Buzzmaster (10:00 AM)
Gooooooooooood morning!
Christian (High Point, NC)
Meeting at 10 so I think I'll miss the chat today. Everyone have a great Tuesday. Lunch is Popcorn Shrimp Salad.
Scott (Brewtown)
Nice of Tom Brady to make Suzy Kolber chase him all over the field to try to get a question in after the game. Class act, the Brady.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Right on time today, Buzz. I'm impressed.
Fat Institute (McDonald's Parking Lot)
Buzzmaster, we would like your brain and spinal tissue after you die. We assume you'll die from heart disease or a heart attack.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Good morning, folks! Hope everyone's having a good one so far.
Kanye West (Chicago)
Juan Martin, you are good and all, but Roger Federer is one of the greatest players of all time.
Dave Tallahassee, FL [via mobile]
Hello everyone.
Ryan (San Diego)
So tired
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Just to show I can dish out praise as well as criticism, solid chat schedule yesterday and equally solid today, Buzz.
Buzzmaster (10:02 AM)
Like an abused puppy, I'll take it.
tim (sc)
did u think the catch the raiders made that was over turned last night should have been ruled incomplete?
Neal (Philly)
Federer finally lost a grand slam to someone other than Nadal!
Buzzmaster (10:03 AM)
Forget football and tennis, the news of the day was Patrick Swayze's passing. Turrible news.
Cory (PA)
So tired, Ryan? The last game was in your pop-collared time zone
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
12 o's Buzz? Thats got to be a record.
Buzzmaster (10:03 AM)
You really are the new generation's Steinmerms, aren't you?
Neal (Philly)
If you field a kickoff about 5 yards deep in the endzone, it's probably best to just kneel.
Ryan (San Diego)
Tim, the rule is you have to keep possession to the ground so that was clearly the correct call
PETA (Everywhere)
What's this about abused puppies?
Scott (Brewtown)
Day #16 of nothing but sunshine and at least 80 degrees. September has been a gret improvement over August.
Serena (NY)
Listen, Buzz. You better post my comment or I'm going to come over there and shove this ball right up your....And don't pay any attention to the fact that I was getting waxed in that match anyhow.
Tom (West Loop)
My news of the day? I went to a class yesterday and it didn't suck.
Dalton (via mobile in heaven)
Buzz I just wanted to add one more thing: I thought you'd be bigger, but apparently that's impossible.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Week 1 of the MB FFL in the books. I was the high scorer for the week. I will revel in this as it most likely will not happen again.
Ryan (San Diego)
Well by the time the game is over at 10:30 and the way it ended, my adrenaline is goin, it's pretty hard to fall asleep
Clay (Charlotte)
Morning Buzz, RIP Swayze.
JB (TX)
Yup, RIP Swayze, an H-Town native.
ray (nola)
what about them call the ref was making last nite man it seem like the NBA
Trevor (Texas)
YEAH TUESDAY! Good Morning SN!
Jack (NB Canada)
AT least Brady didn't try and kiss her.
Cory (PA)
Get your calendar ready for a day of Dirty Dancing, Ghost, Roadhouse, Red Dawn on AMC. And then To Wong Fu on Bravo.
Buzzmaster (10:05 AM)
Four classic movies. Was there a better 80's actor?
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
Buzz, in honor of Patrick Swayze passing, top 3 Swayze movie:1- Point break, 2- Red Dawn, 3- Roadhouse
Matt (IN)
Good morning. That is turribull about Swayze. Oh and McKelvin is an idiot.
Vick (Indiana)
I'm too sick to go to class today and I like my classes this semester.
P Swayze (Pearly Gates)
I had the time of my life.
Nate (Madison)
I think I feel a head cold coming. Not cool...not cool at all.
willnbama (alabama)
qs why was it a td for the pats but the same pass caught was not a td for OK
Buzzmaster (10:06 AM)
I don't even know how to answer that question.
Clay (Charlotte)
By the way, I have it from a reliable source that the rumor going around UF campus is that every time Tenn scores the Florida students are going to sing Rocky Top.
Buzzmaster (10:06 AM)
Silent student section this weekend?
Vick (Indiana)
That's what I have Nate. Either that or a sinus infection.
Jeremy (Boston)
No, the move was to bring the ball out of the EndZone to take up the two minute warning (otherwise NE essentially has 4 Timeouts).......the problem is JUST GO DOWN....
Vick (Indiana)
RIP Patrick Swayze. Love Dirty Dancing and Point Break.
Trevor (Texas)
RIP Swayze...Road House=classic '80s movie.
Nate (Madison)
Better 80's actor? Ummmm Bill Murray?
Buzzmaster (10:07 AM)
Yeah, that's a good choice too.
