jay (9:55 AM)

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jay in here early? Is this Bizzaro First Take?
jay (9:56 AM)
i know right???? im ready to go, time to kill so i said, let's just take a peek in the room and see whats up!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I'm ready for it to end, Jay. I hope the Yankees take care of Pedro tonight. Looking for the 2003 ALCS all over again.
jay (9:57 AM)
spoken like a true yankee fan. hey if you dont do it tonight, the pressure is squarely on you guys!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Just the two of us here, Craw Dad? Where's everyone else?
jay (9:59 AM)
sleeping. hahah! we can rock it though.
Terry (Bedford,Indiana)
I love this show
jay (9:59 AM)
it loves you too terry!
mike (Atlanta)
i want to see pedro pitch a complete game shut out then look up at yankee stadium and say "who's your daddy!"
Reischea (9:59 AM)
Morning Nation. Hope everyone is having a workable hump day.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Hey I work for the Yankees AAA team. Have to support the boys.
mike (Atlanta)
hey im here!
Roller (Kentucky)
Honestly, what are all the Yanks fans gonna think if they don't win the WS this year, fire Girardi??!!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Question for the group. Is it OK to root for two teams in one sport if they don't play in the same league/conference? For example, I root for the Braves and Yankees. Is this a problem as long as if they play each other in the World Series I root for only one to win?
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Morning first take...Cubs have new ownership...will start winning their 25 titles in 2010
scott (niagara falls)
good morning all
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
JB, I too am a Braves fan...is it wrong that I want the Phils to win?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mike (Atlanta) If Pedro throws a complete game shut out I will personally deliver a case of pens to Jay for dropping practice.
Z Riley (St. Louis)
What about Le Moyne College beating Syracuse in the Dome????
BENGALBILL (cincinnati)
mornin naton
Frank (NY)
It's allowable I guess, gives you something to root for in the other league
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Good morning, Reischea. A little down that 'Cuse lost to a Division II team last night but unlike college football, it won't really be a big deal if the team bounces back strong.
nick (clyde)
jay, if you had tickets to the cleveland browns -baltimore ravens game on monday the 16th, would you join the "brown out" the two season ticket holders are trying to organize?
mike (Atlanta)
joe flacco on the show? Finally some ravens coverage
Ty. New jersey [via mobile]
Yankees are under so much pressure. They will fold
scott (niagara falls)
pedro wont last through 4 innings
mike (Atlanta)
j.b. i think its fine. i root for the wizards and nuggets. but if the wizards play the nuggets im with the wizards. you have to pick a number 1
joey,orlando,fl [via mobile]
Did the magic make a mistake keeping jameer nelson an trading rafer
Umor (Detroit)
Mornig 1st take Crew, I konw one team the pistons can beat. The magic
Chris ( Albuquerque)
I agree that sitting a 1/2 game is a joke. Up the ante and teach a lesson by forcing Spikes to wear an eye patch during the half he plays. Eyes are not replaceable!
john (panama city bch, fl)
jay, six games is enough...can't we replace this travesty with batting cages and a dunking booth?
Jon (Hartsville SC)
What about those pistons with a win over orlando!
Andrew ((Des Moines, Iowa))
I root for the Twins and Cubs, except when they play. I don't see a problem with that and it has never created the world series conflict you have J.B. I can only hope someday it will.
Jon (Hartsville SC)
The Pistons will be the ultimate suprise team!
Frank (NY)
As a Yankee fan, didn't expect to make the WS, was looking to next year with Wang and Nady healthy and Hughes in the rotation... no qualms if we lose, though I'd prefer to win
scott (niagara falls)
syracuse has no good players left
jay (10:05 AM)
no.
mod (10:06 AM)
yeah, thats the battle call of most Yankee fans, we'll get 'em next year when we have Nady back...you serious?
Jon (Hartsville SC)
When we get rip back we will start winning more!
BENGALBILL (cincinnati)
are teams that play florida now going to have to wear saftey glass
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Jon: The Pistons will be good if Stuckey realizes his role and gets more assists
mike (Atlanta)
there ya go frank set the bar low so you can't be disappointed. thats what jay does
Dylan J (Alaska)
im not much of a baseball guy, but it sure looks like Joba Chaimberlain is looking like a bust after being annointed "next"
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Not sure why everyone is jumping off the Yankees so fast? If they had been told before the series started the Yankees would be up 3-2 going home for games 6-7 I am sure they would have taken that
Umor (Detroit)
Old time Yankees and this series would be over. These yanks aren't made of the same stuff. They are a bunch of hired guns.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Chris: I wouldn't say it's wrong, just unusual.
Frank (NY)
It's more Wang, and I guarantee I don't speak for most of the Yankees fans.. no battle cry
mike (Atlanta)
this is how spoiled yankee fans are. they don't just want to win they wanna win the way they used to. dominantly
Roller (Kentucky)
Joba is not a bust, he hasn't been coached very well and hasn't been used correctly.
mike m (canton,oh)
frank c,mon the yanks had the best record in the league without wang,so as a yankees fan why wouldnt you think they would win back in ny and up 3-2
dana (10:11 AM)
morning
scott (niagara falls)
thats right mike m. if you dont try to beat your oponent into the ground and always try your best no matter what, you shouldnt be playing the game!!!!
