James (Denver)
The curse of Skip Bayless works both ways he picks your team to win they are going to crumble and loose he picks against your team they are going succeed and win . So with that said please Skip start trashing my Nuggets ! Come up with one of your clever names like maybe Carsmello or call Kenyon Kenyawn some more .
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Rob Parker made Skip look like a fool this post season. Rob was dead on with his baseball picks and Skip wasn't even close
Donald (NJ)
Yankees baby. We won
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Alrite, let's hear it. "Yankee Payroll", wah wah wah
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Morning first take...congrats to all the Yankee fans out there...Go Cubs in 2010
Donald (NJ)
Yankees Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mike (Atlanta)
So i guess $170 million CAN buy a world series
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Morning peoples got coffee and ready to go
Umor (Detroit)
Morning Crew, Happy Birthday Dana.
Reischea (10:04 AM)
Morning Nation! Allow me to congratulate all the Yankees fans! Well done. Your heartwrenching decade long wait has come to an end. Champions again.
Reischea (10:05 AM)
Ahh yes, and shout outs to Dana... it is her birthday today! :-)
Mark (Ann Arbor)
You might not like the Yankees but this was definitely a "team win" every game they won, someone different stepped up weather it was Burnnett in game 2, A-Rod in game 4 or Matsui last night.
Umor (Detroit)
Once Shane Victorino trap that hit by Jeter. I knew it was over with for Philly.
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
I'm toast from sitting up all those nights, but it was totally worth it to see the Bombers take home #27,
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Is today really Dana's birthday? That's cool because mine is tomorrow.
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Ok, I'll admit, it hasnt been a while but Yankee haters (especially Boston fans) make us the way we are.
Reischea (10:06 AM)
I knew it was over for Philly in the first inning. I understand Pedro walked away from that frame with a zero on the board as far as runs, but they were hitting the ball hard early on. Knew from then they had a beat on him.
Dale (Iowa)
Go Hawkeyes! BCS National Title -- here we come.
mike (Atlanta)
oh wow dana happy birthday. sorry you got a yankees world series as a present. Sorry you cant return it
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Since when is a championship in baseball not a 'team win'. I'm so sick of this 'chemistry' thing.
Guy (New York)
Hey thanks for all the hate you guys, all us Yankee fans are loving it!!
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Has anyone found out where Bogalusa is on the map? I bet you Roy Williams will wish he did in after the season ends in December!!! Gd mrng
RJ (Boston)
Happy Birthday Dana!
Drill SGT Jarvis (Fort Knox, KY)
If you have the money, buy the best!! That's why I drive a pick up truck and not a Lamborghini!! Grant it is a Dodge Ram!!, Yeah,,It's a HEMI!! c(*c*)oGood Job Yankees!
Justin (PA)
Salary Cap in baseball anyone????
Rodney Wilcox (Etowah, Tn.)
I use to really love professional baseball but now I think it is so predictable and boring
RJ (Boston)
"Heart wrenching decade long wait"... ha ha... nice cut to you jib Reisch.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
HAPPY BDAY DJ I HEART YA!
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
I'll respect baseball and the Yankees 27 wins when Baseball gets a salary cap - the highest paid player on the Pirates makes 4 mil. - somethings just not right there!!! you cant call that fair competition if you can by yourself a dream team any time you want (Baseball is a mere 13 colonies sport now)
Jonathan (ATL)
I guess we know who's Pedro's Daddy was last night....Matsui!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The Yankees just became a great Mastercard commercial. Can you see it? They announce all the players they brought in and their contracts then finish with, "One World Series title...priceless."
Kent (Germantown, MD)
Does the 27th win, the first in 9 years, does that justify the $$$ spent on payroll
RJ (Boston)
"ONE" world series title, J.B.?ONE??what bizarro alternate universe are you living in man?
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
The managing gaffe of the series was Charlie Manuel starting Joe Blanton in game 4...how often will that be second guessed?
Sporttown (indianapolis)
pedro gave it up!!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
If next years nfl season is uncapped then you will see the cowboys and the redskins become the yankees of the nfl
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I don't see anything wrong with investing in the talent needed to win. Instead of crying for a cap, cry for your team to do what the Yankees do.
Demetric (Orlando)
"Your heartwrenching decade long wait has come to an end".....how long did you work on that, Ries!
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
if the Yankees are gonna give up Matsui then the Dodgers might wanna jump on that right away but oh wait - the Dodgers might not have enough money (think about it
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Stop blaming the Yankees for spending money and putting a good product on the field. Yeah baseball needs a salary cap but it doesn't right now. If the Yankees sat on all the money people would be hammering them for being cheap.
RJ (Boston)
Redskins can't evaluate talen well enough to make their payroll work right.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Skip still doesn't trust CC or A-Champ, trust me.
Bob (pa)
how about cutting the season down a bit,to end the world series sometime in september.the regular season is too long and drawn out
Umor (Detroit)
Anybody but them winning Anybody but them. Hey Rob Parker anit a Yankees fan. I get it. Anybody but Philly for him.
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Don't ask me to feel sorry for the Pirates. Dave Littlefield has more to do with their failure than their lack of resources......
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
HERM!
Roller (Kentucky)
A-Fraud finally got some self gratification for the PED use!!
mike (Atlanta)
J.B. were in a recession not everyone has the money the yanks have. And you can't just go out there and get it....at least not legally.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
JB: Agreed...I never understood why Turner couldn't do that when he owned the Braves!
RJ (Boston)
Seriously, getting on the Yankees for spending too much is so petty. Do you get mad at your neighbors if they buy a new car every year?
Sporttown (indianapolis)
skips' no match for Herm!!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
did anyone read where boise state hired a pr firm to help them get into a bcs game? what a joke join a real conference
Jonathan (ATL)
Mike.....last I checked the NY was hit as hard if not harder by the recession......get over it dude
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Skip will lose today, Herm will stand stern
Guy (New York)
Hey skip, tell Herm he should have stayed with the Jets.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
get him Herm!!!!
dana (10:14 AM)
morning folks. congrats yankees fans!
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Come on PEdro blows throws bp fastballs, now he's sick come on.
tim (Virginia)
why cant skip just say the yankees had 2 much talent
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Congrats yankee fans, your long suffering plight of no championships is finally over after an agonizing whole 9 yrs! How did u get thru it?!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Matsui can't play in the NL. His knees are shot. If he goes anywhere in the U.S., Seattle is his best destination.
willie (topeka basement)
skip is actually right about the manager and those misplayed balls
Mark (Ann Arbor)
I bet Skip didn't sleep last night, trying to come up with his arguement this morning.
Luis (Bronx,NY)
Skip almost called out sick today. As for the yankee haters, bring it on it makes it sweeter.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
OMG....Skip is ridiculious....for real. YOU PLAY TO BEAT SKIP!!(Herms Voice)
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Bitter much, Roller?
tim (Virginia)
morning dana dane
Chris (Boston)
Happy 30th Birthday Dana! ;o)
Umor (Detroit)
Skips Right. Twice against him. Matsui. Should of pulled him from the Game.
Dale (Iowa)
I think AROD's steroid admission (and his subsequent lying) on the heels of APET's PED admission taints this championship more than their bloated payroll ever does
mike m (canton,oh)
finally my 3 yr old nephew knows what its like to live in a world where the yankees are champs
Kent (Germantown, MD)
Giving odds that Skip Bayless says nothing about A-Frauds performance Enhancing drugs
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)your right Boise state needs to jump in the Pac-10
Jason (Charlottesville)
My neighbors buying a new car does not effect an entire league of sports...horrible comparison
willie (topeka basement)
the owners pay the players ppl
Chris (North Charleston )
Dana is skip going to stand up like he said fo the yankees
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Mike: If you can't afford to play with the big boys, sell the team to someone who can.
mike (Atlanta)
jonathan when you have $50 billion dollars and lose a million it doesn't hurt you as much as a guy who had $50 million. So ill get over it dude when baseball puts in a salary cap.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Hi Haters!!!!! GO YANKEES!!!!
RJ (Boston)
Yeah, I don't really get the hatred over the Yankees spending in order to win. Do you all get mad at your neighbors when they by a new car?
Andrew (Boston)
RJ from Boston . The Yankees don't make baseball fun at all by spending so much money. I am a Canadian and a die hard Blue Jay fan and they are in the running for that phenom pitcher Chapman and they have to go up against the Yankees . Who is going to out bid the Yankees?????
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
The only real advantage the Yanks have is that they're not forced to share their tv revenue. Other than that, there's a large group of cheap owners and another group of poorly run teams who can turn a profit and market their team.
scott (niagara falls)
happy birthday dana
Reischea (10:16 AM)
See that three year old nephew thing... I figure you are kidding... but that's the stuff that makes Yankee Haters, Yankee Haters.
Chris (North Charleston )
Skip is going to break the table before 2nd down is over
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
good morn FT,coach herm, pleez tell Skip U play the game the 2 win...ha
Chris (Boston)
They should have pulled Pedro sooner? Where have I heard that one before?! 2003 all over again?
willie (topeka basement)
low blow skip
mendy (okla.)
hey if you got $$$ might as well buy the best...
dana (10:17 AM)
i know!!! i hit him willie, little punch but i was mad for herm
jay (10:17 AM)
congrats to the ny yankees! no matter how much money they spend, they still have to PLAY! the past 8 years they have not, this year they did!! it would have been a meltdown of ,major proportions had they lost, but they didnt so.....hats off to number 27!!
