Thanks for all the questions, keep them coming. I am just about to get Reggie on the phone.
Mark (Orlando)
Rumor is Jelan Kendrick is visiting Indiana this weekend, and Will Sheehey is visiting next weekend. Do the Hoosiers get a commitment from either.
Reggie Rankin (2:03 PM)
Hey Mark, I could see one or both commiting to the Hoosiers. Kendrick is a versatile wing with great size and skill. He could also help out at the point. Sheehey is a SG with excellent size, great range and plays with great energy. He is a great sleeper prospect. Both are good fits for their style and coach Crean does a good job with versatile swing players and has had success with similar players.
spartanj (Tampa)
Now that MSU has landed Adreian Payne do they still have a shot for either CJ Leslie or Trey Zeigler?
Reggie Rankin (2:06 PM)
They would have a better shot at Zeigler than Leslie because Leslie and Payne play the same position, unless they have multiple graduations at the PF position. Zeigler would be able to play close enough where his family could see him play at an elite program. His dad is the head coach at Central Michigan.
Justin (Tucson, AZ)
Do you think Arizona has a good chance of landing Ray McCallum? Who else is Arizona looking at?Thanks
Reggie Rankin (2:11 PM)
Hey Justin, You can't rule out Ray deciding not to play for his dad at Detroit, but Arizona has a great tradition of great guards and could be attractive. Coach Sean Miller was also a PG and should be able to relate to McCallum and it helps that he fits their style of play. UCLA has also put in a lot of work, but I wouldn't count out the Wildcats. Other guards they have interest include Doron Lamb, Trey Zeigler and Pe'Shon Howard.
Brian C. (Hazard, Ky)
How many more recruits is Coach Cal gonna bring to Kentucky, and who might they be?
Reggie Rankin (2:13 PM)
Hey Brian, Coach Cal has already has already had some great prospects on campus, including Brandon Knight, Tobias Harris and it looks liek they are working out a visits with Josh Selby and Terrence Jones. In addition to Poole, who has already committed, look for KY to get a commitment or two within the next week. The dominoes should start falling soon.
B (Kentucky)
Tobias Harris is visiting Louisville this weekend. What's Louisville's chances on landing Harris??
Reggie Rankin (2:16 PM)
Hey B, Anytime you visit a program like Louisville with great tradition and coaching, you have a chance, Harris would be a great add to the Cardinals because he brings great size and versatility. However, his list also includes KY, Syracuse, Maryland and GTech, just to name a few. It won't be easy to land him, but Louisville does have a shot.
Eddie (NYC)
Hey, thanks for chatting. Where do you see Harrison Barnes winding up?
Reggie Rankin (2:19 PM)
Hey Eddie, Barnes could end up at UNC because of their recent success, the players on the team. He is also versatile fit and he's been on campus. Coach Williams has really locked into him and I would be surprised if he doesn't land there. However, you can't eliminate Kansas, Duke, UCLA, Iowa State, Syracuse or Oklahoma.
Mike (Michigan)
Where would you rank Michigan State's recruiting class now with the addition of Payne?
Reggie Rankin (2:24 PM)
Hey Mike, With the addition of Payne to a class that already includes Keith Appling and Russell Byrd, Coach Izzo has landed three players in the ESPNU 100. We will have to see how the rest of the period goes, but No. 23 Payne takes this class to the next level due to his great upside.
Jon (NYC)
Your thoughts on Syracuse's recruiting class?
Reggie Rankin (2:28 PM)
Hey Jon, The Orange recruiting class is great. Starting with Dion Waiters, who is a strong physical combo guard, true center Fab Melo who has great upside and could be an anchor in their 2-3 zone, a versatile scorer in C.J. Fair and a great rebounder, shot blocker and defender in Baye Keita. Te Orange have added great size and athletic ability inside and out, including three of the ESPNU 100.
Chris (G-Vile)
How are the Gators looking in this years class?
Reggie Rankin (2:33 PM)
Hey Chris, the Gators' class to date is terriffic. They have added two of the top five defenders in the 2010 class that I have seen in SF Casey Prather and PF Patric Young. They both are great athletes with tremendous strength and athletic ability. They are great rebounders with a lot of upside. Their defense is ahead of their offense, but they will be exciting above-the-rim players for Florida.
anthony (san antonio)
is selby the real deal and where do you think he lands?
Reggie Rankin (2:35 PM)
Hey Anthony, Selby is definitely the real deal. He is a top 10 prospect with good upside. He brings a lot to the table because he can score as a PG with great toughness and competes on both ends of the floor. Hard to say where he will end up, but KY, Kansas, Syracuse and Miami are making strong pushes. I think he is in the process of making a visit to Lexington.