Dalton (Road House)
Pain don't hurt.
chaz (sa tx)
idk willnbama but u rite wrs thn i du
Buzzmaster (10:07 AM)
That made me laugh.
Steve (NJ)
Buzz, I left my secret decoder ring at home. What the heck is 'willnbama' talkin' bout, Willis?
Matt (IN)
Red Dawn and Roadhouse are my 2 favorites.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Swayze fought right to the end too. I really thought he might beat that stuff.
Scott (Brewtown)
Swine Flu!!!! Run for your lives!
Neal (Philly)
Welcome back Jeff Garcia! Now, someone please get rid of Kolb.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Harrison Ford had a pretty solid 80's if I remeber correctly.
Cory (PA)
Oh Lordy! The Swine Flu has hit the Morning Buzz! I need Purell STAT!
Clay (Charlotte)
Sorry, I meant everytime Florida scores...my bad.
Vick (Indiana)
I also like The Outsiders
Jeremy (Boston)
Farley better dancer than Swayze....RIP Both.
willnbama (alabama)
no it was the same catch the pats made for a TD
chaz (sa tx)
GO WOLVERINES!!!!!!
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
Eddie Murphy has some pretty good movie in the 80's
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
Sorry I'm late. I will assume I didn't miss anything important yesterday.
Matt (Worcester,MA)
good morning sportsnation
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Ryan: I saw the WR land with two feet and possession with another half step. I thought it was a TD all the way. Possession to the ground should not matter in the end zone especially when the rule there is you just need to have possession when the ball crosses the goal line. Just take your win and remember in part how you got it the next time you want to berate the referees.
Mike (Texas)
Point Break.. Swayze and Reeves, surf cops and robbers.
Nate (Madison)
Indiana Jones 5 will be in the works. Ford said he's in if the script is put together well. Also a 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean is also a go.
Neal (Philly)
Robbi, or today, tomorrow, the day after that, etc
Matt (IN)
Didn't Road House come out in the 90s? I can't remember and I'm too lazy to look it up.
Matt Damon (at Buzz's PLace)
Nobody puts buzz in a corner....
Steve (NJ)
Buzz, can we get Federer in here so I can ask him why he gave away a 6th US Open in a row? If he'd tied a bow on it, he couldn't have given it away nicer.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Steve Guttenberg made quite a run in the 80s. Bill Murray also a solid decade of work there. Also Chevy Chase come to think of it. Swayze was good in the 80s but hard to say best.
Stephanie (Cincy)
Going to the gym today. Playing hookey from work. Keep the faith.
Marc (Charlotte)
I bet Ryan was popping his collar when Sproles scored late.
Steve (NJ)
Um, Tom Cruise was pretty big in the 80's....
stephanie (cincy)
"Ghost" was such a cornball movie but also one of the biggest tear jerkers.
Steve (NJ)
(Working from home today, pulls out DVD) - Roadhouse released in 1989
tim (myrtle beach)
that catch the raiders got overturtned was rediculousit so was a catch... i saw other td's that looked even shakier and they never questioned it... freakin bs... i hope the raiders won that game!
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
Pirates of the Caribbean oh wow. I love Johnny Depp, him being a KY guy and all.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Good news: Football is back. Bad news: That also means people bitching about the referees are back, too.
chaz (sa tx)
being a cowboy fan and roy williams fan ( the safety) i am happy to see him gone. he did what he does best in cincy. blow coverage and lose the game. if it wasnt for him cincy could have won that game if he had gone for the ball instead of for the big hit.
Ryan (San Diego)
JB, as Calhoun would say, get your facts straight. I dont make the rules, the NFL does. ANY time a WR falls to the ground with the ball no matter where they are on the field they HAVE to keep possession of the ball. Why do you think when WRs catch the ball and tiptoe the sideline they have to hold on to the ball when they fall to the ground. ITS THE RULE
Jim (Del)
I heard nix on a 4th pirates movie. Kiera Knightly has other contractual obligations. Am I the only one who thinks this girl is gorgeous?
stephanie (cincy)
I am at work, and NOT going to the gym.
chaz (sa tx)
Ghost: "Ditto"
Steve (NJ)
Ghost was cornball, but Dirty Dancing was the epitome of 'believable' cinema.
Clay (Charlotte)
You have Roadhouse on DVD? You know it's on TNT like 4 times a week.
Trevor (Texas)
Arnold and Stallone were also good 80s actors.
Scott (Brewtown)
I told you guys a year and ahalf ago what the next INdy Jones movie was gonna be called: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Long Term Care, with guest appearances by Jack Nicolson, Mel Gibson, Sly Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Buzzmaster (10:13 AM)
I don't recall that Senator.
