming player, Len Green aka Dynasty, will stop by to chat about his experience in the MLG.
Green is the 2008 EA Sports Madden Challenge Champion. Last year, "Dynasty" emerged as one of the best Madden players in the world after stellar performances resulting in a runner-up finish in ESPN's Madden Nation and a first place finish in the EA Sports Madden Challenge. Dynasty is here!
Mike (New Jersey)
Are you excited about the new deal between EA and MLG?
Dynasty (4:01 PM)
Yes, I'm really excited. The Madden community has been waiting for MLG to pick up Madden for years now. It's going to make the Madden community bigger and get us on that platform.
Anthony Reis (Cranston, RI)
Who is your favorite player to use in madden on offense and defense?
Dynasty (4:02 PM)
My favorite player for years has been Randy Moss on offense. You just can't guard him. I don't think there's any guy in the game that can guard him 1 on 1. Defensive-wise, I would have to say Cromartie from the Chargers. He's one of the best CBs in the NFL. He had one of the best years two years ago. I used him a lot in Madden '08. He was the only kryptonite to Moss in '08.
Calvin (Dallas, Tx)
Hey Dynasty I was wondering is the Xbox 360 and Ps3 Madden the same or will you be able to translate your game to the Ps3?
Dynasty (4:03 PM)
Well, before the MLG movement to PS3, I have not been playing on the PS3. But I've been playing now. From what I've seen, the gameplay is the same. It's just a different controller. I don't think it will be a big change.
What are your expectations for Madden '10 and do you think Madden will get bigger in the coming years?
Dynasty (4:05 PM)
My expectations are very high after playing the demo. THe gameplay seems smooth. The graphics are amazing. It's just amazing how far the gameplay and graphics have come since Madden '99 and '98. Just imagine it in the coming years.
i stink at madden any tips how to get better?
Dynasty (4:06 PM)
First, what I would do is go into practice mode. I would probably play with the best team in the game, which is the Steelers. Go and call every play and look at the plays, the way the players react. The way they move on certain routes. The same thing on the defense. The way the players move on defense. Look at the playbooks. THe teams. To be a good player, you have to look outside the box.
Gary (Broward, Florida)
How did you become so good? How many hours do you put in?
Dynasty (4:07 PM)
I play about 8 hours a day when Madden comes out. The first day I get the game, I don't sleep for about 3 days, maybe 4. After that, I play about 8 hours a day, practicing online.
You had an amazing run in the Madden Challenge by being in the elimination game many times and coming up with wins, how do you think this will relate to the MLG Bracket System?
Dynasty (4:08 PM)
I really don't think it will relate that much. On the TV show I was on, it was assigned teams you had to play with, assigned playbooks. I don't think it will be that much. In Dallas, I can use my own team, my own playbooks and go from there.
do you like the college football to or do yoou just like madden
Dynasty (4:09 PM)
I don't dislike the college football game, but I'm just not into the whole college plays and atmosphere. I like the pro teams and knowing all the players. I will play it from time to time, but not like I play Madden.
Anthony Brinson (New Jersey)
How was it playing for the final game for 100,000 dollars in front of all those people in Times Square, NY?!
Dynasty (4:10 PM)
It was amazing. It was the best feeling I have ever felt in my whole life before I played. I have never been that nervous. There were so many people there. It was the most hyped up Madden Nation game. Being in the heart of New York City, it was crazy.
David (Athens, GA)
What other games do you enjoy?
Dynasty (4:10 PM)
From time to time I like to play Halo, Gears of War, Kill Zone 2 on the PS3. I like Major League Baseball 2K. I like NBA 2K. That's about it.
Dynasty (4:11 PM)
I'm not really good at any other game except for Madden.
Nathan (St. Louis )
what is your favorite team to be in madden
Dynasty (4:12 PM)
My favorite team from Madden '09 is the Cowboys. Their defense was so good in the game. They had hard hitting LBs and CBs that caused turnovers. Their offense on paper was amazing. They were stacked on each side of the ball. As far as Madden '10, I don't know. I've been thinking about the Steelers, Eagles, Raiders, but I don't know until I play the game.
John Le Capitaine (Green Bay, WI)
I know a lot of trash talk goes on in the Madden world. Deep down do you guys have respect for each other when you guys are "off the controllers"?
Dynasty (4:12 PM)
Yeah. The Madden community, we're all like a big family. It's all love after the game. The trash talking is about getting the person out of their game. Deep down we have respect for each other. It's nothing but love.
Gary (Browad, florida)
How did you get on the show?
Dynasty (4:13 PM)
Madden Nation, I was able to get on because I made my name on Madden '08 by going to local tournaments and the Madden Challenge. No one knew who I was, but I kept making a name for myself. I made such a noise thatt the producers of the show heard about me through the grapevine and invited me to be on the show.
Do you agree rocket catching is a glitch/cheat?
Dynasty (4:15 PM)
I wouldn't say it's a glitch, because it can be stopped. I don't think it's a cheat because it can be stopped. While some people will do it from time to time, there are people that base their offense around it. You just have to find the defenses that can stop it. There are ways to stop it, so I wouldn't consider it a glitch or a cheat.
What keeps you on top of ya game ? Who do you lab with and why havent they won as many tournaments as you ? lol
Dynasty (4:15 PM)
Just staying sharp. Practicing all the time. Staying on point. Going to tournaments. Keeping my mind right.
What advice would give someone trying to get on the tournament scene?
Dynasty (4:16 PM)
Just ask around. There are tournaments everywhere. New Jersey, Philly, Ohio, Texas, Florida, everywhere. THere's a huge Madden community out there. Just get online, ask around. That's how I got started and got introduced to the Madden scene.
Andrew (Denver, Colorado)
When did you start playing Madden? When did you cross that bridge from being a casual player to a dominant player?
Dynasty (4:17 PM)
I started playing Madden in like Madden '99. I didn't start playing hardcore online until Madden '05. Then I crossed over into being a dominant player until Madden '07. I didn't know about the tournaments. I was just playing online at home. But once I heard about it, I started with the tournaments.
Dynasty (4:18 PM)
Wish me luck in Dallas. I want to repeat. It's never been done before in Madden CHallenge history. So with me luck out in Dallas!