Jonathan (ATL)
Pedro will make it through 4 innings then the hinges will come off the door with the Phillies bullpen....Yanks win going away tonight
Brian (SoCal)
Yankees will win tonight. Then we can get back to the NFL and start thinking a little about the NBA.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
And Skip is spoken like a true Yankee Hater
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
PS: I think this WS has the most players from Arkansas; Burnett, Cliff Lee, and Hinske!
willie (topeka basement)
he always seems like a true yankees fan
jeremy (new york)
as a mets fan i hope the choking isn't becoming a n.y. thing like my Giants even the jets look better than us maybe the world will end in 2012.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Morning dana...Mod
BENGALBILL (cincinnati)
mornin dana is the finger better?
Roller (Kentucky)
Skip picked the Sox
Kevin (OH)
The battle cry of yankees is the sound of a cash register opening
Jonathan (ATL)
Now I know that the Yanks will win tonight....Skip hidden desire is for them to lose...that's a great sign for victory!
john (panama city bch, fl)
Rob is GREATEST debater EVER, he ALWAYS beats Skip...oops sorry i was having a Jets moment.
Brian (SoCal)
Morning Dana. Are Lions fans really down on Stafford already.
Frank (NY)
They never earned my trust this year.. not sure why.. just wasn't feeling it toward the end of the year.. it's a gut thing, makes no logical sense to me why I don't
Jon (Hartsville SC)
Pistons will finish 4th,5th, or 6th in the east that's my prediction!
Z Riley (St. Louis)
Does Ryan Howard get out of his funk? He needs to because Yanks should pitch to Chase Utley
BENGALBILL (cincinnati)
who does skip like
lawrence (stowe vt)
Will the yankees skipper lose his job if the yankees lose the WS?
Jon (Hartsville SC)
Chris we will be good even with stuckey playing like he is now!
Umor (Detroit)
As a Lions fan, I like stafford. doesn't have his main reciever right now. and the o-line anit protecting him
Z Riley (St. Louis)
Sorry should't pitch to Utley
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jon - Its November and your already actling like the Pistons just won the division. They beat Orlando last night, but deal
mike m (canton,oh)
bengalbill skip loves his cowboys and brett favre
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Rob Parker, we have no hope today. Get that man some coffee before skip wins every debate.
Jonathan (ATL)
Good question Jay. Pettite won't make cooperstown because of the steroids use...but he should
Roller (Kentucky)
You can't go to the HOF if you do ROIDS!
Jon (Hartsville SC)
Good Morning Dana
mike m (canton,oh)
joba needs to be the set up man then take over as a closer once mo calls it a career if he ever decides to retire
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Jay you're way wrong on Pedro, he is a sure fire H.O.F
mod (10:16 AM)
Pedro is a lock for the Hall
Jon (Hartsville SC)
I'm not saying this because they beat Orlando that is what I know
BENGALBILL (cincinnati)
skip is on jerry jones pr team
Z Riley (St. Louis)
Trust me St. Louis appreciate having the Lions on the schedule because there was no telling when the Rams were going to get a win
willie (topeka basement)
pedro hasnt been linked to roids
scott (niagara falls)
now see that mike m we finally agree on something
Umor (Detroit)
Pistons just have orlando number.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Good morning, Dana. Hope this day finds you well and happy.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
For 4-5 years between 1999-2003 Pedro was argueably the best pitcher in baseball
Brian (SoCal)
Umor, I was asking cause I saw a lions O lineman defending staffod from the fans in JRIB.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Bob Gibson must be wondering why teams need 3 pitchers in every game
Jay (Ft. Lauderdale)
Can somebody in here tell me what baseball team won the most game on the road this season?
mike (Atlanta)
i really skip woud stop saying you know and i know. YOU KNOW NOTHING
john (panama city bch, fl)
Brian, how COULD they be? He's a rookie (no ststs to refer to) AND he's been injured (not able to ACCRUE those stats), they gotta be patient.
Sean (North Dakota)
Jay, I cannot believe that you would even suggest that Pedro is a borderline H.O.F.
mike m (canton,oh)
only thing pedro is going to keep saying tonight is the yankees are my daddy, yankees are my daddy
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
I really can't decide if Pettite is a H.O.F. To me if you're the best playoff pitcher ever, most wins, and you have 5 rings, it's really hard to keep him out.
Umor (Detroit)
Lidge just been up and down all season
Jay (Ft. Lauderdale)
Pedro is going to be the Yankees daddy tonight.
Brian (SoCal)
Why is Pettite getting a pass on PED use? He admitted to using but he is going to the HOF?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Umor: The Marlins used hired guns. The Yankees sign guys and actually keep them around for a while.
jay (10:18 AM)
i think he's in. i asked 4 voters this morning, and i got 2 ins, and 2 no's. they say he needs more wins. skip and rob agree.