Vick (Indiana)
Dirty Dancing is the only chick flick I have in my dvd collection
Tom (West Loop)
Harrison Ford has to be the best actor of the 80s between the Star Wars movies and Indiana Jones movies.
Buzzmaster (10:16 AM)
Swayze seems to have more films that have cult-like followings. Some aren't bigtime blockbusters, but are classics now. I thought I had read that Dirty Dancing had mixed reviews. Red Dawn and Roadhouse weren't that big then, but are now. Ghost was obviously the biggest one.
Steve (NJ)
What I find sad is that in 20 years, the answer to 'who was the best actor in the 2000s?' is probably going to be a dead heat between Will Smith and Jake Gyllenhal.
Trevor (Texas)
Road House came out in 1989...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Never saw 'Roadhouse' or 'Red Dawn' so I can't comment on either. I didn't like 'Ghost' and got sick of 'Dirty Dancing' after a while. I liked Swayze in the film with Keanu Reeves though. What was it, 'Point Break?'
Marc (Charlotte)
What about Ralph Maccio? Karate Kid? Outsiders?... I'm kidding.
Buzz Jr (Buzz's House)
I told you....DON'T CALL ME JUNIOR!
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
Tom, let's not forget about Air Force One..."get off my plane"
the 80s (in bed)
Ummm, yeah, I'm trying to sleep here. I'm gonna go ahead and ask you to stop talking about me, mmmmk? Thaaaanks.
Trevor (Texas)
Russell Crowe best actor in the 2000s...
roy (brtistol, ct)
red dawn is real good
tom* (parkville, md)
Dirty Dancing had mixed reviews but it made a ton of money. It was the summer hit of whatever year it appeared.
Buzzmaster (10:18 AM)
Oh OK. Didn't know that.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Ryan has a lot to look forward to after that game last night. But still SD is all but guaranteed of 6 wins inside that division.
Gary (Memphis)
Stallone and Schwarzennegger were serviceable actors in the 80's But good is just your opinion
Jeremy (Boston)
Red Dawn is great.....but wouldn't be as good in today if you haven't seen it.
jeff (detroit)
the outsiders was the best swayze movie
Clinton (Indianapolis)
I also have never seen Red Dawn or Road House.
Donnell (Florida)
Giants showed in the Superbowl how to beat the Patriots offensive line and starting last year and continuing this year, teams will exploit their weakness
Mel Gibson (Retirement)
What about me? 'Gimme back my son!!!!
Jeremy (Boston)
All the actors in Outsiders turned out pretty well.
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
Swayze was with Keanu Reeves in 2 movies: Point Break and the underrated Youngblood, with Keanu providing most of the comedy by trying to talk with a turrible french accent
Nate (Madison)
With today's SFX, why hasn't anyone tried making a film on the Odyssey? Saw something on TV about it last night, I think it would be pretty sweet.
Matt (IN)
JB, Red Dawn doesn't play as good today because of how times have changed, but for its time it fit perfectly what with the whole Cold War thing.
Marc (Charlotte)
Keanu provides comedy no matter how he talks.
Trevor (Texas)
Stallone 1980s: Over the Top, First Blood, Night Hawks, Rocky III-IV, Rambo II-III, Tango
Vick (Indiana)
I've seen parts of Road House. I need to see that movie when it comes on again. Maybe it's one I can watch on my "on demand" feature on my digital cable.
Ryan (San Diego)
For those that think I make this stuff up. A player who goes to the ground in the process of attempting to secure possession of a loose ball (with or without contact by a defender) must maintain control of the ball after he touches the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone."If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, there is no possession. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, it is a catch, interception or recovery."
Marc (Charlotte)
The Soviets still hate us.
Steve (NJ)
Nate, did you see Troy? That's the Illiad. Notice how much it sucked?
Jack (NB Canada)
Thomas Cruise Mapother IV owned the 80's!
Steve (NJ)
Trevor, you missed Cobra. How you can ignore Stallone's 3rd best film (after Rocky and Serpico) is beyond me.
Joey (RutlandVt)
Ghost or point break best movies pat did,R.I.P
Tom (West Loop)
Ryan needs to let it go. The Chargers won the game. Nobody outside of Raider nation cares anymore.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Marc (Charlotte) Have you ever been to Russia? I have. Their are no more Soviets but the Russians LOVE us. Actually Russia now has one of the highest concentration of billionaires on the planet and import a TON of western culture.
Neal (Philly)
Tango
chaz (sa tx)
*agrees with ryan , just so that he drops it already.