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Happy BDay Dana...it's mine too!
Jonathan (ATL)
Mike, just tell your owner to invest in his team and stop crying about money.
jay (10:19 AM)
that's a misguided statement jonathon. no other team comes close to generating the revenue the yankees do. not even close. teams should not have geographic advantages on a fair and level playing field and they do.thats just the eay it is jonathon...
Sporttown (indianapolis)
low blow skip.
mike (Atlanta)
Jonathan i don't have a favorite baseball team so i don't have an owner to tell anything. I just like baseball and want parody in the sport.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
i agree herm...
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Yankees buy championships...other teams in small markets (like the Twins) have to earn it thru drafts and developing talent. Winning championships that way would be much more gratifying!
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
Finaly, baseball is over! Nothing makes for a worse WS than having the Yankees in it playing a defending champ.....Finaly lets focus on football!!!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
baseball is over lets talk football herm aint a manager hes a coach
Chris (North Charleston )
Money doesn't matter. When they sign randy johnson back in they day they had a payroll over 1 billion dollars. Didn't win with that. Get them there respect
lawrence (stowe vt)
If it was all about the payroll the redskins would be world champs for the past several years
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Former owner of the Minnesota twins is worth 3 times as much as the Steinbrenners. Yet he's willing to let Johan and Torri Hunter leave.
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
DJ, hit him again!!!!!
Jonathan (ATL)
I love it that folks hate the Yankees...it makes the victory all the more sweeter.....
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
A-Champ is second in MVP voting in my opinion
Scott (CB, FL)
Yankee fans should be embarrassed it took 2 billion $ to get another ring, highest payroll in the game for at least the last 30 years and 2 billion since the last one
Jason (Charlottesville)
Sad day in baseball. I was able to spend the last 10 years fighting off all the nay-sayers, showing that you cant just buy yourself a championship, showing teams like the diamonbacks, marlins, white sox, rays, were able to use their farm systems and put together solid teams. All of that became irrelevant last night.
Guy (New York)
Hey, hey, hey They picked the right MVP
Kevin (NY)
The Yankees also have the highest ticket prices in baseball people, so the least they could do is spend the money on the team.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Seriously, once you hear "Enter Sandman" you know the game is over
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Come on Herm Mariano's not in the game unless Hideki gets those RBIs
Kent (Germantown, MD)
SKip....no Godzilla comments
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
If MLB championships are won by pitching why wasn't Rivera are C.C not considered? He did pitch on short rest and performed well.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Im not hatting on the Yankees cause I really dont care about base ball because of the lack of salary cap and thats not the Yankees fault they're playing within the rules - I blame the MLB
RJ (Boston)
Hey rest of the baseball world. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. That's what the Sox finally started doing and they finally won 2 Series... yet Sox fans still complain about the Yankees payroll. Lame Ducks all around.
Andrew (Boston)
People complain about attendance in places like Toronto. Well people in Canada want a winning baseball team, and people find there is no point in going to baseball games when they know their team has no chances of sniffing the post season. Yankees will get in the post season which high price free agent are they going to get next !!!
James (San Antonio)
Go Yankees!!!! Rivera did not allow any runs so Skip baseless continues to look like an idiot, "Rivera was not dominant". No but he still got the job done Mr. Baseless.
mark (houston)
two big guys on a little couch. best segment of the day
scott (niagara falls)
its funny hearing all you people cry about the yankees. hey everyone deal with it!!!!!
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Jay looked scared!!
mike m (canton,oh)
reischea it was a joke i know its not really been long since the last time but im glad they are back on top
Reischea (10:22 AM)
I love D'Brooks and Lomas Brown! Those guys are awesome! :-)
Sporttown (indianapolis)
brooks and brown..new chairs!
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Dana, do you think rob is pressing to hard with that suit!
mike (Atlanta)
well that statement must be true. i mean it came from a GUY in new york.
Kent (Germantown, MD)
Wrong Herm.....Saves don't win the MVP,
willie (topeka basement)
where do u think matsui will go
Isaac (Monterey, CA)
Hahaha. A-Champ. Love it Cory.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Andrew - People in Toronto care about one thing. HOCKEY. Even if the Blue Jays were good no one would show up to the playoffs.
Demetric (Orlando)
New York Yankee is a business and all the money thats generated goes back into the club. Unlike other owner, the Stienbriners don' have other business
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Ok, so Jeter, Mariano, Pettitte, Joba, Phil Hughes, Cano, Gardner, Melky, Posada we're free agents BOUGHT by the Yanks?
dana (10:23 AM)
ryan i like rob's garb today
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, you mean the Cubs, White Soxs, Dodgers or Angels who all play in major corporate markets can't generate the money the Yankees do? The Cowboys do in football and they're not in a top tier market. I think its more about ownership approach as well as the market you're in.
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
LOMAS NEED'S A BIGGER CHAIR...lol
Dale (Iowa)
Brett Favre is MVP -- on pace for 32 td 6 int; his team is 7 - 1
Chris (North Charleston )
Reischea, Skip will not stand up and get the yankees there respect like he said he was. I want to see him do it
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Matsui will be the DH of the Seattle Mariners next season.
Andrew (Boston)
REischea- Brooks and Lomas are awesome but, Derrick Brooks should be playing for a team right now. Somebody has to sign this guy
mendy (okla.)
The saints are good but colts w/ manning much better.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
sharper is a beast!!
Guy (New York)
hey any body notice that skip looks like Maury Povich?
Chris (Boston)
RJ, I agree. Sox fans (and I am one of them) have no right to complain b/c we are doing the same exact thing. IF I was rooting for a small market team I might feel a little different, though.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
that was really cheesy on Lomas and Derrick's part
tim (Virginia)
the saints are scary good but bretts the mvp.
dylan (alaska)
i dont see how a guy that barely played in the ws got the mvp trophy. 3 out of 6 games? i know he was great in that last game, but one game does not make an mvp.
Reischea (10:24 AM)
Mike M from Canton, I know it was a joke, its just, ahh, you know. Quote from Randy Levine (Yankee President): the World Series is RIGHT AGAIN. Uhh, just utterly annoying. Again though, I give it up to the team. They are good, (should be) but are and they did what needed to be done.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Good Morning First Take, WooHoo- baseball's OVER!!! I BEG you...PLEEZE- can we start talking about NEXT YEAR yet???
willie (topeka basement)
sounds good adam
Demetric (Orlando)
Drew "Thank you Shawn Payton for your system" Bress could get the edge of Peyton Manning ever
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Maybe Derrick Brooks is enjoying not waking up sore and tired every Monday
Drill SGT Jarvis (Fort Knox, KY)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANA !! c(*c*)o
Andrew (Boston)
Africa from NY- Arod bought , A.J bought from Toronto, Teixeira bought just to name the KEY guys that brought New York a championship
Scott (CB, FL)
Has there ever been a champion so hated or ridiculed? There might just be a reason ($70 million more on the payroll than any other non-NY team)
dana (10:25 AM)
Thanks for all the bday greetings folks!
Sporttown (indianapolis)
jim caldwell...coach of the year!
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Roy Williams is 100% correct Tony Romo has been on target when throwing to him. Wrong way to go about it but 100% right!!!
Kent (Germantown, MD)
Broncos have played a soft schedule, they have some tough games coming up
josh (astoria)
is skip gonna make herm blow up or back hand him. Yankees won Phillies didnt have it but give the yanks thier due ... matsui is prolly going back to japan
Isaac (Monterey, CA)
Rob's garb might look good today but yesterday was real bad.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Brad Childress should be "Chauffer of the Year"- save the coaching for a strategist!!!!
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
A-Rod came in a trade with a large contract from Texas. Obviously the Rangers thought they had the money.
Vernon Williams (SC)
I wonder if Skip still thinks Roy Williams is worth what was given up for him after his TO like comments
Umor (Detroit)
Any Hot Garbage awards this season?
Kevin (NY)
Why is everyone saying Matsui goes to Seattle just because he's from Japan. Are he and Ichiro even buddies like that?
Reischea (10:26 AM)
Can't find it now, but someone just posted as the days go by, Brooks is probably realizing how good he feels not getting beat up on the field anymore.
mod (10:26 AM)
I agree Kevin, I heard they couldn't stand eachother
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Reischea, I'm sure people could and do make the same argument(s) about USC since you are an alum and a fan, so really, whether you like it or not, your Trojans are kind of like the Yankees of college football, thus its kind of ironic that you'd be hating on Yankee fans/sentiment.
Reischea (10:29 AM)
Honestly, I don't recall hearing the kind of things I hear from Yankee fan (lived in both areas, covered the Yankees for 6 years). Guess what, even if I did,... doesn't matter, USC is my team. Hypocrite sometimes goes with the territory of fandom... and USC is the ONLY team that I am truly an out and out FAN of. I root for many... especially the 49ers, but true fan... ONLY USC.
mark (houston)
haha comparing USC to the Yankees is the most ridiculous statement of the day
James (Denver)
Jay I love your back handed compliments you always give the Yankees . I think youve been spending to much time with Skip !