Jonathan (ATL)
Boy, Rob just threw a nice roundhouse at Skip....this year's Phillies aren't last year Phillies...but it doesn't matter, the Yanks will win tonight
Ty. New jersey [via mobile]
Howard 2 hrs tonight
Jonathan (ATL)
Is it me or does the NBA lack star power and top tier players like it has in the past?
lawrence (stowe vt)
Lakers dont appear to be as dominate as I thought they would be, or Gasol is a much better player, and needed for the lakers to be A dominate team.
Jon (Hartsville SC)
I Think Ben Gordon and Rip Hamilton will be Strong Combo Kinda like what the pistons wanted out of A.I
Scott (C.B., FL)
If Sandy Koufax is in with 7 or 8 dominant season you have to put Pedro in the HOF, he was every bit as good as Koufax
jay (10:20 AM)
im with you. pettitte is in for me. the hgh thing will be a factor though. if they let him in, then how do they keep out bonds, mcgwire, clemens et all...
Jermaine (Charlotte)
The Spikes suspension doesn't surprise me because from the treatment from the officials to the to the treatment from he BCS we all know that the Florida Gators are above the law. If you disagree tell me why Cooper never seems to get called for grabbing the jersey's of defenders to slingshot past them and Tim Tebow for his reactions to every big gain. Or the lack of a penalty when Spikes commited that spineless eye gouge?
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, if the voters put Pettite in then they have ALOT of explaining to do about the rest of the guys who used steroids who aren't in.
jay (10:20 AM)
agreed.
Mark (Cookeville Tn)
Skip is freakin crazy. Real pressure is playing in New York everyday!
Jon (Hartsville SC)
The Lakers will finish 3rd in the west but i still think they will be in the finals
Champ (Bmore)
I'm sorry!!! Reischea "did" say hello this morning. Please excuse me since I haven't had my Caramel Macchiato yet today lol
tomwit warren,mi [via mobile]
I say bring back the roid days. Nobody even hit 40 dingers this year. What fun is that?
Frank (NY)
Ok, just got some coffee, better comments moving forward
Brian (SoCal)
Lakers do miss Gasol. He is a big help in getting the correct matchups. When he gets back Lakers will start winning comfortably again. Plus it is the first week still.
Umor (Detroit)
JB: The Marlins hired guys that fit their team to a T.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Do ya'll think a super bowl vs. the Colts and Saints would be the best and most hyped ever?
Jimmy (Nashville, TN.)
All those Colts fans that whine about no talk about the Colts...here it is.
scott (niagara falls)
gasol is definately missed
Roller (Kentucky)
Before we start saying who is the best team in the NBA, can we see more than 10 games?!
willie (topeka basement)
with three backs dont u guys think that helps new orleans in the winter?
scott (niagara falls)
but those players lied about using roids. pettitte came right out and said he took it
Sean (North Dakota)
I don't THINK Pedro is in, I KNOW he is in. No doubt about it. You were asking the wrong voters. Pettitte would open up a can of worms, besides, cut his playoff opportunities in half and we're not having this discussion.
Brian (SoCal)
Saints remaining schedule IS pretty easy.
mike (Atlanta)
yeah im with skip i would take peyton over brees. He's done it in the pressure moments brees hasnt
mari (ok)
both the saints and the colts will have a loss after the pats visit
Umor (Detroit)
Cowboys anit beating the saints. They playing in december. Cowboys don't win in December.
lawrence (stowe vt)
That power rankings also had the giants as the number 1 team and how is that working for them
scott (niagara falls)
hey lawrence that was funny
Umor (Detroit)
How Can Pedro not be a H.O.Famers. Oh lest I forget Jack Morris. Come on Voters. Put him in already. Winnest pitcher of the 80's.
Jon (Hartsville SC)
I would take Brees BEcause he can move out the pocket better than peyton!
Jonathan (ATL)
Colts have the Pats, Ravens and Broncos on their second half schedule. If they come away with wins against those three then there is no denying that they are better than the Saints regardless of the Saints final record.
jay (10:26 AM)
we were talking about that very thing in the meeting. its a shame he's not in! a real shame!!!!
Corey (louisiana)
Oh, so I guess Skip didn't see the almighty Colts struggle with San Fran also
mike (Atlanta)
my point exactly umor.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
Skip i totally agree colts!!!!!
Jonathan (ATL)
Umor, I'll take it a step further....the Saints will crush the overrated Cowboys in December. No contest.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Cowboys do win in December. They aren't 0 for all games played in the month. Another misconception listening to the media.
Brian (SoCal)
Manning is better than Brees, but Brees has more dangerous weapons.
Frank (NY)
They won a Superbowl against Sexy Rexy...
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Umor, neither did the Colts win in January until they did. Past years are past years, gotta wait and see.
Jonathan (Bloomington, IN)
No one is going undefeated...Colts are the better overall team because they are CONSISTENT!
mike m (canton,oh)
ok all you yankee haters or phillies fans,if perdro leaves the game tonight with a lead who will close it for them because no way pedro will pitch past the 6th or 7th inning
Cal (Penn)
It will be warm weather regardless.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
The question was who has the better TEAM skip, cracks, were undefeated. we're battle tested. do you no anything about the sport or are you all numbers?
lawrence (stowe vt)
Colts are a product of their weak schedule, they will lose in the first round of the playoffs AGAIN...