Matt (Worcester,Ma)
Red Dawn is deffintly a classic
Scott (Brewtown)
We're all talking about 80's movies and Ryan throws in a tome about possession rules. And I wonder why I have this eye twitch.
Jack (NB Canada)
ONB?
Buzzmaster (10:22 AM)
Let's do it....
Leodis McKelvin (via mobile)
Buzz can't wait to join the chat. Let me move a few feet closer first *drops laptop*
Danny (Long island NY)
If the yankees lose in the playoffs who will they lose to??
RAY GORDON REID ( JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA 32277)
MY COMMENTAT10.50 NOW BUZZ LUNCH PUBLIX FRIED CHICKEN COKE
dave (bellingham)
am i missing something? why is espn not covering the touchdown that got overturned on replay? he had possession with two feet in the endzone! what more can you have? i don't get it! this seems like the blown call of the week, especially after the game was decided by those 4 points!
Tony (Newport Beach)
I just don't get how Matt Millen can be a football expert or analyst for ESPN (The greatest Sport Network). He is ultimatly the worst Gm in the history of all sports. His advice is proven to be bad. Makes no sense. Good Luck with that. Stewart Scott Rocks. Don't destory his show. Thanks.
Zach Rastall (Marinette, Wisconsin)
Wow, the Bills blew that game. But I have to give a ton of credit to Tom Brady. As always, he came through in a HUGE way. And GO PACK GO! Da Bears STILL suck!
jc (san jose, ca.)
wy did they take take the touchdown away before halftime of the RAIDER game monday night, that tured the whole game around, insted of 17-7, 17 10, 0r 17-14,v that call needs to be looked at...thank you!
josh Snelson, tulsa, oklahoma. [via mobile]
How many big 12 teams will finish in the top ten this year?
Buzzmaster (10:23 AM)
And that's it....
Marc (Charlotte)
Chad, I was kidding. Simmer down.
stephanie (cincy)
Tom Cruise used to come into a restaurant I worked at with Cher. He is a shrimp, she was a good 4 inches taller than him.
Buzzmaster (10:23 AM)
You didn't stab him, did you?
chaz (sa tx)
cobra was pretty awesome...
Chad (Las Vegas)
Stephanie worked at a restaurant with Cher? Wow she must of had some down times in her life.
Trevor (Texas)
Cobra tagline: Crime is a disease. Meet the Cure.
Ben (NC)
I often thought stephanie was the tom cruise type
Jack (NB Canada)
Tom Hanks has had a decent run as well.
stephanie (cincy)
I knew that was coming Buzz. I couldn't stab him: HUGE TIPPER!!
Clay (Charlotte)
HAHAHA, Bravo Buzz.
Ryan (San Diego)
Guys, I posted that because I knew the ONB was coming...was just a preface
Mookie (Laramie)
In 20 years Dwayne Johnson may be mentioned in with the best actors in the 2000's. I would argue it but his movies pull down the money to put him in that argument.
Marc (Charlotte)
Louis Gosset Jr. - Iron Eagle.... wait that's about it.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I thought I saw some station on DirecTV was going to show 'Red Dawn' over the weekend. I actually considered watching it.
Buzzmaster (10:25 AM)
Do it.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
I think she meant to say that Tom Cruise used to come in with Cher to a restaurant where she worked. Word placement is everything.
Trevor (Texas)
Tom Hanks in Big is a classic.
Marc (Charlotte)
I was watchin' an episode of Criminal Minds and Jason Van Der Beek was a guest and he was quite good. I didn't know he could really act.
Trevor (Texas)
Between Tom Cruise and dead cooks, how did you ever get any work done?
Steve (NJ)
Now, if we're talking JCVD movies in the 1980's, you've got three gold-star choices: Bloodsport, Kickboxer, and the rarely seen but completely underrated Cyborg. The dude came out of nowhere and owned the late 1980's.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Ryan's main concern should be that he has to defend his team for barely beating the Raiders.
Trevor (Texas)
Don't call him Dwayne Johnson...he will forever be The Rock. He can't get out of that shadow.
Marc (Charlotte)
Money isn't a determining factor. Staying power of the movie is just as important.
chaz (sa tx)
Yikes i spit some coffee out when i read trevors comment
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Charlie Sheen had some movies in the 80's too. I liked The Wraith myself.
Cory (PA)
Tom Hanks had a good run in the 80's?! Like Splash, Joe Vs The Volcano, Man w/ one red shoe? He had so many flops after Big that he didn't recover til he did Philadelphia.
Pacey (Dawson's Creek)
Dude, it's JAMES Vanderbeek. Sheesh.
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
Stupid internet. Up and Down. It's driving me nuts!
stephanie (cincy)
The grammar police didn't pull me over, so it doesn't count.
