Chat with Rod Woodson
Welcome to SportsNation! On Thursday, former NFL cornerback and 2009 NFL Hall of Fame inductee Rod Woodson stops by the 'Nation to chat about his efforts to help men overcome their fears about visiting doctors and putting an end to prostate cancer.
Woodson is working on The Depend Campaign to End Prostate Cancer. As an African American, Woodson is at an increased risk for prostate cancer, so this year at age 44, he will receive his first prostate cancer screening.
Woodson spent 17 seasons in the NFL playing with four different teams. He ended his career leading the league in career interceptions returned for touchdowns (12) and interception return yards (1,483).
Send your questions now and join Woodson on Thursday at 2 p.m. ET!

Rod Woodson (1:58 PM)
Hi, I'm here!
Hakim (Newark, NJ)
How did you get involved with "The Depend Campaign to End Prostate Cancer"?
Rod Woodson (2:00 PM)
It was brought to me and after researching I saw the staggering numbers that 1 in 6 men will have prostate cancer and 1 in 4 African American men will have this particular cancer. Those stats are what made me want to get involved.
Michael (Baltimore, MD)
Why do you think the African American community is so afraid to see a doctor? Especially for cancer screenings.
Rod Woodson (2:01 PM)
Great question. I don't think it's just African American men, I thin it's all men. I believe that most men are scared of the unknown.
Chris (Bothell WA)
Just wanted to say I think your a class act. Glad to see you make the HOF well deserved. What do you consider your favorite game you ever played in?
Rod Woodson (2:02 PM)
That's a good one Chris. I believe it was in 1993 against the New Orleans Saints. I had two picks that I returned for touchdowns. The game was in slow motion for me the entire game.
SprungOnSports (Long Island)
What is the football accomplishment you're most proud of?
Rod Woodson (2:04 PM)
Outside of the Hall of Fame, being named to the 75th Anniversary Team which happened after my seventh year in the NFL.
Logan (Virginia)
Hey Rod what is it like to be a Hall of Famer
Rod Woodson (2:05 PM)
Not much has changed. I still have to take the garbage out and clean my house. The only difference is, is that I do it all in my yellow jacket.
Mark H. (Detroit, MI)
Rod, you are an all time great! Who was the toughest receiver you've ever had to cover?
Rod Woodson (2:06 PM)
The toughest receiver that I had to face yearly was Webster Slaughter of the Cleveland Browns.
Mike (San Fran)
Rod, what was the best team you ever played on?
Rod Woodson (2:07 PM)
That's a hard question Mike. If you go purely off awards, then I'll have to say the Baltimore Ravens because we won the Super Bowl in 2000.
Shayne - NY [via mobile]
Rod... Who was the most influential teammate you learned from in your early years as an NFL player? Thanks and congrats on making it in the HOF!
Rod Woodson (2:09 PM)
Donnie Shell. He taught me how to be a true professional on and off the field.
Jabbar Houston,TX [via mobile]
Congrats Rod, what is ur funniest training camp or any pro story that you can share with us
Rod Woodson (2:09 PM)
A lot of them I can't repeat! (Laughing)
Rod Woodson (2:10 PM)
I can't think of just one but there have been many of times when we've we taped rookies to the goal post, shaved heads, and hid cars.
Jeremy P. (Columbus, OH)
Which of the four cities you played in had a better atmosphere?
Rod Woodson (2:11 PM)
I would say Pittsburgh. The Steeler Nation is strong throughout the county.
Bob (Boston, MA)
who would you like to have an interception agianst now?
Rod Woodson (2:12 PM)
I'm going to go with ELi Manning. That ball will be worth a lot of money since he's worth a lot of money.
Brandon Keslar (Florida)
Rod I am a huge fan of yours!!!! I was wondering. Is it more difficult playing safety then crnerback or vise versa?
Rod Woodson (2:13 PM)
I think they both have there challenges but I think corner is more challenging down in and down out.
Matt (Pittsburgh)
If you could change one thing about your career, what would it be and why? Congrats by the way!
Rod Woodson (2:14 PM)
Honestly Matt, I wouldn't change anything. My career unfolded because of everything that has happened to me.
Xander (Philly)
Who do you consider the best DB right now?
Rod Woodson (2:17 PM)
You have to separate the safeties from the corners. Nnamdi Asomugha from the Oakland Raiders is the best corner. The two best safeties in the league today are Troy Polamalu from the Pittsburgh Steelers and Ed Reed of the the Baltimore Ravens.
Mike (Ohio)
If you needed a QB to win the big game for your team, who would you choose?
Rod Woodson (2:18 PM)
Out of the present quarterbacks in the league I would choose Tom Brady. He is cool, calm and collective in all situations.
Rod Woodson (2:19 PM)
Enjoyed it and I shall talk to you in the near future!
