none with any big names, like TO or merriweather . . . chiefs traded tank tyler to carolina on monday night, and that's typical of the kinds of deals we usually see at deadline . . . as i wrote last week, there have been only 25 "deadline deals" the last 20 years, and none of real consequence

it's kind of ironic that, when he was in green bay, favre absolutely hated playing in minny . . . but it's probably helped him some his year .. . still, he's proven he can drive the ball through just about any elements

maybe, but old-tierslike sharper and dawson have turned back the clock . .. but i am alarmed by the poor tackling in general at the safety position

really haven't . . . chiefs have demonstrated they'll deal just about anyone to collect draft picks. .. but haley's unhappiness with bowe aside, he is one of KC's best players

tom is a good fiend, and while's he's had some chances, it's more a family matter . . . both his kids are in high school, and he doesn't want to move them again . .. certainly a very principled and family-first guy . . . has done some part-time scouting but, personal biases aside, he should be in the league

hasn't dropped off a bit. .. in fact, in talking to some raiders peiple, they swear he's given up only three long completions (in man-to-man) in two years . . . terrific player on a pitiful team

admittedly, even with living in atlanta, i don't know vangorder well enough . . . but players to whom i speak regularly swear by the guy .. . he's done a very nice job with a unit starting a lot of new people.

he's a good kicker, but not universally beloved inside the organization . . . pits won't overpay to keep him, the same way they wouldn't any kicker . .. but if he hits free agency, he won't lack for suitors

good friend peter king of SI wrote recently that holmgren has not ruled out coaching on the east coast, so skins are a possibility . . . but he'd have to have full personnel control, and snyder has problems ceding that

i write about this in today's column . . . DL are so damned hard to find, and team's gamble on them . . . as bad as adams has been, there's only one guy from the '07 draft with more sacks than his 131/2, and that lamarr woodley, who switched from college end to nfl LB

he's not your typical NT type of guy, that's for sure .. . might be better as an end in some defenses, but not a great upfield pass rush threat

the front seven has been bad, but more depressing is the soft play (lack of tackling) in the secondary .. . clinton hart got cut, but eric weddle isn't playing well at FS either