Trevor (Texas)
I'd argue Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future...that movie epitomized the 80s.
Neal (Philly)
Is Jason Van Der Beek related to James?
Steve (NJ)
I feel like I'm on some parallel planet here: Trevor lists Stallone's best movies and leaves out Cobra, now Cory does Tom Hanks and leaves out Bachelor Party? STOP THE INSANITY!!!
stephanie (cincy)
Fact: I have never waited on Tom Hanks
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Cue "didn't know they had internet in Kentucky jokes" in 3...2...1...
chaz (sa tx)
calling the rock dwayne johnson is like calling ketchup tomato sauce. its ketchup!!!! the ROCK!!!
Scott (Brewtown)
I liked the Money Pit, mostly because I had a house like that once.
Jack (NB Canada)
Bob Vander beek was good in a lot of movies as well.
Zack (Louisville, KY)
Don't forget THE LIBYANS!
Nate (Madison)
Is Back To The Future II up for an Oscar in 2015?
Cory (PA)
A movie about time travel to two separate decades epitomized the 1980's?
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Christopher Lloyd was hilarious as Rev. Jim Ignatowski on Taxi.
Clay (Charlotte)
Nate, Back to the Future II is not allowed to win any awards until I get a hover board.
Steve (NJ)
Of course, Burt Reynolds put out 2 Cannonball Run movies and Sharkey's Revenge in the 1980's...but he's more a 1970's guy.
Jordan (Peoria)
I feel like criming someone at work today!
Trevor (Texas)
I saw a terrorist van last week, I was trying to hit 88 MPH as soon as possible before RPG's started flying at me.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Cory in PA, go look at Tom Hanks movie log and you'll see he had a pretty good run in the 80's.
Tom (West Loop)
There's no chance the Rock is remembered for anything regarding the 2000s except by wrestling fans. DiCaprio has had a great run of movies in the 2000s (Blood Diamond, The Departed, etc), as has Buzz's nemesis Matt Damon (Bourne trilogy, The Departed).
Nate (Madison)
Spaceballs was on last night, very underrated 80's comedy.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Apparently Tony never heard Millen before he became a GM. Matt was good in the booth.
Buzzmaster (10:32 AM)
Thank you. Finally someone who actually pays attention.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
I don't know if I'd pick Back to the Future as the movie that epitomized the 80's. I'd probably pick something from John Hughes. Maybe Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles.
Vic (Gary IN)
I agree Back to the Future is the movie of the 80s. Just like the Godfather was the movie of the 70s, but not at all about the 70s.
Mookie (Laramie)
Thank you ESPN for the mention of Wyoming on TV, we do not get that national exposure often. Oh and we will whip Colorado!!!
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Speaking of Michael J Fox, I was forced to buy my better half "Secret Of MY Success". She watches it a lot. I recently saw "Greedy" too. Kinda funny actually.
chaz (sa tx)
spaceballs is the best mel brooks movie ever " im a mog, half man half dog, IM MY OWN BEST FRIEND!!"
stephanie (cincy)
equal time here people. best actresses too cate blanchett
Steve (NJ)
I'd say Spaceballs was actually very accurately rated.
Jack (NB Canada)
John Candy - In 1984, Candy played Tom Hanks' womanizing brother in the hit romantic comedy Splash, considered to be his breakout role. Although Candy continued to play supporting roles in films like Spaceballs, he was awarded the opportunity to headline or co-star in such comedy films as Volunteers; Planes, Trains
Marc (Charlotte)
Touche Neal, Touche.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Steve Carrell may become the best actor of this decade.
JB (TX)
Somehow I don't think Buzz is gonna let me list my Best Actress candidates.
Buzzmaster (10:34 AM)
Somehow, I don't think you'll give me a list of actresses.
Zack (Louisville, KY)
How is Ferris Bueller's Day Off not the movie of the 80s?
Matt (IN)
Helmet!
Cory (PA)
Young Frankenstein>Spaceballs>Blazing Saddles
Buzzmaster (10:34 AM)
What about Young Einstein?
Trevor (Texas)
John Candy...great call Jack.
Trevor (Texas)
Russell Crowe 2000s: Gladiator, Cinderella Man, A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster, 3:10 to Yuma...State of Play was pretty good too.
Wes (Big D)
Any Mel Brooks movie was great...blazing saddles, young frankenstein....
Chubbs (Ga)
Young Einstein is a great movie buzz
Jeremy (Boston)
The Two Coreys had a pretty good 80s. Lost Boys, License to Drive, Lucas, Friday the 13th Part IV, Stand By Me, Goonies....together or seperate, they killed it.