Frank (NY)
Skip, this is an Easy one? It's close, but have to give the edge to Saints for their RB's.. maybe I'm just pulling because Darren Sharper is from The College (started the whole, The... intro)
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Does Jeff Fisher come back for another season in Tennesse or is he ready for a new challenge?
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
How does the #1 team start 24-3 against the dolphins - skip needs better competition - WOW
Sean (North Dakota)
I love it when Skip says, "deep down, I'm just not sure if they believe that yet". Seriously, they're pros, they arn't worried about the past!
Roller (Kentucky)
C. Paul- the most overrated nba player in the league.
Ray (NOLA)
If the saints can make it to the SB i think i cry like a baby. Who would have though it. New Orleans would be crazy.
dana (10:28 AM)
bengalbill thanks, finger's just about there
lawrence (stowe vt)
The colts are the Braves of the 90's, great regular season team who cant win when it counts
dana (10:28 AM)
ray - i just loved your post about the saints - it's how i'd feel if the lions ever made it. stop laughing. saints were once almost as bad.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The Saints aren't invincible. They made the Falcons offense look explosive. They sure didn't look that good against Dallas.
dana (10:29 AM)
shane no where near invincible - they're just finding ways to win..which is what matters most in the end.
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Are you guys going to do a story on Michael Oher or the upcoming movie - what an amazing story
dana (10:30 AM)
Steve, hope to. We talked with him about the movie before/around the draft. We'll see what kind of access we can get. movie looks great
BENGALBILL (cincinnati)
dana glad to hear it if you were in the nfl you would be out for the season
dana (10:30 AM)
bengalbill you mean wouldn't right? i've played hurt without complaint. I have learned however that an infected finger is a pain in the behind when it comes to healing.
Ty. New jersey [via mobile]
Power ranking thing is a joke
dana (10:31 AM)
ty, it's been interesting to me this year - they've got just 4 voters and i know and respect them all BUT some of the ranks make no sense. Like the jets still ahead of the dolphins. don't care what the record shows...can't see that.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Dana, do you really wanna say your going to agree with Skip and think the cowgirls will beat the Saints
dana (10:32 AM)
Ryan, never said that but i do think they'll lose a game or two
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Thanks Dana - I hope this movie will make people consider the potential that is in so many kids that live "forgotten" lives out there - most of them are just like all the other kids - but with less opportunity
nick (clyde, oh)
dana, what happened to the wolverines?
dana (10:33 AM)
nick it's called rebuilding. it's never easy and like i've been saying - even while they were winning - consistency is the biggest problem with a young rebuilding team. defense is awful and has been exposed and that's opened up the offense to have more of it's weaknessess exposed. molk was a huge loss at center, back for a series or what a couple plays against psu then hurt again. REBUILDING.
Jon (Hartsville SC)
I have never seen a worse defensive effort ever! and of all teams it had to be the wolverines!!!
dana (10:34 AM)
jon not sure if it's effort as much as ability and schemes
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
Why are the Patriots ranked 4 or 5, they havn't proved much to me..
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Look - when you are a GM and play poker - "AI" means two things - Allen Iverson = All In - he paid to see the cards, now he has to deal with the results
dana (10:35 AM)
kyle they obliterated some teams they should have and then rallied to win some games that were in doubt. but again, the power rankings to me this year seem very off. i wouldn't get all caught up in it, not like the bcs - means nothing, you know
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Rebuilding is hard to watch: ie. Arkansas Razorbacks. All sophomores.
Roller (Kentucky)
Iverson is a friggin cry baby, he needs to go play for the Globetrotters!!
Reischea (10:35 AM)
I just don't get the frustration coming off the bench during his first appearance since coming back from injury. Not all that uncommon to ease a fella in to make certain everythings all good.
dana (10:35 AM)
roller - i've officially had enough with AI this year. I was fine till now
scott (niagara falls)
its coaching dana
willie (topeka basement)
why wld u get iverson if u knew he wldnt want to come off the bench
dana (10:36 AM)
scott a lot of it is personnel right now too. im not sold on robinson as d coord, but i'm less sold on the ability of some of those players
dana (10:37 AM)
And if anyone thought michigan would turn it around in a year, with a new system, coach, etc...i can be of no help to you b/c you're living in fantasyland
Roller (Kentucky)
Agree Dana- he needs to retire or shut up and play.
Sean (North Dakota)
Yeah, Iverson used to be one of my favorites, now he's just a bitter old man.
Sean (North Dakota)
Yeah, Iverson used to be one of my favorites, now he's just a bitter old man.
Brian (SoCal)
AI should be coming off the bench. His skills have declined.
Bob (pa)
waive good bye to AI,memphis.just let him go,and hope nobody picks him up.His act is getting old,put him in the same boat as starberry
Jonathan (ATL)
Agreed Willie, Memphis knew what they were getting....now they need to deal with it.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The power rankings are the same as in college football. They don't reflect who play the best for the most part they go by big name teams despite their records.
