Welcome to SportsNation! On Friday, ESPN.com AFC East blogger Tim Graham will drop in to chat about all the latest news from the NFL.
Graham joined ESPN.com in 2008 after covering the Miami Dolphins for the Palm Beach Post. He previously spent eight years at the Buffalo News, where he was an award-winning NHL and boxing writer. The Baldwin-Wallace College grad also has worked for the Las Vegas Sun and Boston Herald.

Tim Graham (2:58 PM)
Good afternoon from the Buffalo Bills facility in Orchard Park, N.Y. Let's get started, shall we?
Matt (Toronto, ON)
Dolphins: Buyers at trade deadline - are they still in the running for Cribbs? What would compensation be?
Tim Graham (2:59 PM)
I don't believe there is a running for Cribbs. From what I hear in Cleveland, the Browns have no interest in trading him. He's their best player and has a club-friendly contract.
Billy (Miami, FL)
How would you grade Mike Tannenbaum's tenure as a GM and what do you think of his aggressive approach? I'm biased, but I think he's done a terrific job. He's received a lot of criticism for dealing so many of the Jets' draft picks, but he seems to have landed some serious studs with his quality over quantity approach. (Let's give him a mulligan for the Gholston pick -- I doubt many other GMs would have passed on him with the sixth pick that year.) I also seems deserve a lot of praise for his free agent pickups, all of whom seem solid.
Tim Graham (3:00 PM)
I love that Mike Tannenbaum is willing to take a chance and strike a deal to help his team. But it's hard to say right now how much he's calling the shots and how much Rex Ryan is driving the truck.
Steven (RI)
Tim, It seems like Ronnie Brown doesn't get enough credit from the media because he gets most of his yardage from the wild cat. Why is this?
Tim Graham (3:01 PM)
I think he gets more attention because of the Wildcat.
Dan (NYC)
Why can't the Jets seem to get the ball to Keller? Schott had no problem getting the ball to Gates in SD.
Tim Graham (3:02 PM)
Gates can block a little. When Keller is on the field, defenses know that it's likely a pass play and double team him or overload his side, forcing him to stay in.
max (new york)
Hey Tim, What are your thoughts on the possibility of a Manning Bowl, an all Manning Superbowl?
Tim Graham (3:03 PM)
It would be a great story line and probably a great matchup. I'd be all for it. Both teams are well on their way to securing home-field advantage, so it's possible.
Randy Moss (Boston)
How come the Bills want to trade for me?
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
Whatever.
SprungOnSports (Long Island)
How long into Sunday's game will it be until Buffalo's offensive line is overmatched by Rex Ryan's defense?
Tim Graham (3:04 PM)
About three days ago.
Billy (Weston, FL)
Why did you leave sunny South Florida for Buffalo?
Tim Graham (3:05 PM)
I worked at the Buffalo News for eight years and have a lot of family and friends here. I'm originally from Cleveland, so this also gets me close to home while still being in the market of an AFC East team.
Marc (Charlotte)
Shouldn't the unemployed kid in Buffalo spend more time looking for a job and less time soliciting for billboard donations?
Tim Graham (3:06 PM)
At 18? Nah. He's an enterprising young lad. I wouldn't be surprised if the publicity helps him get work.
Channing Crowder (Miami, FL)
Do you think I would even start if I was on the Jets? I think I'm pretty overrated.
Tim Graham (3:07 PM)
No, you wouldn't start on the Jets. But a lot of NFL starters wouldn't crack that lineup.
Jon (Rochester, Ny)
Tim, I'm concerned. An Anchor Bar just opened in Rochester. I fear there may be an entire generation of Rochesterians that grow up believing The Anchor Bar has the best wings ever. Clearly, living in Buffalo for 5 years, I know this to be a farce. How do I get the word out to prevent this tragedy against the chicken wing community?
Tim Graham (3:08 PM)
Funny you should mention that. They opened an Anchor Bar at the Buffalo airport and its wings are better than what I remember the original restaurant served. My favorite remains Duff's. And I'll be eating there tonight.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
The Chat Ref just wanted to make a PSA: People, the "Wildcat" is not something new by any means. Please read your football history books. A few weeks ago the Chat Ref was watching a baseball game and Dick Stockton mentioned the Wildcat was a recent innovation and the Chat Ref nearly slammed his TV on the ground. Thank you all and here is to a penalty free chat
Kris Jenkins (Florence Park, NJ)
Does my head coach weigh more than I do?