Fake Clinton (Indianapolis)
Best actor has to be Clark Gable. Gone with the wind was the epitome of the 30's
Nate (Madison)
I posted a picture of the Libyans van that was parked outside our dorms in Austria. Funny part was that I saw a guy that reminded me of Doc Brown one night when we were all out to eat.
Drew (Buffalo)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is the worst movie I have ever saw.
Buzzmaster (10:36 AM)
Boooooooooooooo.
Nate (Madison)
Drew, you're playing with fire.
Vick (Indiana)
I think I'm one of the few people on earth who didn't like Gone With the Wind
Tommy (ATL)
If you think about, it should actually be called, "Ferris Bueller's Day On"
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
Wes, the great Mel Brooks run ended with Spaceballs, but Robin hood had some laugh in it too, but overall, it sucked
Trevor (Texas)
Clint Eastwood had a pretty good run in the 80s...well in every decade since the 60s come to think of it.
Brian (Madison, WI)
Sweet, someone got booed besides me.
chaz (sa tx)
*throws boot at DREW
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
Problem Child 1 and 2 were hilarious, yet awfully made.
Buzzmaster (10:38 AM)
That's why Grason doesn't get posted more often.
Neal (Philly)
Robin Hood Men in Tights was great. Dom Deluise even had a cameo.
Principal Edward Rooney (Glenbrook North High)
Ferris has been absent 9 times!
Drew (Buffalo)
Am I missing something about that movie? Is it supposed to be funny?
Tom (West Loop)
Best part of Men in Tights? A young Dave Chappelle.
Chubbs (Ga)
I believe the day off is refering to schoool
jill (norman)
Paul Newman
Cory (PA)
SteveFitz I stand by my previous take on Tom Hanks. He was the actor of the 90's, just too many horrible 80's movies.
stephanie (cincy)
Wasn't Gene Hackman in EVERY movie in the '80's
Ferris Bueller (Home)
John Lennon once said, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus, I'd still have to bum rides off people.
fredrick (shreveport la)
patrick mac almost praises roger feder for his foul display against the chair judge but he slanders serena for her outburst ....both where equally as bad...i sense a little bias opinion towards the â??worlds â?ý number one
Buzzmaster (10:39 AM)
Federer didn't threaten bodily harm several times. He was just voicing frustration. He didn't take it to the next level.
Marc (Charlotte)
Gremlins. End of Story.
chaz (sa tx)
that wasnt gene hackman in ferris day off steph
Clinton (Indianapolis)
It was amazing to see Tom Hanks go from strictly comic actor in the 80's into a dramatic actor that won two Best Actor Oscars in a row in the 90's.
Chubbs (Ga)
This 80's talk is getting to me.... i wasnt even alive till the end
Scott (Brewtown)
I realize that The Shining wasn't meant to be funny, but whenever I see it, I crack up. Heeeerrreee's Johnny!
Clinton (Indianapolis)
If you guys think Men in Tights was good, you ought to go back and check out The Producers. The original one, with Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
I'm guessing we have a lot of SNers who were born in the 90's and didn't watch movies until the late 90's.
Nate (Madison)
What's the score? 0-0. Who's winning?
Buzzmaster (10:41 AM)
Da Bears.
jill (norman)
Gene Hackman has been in every movie for about three decades and I always rent them.
jill (norman)
You're one sick puppy, Scott.
JB (TX)
Chubbs doesn't even realize he was named after Michael J' Fox's teammate in Teen Wolf.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Unforgiven - the trifecta of Hackman, Eastwood, and Morgan Freeman.
Brian (Madison, WI)
A lot of SNer's that were born in the 90s? Doubt it. At least not in the MB.
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
One Flew Over the Cuckcoo's Nest.
JB (TX)
How are we discussing 80s movies and Revenge of the Nerds hasn't come up yet? Where's Ogre??
Chad (Las Vegas)
Da Bears aren't winning anything with Urlacher out and Cutler throwing all those INT's.
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
I was wondering: has anyone played more bad guys than hackman and Dennis Hopper?
tim (newark del)
animal house was the best ever
Alex (Littleton, CO)
Good morning everyone. Put on my polo this morning, and, as it was freshly laundered, the collar was popped as i put it on. It gave me the shivers until I fixed it about .5 seconds later.
Buzzmaster (10:44 AM)
Speaking of 80's movies. I nearly got offended when LadyBuzz didn't get a reference I made to Iron Eagle. Then she told me she'd never seen the movie.
Tom (West Loop)
I think Jeremy Irons plays a lot of villains. Even in the Lion King, he was pure evil.