Jonathan (Bloomington, IN)
BCS = Biggest Corrupted System...EVER
Jon (Hartsville SC)
I am the greatest scorers of all time and i'm coming off the bench for MEMPHIS!?
James (Denver)
137 points in 4 games leading the NBA in scoring and his team is 4-0 Carmelo is going to win the MVP and the Nuggets are going to win the West . Lakers and San Antonio have struggled with changes . Denver stayed the same and looks like the best team in basketball .
Reischea (10:38 AM)
Very difficult for a star to accept, that he's not 'that guy' anymore.
Cal (Penn)
A-lright I-ts over
scott (miami)
coming off the bench cant be that bad...just ask udonis haslem he's dong just fine
Reischea (10:39 AM)
Last time I checked Manu Ginobli was also a pretty awesome sixth man.
Umor (Detroit)
The Microwave the best six man I've ever seen.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
NCAA Football Championship will always be "mythical" because it pairs teams who some people "think" are better...imagine if the NFL did that
Cal (Penn)
It's called sucking in your E-G-O
Jon (Hartsville SC)
Yeah But Ginobli Was never a starter!
Jonathan (ATL)
I think Iverson would be cool coming off the bench if it was for a championship veteran team like the Celtics, Spurs or, dare I say, the Lakers. But Memphis has been in the toilet for so many years that he probably should be starting.
Corey (louisiana)
What in the world is going on with Pau Gasol's injury? We don't NEED him back right now but it wold be great to have him on the court.
mari (ok)
let ai and starbury go to europe and reap those benefits
Ty. New jersey [via mobile]
Iverson just don't get it
Ray (NOLA)
Odam didn't like it at first but how he love coming off the wood and still get pay like a starter.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
'Sheed could get 6th man of the year...
Reischea (10:42 AM)
They played with it during a few stints in the past, and he simply worked better as the sixth man. I'm just saying, just because your mind says your still the best, doesn't mean you are. Stop complaining and do it on the court.
Jon (Hartsville SC)
Iverson needs to start! Especially if your MEMPHIS
James (Denver)
SheP3 is the most overrated player in the NBA ! The Hornets lost a home Playoff game to the Denver Nuggets by 54 points . SheP3 has no heart and will never lead a team deep into the Playoffs .
john (panama city bch, fl)
Havlicek used to start on the bench...gave him an opportunity to read opponents and confer w/ coach before making adjustments.
Champ (Bmore, Maryland)
That's true but Ginobli plays wayyyy more than 18 minutes. Plus I agree with Umor that Vinnie Johnson is the best 6th man ever.
Brian (SoCal)
Don't even mention AI on the lakers. they do not need THAT.
Roller (Kentucky)
The Celtics are my team and I do NOT want to see AI on that bench.
Jonathan (ATL)
LOL, that's why I said "dare I say, the Lakers", Brian
tomwit nj [via mobile]
Gnobli has some rabid fans.
jay (10:45 AM)
OSCAR DE LA HOYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jon (Hartsville SC)
But Ginobli is more effective off the bench but iverson Isn't he is more effective when he is in the starting lineup!
mike (Atlanta)
AI should have gone to miami or Charlotte
Umor (Detroit)
Brain freeze from Jay and Dana. LOL
Ryan (Bogalusa)
PLease dont mess with the lakers, i agree
Reischea (10:45 AM)
We'll see how it all works out for him. If that hamstring is in fact healthy, I seriously doubt AI will be coming off the bench.... that is barring a serious deterioration of skills.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Jay, he may be able to box and sing, but you are still "The most interesting man in the world"...stay thirsty my friends
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Reischea - AI is a career problem, they would have to pay me.. um, about what those nba coaches get paid.. to coach him - lol
scott (miami)
roberto duran was a boxer/singer
Champ (Bmore, Maryland)
AI, OJ and Rudy spells LOTS OF POINTS. They need the big youngin (Thabeet) to control the lane inside because they are not the best defenders by any stretch
john (panama city bch, fl)
I can speak Russian- IN French....WITH A CAJUN ACCENT. I am the Most Interesting Man in the World11
Reischea (10:49 AM)
Nice
dana (10:49 AM)
scott, i believe it was roberto duran. nice work. who i was thinking of that is, not jay
dana (10:51 AM)
i gotta be honest, i know you all love mma. So not interested...though brett was a nice guy
Erick (Cleveland)
How come every time Rob is on your show he takes a shot at the Rays? Why cant he give them credit for winning the East and making "his" Yankees miss the playoffs for the first time in 14 years? Or give them credit for beating the defending champs in the ALCS? He continues to say that the real phillies arent performing in this WS, well the same could be said about the Rays last year.
dana (10:52 AM)
erick, rob doesn't answer questions here. you'll have to go to clickondetroit.com
Justin (Tallahassee, FL)
Jay.... You and Pacquiao should have a singing contest.
jay (10:54 AM)
i sing like doves on a soft cloud on a spring day....
Justin (Tallahassee, FL)
Jay.... You and Pacquiao should have a singing contest....