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Ok, yankees have a FEW guys that came up in their system..which is the exception rather than the rule. Yankee owners and revenue (large market) enable them to buy the best talent. Small market teams could spend all that cash also, but then would lose money and have to fold! So, they have to build teams the hard way...develop their OWN talent...top to bottom of the roster!!!
Howie (Cleveland)
OK Skip, how can you say Philly lost the game instead of NY winning? I can't stand arguments like that. So Manuel left Pedro in for Matsui's 2nd at-bat. Who's he going to turn to? A fragile Hamels? the immortal Scott Erye? Pedro's the best option there. Manuel didn't trust anyone in his pen.
Scott (CB, FL)
The player's Assoc. just lost, in the past you could say $$ doesn't buy championships, well it was just a matter of time (and money) but this might be the best thing to happen to baseball, salary cap might have some fan backing that it didn't have before.
lawrence (stowe vt)
Jay cutler the second comning of Rexy grossman, only a paid a bit more...
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Wow, Jay's chair was much smaller than "two big dudes" but he fit in it just fine!!
jay (10:30 AM)
i tried, but hey what are you going to do?
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Jay are you kidding the good ole boys conference aint gaonna suspend their cash cow
jay (10:31 AM)
hey, we have to tease the segment somehow.... and you never know!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
USC doesn't pay its players though...at least nothing has been uncovered via investigations yet.
Umor (Detroit)
Salary cap in baseball will never happen.
jay (10:32 AM)
i agree. they cant figure it out. and trust me, its baseballs dirty little secret, they NEED the yankees to dominate. largest market, largest fan base, most money, money, money!!!!dont kid yourself. not for a second! mlb is not about, and never will be, creating a fair, equal and balanced league.
josh (astoria)
oh god i love the knicks but ur not getting lebron james
RJ (Boston)
Right... because full ride scholarships and housing and amazing medical coverage and access to everything you'd ever want on campus is "not payment".hear we go with this argument... release the Kraken!
jay (10:33 AM)
dozens of schools offer that rj.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Yeah Reggie Bush didn't get paid. Riiggghhhtttt
jay (10:33 AM)
and i have a bridge for sale!
Andrew (Boston)
Umor from Detroit - Of course the Yankees would never want a salary cap everyone knows that, they wouldn't have been able to buy all that talent this past off season. They are probably going to outbid everyone for that pitching phenom in Chapman
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Wow Lebron to the Lakers that would be insane Jay.
jay (10:34 AM)
cant and wont happen. trust me!
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Jay, On a show called "Criminal Minds" last night they had a serial killer/psychotic taxidermist who would take out the eyeballs of his victims...the timing with the Spikes thing was creepy
jay (10:34 AM)
umm, ok.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
True Jay, but that's the beauty of baseball...anyone can win on any given day.
jay (10:36 AM)
on any given day, you bet! over 162 then the post season marh to win 11...only a handful each year are capable of doing that. this yr, there were 4 teams.they play in the largest, 2 in the 2nd largest and the 4th largest markets in the country.hmmmmm
Guy (New York)
I argee with Jay, No way Lebron goes to LA.
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Teams like a Yankees are supporting other teams with luxury tax and shared revenue! And the teams that collect that money don't use it on acquisition of talent. So stop complaining because the biggest Yankee fan is a billionaire and your teams biggest fan is a guy dressed in face paint.
Vernon Williams (SC)
hey Jay I guesss u and Jameille where right about roy williams not being the #1
terence harris (forest city , nc)
i love mj but its so obvious that the school where his son now attends will be wearing his air jordan symbol or the nike swoosh next year since they were dropped by adidas. clever marketing tatic wouldnt you say
Vernon Williams (SC)
If Lebron really wants to be a billionare athlete then he should go to NY
jay (10:38 AM)
we tried telling skip! he just wouldnt listen. he screamed and yelled at us like we were crazy...nope! skippy was w-r-o-n-g!
mod (10:39 AM)
l.a. works
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Jay, back to sports, you think the Cubs new owners can do what it takes to bring a title to the Windy City in 2010
joey (tx)
Why is everybody mad at the Yankees about money? I know for sure that everybody's college team is good cause they are loaded. I am a fan of Texas and money helps. Cant be a hypocrite.
Roller (Kentucky)
I'm with you Jay, baseball doesn't want a team like KC to play in the world series, could you imagine a Royals and Pirates WS??!!
Umor (Detroit)
Aplause Way to go Spikes. Stand up move.
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
Can Pryor win in Happy Valley?
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas) you mean any body with a fat pocket can when a world series - I dont see how any body can be a fan of that
lawrence (stowe vt)
Caddy mike just had the reach of the day
Guy (New York)
Repeat for The Yankees?????
jay (10:39 AM)
he can, but its up to tressel.
Manny Ramirez (Mannywood, LA)
Hey Los Yankees if you trade MAtsui can I come play DH for you? Love, Manny
Jonathan (ATL)
Here's my problem with your argument, Jay. If you're right, the top markets would be winning every year....and that's not the case.
john (panama city bch, fl)
If Spikes had done that the week before Alabama, they'da given him a helmet sticker and told him to do it again!
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
And Boston won their first championship in a lifetime against the Colorado Rockies. You have to perform on the field, regardless of your contract.
Andrew (Boston)
Africa from NY- Luxury Tax to me means nothing, because all that money goes towards is all the money they lost at the TICKET Gate, a team needs to recoup all their losses . Fans only want a winning baseball team that can compete for a championship. There is no prize for finishing third in your division year after year
Bob (pa)
can someone tell the yankees to send a little bit more money to the pirates org.they need a bailout package bad
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Would he call himself L.A. Bron James if he went to the Lakers?
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
LeBron doesn't want the money. He has plenty from endorsements. It's all about championships.
jay (10:40 AM)
yankees in playoofs every year but one over the past what, 15??? they are far and away baseballs biggest spenders!!! not even close. it doesnt assure they will win world series' every year...but it gives them a chance...
Alfredo (New York)
Lebron to the Clippers, not the Lakers
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
Billionare bron,talk 2 TIGER...
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Ohio State needs a new head coach. Bottom line.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
He's NOT going to LA
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I like to reach for the stars...now we have to buy some 1st!
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
The Red Sox won their first title in a ton of years over St. Louis, not Colorado...2004....
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Sure Manny they'd win again with you in the lineup
Umor (Detroit)
Make the Sallary cap what the yankees spend lest 10 percent.
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Shockingly or not, the Yankees hadn't made the ALCS since 2004 until this year...so money isn't everything.
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
USC may not get fan love, but they get excessive ESPN love and coverage...in 2005/2006, before the Rose Bowl game was played, Mark May and Kirk Herbstreit both proclaimed the 2005 Trojans the SECOND BEST CFB TEAM EVER...one behind 1995 Nebraska, the other behind 2001 Miami-FL...they proceeded to lose the Rose Bowl. The hype machine surrounding USC is just as big if not bigger than the one that surrounds the Yankees.
Howie (Cleveland)
so does girardi wear no. 28 next year?
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
The owner of the cav's now will be the owner of 4 casino's in ohio money will not be an object
tim (Virginia )
lebron should stay home. i think he can make money whereever he goes..
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
When they say its not about the money, ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!! When they say they want to be a billionare, ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!
Andrew (Boston)
Jay- being a Toronto Blue Jay fan . Knowing your team will finish third or fourth every year is very disheartening for Toronto fans
Roller (Kentucky)
Lebron can make the biggest stage come to him, he doesn't need to go anywhere else unless that is just what he wants to do, isn't there a salary cap in the NBA? So the Cavs can pay him whatever anyone else does.
Howie (Cleveland)
money may guarantee contention. it does not guarantee a title.
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
No doubt the Yankees has the most championships, I'm not a Yankee Hater, and i think baseball has the most logical rules and standards of all professional sports but let's be honest, We all love the antics of the "Boss" and the tabloids in the NY but they have not dominated the sport in years they always spend the most money but compare the numbers they are no more successful on the field than the Sox,Angels, Braves
joey (tx)
So Jay you dont think money helps Ohio Sate stay good?
Reischea (10:43 AM)
Cuz Yankees get absolutely no media love. Look, ESPN covers the top teams in the country the same way... Report on them constantly.. Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Lakers, Celtics, USC, Florida, Oklahoma (before they fell off the map). If you're the best, you get the love so lets not act like Yankees get no respect.
***Lew*** (Chicago)
Have not checked in with the FT family in awhile. Had to stop in and say What's up to all!!!!! Being a CUB man it must be nice to be a stankee fan!!! They have ALWAYS went for it,not just when the team is up for sale. But it is probably Dusty or Bartman's fault......
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jay - Seriously, talk about sour grapes right now.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Hey, What is Manny doing NOW- "just-being-Manny-wise"?
Alfredo (New York)
I'm pretty sure I have the number for the Whambulance if Jay or anyone else would like to continue crying about the Yankees
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Pirates, Reds, Nats/Expos, Rangers, Royals, Orioles.......only teams that hasn't been in the playoffs in the 2000's............pretty much all of them prime examples on how franchises should NOT be run, all the way from drafting to minor league management to signing major league free agents.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I've said this before but if a team makes itself relevant, it will get the coverage. Why can't people understand this?
