Scott is here, let's rock!
Joe (Miami)
So are you staying longer than the 10 minutes Ryen stayed?
Scott Van Pelt (1:01 PM)
Yeah...I'm here for the duration. Quick 5 minute interview to tape at 1:15...but trust me I'll be creative.
John (NYC)
Is this the last chance for VY with the Titans?
Scott Van Pelt (1:01 PM)
Yes. He's got a chance to show them he can play. If he can't there is no way they pay him beyond next year.
catman (ct)
SVP, you ever play fox hopyard gc in east haddam?
Scott Van Pelt (1:02 PM)
Nope.
Michael (Los Angeles)
Going to Vegas. Havent been in a while, whats a good bar(not club) to go to?
Scott Van Pelt (1:03 PM)
It's been a while since I've been, it seems like we always ended up in the "club of the moment" when we went. So, I'm at a loss on this one. I'm sure our readers can be of assistance here.
Evan (SLC)
Any future "Mayne Street" appearances from you to look forward to?
Scott Van Pelt (1:03 PM)
Just saw Kenny in the cafeteria, I believe we are taping something in December. Side note: Kenny is among my favorite people here, he's a good man, and certifiably insane.
Joe (Austin)
Scott, I'm a longtime fan of yours. When are they going to update your picture on the ESPN website? The one I'm seeing still shows you with hair! But seriously who do you like in the Texas/OSU game? Hook 'Em!!!
Scott Van Pelt (1:05 PM)
(rubbing head) I'd be very weary of the pokes Saturday night. It's a dangerous team who has over the years, given you all a battle as you know. Get over this hurdle and we'll see you in Ft Lauderdale in January.
Don (MN)
Who would like to have on your show that you haven't yet that you have a shot at?
Scott Van Pelt (1:06 PM)
Murray, Jemaine, or Brett would be fun. We have a shot at anybody that's alive. You call them, send them emails, and then repeat.
Michael (Los Angeles)
Trojans or Ducks?
Scott Van Pelt (1:07 PM)
Oregon has not been kind to the Trojans of late...and by that I mean the state of. 0-3 their last 3 trips. Autzen, Halloween Night, Freak Show. I'm thinking Quack Attack.
Ari (Jacksonville)
Scot, love the show. what are the chances Jags make it to the playoofs this year?
Scott Van Pelt (1:08 PM)
The chances are the same as the number of games on in Jacksonville this year. None. No offense.
todd (jersey shore)
who do you see the saints losing their first game to ?
Scott Van Pelt (1:09 PM)
Home against New England seems like the most reasonable choice. But they're so tough there, they'll be hard to outscore. Wait is that Mercury Morris I see in the parking lot? Awesome.
catman (ct)
flight of the conchords fan!! love it SVP. Jemaine's coming out with a new movie where he is a sci-fi writer and sam rockwell is his alter ego. Sounds like gold!! whats the handicap scott? where do you play out of?
Scott Van Pelt (1:10 PM)
Wampanaug. Didn't turn in enough scores to get a handicap as I have said several times...my good is very good...my bad is awful.
Tom (DC)
Did you catch Buck Showalter's comment about Cliff Lee that he was "A man playing with boys"? I couldn't help but chuckle at that one.
Scott Van Pelt (1:11 PM)
I was sitting next to him when he said it. I don't think he was talking about nambla.
Larry (Clemson, SC)
What do you think about Spiller and the Heisman? What does he need to the rest of the way?
Scott Van Pelt (1:12 PM)
No shot. But he's absolutly electrifying and is a first round pick. I'd run him on wheel routes all day. You get him on a backer coming out of the backfield and you can play the fight song.
Eric (Catasauqua, PA)
Can you please have SImmons on at least once a week to talk hoops once his book tour is done?
Scott Van Pelt (1:12 PM)
He said call him anytime...so we will.
Dean (Vermont)
As a Red Sox fan, I can't help but get a little pumped for Pedro vs. the Yankees tonight. Realistically, I'm guessing we're going to see 5 good, not great innings that will keep the Phils in the game up til that point. What are your thoughts on what to expect?
Scott Van Pelt (1:13 PM)
Ever since Charlie said he was doing this, I have said I was in favor of it. Pedro has the perfect mentality to get the ball in this spot. With a 1-0 lead in the series, it frees him up even more to just let it rip.
Scott Van Pelt (1:13 PM)
All the pressure is on the other side.
Ryan (Ohio)
Will this Sunday be the undoing of Brett Fave?
Scott Van Pelt (1:14 PM)
I think GB will win the game. I don't think the undoing of Favre will be a dramatic fall off the cliff kind of thing. Like everyone, I just wonder if he can continue to perform as the weather gets colder.