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Someone stumped the Bayless!
john (panama city bch, fl)

Sean (North Dakota)
Skip "B-List". That's Skip's nickname.
dana (10:55 AM)
john, no clue. they are like january 28th or so.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jay - the only thing you can sing is the Ohio St fight song and I am guessing not very well!
jay (10:56 AM)
ive had enougth practice signing it on the 3rd sats in november recently!!!
nick (clyde, oh)
jay, you need to get the two browns fans that are trying to organize the "brown out" against the ravens on monday the 16th on the show
jay (10:56 AM)
we talked about it.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Jay stop it, you cant even drop the pen in the hole. i could do it on the first try.
jay (10:57 AM)
oh ryan with the pen drop smacktalk. bring it pal. im unbeaten! even ocho cinco couldnt hang!
Umor (Detroit)
Dana or Reisch either of you sing when doves cry.
jay (10:57 AM)
ive heard reisch sing! girl can belt!!!! true story.
john (panama city bch, fl)
jay, are you sure that you don't screech like an owl on a cold winter night?
jay (10:58 AM)
hmmm, i dont think so. i think im really good. would rock idol if i was 20 yrs younger.
Evan (Danville, Virginia)
jay maybe you should sing the eagles anthem
Jonathan (ATL)
By the way, the show on Len Bias last night was great! Those 30 for 30 shows are well done.
jay (10:58 AM)
i sang 3 solos in school. left em begging for me.
dana (10:58 AM)
jonathan, thought it was really well done too.
Frank (NY)
Jay has been called the Song Bird of his generation by some.. his voice is like a combination of Fergie and Jesus
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Thats fine Jay! This weekend you won't be singing it much when Ohio St goes to Happy Valley and the Terrell Pryor that played against Purdue returns.
nick (clyde, oh)
jay, penn st or ohio st?
jay (10:59 AM)
penn state
mike m (canton,oh)
jay i bet you really sing like finger nails on a chalk board
john (panama city bch, fl)
First Take "S-Kareoke" contest, I see it happening.
jay (10:59 AM)
come on mike...no love??? when i perform, i do so as the most interesting man in the world.
Reischea (10:59 AM)
I would so be all in for that!!!!!
Jonathan (ATL)
Hey Jay, you better watch out calling the girls....I thought Reis and Dana were going to jump you the other day when you said that.
jay (10:59 AM)
true.
jay (11:00 AM)
im the 2 seed.
willie (topeka basement)
ur telling ur age jay
jay (11:00 AM)
im 44. no biggie to me
willie (topeka basement)
beautiful singing sports loving girls all around. can i be your assistant jay?
jay (11:04 AM)
come on over willie!
The Boz (Bolivian)
Jay, I used to be #44.
GregP (NASTYNATTI)
Jay if my Bengals beat the Ravens again do you think Skip will hop the bandwagon and jump on my WHO-DEY BUS!!!
john (panama city bch, fl)
My "fat-l'il girlfriend" belts pretty good...
jay (11:04 AM)
ouch!
Rickey Henderson (Hall of Fame)
Rickey don't sing professionally, but if Rickey did, Rickey'd be the greatest singer of all-time.
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
skip is the old man who yells at kids for walking on his lawn
jay (11:04 AM)
true story!
john (panama city bch, fl)
jay- the word was..."S-Kareoke"- Emphasis on SCARY, lol
jay (11:04 AM)
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! i missed that.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Jay, need two assistants?
jay (11:05 AM)
i need 10.
Jonathan (ATL)
Oh...so the LeMoyne/Cuse game last night was an exhibition? If so, so what if they beat Syracuse. It doesn't count! That's like the Rams beating the Steelers in the preseason. So what.
jay (11:05 AM)
exhibition doesnt count.
Justin (Tallahassee, FL)
Jay- Do you think Florida State will ever be a dominate football team again?
jay (11:06 AM)
yes.
justin (california)
hey jay can the phillies come back and win the world series????
jay (11:06 AM)
they can. im not sure they will. but they have the pieces to do it.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Sign me up for #3 then jay
Champ (Bmore, Maryland)
I would like to be a judge
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I sign me up!
jay (11:07 AM)
youre all in! at some point we do need to throw an appreciation party. to thank our loyal viewers for making us such a success.
Jonathan (ATL)
Dana and Jay, is the shelf life of an NFL RB getting shorter and shorter? James is only 31 and looks like he's out of the NFL.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Reich, can you sing? no jokes
jay (11:08 AM)
ive heard the avg rb lasts 5 yrs. alot are 2 and donw, the good ones seem to have 10 yrs in them tops. thats what makes emmitt and walter and others so impressive.
Nelson (Norristown, Pa)
Jay, what do you think about the NY Giants?
Reischea (11:08 AM)
I can hold my own. I'm not running out to sign a recording deal or anything, but I can hold it down.
jay (11:08 AM)
they got fat on an easy sked early, and are getting pounded since...
Erick (Cleveland)
jay are you guys ever going to bring back Woody Paige to battle skip again?
jay (11:09 AM)
yep! he'll be back. he was in a few months back. it was big fun!
lawrence (stowe vt)
You show fan appreciation everyday by chatting with us...THANK YOU!
jay (11:09 AM)
thats the least we can do!
