Walshy is here!
Collin (Singapore)
People have always criticized Naded's team-play, what is your response to that and will we see a changed Naded in Dallas?
Walshy (3:58 PM)
I definitely think you'll see a changed Naded in Dallas. He's very comfortable with us. Before he was on teams that he wasn't comfortable with.
Alex P. (Ypsilanti, MI)
Can we expect more trash talk during interviews like at Toronto last season?
Walshy (3:58 PM)
If the matchups go like they were supposed to, I got a few pages written down in the notepad already. I'll have a novel ready before the tournament.
Teslaz (Finland)
hola! How have u prepared for Dallas besides gaming online?
Walshy (3:59 PM)
I've actually been preparing more physically. I've been running a lot. Eating a lot healthier. Taking better care of myself.
brian (Ireland)
dave are you getting a bit sick of people now talking and suggesting that your the weak link on a team and do you feel you have to prove yourself as a top player again to shut these noobs up!!! your a legend in my eyes goodluck with carbon
Walshy (4:00 PM)
I definitely feel like I have to reassert myself as a top player in Halo 3. I guess I might have shown a little of that in Columbus. I have my drive back. I want to win. Without a doubt Dallas will by my best event in Halo 3.
Com3back (Pensacola, FL)
Hey Walshy. What are some things you're doing to improve your game and chemistry with this new Carbon?
Walshy (4:01 PM)
A lot of it is just going over films and talking a lot over game types and strategy. I think we have practiced as much if not more than every top team out there between this and Columbus. I feel more prepared.
Alex P. (New Jersey)
How is Kianeto coming along, and do you plan to expand to make it a house hold name?
Walshy (4:02 PM)
Definitely. That's always been the goal. Actually, just recently, we got a few new links. You can go WalshyWear.com, that's easier for people to get the link. We're always expanding. We're happy to make good clothes that people like to wear.
joseph perione (brooklyn , new york)
Is there an sacrifices you had to make to become an mlg pro player
Walshy (4:03 PM)
Definitely a huge balance with my social life. It seems like at times when I've struggled over the past year, I've been focused more on my social life than my career. Now, leading up to Dallas and Columbus, I rarely hang out with my friends. It's a sacrifice that I have to make and I hang out with them as much as I can. But I wouldn't trade this job for anything.
John (Virginia Beach)
How do you plan to defeat Str8 Rippin? What is it like teaming with your old rival?
Walshy (4:04 PM)
Planning to defeat Rippin, a lot will be controlling Snipedown and making sure he doesn't get easy kills. On top of that, I think we can't just go try and go kill for kill. We have to plan on using the no show guy as a distraction and killing the rest of the team.
Bob (Indiana)
Do you feel you were better at Halo 2 than Halo 3? Why, or why not?
Walshy (4:05 PM)
Without a question, I was much more dominant in Halo 2 for different reasons. Halo 3, I feel like I just haven't put in as much time. There is a much larger field of players now. And it's harder to have the drive over so many years. But I have it back and I'm really excited for Dallas.
Dan (Pennsylvania)
Have you considered to be a future commentator for MLG? I personally think you would be better than ghandi! But, no one can top Pucket! He's the best.
Walshy (4:06 PM)
I'm sure when I'm done competing, I'll stay involved in the scene. I'm not sure if commentating is in the plans or working with the league in some way. If I get to be on Sirius Satellite Radio and get to swear, maybe like that.
Leigh (Toronto )
Walshy how has your individual skill changed since you have joined carbon, have you been getting the practice you want and how has the addition of naded added to your team. Do you see yourself as a top 4 contender? Good luck at dallas ill be at mainstage cheering you on bro.
Walshy (4:06 PM)
I've definitely put in a lot more individual games in. I feel like it's just been more of a personal level, taking care of myself physically.
Glenn (Toronto ON)
How does it feel playing alongside longtime rival Shockwave?
Walshy (4:07 PM)
Don't tell him, but I still talk a bunch of trash behind his back. It's still a little iffy....just kidding. He's a fun guy. He's a good guy.
Michael K. (Albany, Ca)
What initiated your drive to play video games competitively? Also what is/was the team you had most fun playing with?
Walshy (4:08 PM)
Wizard. The movie Wizard....I don't know. It's always been a big hobby of mine. Once I saw Fatility did it, it inspired me to pursue my dream.
Alexander (Long Beach Ca)
how's the team work going with carbon? do you feel more comfortable being on carbon then on instinct?
Walshy (4:09 PM)
I definitely feel much more comfortable on this Carbon than the recent Instinct. On the previous Instinct with Soviet, I felt like it was a much more chill team. Neighbor, as skilled as he is can be a positive for the team or a negative with his attitude. He can be a double-edged sword.
Teslaz (Finland)
I was wondering how ur average day is as pro gamer?
Walshy (4:10 PM)
The week leading up to a tournament, I would say we put in time like a full time job - 40 hours a week. Team practice, practicing yourself, watching film. For me, I play all the time, fall asleep playing.
Sean (Kennewick (WA))
Being an "older" gamer myself (25) do you think your reaction time has been affected over time, and if so, do you think your decision making has improved to compensate?
Walshy (4:12 PM)
I first thought that, but I felt that it was me not being so physical. For a while, I considered bowling the best sport and the only sport out there. I was doing that 3-4 times a week. But at the same time, I was drinking beer. But now I'm taking better care of myself. I think it's been proven in sports, that they can compete if their body is in good enough shape.
IceLANd CE (Spokane, WA)
What advice would you give to a young talent in the league that isn't on a top 16 team?
Walshy (4:13 PM)
It is hard to get yourself on there and on a team especially on Halo 3. Another suggestion would be to find people you're comfortable with and people that you work with well. Picking up someone that has a little better of a shot and it seems like it would work well on paper, but if you don't work well together it doesn't work.
Tyler H. (Las Vegas)
Where exactly would you place yourself gameplay-wise on Carbon? On Instinct, you always seemed more like a quarterback and mental support. Is it the same on Carbon, or is the agressive Walshy making a come-back?
Walshy (4:14 PM)
Ideally, I would like to be supporting Naded where he is sniping, because he's consistent. I'm going into this tournament very confident. I think we'll be seeing an "older" Walshy from the past, not as in I'm an old 25 now.
Walshy (4:16 PM)
I'll put it out there that I will wear a shirt that says Final Boss was right or they can have it say whatever they want if Final Boss beats us. I'll wear it the moment they beat us.
Walshy (4:16 PM)
Thanks to the fans. See you in Dallas.