Sporttown (indianapolis)
get him herm!!!
Scott (CB, FL)
Jay - they spent more the last 3 seasons! epic meltdown that's a good name for your Yankees
Ryan (Bogalusa)
I love tressel, he's a nice guy, but thats not exactly the person i want leading me to battle. young men need passion, desire, fire, is tressel any of that
Guy (New York)
Roy Williams is a BUM!!!
jay (10:45 AM)
450 million in off season spending a record, by more than double!!! face the facts yanks. you buy your success.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
tell roy quit cryin'!!
mike (Atlanta)
dana 30 is the new 20.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Get off the gas Roy, I love but you're number 2.
lawrence (stowe vt)
I wonder if skip still thinks the redsox have the yankees right where they want them...
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
I never said that Reischea, the point is and was, that USC has the same kind of hype that the Yankees do, thus making them as hateable as the Yankees. USC gets coverage that no other cfb team out there gets...I've seen it with my own two eyes.
Demetric (Orlando)
Jay, what about teams like Cleveland; who had the players and let them go because they cheap. (Manning, Lee, CC)
Roller (Kentucky)
The Vest is a great recruiter but not a good play caller.
Manny Ramirez (Mannywood, LA)
I'm getting ready for that call from Brian Cashman
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Roy Williams is so over rated its a shame, he even over rates himself - and skip likes this guy over TO?
tim (Virginia )
that 1995 nebraska team is the best college football team ever to hit the field no usc team can compete wit them
curt (new orleans)
Tell Roy to shut up and get work harder
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, am I mistaken or is Skip's head about to explode over his buddy Roy Williams?
Kent (Germantown)
TO Reduex
Kevin (NY)
Haha Jay, what an about face. What happened to 'you still have to play the games'?
James (Denver)
Why havent you guys realized its not all about wich team has the richest owner but rather the most comitted organization . Money doesnt always buy you championships and a salary cap doesnt always make a equal playing field . Look at the NFL teams like the Browns cant get out of the cellar and even teams that spend on freeagency like the Redskins dont automatically win Super Bowls . I hate the Yankees but Steinbrenner isnt the richest owner in baseball not even close but he is the most comitted .
BK (Cincinnati)
We're 5th in the nation the least ESPN can do is get our QB's name right.
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, I will rather say we buy the potential for success not success itselft....as you see, the Yanks did fall flat on their face last year.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
i agree herm.
Adam (Louisville, KY)
Herm Edwards is doing a great job battling skip, great insight.
terence harris (forest city , nc)
roy williams should SHUT UP_ the quarterback isnt supposed to throw you the ball if you are not going to CATCH THE BALL
K Runk (University Park, Pa)
Dana...its your Birthday? WoW!! Happy Birthday to you, its also my Wifes today!!! say happy b-day Michelle!!!!!!!
Andrew (Boston)
Roy Williams is correct . Roy and Tony Romo aren't on the same page. Some of the balls that are thrown to him seem to either go over his head or passes are behind him. So he is entitled to be frustrated
Bob (pa)
umor, you are easily humbled.applause a guy for suspending himself for an extra half.IF he wants to impress me,tell him to talk to young kids,on the meaning of sportsmanship.that is after he learns it.
Kent (Germantown)
Skip is ready to burst
Umor (Detroit)
Preach Herm. You got skip shutting up
willie (topeka basement)
t.o cld back his smack talk up. what has roy done
joey (new york)
today is my birthday too.....im a huge yankee fan....thank you yankees...dana gimme a shout out on first take
Jimmy (Nashville,Tn.)
Titles are not won in the accounting department...they are won on the field by the players
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
these are long term contracts. The other reason their payroll is so high is the Yanks are willing to reward their current stars (Jeter, Mo, Posada). They resign A-Rod. And he opted out, he could have gone somewhere else.
jay (10:48 AM)
manning???? huh???as for lee and cc, its the reality of small-mid markets. they cant throw ny type money at guys, so they trade them before they lose them with nothing in return. its just the reality of it. imagine if the yankees had to trade guys because they were approaching free agency and they knew they couldn't pay them what kc or pitts would offer...now thats a laughable thought. how would yankee fan like that???when and if a sla cap finally comes, we'll see what the yankees excellence is all about
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
The Yankees buy some of their success, sure. Why not flex your financial muscle when you can? Every team in that position would do the same.....
mendy (okla.)
Roy opening his mouth=romo under more pressure.
terence harris (forest city , nc)
tell roy to catch the ball stay healthy and run the right routes
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Roy never had any moment skip, what did he do, what did they win, you always looking at the numbers and not THE GAME!!!!!!
Alfredo (New York)
Thank you James
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jay is just a Yankee Hater
john (panama city bch, fl)
USC with TWO losses is STILL number 12- C'mon man, let a school with a RECORD have a BCS Bowl bid!
Reischea (10:49 AM)
No a salary cap doesn't guarantee anything EXCEPT, other teams get a fair shot at some of the more talented players on the market. Few teams can afford to do what is the norm for the Yankees. Now, the second part of what you said matters more than anything even with a cap, be smart with the money you are spending, know the talent you are bringing in.
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Its nice to hear Herm talk about the NFL as opposed to him saying Mariano Rivera for WS MVP.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Roy Williams just cant get out of his cuts and brakes he's just a vertical lob it up type receiver he's not a route runner
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
Roy Williams is not a No1 receiver in no teams offense. He never lived up to the billing the kid don't produce and he's not clutch
MJ (Boston)
Dana - you guys missed the whole Roy Williams interview....you guys need to hear the whole interview. There's more to it...Roy didnt' take a shot at anyone....
scott (niagara falls)
here we go skip just had to bring up T.O. didnt he. i think he has a man crush on him
jay (10:49 AM)
why not? its not a spending contest. just look at the nfl, the most popular league and sport now in america, by far! why??? salary cap creates a more even playing field.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
i like the herm and rob vs skip!!!
lawrence (stowe vt)
Gotta be sour grapes for clevland fans knowing they had 2 world series game 1 pitchers starting for seperate teams..
curt (new orleans)
Jay give the Indians some money to pick up free agents
joey (tx)
We all said the same thing Roy said. The balls are just going everywhere when they throw to them but anywheres near him. Dont know whats going on.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Yes Ohio State. Please fire 'The Vest.' It will make Penn State's chances at beating them so much better. You know some of you folks don't appreciate what you have. Tressel has made your team relevant again.
Scott (CB, FL)
The Yanks spending would get more press if they didn't drop $90 million to take on $80 million, they finally got it right with their $200 million payroll. That doesn't make them good or great it's more of a finally got your money's worth championship
Kent (Germantown)
Skip....Come ON MAN
lawrence (stowe vt)
looks like skip has found his scape goat for the cowboys failing this year
Manny Ramirez (Mannywood, LA)
Lot of jealousy going on in Dallas, Romo's the man again now Roy Williams wants some credit for not doing anything. He's a hater and should be traded.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Skip is getting real annoying with the constant team obliterater comments - come on Skip that's played out
mike m (canton,oh)
im a yankees fan and i agree i think a salary cap in the mlb would be great,it gets old to see the same teams in the playoffs year after year
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
And the cap doesn't solve bad management. Browns stink! Cincy can't sustain year to year success. Before Kraft bought the Pats, they were awful! In basketball, the cap has so many loopholes, it's comedy.
joey (new york)
jay the nfl is so lopsided i dont know what ur talking about
tim (Virginia )
rob is corny i need that seat
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Herms knows
Demetric (Orlando)
Jay, its the same thing with the NFL, big market teams have a grip on the leauge...look at the past 10 champions (yes even new england is big market now)
Sporttown (indianapolis)
lol rob...good joke.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Larry should have learned from Mike Vick and the PETA people - he should be glad that GLAD hasnt shown up to his game or door step
Jonathan (ATL)
Africa is dead-on point. A salary cap will not solve bad management and for many teams, actually most teams, its about BAD management. The salary cap is partially being use as a mask for that.
tim (Virginia)
Rob is a fan hater
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Players make mistakes, but sometimes you need to keep your mouth closed.
K Runk (University Park, Pa)
Joey...the league is lopsided every year!
mike (Atlanta)
I mean really we should all resent T.O. but with skip bringing him up every day when he is not the topic and bashing him out of the blue it makes us feel bad for T.O. and makes us sick of skip.
Scott (CB, FL)
the cap makes it even - if you stink it's YOUR fault
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
go Herm...Skip is on his heels!
mendy (okla.)
lawrence i agree because it won't be romo.
jay (10:53 AM)
ha! if i ha that kind of money id buy the team. in all seriousness, and i mean this with everything in my baseball loving soul, i AM NOT a yankee hater. i have tremendous respect and admiration for them collectively and individually. i sincerely enjoy and appreciate watching them play. i live 25 mins from yankees stadium and i go to many games there. but in the interest and health of the sport long term the game must address the financial inequity.the game is losing fans in the MILLIONS in middle america. kc, cin, pitts, milwaukee, etc... they are tired of seeing their homegrown guys cherry picked by the yankees, red sox, dodgers, angels...etc...
Sporttown (indianapolis)
herm knows larry very well.!!
