Liam (12:01 PM)
Hello again, Let's get it going.Liam
Mark Thomashow (Nikeville)
1. What happens to bobbleheads once they retire from the show? Do they have a decent pension program?2. Which bobblehead holds the consecutive show record?3. What Brazilian football players have had their bobbleheads on the show?4. Will the Premier League ever institute a salary cap or luxury tax to even the playing field , or is that a particularly American perspective of equal opportunities for all teams?5. Why do the guys never? seldom? diss on you the way they did on Scott Shapiro , Stats or other lesser luminaries? Is it because they know you are the source of all wisdom soccer wise on the show?6. When are you going to have Spike Lee as a guest commentator?
Liam (12:03 PM)
Hi Mark. Thanks for the question. All of our bobble heads are still on the active roster. Only if one breaks does it retire from the show, then it goes in the trash. I don't think there will be a salary cap in the Premier League each time UEFA brings it up the Prem suits shoot it down. Mike and Mike don't diss me because I don't deserve it have you seen Shaprio? and have you listen to some of the stuff Stats says?
John Collins (CT)
Hi Liam. I am a Everton FC follower and i went on vacation to England and went to the Everton vs Arseneal game which they lost 6 - 1. They finally sold Lescott for 24 million. there are rumors about steven taylor from New Castle or Robert Huth from Middlesbourough or even Phillipe Senderos from Arseneal. What do u think they should do?
Liam (12:05 PM)
Hi John.Everton also lost yesterday to Burnley. Saha missed a PK, didn't even get it on target. I would take Taylor over Huth and Senderos. Huth is always injured and Senderos stinks. They need to get someone back there to help Tim Howard.
Mark Thomashow (Nikeville)
â?? Why are women bobbleheads under represented? â??
Liam (12:06 PM)
You seem to have an obsession with our bobbleheads Mark. We are at the mercy of what bobbleheads people send us. If not one sends us female bobbleheads we can't put them on the desk...
Zack (ohio)
liam, when will your mum make her nfl predictions of the year
Liam (12:06 PM)
Hi Zack.Mum will probably call in the week before the season. She's having some well deserved time off during the summer.
Steve (Albuquerque)
Liam,Chelsea didn't make too many moves this off season, but still looks to be in great shape to win the Premier League this season. Do you think they can get it done?
Liam (12:08 PM)
Hi Steve.I think Chelsea have mantained their squad very well while Man U lost Ronaldo, Liverpool lost Alonso and Arsenal lost Adebayor and Toure. The other 3 from the top 4 lost very important players and Chelsea did not. That plus I've always felt Chelsea has had the best squad all along. Now it's between Man City and Chelsea for best squad...
Mark (New York)
What's your favorite drop to use on the show and why? Also, who the heck cut your hair?
Liam (12:10 PM)
My favorite drops are the "I thank you" from Austin Powers, the "Giddegy Gigedy goo" from Quamire, the Stink "oh you stud" and of course the porn bed. It's been so hot here in CT that I needed to cut my hair. It'll grow back. Thanks for noticing.
Tom Fukuyama (CT)
Arguably, the US had their best win and showing in the Confederations Cup not only beating Spain but also having a good showing against Brazil. But let's not forget that they barely got there and then they got routed by Mexico in the Gold Cup.Should US Soccer be getting any respect or was it simply a fluke and we shouldn't be holding our breath?
Liam (12:12 PM)
Hi Tom.I think US Soccer should be getting a little bit of respect but not too much. The US played well in the Confed Cup against strong looking Spanish and Brazilian teams so once the US qualifies for the World Cup I think you'll do well. It all depends on what group you are drawn into. Things are looking better than the last time around.
Hunter (Maryland)
Were the Reds wrong to let Sami go on a free? I know hindsight is 20/20 but with Agger's injury history, needing some cover in the back seemed likely.
Liam (12:14 PM)
They should have made him player/coach but he wanted to get some playing time and he knew he was 4th choice at best. It was his decision not the teams. I wish we still had him. Hopefully the new Greek signing Sotirios Kyrgiakos can fill Sami's boots.
John Duffy (New York)
Do you think (as I do) that the loss of Xabi Alonso will have a serious impact on Liverpool's title chase?
Liam (12:16 PM)
Yes I do, big time. He was like the QB of the team and it worked so well and allowed Gerrard to play behind Torres. You could see in the Spurs match because no one was spreading the ball about like Alonso would Gerrard had to drop back to do that and it left Torres up top all on his own. A huge loss for LFC.
Dylan (PA)
who are the goal scorers today
Liam (12:17 PM)
Gerrard and Torres who else? Myabe Kuyt? 2-0 Liverpool
Brian (Washington DC)
Liam, tune in every day to Mike and Mike.. your mom rocks! Spurs have started off very well this year. Do you seem them challenging for a place in the top 4?
Liam (12:19 PM)
Hi Brian.Thank you.If their back line can stay healthy they could be in with a shot. I'm not too sure about Gomes in goal though. Going forward they look very good.
Tomwit NJ [via mobile]
What does Manchester United look like this year?
Liam (12:20 PM)
Hi Tomwit.Man Utd look good this year they'll be near to top of table again at the end. The loss of Ronaldo is huge for them. With Ronaldo I bet they wouldn't have lost to Burnley
Matt (Philadelphia)
Brazil-Spain final in South Africa next summer?
Liam (12:21 PM)
Let's not count out England!
jim (annapolis md)
Best pair: Torres Gerrard; Cristiano Ronaldo Kaka; Xavi Messi?
Liam (12:24 PM)
What about Drogba-Anelka? Haven't seen too much from Kaka-Ronaldo yet but how can they not be good. Xavi-Messi are always impressive but they have other really good players around them. Torres-Gerrard really is a twosome. That's a tough call. Being a Liverpool fan I'll take Torres and Gerrard
Hunter (Maryland)
I read that Skrtel "cracked" jaw. The new lad at the back makes me nervous. Any ideas of who can play alongside Carra as Agger is out too ?
Liam (12:24 PM)
Liverpool just signed a Greek player Sotirios Kyrgiakos. Rumor is he'll start today with Carragher.
Daniel (PA)
Do you think Liverpool still needs a complementary striker to work with Torres? Or are Gerrard, Kuty, Benayoun, etc. enough to provide the offense needed to win this year?
Liam (12:27 PM)
I would have liked another option but we have no money so we'll have to make do with Kuyt, Benayoun, Voronin, Ngog and Babel. I don't have too much confidence in the last 3 names on that list. In other words if Gerrard and/or Torres gets injured like last year, Liverpool are in trouble.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Same England that didn't make it last go around?
Liam (12:28 PM)
Yes, we can blame that McClaren. Now we're 7-0 in qualifying and have a real manager.
Tone (Seattle)
I just wanted to gloat. Spurs top of the table!
Liam (12:29 PM)
They've looked very good so far Tone.
Liam (12:31 PM)
Ok guys it's 12:30 so chatting time is over. Gotta go get ready for tomorrow's show before I go home and watch Liverpool take on Villa.I'll be doing a chat every other Monday at noon so I hope to see you all again. Thanks for the questions.Liam