Vick (Indiana)
What channel will the Bears-Steelers game be on? I've got to see the Steelers kill the Bears.
chaz (sa tx)
ogre is making commercials for capital one credit cards dressed as a viking
Elvis (Norfolk)
Patrick McEnroe needs to leave Venus Williams alone. He is being annoying even for a tennis analyst. If What she did was how about his brother antics. She apologized end of story. His brother had way more stunts than any other tennis player in history. What a judge of character.
Buzzmaster (10:46 AM)
But we're not talking about his brother, first of all. Second of all, we're talking about Serena, not Venus. And third of all, what Serena did was turrible and she should be called out for it.
Drew (Buffalo)
He's being annoying even for a tennis analyst? Are they notoriously annoying?
Clinton (Indianapolis)
I don't recall John McEnroe ever threatening bodily harm on an official, Elvis.
Chubbs (Ga)
key word is his Brother... not him
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
Elvis: It was Serena, not Venus.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Good call on Jeremy Irons. Die Hard 3, Reversal of Fortune, Appaloosa...he does play a lot of bad guys.
Trevor (Texas)
Die Hard was also a great 80s movie.
Chappy Sinclair (air base)
Buzz, this book is full of young kids who thought they were ready. What makes you any different than them?
Matt Damon (Bristol)
Is that grounds for divorce Buzz????
jill (norman)
Iron Eagle?
Clay (Charlotte)
Iron Eagle is a horrible movie.
Jeremy (Boston)
Elvis.....I think it's Serena.....and, she still wouldn't appologize. It's like her publist wrote the second apology, and she didn't know what was said.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Elvis (Norfolk) BIG difference from John McEnroe saying 'You've got to be kidding me" at the ref's and Serena telling the line judge that she wants to shove a tennis ball down her throat.
Jordan (Cbus)
Best name in sports now that God Shamgodd isnt around...my vote is for Elvis Andrus
Nate (Madison)
I've never seen Iron Eagle. And hold the phone here, I may or may not have the Sopranos/Goodfellas ranked higher than the Godfather for mafia movies/shows I enjoy watching.
Marc (Charlotte)
What reference did you make?
Buzzmaster (10:47 AM)
Can't remember. Couldn't have been a good one.
Jack (NB Canada)
Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber in Die Hard was the best 80's villain by a country mile.
Marc (Charlotte)
Iron Eagle is a classic.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
'Unforgiven' was as good as the hype surrounding it. Outstanding film.
Jim Calhoun (Storrs)
Elvis, leave the building and go get some facts and come back to me! Get some facts!
stephanie (cincy)
Lunch today is tuna salad sandwich and vitamin water.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Never seen Iron Eagle, either.
Tommy (ATL)
Homeward Bound?
Clay (Charlotte)
Lunch. Pizza, Pizza
Buzzmaster (10:49 AM)
Pan, pan.
Cory (PA)
My vote for best villain? Jeffrey Jones in Howard the Duck.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Where's Ed? That should be a penalty on stephanie for lunch chat 2 minutes early without mention of having to leave early.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
Steph, that's 5 yards for premature lunch chat. Still 1st down.
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
Die Hard is a classic. Finally watched it on demand a few months back. Well worth the 2 hours. When did Caddy Shack come out?
Mookie (Laramie)
Brian Dennehy always plays a bad guy and is one of the best bad guys out there.
Serena Williams (USA)
I only read that second apology because my publicist said if i did i could shove a tennis ball down her throat.
Trevor (Texas)
No mention of Steve Martin in the 80s?
Neal (Philly)
Alan Rickman = Severus Snape, not a villain, but creepy
mike (los angeles)
tuna sandwich with mango gatorade. maybe a little "Roadhouse" later on too.
Jordan (Cbus)
Lunch...$5 dollar foooootlong!
Steve (NJ)
Never seen Iron Eagle? Travishamockery.
Marc (Charlotte)
Doug Masters dies in Iron Eagle 2, but I believe he is alive in Iron Eagle 4.
Zack (Louisville, KY)
Brian Dennehy was Tommy Boy's Dad. How can he be bad?
stephanie (cincy)
Having an impostor is really annoying especially when the fake steph gets a 5 yard penalty from Ed
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Fact: The day I was checking out of a NewPort Beach CA hotel, Stephen Baldwin and Jason Gedrick were checking in.
Marc (Charlotte)
Caddy Shack was 1980 I believe.
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
Caddyshack was early 80's
Steve (Gutenberg)
Brian Dennehey was a good guy in both Cocoon movies.
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)

Clinton (Indianapolis)

Jack (NB Canada)
80's food - McDonalds Pizza
Ed Hochuli (chat ref)

Clinton (Indianapolis)
There are a lot of "classic" movies I haven't seen: The Rocky movies, the Karate Kid movies, Road House, Red Dawn, etc.