Kent (Germantown)
A-Fraud. PED used, now we want talk about how he didn;t meltdown in the post season.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
tim (Virginia ) HA HA HA Rob and Skip are corn balls - me and you should take both those seats!!!
Andrew (Boston)
jay- I agree a salary cap is needed without the Blue Jays in that division know their fate either finish third or fourth in that division
joey (tx)
I dont think he should be traded. He is in the game during running platys cause he has been blocking downfield really good. Mostexpensive blocker ever but we have no other reciever who can do that. We aree a running team.
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
so when there's a cap, the Pirates and Royals can 'evenly' stink?
MJ (Boston)
Roy was answering a question on why him and Romo aren't on the same page...Roys not causing any riff with the team. He was happy about winning, he just wants to contribute more....lumping TO and Roy Williams in the same sentence is nuts...Watch the whole Roy Williams interview....
mike (Atlanta)
jay i'm too tired to read all of that but....i agree.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
That's messed up Larry worked hard for that losing team he should be given the opportunity to break the record.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Twitter can get you in Twouble
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
MLB: 8 WS champions in the 2000's. NFL: 6 Super Bowl winners in the 2000's.
Sporttown (indianapolis)
rob cracks me up!!ha
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Rob, stop with that zodiac joke.
Reischea (10:54 AM)
They might have a better shot of keeping the talent they have and adding something to it instead of being the Yankees, Red Sox minor league squads.
dre (memphis)
The truth is that Romo is not throwing good balls to Roy Williams, and hes the one that strung Roy out in Denver that got his ribs cracked
Larry (Houston )
Happy b-da dana...
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
yeah Capricorn's rob,HAPPY B-DAY DJ...30 ha...lol
MJ (Boston)
How could anyone cheer for A-Roid????
SD (NY)
I love the Cowboys but they over paid and over traded for Roy Williams!!! They'll never get out of him what they paid, he's lazy, makes excuses and yes Skip he did take a shot at Austin and does seem jealous. Shut your mouth Roy and prove it on the field!!!!
Sporttown (indianapolis)
good point skip.
Kevin (NY)
Just send each large market a team from a small market.
Larry (Houston )
Morning 1st take chatters...
mike m (canton,oh)
the only mlb team that seems to make the playoffs pretty often thats not a big market team is the twins
MJ (Boston)
Dre - AGREE 100%
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Agree Jay...what do you think would happen when or if the Yankees get Joe Mauer from Minnesota
Umor (Detroit)
World B Free. Man the 76ers original fun bunch. Those boys were sharp on an off the court.
dana (10:55 AM)
sporttown, i'll let him know b/c i told him there were crickets when he dropped that one.
Brian (Sandusky, Ohio)
Someone Need to Tell Robn Parker that he needs to stop being Herm Edwards "Ed McMahon! "You Are Correct, Sir"
Roller (Kentucky)
I agree with everything Jay said, how much talent does it take to be decent GM with NY or Bost. when you have unlimited resources, unlike guys in small markets that have to strategize about who to draft and who to keep and who to sign!?
lawrence (stowe vt)
Skip is like the uncle that knows everything without doing anything. Always right and when he isnt it is someone else's fault that he was wrong...
Demetric (Orlando)
Dana, stoping dodging the "I told you so" ball thats coming to you!
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
SD, you should watch a game or two, RW isn't lazy at all, very good blocker and runs out all the plays!
curt (new orleans)
Happy B-Day to DJ!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Money has never bought an NFL championship. Just ask Dan Snyder. In the NFL it's all about personell decisions because 4th 5th and 6th rounders make up the best of the best.
dana (10:56 AM)
demetric you can say it, i already congratulated you all. I'm not skip, i admit when im wrong. i picked the phils, i was wrong. i'm ok with that.
scott (niagara falls)
skip is overpaid
Eric (Dallas)
Skip maybe its your boy pre madonna Romeo maybe it isnt the recievers...... If he is a great Qb and wants to be in this league he cant let comments like that ruin hus psychie like you said this comment would.... thats ridiculous
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
How could anyone cheer for Ortiz?
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
If the MLB ever tried to institute a salary cap, the Yankees would probably take them to court.
Brian (Sandusky, Ohio)
Dana,Larry Johnson is Just "Playing To Win The Game. Hello, he's just playing to win the game."
***Lew*** (Chicago)
Who cares how much a team spends??? It breaks ppl heart to have an offical blow a call,so instant replay was installed in some form in every sport for the whiners. Then all this complaining because a team is committed to win every yr with the best players they can aquire? Please.....
Demetric (Orlando)
Dana, not about the Yanks, but that the Lions loss to the Rams
dana (10:58 AM)
never should have happened. unforgivable. st louis still isn't the better team. lions need calvin johnson back
Umor (Detroit)
World B Free the reason I bought some platforms as a kid.
willie (topeka basement)
we talk about arods legacy yet we r still trying to go after barry. when he broke the record did we not say put an asterisk? why arent we putting an asterisk beside all known steroid users names?
dana (10:58 AM)
willie we're getting to that in 3rd down
George (Indian Land, SC)
Happy Birthday Dana! How do you feel about the start of the NBA season?
mendy (okla.)
hey the rams need at least 1 win this year.
dana (10:59 AM)
george haven't watched a lot, been so focused on baseball and nfl. caught a few though.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jay: In many cases corporate owners are hurting MLB. They are looking more at earnings than winning. Look what has happened in Atlanta since Ted Turner gave up the reins.
Brian (Sandusky, Ohio)
Man Jay, your Browns at a wreck! The fans are protesting the Monday night game!
Matt (Stillwater, OK)
Rob is missing the point. The fans don't want a player like LJ who is a bad person and has only caused problems on and off the field to be in the record books. It's not petty. They don't want their books to show a guy who has a history of beating women at the top. It would just add insult to the injury of their current franchise
MJ (Boston)
A-Roid, Ortiz, Giambi, Sosa, Palmeiro,....what would be a season average for these guys if they never used Roids....
Sporttown (indianapolis)
yes your right dana..u need calvin back and a 100 % mathew.
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
The league needs rules in place to make sure teams like Florida don't start their fire sale after every playoff appearance.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Skip do you still think the Cowgirls will beat the Saints?
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
R.Clark, shouldn't play...Not worth it...
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Will calvin johnson ever get completely healthy dana?
Umor (Detroit)
Larry Johnson skills are gone. Can't break a tackle against bad tackling. It's overwith for him
Vernon Williams (SC)
Romo is an average to just above average qb
willie (topeka basement)
ur on it today dana lol
K Runk (University Park, Pa)
million dollar question Willie
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Because Willie Arod is liked by the public and Barry Bonds was always his own guy. Arod couldn't hold Bonds' bat in his heyday.
curt (new orleans)
Man is there some bad karma in Michigan. All their teams are sucking.
lawrence (stowe vt)
Ryan clarks story reminds me of monty pythons when the knight gets all of his arms and legs cut off and still wants to fight, tis but a scratch...
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Skip is to First take as T.O. is to the NFL!!
Brian (Sandusky, Ohio)
Dana, can you get Herm Edwards to say "You Play To Win First And Ten" "Hello, You Just Dont Play It To Play It."
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
No picking on Dana on her birthday, Demetric. That's poor etiquette.
dana (11:01 AM)
matt, i think fans are more upset that he's complaining and ripping his coach then they are about any history of violence against women. not all, but a majority. combined effect sure but a lot of folks would let the other stuff slide if he wasn't always in the news for team issues
MJ (Boston)
Rob - misses the point alot
dana (11:02 AM)
i htink so ryan and i htink thats why he's not back...longrun not short term
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Coach Tomlin will probably not let him play...Urban Meyer would
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
Wow skip, you just got called out, wonder what you have to say to that?
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Even with a cap don't you think players are more likely to choose the big markets over the small ones? Endorsement deals are better for big market teams and there is a lot to be said for location. Like, "Hmm do I want to spend my summer in Kansas City or New York City?" Many more would choose the latter over the former, especially if they are married.
Kent (Germantown)
Ryan vs Skip, that would be so great
john (panama city bch, fl)
Well said, jay-I was just about to say "thoughts and prayers"- and i'm not even a big Steelers fan, but THAT's couregeous-gl Ryan.
Kevin (NY)
I agree Dana. I bet most of those fans are hypocrites who use slurs themselves. But LJ's not playing well for a long time, so they want him out.
dana (11:05 AM)
curt my birthday wish will not be of a sports variety and i can't tell you it or it won't come true!!!
George (Indian Land, SC)
Dana how do yall get to different spots in the studios so fast?
dana (11:06 AM)
walk quickly george
Kent (Germantown)
Dana just wants Michigan to get a Bowl Betrh this year
Umor (Detroit)
The nuggets are no joke. Tyrell thomas didn't miss anything last night. oh 1 shot. !
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
They teleport George!
dana (11:06 AM)
i hope tomlin makes the decision just not to play him. no one wants that pressure and no game is worth it. 1 percent chance of trouble or not
Kevin (NY)
I think it's a pretty easy choice...don't play.
Chris (DETROIT)
lions make the playoffs would be acceptable
dana (11:07 AM)
kevin i think that's easy for us to say...when that's your life and you try to live your life without letting your disease control you...not so easy.