Tim Graham (3:09 PM)
No way. You have him by a sixth-grader.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Which team has the better potential in terms of its young talent: Jets or Dolphins?
Tim Graham (3:11 PM)
Great question. I think the Dolphins have more young talent, but the Jets have the more recognizable young talent in Sanchez. The Dolphins went into Week 1 with the most rookies or first-year players on their roster. The jets had only three draft picks. Big discrepancy in numbers.
Jon (Rochester, Ny)
If the Chat Ref had slammed his TV on the ground and somebody tried to pick it up and run off with it, do you think he would inadvertently blow the whistle and claim it was an incomplete pass? It wouldn't reviewable and he'd get his TV back.
Bill (La Verne, Caliifornia)
Tim, if you had to compare Rex Ryan to a video game character, which one would it be?
Tim Graham (3:12 PM)
King Hippo from Mike Tyson's Punch Out.
mz (boston)
Tim, aren't you scared posting where you're going to be tonight? that some psychotic chat reader might come up and shiv you for one-too-many discussions of video games instead of AFCEast?
Tim Graham (3:13 PM)
Nobody reads this crap.
Ron (Vermilion)
About 25 miles from BW (go Yellow Jackets). Which is the better start Favre or Garrard?
Tim Graham (3:13 PM)
I don't do fantasy picks, but I do want to give a shout out for the Woolybear Festival.
Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)
Jon, because the Chat Ref has a sense of humor, there is no foul on your post
Clay (Charlotte)
At what point do the Rex Ryan jokes get old? I have to be honest, I don't see any end in sight. They are funny every time.
Max (NY)
Alright Tim, down to business. Superbowl pick?
Tim Graham (3:14 PM)
My preseason pick was Pittsburgh. I'm sticking with it.
Jon (Rochester, Ny)
If Rex Ryan is King Hippo, that makes Dick Jauron "Little Mac." I'm guessing it will take more than 4 quarters for Jauron to realize that when King Hippo opens his mouth, you're supposed to dodge.
Tim Graham (3:15 PM)
Not true. Little Mac usually wins. But if you lose three times, the game is over.
nick (buffalo)
ay ay ay ay.... hang on suza...errrrr slooopy sloopy hang on
Tim Graham (3:16 PM)
I hope you remembered your homework assignment from last week, Nick. I wanted the lyrics to "Louie Louie."
Tim Graham (3:16 PM)
But I'll also settle for the closing credits to "WKRP in Cincinnati."
Bill (La Verne, California)
Tim, which would you rather do: Become a professonal mime or answer fantasy football questions?
Tim Graham (3:17 PM)
I'd have to go with the mime.
Brandon (Salt Lake City, UT)
Do you think the dolphins are in for a win streak? Or is the team we see overrated?
Tim Graham (3:18 PM)
Hard to be 2-3 and overrated. They're barely rated. But I understand what you're saying. There is a newfound excitement around them. They have the Saints at home after they get back from their bye. If the Dolphins win that game, then I'm ready to consider them in the AFC East race.
nick (buffalo)
i would love to do homeowrk for you tim but im all backed up on work from doing none while im in your chat/any other time during the 8 hour day
Kyle (Ellensburg)
If you had to pick one player off each AFC east team to start your own team, who would you pick?
Tim Graham (3:20 PM)
Darrelle Revis (although it would be tough to pass on Nick Mangold), Jerod Mayo, Marshawn Lynch, Jake Long.
Tim Graham (3:21 PM)
Are your questions not posting?
Tim Graham (3:21 PM)
We might have a malfunction here. Hang on.
Tim Graham (3:22 PM)
OK, sorry about that. Your questions weren't appearing for a bit there.
not (sober)
You cant start your team with a CENTER!!! Cmon
anthony (willis)
the jets defense doesnt look as good as once advertised...what gives?
Tim Graham (3:24 PM)
Neither does the Patriots offense, but I don't think that will last. I think the Jets had a meltdown game.
blaine (minnesota)
Hasselbeck, is he a top 10 QB
Tim Graham (3:25 PM)
If he is, then the NFL needs some new quarterbacks. He does rank fifth in passer rating this year. But he doesn't do much for me.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mad tooth bar chin-up box zing outta her hair still do the modern day what-a-mole ditto what's that? good bar tender I'da hat beer 'n head out I said I wouldn't do it if a poodle had a lid on. Asked and answered, Tim.