Daniel Torrance, Ca [via mobile]
Who do you see UCLA landing besides Tyler Lamb for the '10 class? Doesnt look promising right.
Reggie Rankin (2:37 PM)
Hey Dan, It does look promising. They are in the mix for Josh Smith, Trey Zeigler and Ray McCallum. All three have been on campus. It's only a matter of time before the Bruins land a top recruit. They have also been highly aggressive with Harrison Barnes.
Brian (Milwaukee)
What can you tell me about Tarik Black? Does Marquette have a shot to land him?
Reggie Rankin (2:41 PM)
Hey Brian. Marquette has a shot, but they will have to beat out Memphis, Tenn. and possibly Alabama. Black is a very long athletic PF. He is an excellent rebounder, shot blocker and overall post defender. He is very aggressive, strong and an above-the-rim finisher. He plays with great energy and runs the floor. He is productive every time you watch him play.
CrimsonPDX (Portland)
How is the OU Sooners class for next year looking and do you think Capel can continue to make such an impact with the program?
Reggie Rankin (2:45 PM)
Capel has done a great job recruiting making OU an elite program in the country. He has brought in some tremendous classes the last couple of years and it's evident again. He has landed T.J. Taylor and super athletic wing Cameron Clark. Clark and Taylor are both in the ESPNU 100 and their class is off to a great start. Plus, they are making a push for Harrison Barnes. sweepstakes.
Steve (Columbus, OH)
Ohio State seems off to a slow start for 2011'. Is it because of the 10' class or that the talent in ohio is weak for that class
Reggie Rankin (2:48 PM)
Hey Steve. I don't think either one is a factor. Coach Matta has done a great job and is still evaluating for the 2011 class. Rakeem Christmas, Quinn Cook, Sam Thompson and Bradley Bill to name a few are 2011 guys they are targeting. The commitments will come after the process gets a little further along. They have made the early cut for Christmas.
David (Athens, GA)
Does Mark Fox has any chance at bringing a big-time hoopster to Athens for next season?
Reggie Rankin (2:51 PM)
Hey David. They just landed a high level athlete in Cady Lalane. Fox is starting to get established in the South. Expect him to land some high-level Southeastern recruits in the near future in addition to using his Western roots from his time at Nevada.
Christopher (Staten Island)
Hi Reggie, how is Nova's recruiting class? How impressive has Jay Wright been in making Nova a legitimate power by bringing in such top recruits?
Reggie Rankin (2:55 PM)
What's up Chris, Wright has done a great job recruiting the East Coast, especiallyin his own backyard. That's evident with his 2010 commits James Bell, who is an athletic wing and Marcus Kennedy who is a 6-9 center with underrated skill and excellent potential. Expect coach Wright to be involved with the best players on the East Coast each and every year.
Jeff (NY, NY)
Where do you think Roscoe and Knight end up? Uconn have any chance of landing both?
Reggie Rankin (3:01 PM)
Smith and Knight are both very attractive targets for UConn, but they are both in the final stages of their visits. It would be a tough time getting both, but they have a better chance with Smith than Knight.
big easy (north carolina)
since it seems coach k has gotten his touch back in the recruit world. do you think anymore big names are coming still?
Reggie Rankin (3:03 PM)
Coach K never lost his recruiting touch it's just that there are other great programs and coaches to choose from. They are making a huge push for Barnes to team up with Irving and Andre Dawkins, who is a freshman this year.
Chris (Philadelphia, PA)
Hey Reggie. You mentioned Rakeem Christmas earlier, any favorites for him? I know he was at Georgetown for their Midnight Madness and they have certainly had a lot of success with big guys in the past. Has anyone separated from the pack with him?
Reggie Rankin (3:05 PM)
hey Chris, I think GTown is a major player for Christmas along with Villanova, Ohio State, Indiana, Texas and Florida. GTown's success with post players and great tradition in the past will certainly help.
Michael (Worthington)
Do you think Jeff Boals will help Ohio State's Big Man development?
Reggie Rankin (3:07 PM)
Hey Mike, Absolutely. Boals is a tremendous coach of post players. He will bring experience toughness and competitiveness along with knowledge of the game. Expect the Buckeyes bigs, who were pretty good to continue to improve. The Buckeyes have two high-level asst coaches in Boals and Allan Major. The Buckeyes are in good hands.
Reggie Rankin (3:09 PM)