Carlos (Atlanta)
Dana, come on, we all know that Sanchez, is Mr. Dana Jacobson..lol
dana (11:07 AM)
carlos, if he was don't you think he'd be on the show a little more!!!!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Anyone take notice how well the Rockets are playing minus Yao and McGrady?
George (Indian Land, SC)
wow in heels too very impresive
mendy (okla.)
poor chris..don't ever bet the farm on that..
curt (new orleans)
Tell Jay the Indians stay thirsty my friend
Umor (Detroit)
Chris PLayoffs.. Playoffs.
Kevin (Michigan)
Lions won't make the playoffs for at least 5 years
willie (topeka basement)
not worth it. team is one thing but if u play in the back of their minds the teammates will worry about u
dana (11:08 AM)
thanks kevin
Larry (Houston )
yeah i dont know why ryan is even considering playin...no game is worth putting your life on the line
Kent (Germantown)
Playoffs? Playoffs, ugm, um, Playoffs
lawrence (stowe vt)
How bout johnny damon winning for the sox and yanks, and he should have been considered mvp
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Dana and Jay, how do u guys keep up in the chat room and do the show at the same time?! U guys deserve the big$ contract! Show is awesome!
Kevin (Michigan)
As far as the NBA...Will Bynum should be the most improved player.
Kevin (NY)
You don't let it control you, but you don't let your pride kill you.
dana (11:09 AM)
thanks bob...we're just good multitaskers
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
ryan is a the true definition of a steeler. He like the owner, coach, and players HARD WORKER,LOT OF DESIRE AND DETERMINATION a true class Act
Andrew (Boston)
Dana - Are you surprised the NFL hasn't come down hard on Tom Cable with all this evidence of violence??? if players have to behave themselves shouldn't owners and coaches
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
If I'm Tomlin I would let Ryan make the decision.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Birthday wish story alert: In 1995 my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I said, "for the Braves to finally win the World Series." They did and when I got my S.I. the next week, the Braves were on the cover along with the date...which was my actual birthday! Very cool (at least I thought).
Alfredo (New York)
PED use before it was banned.. why does everyone constantly overlook the fact that all of these guys took things that WERE NOT banned by mlb at the time
john (panama city bch, fl)
Larry (Houston) he could be hit by a bus, tomorrow...He's a competitor.
dana (11:10 AM)
Andrew, never seen the nfl come down hard on a guy with an alleged history of domestic violence. players have been accused and gone on playing. the nfl let the trainig camp stuff play out legally but i am surprised goodell didn't give him a one game suspension for that.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
In the end it always comes down to money. Just look at all the NFL players that leave super bowl teams for the big bucks. There has to be a salary cap in baseball.
Umor (Detroit)
Kevin you see Bynum fakeout and fly to the hole last night.
Kevin (Michigan)
I know I missed all the Yankees Payroll talk...but if there was a salary cap....Yankees would still win. Everyone thought the salary cap would kill the Red Wings. Hasn't yet...better run organizations will always win
Larry (Houston )
yeah right hulio...im a steeler fan as well but theres NO CLASS about it if he dies right??? what's it worth
Larry (Houston )
yeah john, but if i saw that bus coming id stay on tha curb
Demetric (Orlando)
Way to put a stain on the World Series Victory, mentioning the past PED of A-Ruth and Andy, you Yankee haters have no bounds, whats next doing the parade you'll mention that Rivera spit on a ball
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I think it's great that we had the first Asian-born player win the World Series MVP Award. It's great for the game.
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Shane, Rockets shouldva won that game last night. I still cant believe they didn't get a shot off. The talent on that team is WAY underrated, Scola, Landry, Ariza, Brooks, and Battier are really good players.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Actually the MVP went to the right person. He has been the most consistent in the series but he wasn't the big story. And to perform like he did last night when it all mattered. Congrats to Matsui.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Pete Rose need to be in the hall of fame if these cheaters get a chance
James (Denver)
Jay you dont even follow your own stories buddy . The NFL actually doesnt have much parrody right now youve been talking about how all season there have been more and more blowouts . Your contradicting yourself and the stories youve done all season long with that statement .
Andrew (Boston)
dana - I agree . I felt he should have been given a suspension by Goodell
Kevin (Michigan)
Umor...Yeah I did...On an aside, if people haven't seen Will Bynum...they need to look at the Will Bynum dunk from his European days on youtube....it is a great dunk
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
Larry....please.....
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
A rod GOT the yanks to the series!
Alfredo (New York)
At least it's been 6 years since.. the Sox were winning while Manny and Papi were juicing
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Look I'm sick of everybody winning over PED's and the steroid era - if your a baseball fan and you crying over that you need to consider that the Roid boys (Sosa, McGuire, etc.)saved your beloved sport - without that era after the baseball strike you would be watching the world series on the Versus channel like Hockey - GET OVER IT!!!
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Thank you Rob give him his due Skip come on.
seth (sc)
Baseball is a joke with the uneven amounts the big market teams can pay players...the yankees are the most absurd example of this.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Mod's on FIRE again today, rapid-fire posts, but I miss his wit and insights.
mod (11:14 AM)
me too
john (panama city bch, fl)
That's the point- NO ONE sees the bus!
Larry (Houston )
kyle..please...
Sporttown (indianapolis)
"dont shake your head"..lol
mendy (okla.)
skip you can do it!!! just say congrates...NY
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Andrew If the Raiders weren't covering things up he might have been. There is no way Hanson has a broken jaw from incidental contact. I was born at night not last night. Like I've said before proof is in the x rays. I know for certain Hanson didn't break his own jaw.
lawrence (stowe vt)
Lets face it if the nfl disallowed everyone with a shady past it would be reduced to nfl europe or something
Kent (Germantown)
A-Frauds a CHEAT, CHEATER, CHEATER
Alfredo (New York)
Skip has been way off these past couple weeks... time for an adjustment on the meds.
Jonathan (ATL)
Skip...Yankees' fans are VERY glad you're not a fan!
Larry (Houston )
yes john...he sees the bus...
Tim (Central Florida)
Hey let's give credit where credit is due.It wasn't all A-ROD.Let's give the roids a little credit.jeez
Andrew (Boston)
Rob is wrong. Arod was WAY overdue to hit in the post season. It's about time this guy produced
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
That's unfair Skip
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
The NFL has plenty of parody, James. They have the Bucs, the Lions, the Rams, the Raiders. Now if you mean parity, you might have a point.
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
can't we stop with sallary cap talk and just baseball talk alltogether!!!
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
A Rod needed a post season like this.
mike (Atlanta)
i love herm edwards....he says so much with a look.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
yeah MOD"S on fire today baby - maybe Dana needs to have a B-Day every day
scott (niagara falls)
kent your a joke
curt (new orleans)
Diabolical Hater is hating bigtime on A-Rod
charles j (baton rouge, la)
skip you being your usual self, lol!!!
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Preach on BengalBill, If any PED admitter gets in the hall, then Charlie Hustle should be the next man in. Actually, now that MLB endorsed McQuire as a hitting coach they should allow him in NOW!!
Jorge (Ft. Lauderdale)
Ohhhh Skippy eat ur words baby... u closet redsox fan... the YANKEES Win
Demetric (Orlando)
Someone please tell Skip, he forgot to give a standing ovation like he promised, if the Yankees won
mike m (canton,oh)
enough with ped i bet at least 1 player on each of the last 10 or 15 ws champs have used peds in the past
Larry (Houston )
He's been told tha risk of playin
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Skip doesn't give anyone credit for anything...that's his schtick
Andrew (Boston)
Shane Reid from NC- I agree with everything you said. If players have to uphold the NFL shield so should coaches . It's not a one way street . IF it was a NFL Player he would have been suspended by now
Jonathan (ATL)
Skip, ARod was better than Ryan Howard! What happen to him in the WS? 13 Ks?!
lawrence (stowe vt)
PED's saved baseball, and they even pushed the chicks dig the longball
seth (sc)
Thak you dana!
Kent (Germantown)
If A-Fraud is being hailed, then Hail Barry
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
hahaha Skip needs to speak on wht it really is and not what he wants
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
but a rod PRODUCED!!!!
Kevin (NY)
These guys didn't cheat us, we don't play and even if we'd taken steroids we wouldn't have been good enough. I think players have more to make up to their teammates and colleagues
john (panama city bch, fl)
Make a SEPARATE HOF...See-EASY!!!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yea, EVERYBODY was on PEDs lets get over it people!
Kevin (NY)
AROD is not currently on steroids. hit 30 homers and 100 rbi while missing a month. Yankees lost Wang also, to counter Skip's DiceK point.
joey (tx)
How has A-Rod been forgiving? I dont get that one.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
I'm done with Skip shock value Bayless
Umor (Detroit)
Oh OK skip ARod Play up[ to stuff finally. admitted it. your coming off Stupid dude.
jay (11:17 AM)
james, you're out of your league pal. this years blowouts and high number of bad teams is a story because its out of the norm. there is no questioning the nfl has the most parody of any pro sports league. in the nfl since the cap went in we've seen small markets such as green bay (70th market smallest in pro sports, Indy (27th market) tampa bay (15th market) pittsburgh has won twice since the cap (16th market) baltimore has won (23rd market) st. louis (17th market)and others from small markets! sorry james, true story.
