Welcome to SportsNation! On Tuesday, we'll have actor, director, producer Peter Berg stopping by to talk about ESPN's 30 for 30 project, which commemorates ESPN's 30th anniversary and debuts Tuesday night (8, ESPN).
30 for 30 is an unprecedented documentary series featuring 30 films from some of today's finest storytellers, detailing the events that transformed the sports landscape from 1979 to 2009. Berg's Kings Ransom explains the power shift that happened in 1988 when the Edmonton Oilers traded "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky to the Los Angeles Kings.
Berg made his directing debut in 1998's cult classic "Very Bad Things," starring Cameron Diaz, Jon Favreau, and Christian Slater. He later went on to direct the critcally acclaimed "Friday Night Lights" and "Hancock," starring Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman, which was one of the biggest grossing films of 2008. Berg also created and produces the Emmy-winning TV drama "Friday Night Lights."