James (Denver)
AI scored 11 points in 18 minutes . The Grizzlies play no defense . There only chance of winning is to score alot of points . AI should be starting .
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
jay or dana or both who you got this weekend the birds or the cats in the jungle sunday?
jay (11:10 AM)
birds. sorry.
scott (niagara falls)
ha ha big fun i always say that
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Woody pulled off a Wizard of OZ costume thing on Around the Horn that was great...
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Bart Scott chat was great, hes a funny dude
Al (The Bay Area)
Woody is 2funny dat will b a show! i cant wait!
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Steve Evans - great interview!
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
You go Jay - love it when people are not worried about their age..29 here - lol
Evan (Danville, Virginia)
jay do you think that Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the league
jay (11:11 AM)
i do.
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, you want to show us fan appreciation.....debate Skip for us on air and lay the smackdown on him...we will forever be in your debt
jay (11:12 AM)
bombard our twitter page with the idea. they listen to requests there.
Travis (FL)
Jay....Should Florida State's Christian Ponder be considered for heisman with the stats he has despite the teams record?
jay (11:12 AM)
considered yes. but he wont win.
Reischea (11:12 AM)
Keep in mind I believe the average is a five year career for running backs. James has been in the league for 11 years including this year. That's a lot of time on that body. And I think he's ranked 10th all time in yards... I think.
john (panama city bch, fl)
jay, if avg career is 5 yrs, and- if i'm not mistaken the NFLPA requires 7 yrs to retire, are there alot of players NOT -receiving benefits?
jay (11:12 AM)
thats no coincidence by the way.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
sorry Jay, cant twitter from work..
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Jay watch Pedro's duece tonight....that's the type of pitches you'll be seeing next month.
Marc (Canton, OH)
ditto, was really impressed with B. Scott yesterday!!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jay needs 10 just to take messages for him when he's on one of his many Jaycations.
jay (11:13 AM)
well, its a tough life. i live vicariously, through myself.
jay (11:13 AM)
speaking of that. huge game this weekend. im throwing on 12 days rest. watch out baby!
justin (california)
hey jay who is your super bowl pick this year???
jay (11:14 AM)
minn and indy...minn wins.
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Hayden - text @firsttake - jay should debate skip / to 40404 -
Rick (Tenn.)
Jay For Heisman!!!
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
I heard Jay once experienced an awkward moment , just to see what it was like
Umor (Detroit)
Throwing on 12 days rest. You better be ready.
Al (The Bay Area)
Jay would lay da Smack-a Down on skip!!! Jay seems lik he always want 2 join the debates but the producers are screamin in his ear "dont do it Jay!!"
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Herm Edwards doesn't fear anyone. I would love to see him jump across the table and layout Skip
dana (11:19 AM)
mark, i didn't realize he was coming in and I'm so exctied. love herm
Jonathan (ATL)
So Dana, are we going to see you do that 1/2 marathon next year? The show should chronicle your journey and make that a segment if you decide to do it.
dana (11:20 AM)
jonathan, still don't know but no chronicling the journey. It's something i'd want to do on my own.
John (FLA)
Dana - Do you see the Gators staying undefeated this year?
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
If ESPN gave a little more coverage to MMA, we wouldnt have to fork out $50 for the fights, cmon Jay, Dana, Reis, see what you can do. For me Dana?
Reischea (11:21 AM)
Sorry guys, MMA does nothing for me.
dana (11:21 AM)
hmmm john, great question. man i could see bama beating them. but ummm...i'll say yes.
Brian (SoCal)
Can herm bring ronnie Lott to lay out skip too?
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
The Gators already lost to Arkansas
dana (11:23 AM)
chris a, sorry. gotta go by the scoreboard
Jonathan (ATL)
Rob...way to lay down the smackdown on Skip and call him out! That was classic.
mike (Atlanta)
skip doesn't talk when he's told to shut up? we tell em to shut up all the time he just keeps on rolling
justin (california)
danna didnt u work for news 10 in sacramento california???
dana (11:24 AM)
justin i did. spent 6 years there.
Mark (Tulsa)
Reischea-- Brett Favre doesnt do it for 99% of the population, but he is still incessantly covered by ESPN. doesnt matter what you guys like, its the consumer.
Reischea (11:26 AM)
ESPN doesn't care what I like or dislike. I was simply telling you my thoughts on MMA.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Reish, Happy Birthday!
Reischea (11:26 AM)
Thanks, but my birthday was a couple months back.
Al (The Bay Area)
Careful! Herm still has it!! He could giv it 2 skip!!
jeff (NH)
Reishea needs to learn the show isnt about her likes or dislikes...
Reischea (11:30 AM)
People, again, I was simply sharing a point that I am not a fan of MMA. ESPN's televising selections have nothing to do with me, and I never said they do or should.
GregP (NASTYNATTI)
Jay would kill Skip...I agree Al you can tell he wants to get in these debates but seems to always hold his tongue
jay (11:31 AM)
its not always easy!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Last I checked it wasn't against any rules for someone to have an opinion. Reischea doesn't like MMA. LOTS of people don't like MMA. Let's get over this and move on.
dana (11:34 AM)
I'm with JB and by the way...the 99% that don't care about favre, well they watch him and the ratings go up whenever he's playing or talked about. Sorry. MMA has an audience and it gets coverage here but it's never going to get nfl, mlb, nba type...deal.