Jonathan (ATL)
Herm giving us the inside info!!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
a rod produced a positive roids test
Kent (Germantown)
If I had taken steriods, I would have been playing Pro Ball
scott (niagara falls)
what about when ortiz and the redsox won the ws. there were no steroids involved with that win either i guess huh
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The NFL has parody. The Cardinals were a 9-7 football team that made it to the super bowl. The Panthers and Jags both went to their respective conferences championship games 2 years in.
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Skip, if Pettitte and A-Rod got caught red-handed as you say, they would have been SUSPENDED...they were not caught red-handed, they were "caught" 3-6 years after the fact...
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
Yeah the're gettin a pass. Society has created this crap of honesty is the best policy but Barry was jerked and Arod and company was caught and he's accepted
Mike C (Green Bay)
Skip has double standards, A-Rod is a cheat but Barry is the greatest player...Come on Skip, can't have it both ways.
Tim (Central Florida)
Skip is an EXCUSE MACHINE!
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
For all intents and purposes, steroids were legal in baseball in 2004.
john (panama city bch, fl)
My 'fat l'il girlfriend" loves the long ball.
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Of corse they're getting a pass. Did you hear Pettite and steriods mentioned once since the playoffs started? And with the numbers A-Cheat put up he's once again on top of the BBall world. Hello you play to win the game, and when you do all is forgiven.
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
Honesty is the best policy, coach herm speak's it...rite-on...
Kevin (Michigan)
To counter Jay, the Rays have made World Series, also St Louis, Colorado, FLorida without a salary cap
seth (sc)
Oh right, because arod quit taking them RIGHT before joining the yanks....please dont insult us with that.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Steroids wasn't legal but HGH was.
mike (Atlanta)
yeah jay i still think there is parody in the nfl. As long as there are 3 or 4 teams fighting for a wildcard spot in the playoffs in each conference then there is still parody.
Gino (Scranton, PA)
McGuire and Bonds are outcasts because we pretty much know that they took performance enhancing drugs and they still won't admit it. They are terrible shameful liars. A-Rod and Pettitte gave us the truth
Corey (louisiana)
Plus Skip should just be ashamed of rooting for David Ortiz by his standards right?
Kent (Germantown)
SKip is proving a point. If you accept A-Rod, you have accept Barry
Kevin (NY)
Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds won't admit they did anything. Arod and Pettitte apologized and owned up to it.
Alfredo (New York)
I guarantee you wouldn't have been anywhere near College ball, let alone the majors Kent.. PED's don't make up for lack of talent.. they keep you fresher and healthier, I'm sure 5 to 10 extra feet of distance on occasion really makes that huge difference
jay (11:20 AM)
there you go. last year with 2 weeks to go 80 percent of the league was still fighting for a playoff spot.can you imagine that happening in baseball???
scott (niagara falls)
because bonds and palmeiro and those guys lied about it
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
skip is afraid to chat with us
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Thank you Herm!!! Roids have been out since the 40's - who's to say who did what??
Tim (Central Florida)
Using steroids = cheating.Should cheaters get in the HOF?
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
yankees winning the WS makes me not a fan of baseball anymore
Umor (Detroit)
Barry Bonds didn't need the 'roids. he always had that killer swing. and he was hitting dingerrs out of the park in pittsburgh.
mike m (canton,oh)
i tired on listening to skip baseless.most of his points are just off the wall and have no base
jay (11:21 AM)
and how did the rays do? colorado? and were they back year after year...of course now!
Kent (Germantown)
No Dana, People let it go when its the Yankees. If Barry said, yea I made a mistake he would be villified.
seth (sc)
Preach on Jay....yankee fans dont get it and dont care cause they won but winning at any price or cost of morality isnt ok with me.
dana (11:22 AM)
sorry kent i disagree, people let it go when theres an apology b/c we give folks second chances and we are overall a pretty forgiving society.
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Tim, if baseball allowed "cheating" through 2003...who's the onus really on?
john (panama city bch, fl)
Gino...The STATS they amassed during that time are NOT the truth!!!
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
Dang this must be hate on Skip day!
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Would we forgive Bonds, Clemens, and McQuire now that others like A-Cheat, Pettite, Arroyo, Giambi, and others admitted it?
Chris (DETROIT)
he just gives u another perspective
Kevin (Michigan)
the reason so many teams can contend in football is more spots and less games. Teams are more likely to drop out of contention in 162 games and more likely to be close with only 16
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
what about all those football players that used amphetamines back in the day???
dana (11:22 AM)
cory find me a guy who's admitted to using that hasn't been forgiven...
curt (new orleans)
Bonds has a federal case pending right so he can't admit to anything
Scott (CB,FL )
Kent - Arod admitted it, Pettite admitted it - Barry "my hat's 3 sizes bigger than 5 years ago" didn't or hasn't, that's the difference
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Steroids were legal and hundreds of players used them...If I had a choice of using them and making a hundred million from the Yankees, and not using them and playing for the Jacksonville Suns, I would use them...Almost every power player and many pitchers used, whether they were caught or admitted it or not
lawrence (stowe vt)
should do a poll on sportsnation about bonds and mcguire if they came clean would they be forgiven?
Lord (York PA)
I actually suffer from Sickle Cell Disease and I know exactly what Ryan Clark is feeling right now. My personal advise for him would be that he not go to Denver. Doctor opinions or not! This Disease is one that is not studied by enough physicians and Doctors or more reactive than proactive. You could still get very, very sick and possibly suffer an acute chest crisis where the result would be instant death! do not risk your life! You are an inspiration to people like myself who have the disease and get to watch you play safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers every sunday.
Kevin (NY)
How is it that every baseball fan has grand ideas of morality in sport, but many of those people don't translate those ideals into their own real lives.
Chris (DETROIT)
its like aderol in school
hvalenz (los angeles)
still w the steroid talk, lets talk bout real athletes nba no ,did any one see artest's shot last nigt
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Hey Jay I got a new name for Skip. Skip Sayless, how do u like that?
Chris (DETROIT)
everyone uses it to get an edge, yet there are a % of people that do not use it and ridicule it
Bob (pa)
funny how everyone forgot roger clemens.haven't seen his name brought up?he didn't come out with the truth, did he?
Chris (DETROIT)
bu unlike steroids its widely accepted
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
nope didnt see the shot, didnt want to
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
In Bonds' defense he can't come out and say I took them because he's facing federal charges. He would have to be an idiot.
seth (sc)
Im a yankee fan, and i even have to admit...this one just seems hollow to me. Just dont feel it like the old teams of the 90's...maybe because of buying a bunch of players but something is missing.
mike m (canton,oh)
kent if it was just the yankees getting a pass why didnt big papi and manny get blasted
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
If I took steroids I'd still have been a short dude who couldn't catch up to the fastball but with Popeye's arms.
Umor (Detroit)
Just'in love, That's a smooth name.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
i dont think bonds would be forgiven... i dont think too many people liked him BEFORE all the steroid talk came out
Ryan (Bogalusa)
I went to college with a woman her name was Miss Tuesday, that was her first name, on her birth certificate.
mendy (okla.)
Hands down the colts!!! love bret but manning is the man. I believe another superbowl is in the making for peyton.
scott (niagara falls)
and if clemens told the truth , things for him would be way different
lawrence (stowe vt)
I like bond stance of sticking it to the comish bud. Bonds is getting blackballed for something that mlb knew about allowed and profited from
Kevin (Michigan)
What is everyone's obsession with giving kids strange names....that should be child abuse. I'm sure some kids get picked on relentlessly
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Man I bet his "lil fat girlfriend" made him change his name.
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Thank you, Seth! He is man enough to admit it!!
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Jay: Your argument about playoff teams is a bit flawed seeing that the NFL puts 12 teams in while baseball only does eight.
willie (topeka basement)
hating people because of steroids shld not be a poularity contest
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
A bonus down! Colorado's happy....Missouri isn't....you guys are dividing the nation!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
These guys didn't admit to anything because they were caught. There were people ready to testify against them. Bonds doesn't have that.
scott (niagara falls)
then seth your not a true yankees fan if you dont feel it
mendy (okla.)
I'm gonna be like hamels...i'm glad baseball is over.
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Why is everyone afraid of Skip? Skip, don't hide. THE_REAL_FAN is ready.
Scott (CB,FL )
thank you Seth!!! it proves not everyone is a bandwagonner screaming about past glory, you sound like you actually watch the games
Mean Gene (Brooklyn, NY)
Watching the Just-in'love Smith piece and it reminded me of a young child's name that is WILD. Spelled Ta-a....pronounced Ta-Dash-a...no lie!!!!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
seth is honest, I appreciate that
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Would the reporter Randy Moss consider the Patriot Randy Moss to be a "thoroughbred"?
Alfredo (New York)
Straight Cash Homie.. oh wait, wrong Randy Moss..
mari (ok)
i can only imagine what skips greatest 2 min burst would be
Jorge (Ft. Lauderdale)
Here Here Scott
Kevin (Michigan)
Is this Randy Moss's Clark Kent?....from mild mannered horse racing reporter....to NFL stud wide reciever
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
I enjoy watching the Horse Racing triple crown, however I've never watched the Breeders Cup...must be that East Coast Bias everyone talks about lol.
jay (11:30 AM)
more teams in the nfl than mlb. if thats all you have...thats just not good enough. look, everyone knows in the hearts that the playing field is as out of whack unfair as it can be. theres no debate when you have one team paying 200 million competing with ohers with payrolls under 40 million. one team has a toothpick, the other a bazooka. look, if thats how you like your baseball, enjoy it. but you wont see many fights promoted, or watched where a heavyweight fights a welterweight. one way to save the sport from its own short-sighted greed. even the playing field..whats the matter yankees fans? you scared????