Ron (Iowa)
More pressure on Favre or Rodgers as the Vikings and Packers prepare for their big matchup this Sunday?
Scott Van Pelt (1:15 PM)
Favre. Rodgers has done a remarkable job deflecting all of this nonsense. It's all on Favre.
Joe (Minny)
What comes to mind for dominating pitching performances in the World Series like Cliff Lee's last night? Morris in '91 and Larson's perfect game, any else?
Scott Van Pelt (1:16 PM)
Beckett was dominant for the Marlins and for the Sox. Hamels was lights out last year. I think people to forget how many great performances there are year in and year out.
Matt (PA)
Scott, I really enjoy the "bad beats" part of the show...some of the stories are great! Any chance you go "oppo" and tell us about a few "good beats"? Late minute garbage TD's to hit the over, stuff like that? Your show is the best!
Scott Van Pelt (1:18 PM)
I'm not wired that way. A good win for somebody is just a bad beat in reverse. I mean if you had Pitt the other day minus the points and you won. that's awesome. But as a guy who thinks tape points first, all I see there is a bad beat. Same could be said about the Miami New Orleans game.
Craig (Dayton)
How many crabcakes can you eat in one sitting? I am a mental midget, just curious.
Scott Van Pelt (1:19 PM)
Depends on how they're constructed. Proper Crab Cakes are not like one of those hushpuppy type all breading no crab deals. It should be all crab, loosely held together with breading. I'm good for 3 or 4. Unless my mom is making homemade fries.
Jason (Bmore)
How many diet cokes today big guy?
Scott Van Pelt (1:20 PM)
We're at 2 so far today. We'll have another during the show. Several more throughout the evening. One when I get home. What's that six? Standard day.
Vinnie (ATL)
Are you over the pouting you did on SC the other night when you stated you have nothing nice to say about the Redskins so your remained silent during the segment?
Scott Van Pelt (1:20 PM)
That was just theatrics. How much emotional investment are the Redskins really worth at this point?
Joe (South Beach)
Do you think Jeff Fischer is secretly hoping he gets fired so he can look into a different coaching job next year?
Scott Van Pelt (1:21 PM)
He'd be high on a lot of lists if he were available. Even with all those SB winners out there.
Andrew (Los Angeles)
To Michael (LA), GO to Tryste; best gogo dancers in Vegas
Jason (Ellicott City, MD)
What does your outlook calendar look like on a typical day?
Scott Van Pelt (1:23 PM)
What is an outlook calendar?
Scott Van Pelt (1:23 PM)
Seriously, I don't know what that is. Am I supposed to know what that is.
Aaron (Iowa)
If you had the chance to portray one college team mascot, which one and why?
Scott Van Pelt (1:25 PM)
I think the Wake Forest Demon Deacon. He has the perfect Mascot face where he always looks surly. It would be fun to walk into a subway and just give that face to the Sandwich Artist. I bet you'd get an awesome sandwich. You wouldn't wait in bars either. The bartender would want to make sure that guy got his whisky.
Blain (Morgantown)
SVP when will the VanMelt be made available to the masses?
Scott Van Pelt (1:26 PM)
I'm throwing it out to Subway again. Let's make this happen. The Scott Van Melt, featuring a delicious blends of meats, cheeses, and toppings. I require only a small stipend to endorse this delicacy.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Outlook is a calendar option that is usually part of your Microsoft office e-mail package.
Scott Van Pelt (1:26 PM)
I thought you were taking today off?
Jason (Bmore)
If there was a Green Turtle in Bristol, would you be a regular attendee?
Scott Van Pelt (1:27 PM)
I'm kind of a shut in these days. So I'm afraid that's a no.
Scott Cook (Boca Raton)
Love the show SVP. Whatever happened to Ryen's man purse escapade?
Scott Van Pelt (1:28 PM)
He wanted to give it away, but no one made a compelling case as to why they needed it. So he returned it for a more manly messenger bag.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I did too but my meeting ran short. Just wanted to stop and say hi but thanks for checking the in box before the start of the chat.
Scott Van Pelt (1:29 PM)
Okay good, at least I know it's not an imposter.
Micro (Soft)
SVP's Outlook Calendar:8 AM: Wake up have a Diet Coke and some Visine in the eyes to mask the partying the night before.
Scott Van Pelt (1:29 PM)
As I said, I'm a shut in. And no I don't wake up at 8am.
Scott Van Pelt (1:29 PM)
Hey guys, gotta run to tape some interviews and get ready for the show. Thanks for chatting once again. See you here next week!
ESPNRadio.com (1:31 PM)