Mark (Tulsa)
Go talk to Anik, he'll make you a believer, he knows what he's talking about for the most part. What's not to like about MMA? Wait, are you a boxing apologist?
dana (11:36 AM)
mark, i've talked to jon. I just am not into it. I've been to boxing matches, paid for em on ppv and enjoyed em.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
When does MMA get coverage?
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I heard Ronnie Lott sawed a finger off to be able to play. Is that true?
dana (11:37 AM)
hayden at about 1045am this morning on our air. weekly on espn.com with jon anik's show. it's about more than just tv. lots of sports don't get highlights on sportscenter.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
It is a good point though JB, no MMA coverage, ESPN people dislike MMA, see a relation?
Reischea (11:38 AM)
Basically yeah. He injured his pinky finger near the end of tehe 1985 season. Played with it taped, endured massive pain. Was told he could have surgery to repair it but would lose playing time or cut it off and keep rolling.. he chose the latter.
Reischea (11:39 AM)
BTW, not the whole finger, the top of it.
dana (11:39 AM)
hayden, last thing i'm saying on it. there are lots of sports peope here like and don't like and a lot of people that have a say in what goes into a show. if you think we don't do stuff b/c we don't like them then i never would have done an mma interview today. doesn't work that way. you cover what needs to be covered based on a show that's produced by people that are not reischea and i...with segments suggested and done by people that aren't reischea and I. If you think we have that much pull, sorry to say you're wrong. AND shame on you for thinking we'd put personal interest ahead of what's right to do.
willie (topeka basement)
when ppl played for pride
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Mickey Andrews should have been the "coach in waiting" if there should ever be such a thing
Champ (Bmore, Maryland)
Yes sir. Ronnie Lott is the best safety to ever live!!!!
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Hayden, yes, that is very old news.
lawrence (stowe vt)
I am a bears fan and as much as I want to hate Farve I am routing and watching him. Farve is must see tv.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I don't like MMA...you can get the same thing ouside a bar in Philly after an Eagles game...kicking and punching till somebody gives up or is knocked cold
mari (ok)
mma is a wrastlin match in a cage....boring..boxing is a sport...and enjoyable on tv..sadly hockey ( agreat game) is one best watched live...mma belongs at the rodeo
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
The surprise team of the ACC - FSU
mike (Tuscaloosa, Al)
first of all, can i get a roll tide? and second, what do you think the odds are of another controversial call in another big game this weekend in bama v. lsu? who wins?
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I thought it was no rumor, Ronnie Lott was amazing. Ya just dont see that anymore
Al (The Bay Area)
Skip would b beggin the producers to save him from you Jay!!!
dana (11:41 AM)
mike, seems like every week there's one in a game that matters no?
BENGALBILL (Cincinnati)
get him dana
Umor (Detroit)
Ronnie Lott the hardest hitting safety ever.
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
that last post by dana is the reason she should take on Skip..pounding my desk with my fist..let me finish - dana would kick his booty!
dana (11:41 AM)
i'm getting amped here bengalbill!!! let's move on, please.
willie (topeka basement)
please
mike m (canton,oh)
i watched nfl live yesterday and trent dilfer bashed the browns like everyone doent know how bad the browns are,why does espn let him keep talking about the browns,he comes off like a bitter ex-player who is still holding a grudge becuase he was the worst qb the browns had since they came back in 99
justin (california)
they shoudnt even show the MMA on tv
Jonathan (ATL)
Man, Rob and Skip are Fan-haters!
lawrence (stowe vt)
when espn figures how to tap into mma money they will like it and get behind it.
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Lawrence - I am with you on the Farve thing - I want to see him win a Super Bowl and ride off into the sunset, for three months, then come back and play for another team
dana (11:42 AM)
lol steve!!
Mark (Tulsa)
Lawrence is right, its all about money. Put some fights on ESPN or ESPN2 instead of Spike and I'm sure everyone at the WWL would love it suddenly.
mari (ok)
lawrence..get this...IT DOESNT PLAY WELL ON TV... regardless of money which soon enough will be none...its a utube sport..even raw laffs at it...watch spike and cheer there...
dana (11:47 AM)
mark you can air all the mma you want here, i don't earn more money for it, i won't like it any more. it's just an opinion thing. i could rank the 4 majors for you and it isn't quite equal coverage wise. espn might show it more but dont' confuse that for folks here liking it more!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Its always about the benjamins, but why not a 2 minute section on SC? You cover spelling bees cmon
lawrence (stowe vt)
which would draw more friday night fights on espn2 or mma on espn2
dana (11:48 AM)
lawrence would depend on the matchup im sure
lawrence (stowe vt)
If farve does bring a SB to Min I want to see Fran Tarkenton interviewed the monday after the fact, and his feelings on Brett then.
dana (12:04 PM)
talk to you tomorrow
Reischea (12:05 PM)
Later Nation. Talk to ya' tomorrow.