Tim Graham (3:27 PM)
I applaud you.
Bill (Fairfax, VA)
Is the Bills no huddle still in place?
Tim Graham (3:28 PM)
Not sure. Practices are closed. But I trust the reports to be true that the Bills are either scrapping it or reducing it significantly.
Clay (Charlotte)
I'm sorry, can someone translate crazy for me?
Tim Graham (3:28 PM)
Those were the lyrics we were referring to earlier. Or something close.
Tim Graham (3:29 PM)
Although I'm suspicious of the actual words. I think they were noises that sounded like those words more than they were the actual words.
Tom Brady (via mobile)
Tim, I'm devastated. I thought we were friends.
Tim Graham (3:30 PM)
I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
Kyle (Ellensburg)
Is the chad henne that played on Monday night, the Chad Henne we can expect to see from here on out?
Tim Graham (3:31 PM)
Not yet. Maybe if the Dolphins ever get a true deep threat, not just a once-every-three-weeks guy like Ted Ginn. I still see the Dolphins grinding it more like they did against Buffalo in Week 4.
Jason (Orlando)
Yes, the Bills are scrapping the no huddle. They're going with the "no clue" offense.
Tim Graham (3:32 PM)
They don't need to scrap the no-huddle for that. They were running that last year.
Max (NY)
Top 5 QBs in NFL, i want your opinion:Peyton ManningDrew BreesTom BradyEli ManningAaron Rodgers
Tim Graham (3:33 PM)
In my opinion, they're all NFL quarterbacks. Was there a question?
Billy (Weston, FL)
Who does your gut tell you will be the better QB when all is said and done -- Sanchez or Henne?
Tim Graham (3:33 PM)
Pure gut, Sanchez.
Jay (Connecticut)
Who do I start this week? Kellen Winslow or Greg Olsen?
Tim Graham (3:35 PM)
No fantasy questions here, Jay. They appeal to an audience of one. Actually, this chat appeals to an audience of zero, so maybe I should take more fantasy questions.
Mike (NY)
Tim, how can we tell people that Michael Vick in the shotgun IS NOT the wildcat or whatever each team calls it? it is a shotgun formation.
Tim Graham (3:36 PM)
Right you are. Same with Pat White. It's not the Wildcat if a quarterback is taking the snap.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jay (CT): Jeremy Green is here in about 25 minutes. He takes FFL questions.
Tim Graham (3:36 PM)
Yes, he does. Thanks for the reminder, J.B.
Tim Graham (3:37 PM)
But I think I'm going to adopt a new policy. Any time I get a fantasy question, I will endeavor to give the worst advice possible.
jimmy (ohio)
only one video game remains on the planet, which one you want: Madden or Super Tecmo Bowl>
Tim Graham (3:38 PM)
Madden. But if it were the original Tecmo, I might switch my pick.
Jon (Rochester, Ny)
Tim, dream scenario in four months: Bills fire Jauron, John Guy, and Jim Overdorf. They hire Eric DeCosta as General Manager. Russ Brandon moves back to COO to manage business side of it. Tom Modrak remains Vice President of College Scouting and reports to DeCosta. DeCosta hires Todd Bowles as next Bills head coach. Clearly, this all makes too much sense to actually happen, right?
Tim Graham (3:39 PM)
That's an impressive rundown. Very reasonable and refreshingly doesn't include the names Cowher, Shanahan or Gruden.
Bryce (Fargo)
Super Tecmo Bowl is the best game of all time and will never be beat.
Xander (Philly)
Oh STB hands down! I'll be the Bills and run hosue in that game!!!!!!
Jason (Orlando)
Apparently, there are two games left on the planet if he has a choice.
Brandon (Salt Lake City, UT)
So Tim, I have been following the AFC East blog for a bit due to the fact I can get to the Dolphins Local from whatever nonsense your writing about. I thank you for that. :)
Tim Graham (3:41 PM)
I'm just trying to give you a break from those illegal German sites that take up the other 75 percent of your day.
Fat Jack (berea ohio)
Tim, do the bills have decent talent but inept coaches, or bad talent and inept coaches? Why can other teams throw the ball to their star receivers and we cant?
