Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Which Rookie Wide Receiver do you think will be the best in the NFL by leading their teams or the NFL in most rushing yards
Mel Kiper (1:03 PM)
Percy Harvin at WR because he's such a threat and he can utilized in so many ways.
Logan (Pittsburgh)
Do you see Darryl Clark as a QB or RB in the NFL?
Mel Kiper (1:06 PM)
I thin he'll be a QB. He's not Michael Robinson. Clack has had two great games out the block this season. He throws the ball well and he has adjustments to their new receiver. The receivers this year at Penn State are bigger and more physical r4ecievers than the ones he had last year. They have a talented RB and they need to do a better job of running the ball to compliment the passing game.
Jon (Phoenix, AZ)
Mel,Which cane has the most pro potential?
Mel Kiper (1:10 PM)
They have a lot of young good players on that team. The have a good OL in Orlando Franklin and their sophomore QB Jacory Harris looks to be improving every game. Former defensive end and now defensive tackle Allen Bailey is a good talent. Sean Spence outside linebacker who is their best athlete on the defensive side of the ball.
Dane (Corona, CA)
What kind of NFL talent does BYU have on its team? They have a good college team but does any of that translate to NFL players?
Mel Kiper (1:18 PM)
They have a lot of guys that will be scouted by the NFL. Denis Pitta a senior TE, has good hands and can catch the ball well. Jan Jorgensen, senior DE, Coleby Clawson, senior OLB is the one that hit Sam Bradford and on the play that injured his shoulder. Matt Renolds, sophomore OT only allowed one sack last year. Max Hall, senior QB and Harvey Unga, a junior RB. Andrew George, a senior RB. All these players will get looks from the NFL.
Rich (Toledo)
Is this Weis's last yr at ND?
Mel Kiper (1:28 PM)
I think a lot of the critics of Notre Dame this past week is undeserved. Their game against Michigan had everything go right. Perfect weather and atmosphere, not to mention it was a great game. They have Michigan State who has beat Notre Dame six-straight times in South Bend. I predicted them to go 10-2, 8-4 won't cut it. It won't be good enough if they only win eight games. There will be a lot of vultures swirling if they lose to Michigan State for the seventh-straight time at home. They can't loss this game. You can make the argument that this will be the biggest game in Charlie Weis' coaching career.
daniel wright (newton,nc.) [via mobile]
in your opion, will mike vick ever play the role as "superstar" in the nfl again? if yes, how long will it take him to reach this status?
Mel Kiper (1:30 PM)
Superstar status is reserved for a small number of players. All you can hope for is that he gets under center a starting QB again. If he is a contributor this season, then all things a good for Michael Vick. The bigger question is will he be a starting QB for a NFL team.
James (Wichita, Ks)
With Bradfords injury, will that hurt him in the draft or is he still a top ten pick?
Mel Kiper (1:34 PM)
It could hurt him. He has Colt McCoy breathing right down his neck. They play each other October 17 in Dallas and the question is will Bradford be back in time for that game. The question is will he be back, will the cobwebs be gone, and how will he work without his main receive Gresham? He's still my No. 1 player on the board but we will have to see how he performs when he comes back (if he comes back).
Josh (houston)
Do you think Javier Arenas (alabama) will be able to play corner in the NFL?
Mel Kiper (1:35 PM)
Areans is a really gritty solid college corner. The question is about his speed. Is he quick enough to close out on receivers? He's not a big player and his size and quickness will be the main questions asked at the combine.
Mike (Shinnston, WV)
Can the Steelers repeat if they don't get a solid ground game going this year?
Mel Kiper (1:39 PM)
They will be in the mix. They always find a way to be in the mix. There is always an over reaction in the first week of the season. Everybody loves the Saints after the first week. They played the Detroit Lions who didn't win a game last season. The Saints haven't proved themselves with that one win. People are writing the Bears, Cardinals, and Panthers off after the first week. People are raving about the Jets after the week one win. People are putting the Vikings in the Super Bowl after beating the Browns, big deal. The Steelers have a QB that knows how to win and a tough defense, they will be in the mix at the end of the year.
Jacob Guthrie (St Charles, Mo)
Is Matt Forte a good start this week?
Mel Kiper (1:44 PM)
The Bears really need Cutler to shake off the first game. He needs to become a leader, he has to step forward and become the face of the Bears. If not, he could be the nest Jeff George. A guy that has the arm but not all the intangibles. More is going to be expected of him as a leader now that Urlacher is out. If you can't become a great leader, then you can't be a great QB in this league. They play the Steelers this week and this is a huge game for Cutler and the Bears. They need to go toe-to-toe with the Steelers and win this game, if they don't win they need to lose the game in the last minute. They can't get blown out and Cutler has to play well.
ron woodring (cleveland ohio)
Do you think the Cleveland Browns can make a run at the AFC Wild Card birth ???
Mel Kiper (1:47 PM)
They have to try and win a game. They need more out of Brady Quinn and they need to play better defense. They play Denver this week, a game they need to win because they have the Ravens in Week 3. They don't want to start the year off at 0-3. They 1-7 or 2-6 by the time they make it to their bye week in nine. This is an important game this week for Cleveland.
Jack (Aspen, C0)
was the Raiders Defense that good on Monday or was the Chargers O that bad?
Mel Kiper (1:50 PM)
I think the Raiders played a lot better. Richard Seymour looked really good. He bought an attitude and leadership to that defensive. Chris Johnson the corner did a real good job. On offense they are a young team but overall I think the defense showed that they can play.
Pete (Florida)
If he re-enters the draft in 2010, will Crabtree go in the 1st with all the obvious character issues?
Mel Kiper (1:55 PM)
You're talking about him a year away from the game. Mike Williams was away from the game for a year, was the 11th pick by the Lions and was a bust. Time away from the game is important. IF he goes back into the draft, he will be a talent. Sitting out this year, he looses a years salary and he losses a year that would have brought him a year closer to free agency. Both parties took this too far. The 49ers know that they won't get anything out of Crabtree in his rookie season.
Nick (Rochester, NY)
Shockey or Winslow? who will have the better game this weekend?
Mel Kiper (1:56 PM)
Shockey ...Winslow is up and down. I hope he's better in Tampa Bay then he was in Cleveland with getting rid of all the mistakes. I thin Shockey has the better chance of having a good year. Saints play the Eagles which has a tougher defense then the Lions which the Saints ran all over in Week 1 and the Bucs go up against the Bills so Winslow might out produce Shockey with week.
Mel Kiper (2:00 PM)
We had a phenomenal week of college football and an even better week of NFL. If we come close this week to what we saw last week, we will be lucky. Talk to you same time next week.