Chubbs (Ga)

Marc (Charlotte)
Lunch: Sandwich, Chips, Nutty Bars. Going on 3 weeks in a row.
Vicki (Indiana)

SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Lunch: Healthy
Neal (Philly)
Lunch: something healthy after eating a box of Crunch 'n Munch
Cory (PA)
Lunch: Subway
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
They're not the best movie around, but I don't want ot end the 80's movie chat before a mention of the police academy movies
Pete (NC)
Lunch: beef stew made by my wife. Superb work!
Alex (Littleton, CO)
Lunch: Still too far away to make an educated decision
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Lunch: Another PB and J day as I need to go home to let the dogs out again.
Buzzmaster (10:52 AM)
Who let them out?
Tom (West Loop)
How have you not seen Rocky IV? It ended the Cold War!
Steve (NJ)
Clinton, after 281 years, you can't tell me you didn't have the time to see those movies.
Carl Spackler (Bushwood)
Lunch: This Baby Ruth I found in the pool. It's ok.
Vicki (Indiana)
man i miss having popcorn. five months till the braces come off, hopefully
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
Lunch: salmon and pasta
Chad (Las Vegas)
Subway SUCKS Quiznos is much better.
Cory (PA)
Chubbs killed Tom!
Zack (Louisville, KY)
Lunch: Likely something disappointing
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
Chubbs, don't mock Tom. That's 10 yards.
Rich Rod (Ann Arbor)
*Interrupting Chat* People who interrupt need to get lives.
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
yummmmm.... Quiznos
Clay (Charlotte)
Clinton is still trying to figure out the VCR.
Paul (Illinois)
Doritoes sponsored by children of the corn..a stephen king classic
Marc (Charlotte)
Vicki, you can eat popcorn, you just need to do a good job of flossing afterwards.
Cory (PA)
Steve Guttenberg was was indeed a prolific 80's actor.
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
Buzz -- are you pro Problem Child or anti?
Buzzmaster (10:54 AM)
Very much anti. Horrible movies.
Brian (Madison, WI)
I'm guessing Vegas made a lot of money on the Patriots game last night since the line went from 10.5 to 13 in less than 24 hours.
Pete (NC)
I'm not sure if they've been mentioned yet, but have the Short Circuit movies been mentioned? Johnny Five alive!
Louis (Fredericton, NB)
I prefer Quiznos, but a 5$ footlong is excellent value
Drew (Buffalo)
Lunch: most likely a turkey sub, chips, mountain dew.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Wasn't Michael Richards in the first Problem Child as a serial killer or something?
Drew (Buffalo)
Problem Child were turrible movies.
Greg (Ellicott City)
Lunch: Royal Burger w/ cheese...
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I LET THE DOGS OUT! (Thanks, Buzz.)
Spelling Police (On Patrol)
Paul, pull over. It's Doritos. Jeff (Iowa) would be very upset with his neighbor to the east. Here's your ticket.
Clinton (Indianapolis)
Good old Short Circuit...quality flick.
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
The first Home Alone was good.
Robbi (Clinton, Ky)
Problem Child=stupid.
Clay (Charlotte)
Grason, at least get the quote right. El Royal with cheese.
Nate (Madison)
It's just Royal with cheese.
MessyJesse (Pensacola Beach,FL)
first, Rip Swayze....Wolverines! Second, with the Eagles signing old man Garcia, and Vick on the roster, If D Mcnabb misses significant time...who gets the nod?
stephanie (cincy)
see you tomorrow. Ed I hope you do a better job controlling the chat tomorrow.
Trevor (Texas)
Michael Richards played Michael Beck. SMILEY PIES!
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
Buzz - how come you think Greg and I are the same but not Brian and Nate?
Buzzmaster (10:57 AM)
Because, all I have to do is step over Nate and Brian after they pass out. I can only hope there is one Grason.
Chubbs (Ga)
dang... its hard to get posted on your first day..... oh well
Cory (PA)
I enjoyed Death to Smoochie.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
Home Alone > Problem Child
Chad (Las Vegas)

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Thanks for the nostalgic chat today, MBers. Rest in Peace, Patrick Swayze. You will be missed. Have a great Tuesday all. I have a prior engagement tomorrow but I'll be back for Thursday's chat. Later.
Jordan (Cbus)

tom* (parkville, md)

Clay (Charlotte)
Alright SN, have a great day. Be safe and we'll see ya tomorrow. Peace.
SteveFitz (Cicero, IL)
No Ghostbusters reference or did I miss it?
Cory (PA)
Indeed. I nominate Buzz for best Chat Lineup Maker-Upper of the Day!
Trevor (Texas)