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
The Bills have decent starting talent, lousy depth and average coaches.
Jay (Connecticut)
Double Dribble is the all time best sports game.
Tim Graham (3:42 PM)
For basketball games, it's gotta be NBA Jam.
Fat Jack (Baldwin Wallace)
ever go to the eastland inn?
Tim Graham (3:43 PM)
I've been kicked out of there more times than I can count.
Jimbo (Brooklyn)
Over/Under of Brady TD's this year: how's 24 sound?
Tim Graham (3:44 PM)
That's a good number for betting purposes. Not that I condone that.
Clay (Charlotte)
Bourbon or Scotch?
Tim Graham (3:44 PM)
The former, hands down.
Xander (Philly)
"and refreshingly doesn't include the names Cowher, Shanahan or Gruden"...is that because Wilson wont pay, no coach will go, or both? You said the same type of thing about T.O. Also, wouldnt it entice one of those coaches to come if they got GM power too?
Tim Graham (3:46 PM)
That's a big if I don't anticipate happening. There's a reason the Bills don't have a GM now. Ralph Wilson is anxious about others having too much power, something he didn't like with Tom Donahoe.
Scott (Colorado Springs, CO)
Any insight on Jamon Meredith? People keep saying that GB was mad that Buffalo signed him off their practice squad, but the kid is a rookie and if he was that good how come he wasn't on GB's active roster with how bad their O-line is.
Tim Graham (3:47 PM)
That's my take: He wasn't good enough to make the Packers' roster, and they lead the NFL in sacks allowed.
Tim Graham (3:48 PM)
But I can't give you any insight on how he looks. He signed during the season, when practices are closed to us jokers in the media.
Jimbo (Brooklyn)
Tim I Implore you to lobby to get on Simmons podcast before the next Pats/Jets game. He needs somebody to talk rationally about these things.
Tim Graham (3:49 PM)
I've never met Bill. I can only pray someday we will be introduced ...
Brandon (Salt Lake City, UT)
Tonight I'm gonna Don-a-hoe.
Tim Graham (3:49 PM)
In Salt Lake City? Isn't that a capital offense there?
Billy (Weston, FL)
What kind of scotch do you prefer?
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
I said "the latter," which in your either/or was bourbon
Jay (Connecticut)
Chicken Tenders or Chicken Wings?
Tim Graham (3:50 PM)
Parts is parts.
Brian (Richmond, VA)
2 minutes to go in the game... who do you want... Peyton or Brady?
Tim Graham (3:51 PM)
Right now, Manning. Over the course of a career, Brady.
Jay (Connecticut)
he wants to get you drunk I think
Tim Graham (3:51 PM)
I just might let him.
Jason (Orlando)
EWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
Tim Graham (3:52 PM)
Get me drunk, Jason. We're not spooning. Lighten up.
Billy (Weston, FL)
Come to the Carolina Ale House on Weston Road later tonight. I'm buying. I trust you know the place
Tim Graham (3:53 PM)
I've been there. I lived just down the street for a couple months right after I moved to Florida. But I'm in New York this weekend. I do appreciate the offer, though.
Tim Graham (3:53 PM)
I've been there. I lived just down the street for a couple months right after I moved to Florida. But I'm in New York this weekend. I do appreciate the offer, though.
eRIC (iNDY)
iS THIS AN nfl CHAT OR WHAT???
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
It's a Tim Graham chat. You might want to leave before I waste even more of your day. It doesn't improve.
Tim Graham (3:54 PM)
OK, guys. A few more and then I'm headed to Duff's.
mz (boston)
oVER uNDER on eRIC's aGE fOR hIS cAPS sTYLE?I'd say 13.
Tim Graham (3:56 PM)
Or maybe 67. My dad does that. He buys six pay-per-view sports packages a month because he can't figure out the DirecTV remote.
Scott (Colorado Springs, CO)
Try not to hang around the Bills factilty to long, you might lose your ability to write and get injured.
Tim Graham (3:57 PM)
I just tore my ACL putting away my battery pack.
Derek (Pittsburgh)
What games are you covering this weekend??
Tim Graham (3:58 PM)
I'll be covering Bills at Jets on Sunday.
Tim Graham (3:59 PM)
Thanks for dropping by, everybody. I'll see you at the same time next week.