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
HOW CAN YOU NOT BE A MARCH MADNESS FAN??!!!!
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Why isn't Racheal Alexandra racing this weekend??? I don't keep up with the sport enough I guess, but thats a race I'd like to see, the 2 phillies + the foriegn horse.
seth (sc)
Why, im just being honest...i am a diehard yankee fan but this one just seems flat...like we cheated to get this or something.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
scott, you are the epidimy of yankee fans that I hate
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
PLEASE!!! You people that are poo pooing the yankees because of their pay roll you're WRONG!!! dont blame the yanks for FOLLOWING the rules!!!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Horse racing oh yawn
mike (Atlanta)
we dont franc....we just hate the rules
KemeticLaw (Las Vegas)
Dana Barry Bonds has nothing to explain to the public or the authorities. He never tested positive and no one has come foward with any concrete evidence. Pettite and Alex were caught red handed and had no other choice but to cop to the accusations. If Barry try to finally admit to steroid use he would be hit with multiple perjury charges.
Andrew (Cincinnati)
Horse Racing IS NOT A SPORT!!!!
mendy (okla.)
how fitting w/ all the roid talk today....there's horseracing on the show.
Kevin (NY)
Seth you were also 13 years younger the first time the recent Yanks won. Maybe there's a little less spark.
Andrew (Cincinnati)
Horse racing is only a sport for the horses.
Andrew (Boston)
jay- The Yankee fans are terrified of having a level playing field
john (panama city bch, fl)
If a horse shot up with HUMAN Growth Hormones- wpuld it give him an edge?
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Please people...deal with it...the Yankees win...Thaaaaaaaa Yankees win
Jorge (Ft. Lauderdale)
Seth are u kidding me... how can u call yourself a YANKEE fan... cheated in what way because our team spent the money on players
Chris (North Charleston)
Dana you should debate skip I think you would win
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
horse racing, spelling bees, LLWS, womens sports, but no MMA?
Demetric (Orlando)
March Madness is overrated....there I said it
dana (11:33 AM)
kemetric, i'm not talking about why they admitted it, i'm talking about what happens with saying i was wrong i'm sorry, like marion jones.
Kevin (Michigan)
People forget, if there is a salary cap, players will make less so they will still go to the Yankees because they are a better run organization. So A-rod would be a $14 Million per year instead of $25 Million per year yankee
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
With baseball done we can now concentrate on what everyone really wants to talk about...BRETT FAVRE!
Alfredo (New York)
If a salary cap was instituted, the Yankees would just pour more money than anyone else into scouting, developing and stealing players from latin/south america.. nothing would change
dana (11:33 AM)
chris, depends on the topic
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
but what about those teams in MLB that DO make the money and spend it on garbage or have greedy owners that just pocket the money???
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Hey folks do ya'll just hate the Yankees just cuz they win or do ya'll rival team ya'll root for.
Umor (Detroit)
A min race and you gotta wait a hour before it start. I'll pass.
seth (sc)
Doesnt mean it is right franc...admit it franc...im just saying i liked the bernie williams yanks so much better...im not going to do a blind chant like chris a....this team, i dont know...
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
some of you are forgetting that they yankees are paying a hefty luxury tax for all the spending they do!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
March Madness is the ultimate anything can happen time of the year. It makes college football look like a big joke.
Steve (NY)
The Yankees are a prime example of what will go wrong with the nfl once the salary cap is removed... The playing field is no longer level....
jay (11:35 AM)
i dont blame the yankees for exploiting the system. but they are breaking a rule by exceeding the set spending limit and they pay a heavy luxury tax for it. see thats part of baseballs dirty litle secret. they overspend, then pay the price, baseball takes advantage of the yankee greed and the league gets rich too. it is not the yankees fault they have more money than everyone else and spend it so freely. good for them. it is baseballs fault they have fostered such a ridiculously uneven playing field. any and all competitions should be waged on a fair and balanced stage. baseball is not.
James (Denver)
Jay like usual you missed my point . We were talking about the hear in now where I live . We all know you live in the past . Where you were a star baseball player and you married the prom queen but you made my point for me and to JB this is a chat room dude not a term paper there are misspelled words and inproper English and bad grammer in every posting including the ones from ESPN so get a life you spellbot loser .
Andrew (Boston)
dana- Why is it that Mark McGwire is so harshly criticized for taking the fifth, when it is his right as a US citizen? it's not like he was Palmeiro pointing his finger at congress and lying through his teeth
dana (11:37 AM)
andrew, personally i think i just wanted to hear him say something. here's what i did. i took andro, it wasn't banned, etc. people idolized him, he was the face of baseball, there was disappointment that he said nothing, his right or not.
Kevin (Michigan)
That congressional hearing was a joke, the one senator referenced the cheating scandal of the Chicago Blackhawks throwing a world series. They had no clue...plus they couldn't prnounce players names. They needed to do their homework
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
seth dont get me wrong. I loved the bernie williams yanks but 4 bought players but melky, roberstson, joba, marte, gardner, hughes... all farm players
dana (11:39 AM)
yes kevin, unprepared, out of their comfort zone which wasn't goood.
Joey (Rutland, Vt)
MOD, I am Joey's wife and he is at work unable to write but he has up to this point been chating daily with ya all. YANKEES, 27 TIME WORD CHAMPIONS!!!!! BEST FRANCHAISE IN ANY SPORT!!!!! A-Rod=TRUE Yankee and the World Series MVP!!!!! With out him there aren't even there! LETS GO YANKEES!!!!! (Please post so he knows I took the time to write it)
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Ron Artest obviously has a weird infatuation with Dennis Rodman...Artest wears 37 in LA.....Dennis Rodman wore 73 there. Artest wore #91 in Indiana when the brawl happened...Rodman wore #91 in Chicago when/where he caused all his ruckus. Artest's Rodman fetish is a bit disconcerting.
Kevin (Michigan)
I'm sorry, but George Lopez is not funny
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
why do you think baseball has the most steroid use?
Kevin (Michigan)
Remember, the Yankees spent LESS this year than last year
Champ (Bmore, MD)
Wow James. Carmelo must have rubbed some of that "aggressive/defensive" Baltimore mentality on you out there in Denver man lol
Tom (Ohio)
George Lopez is not funny.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Gotta run for today. Again Dana, have a great birthday. I'll celebrate the first anniversary of my becoming a man tomorrow. Jay, no hard feelings. Congrats to the Yankees, their fans, and the first Japanese WS MVP. Be safe and talk to you tomorrow.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
i agree kevin
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
George Lopez is hilarious on Reno 911
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
James, that seems like an unneccessary personal attack on Jay, whether you agree with his opinion or not
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Medical marjiauna, what !!!
Joey (Rutland, Vt)
Thanks so much Dana, Jay and Mod you have a wonderful day and remember for next year, GO YANKEES!!!!
jay (11:41 AM)
well james. for some reason you always seem to find a way to get personal in here. i think i speak on behalf of everyone here, you should probably find another place to play the role of bully. we have educated, spirited conversation here everyday. we enlighten, entertain, try to persuade, and compliment. what we dont do is insult. that's for people far below the intellect of the chatters in this room. this room is filled with smart, creative, funny, thoughtful and most of respectful fans. if you can't fall in line, please find a better way to spend your time. jb can fight his own battles, but before you insult someone just realize you offend the entire room when you get personal.
Mean Gene (Brooklyn, NY)
Jay I agree on the lopsided nature of baseball's lack of salary cap. It is also interesting to me how people can defend a system so lopsided, yet have problems when individuals use PEDs to gain a competitive advantage. I think that is so hypocritical.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
well said jay
mendy (okla.)
Thank you JAY.
Jonathan (ATL)
James....way out of bounds for the comments on Jay.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Jay you the man
mike (Atlanta)
wow how did james get a post? lets all go beat him up....jk (i don't condone violence)
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Hayden, I don't think baseball has the most steriod use. I believe it's all about the same it just runs in cycles. 80's was football, 90's was baseball, 00's hgh was invented and now everyone uses it, don't be nieve.
mike m (canton,oh)
jay i agree 110%,its just a chat dude needs calm down
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Im surprised it wasnt Dana giving him the what for
Demetric (Orlando)
Hey, lay off james in denver, he did what he did in the heat of the moment, if anything suspend him from the first hour.
Kevin (Michigan)
I say let them use steroids....just spilt them up into steroid and non-steroid divisions!!!
Chris (North Charleston)
Yea dude Its not that serious. Maybe you shouldn't be in here
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I agree Ryan, ja mon
Andrew (Cincinnati)
Jay- Ohio represent.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
JUST A CHAT?! More like the best board on ESPN!
mari (ok)
as a red sox fan i revel in my hate of the yankees...it makes the season so much fun...the only thing i find that rivals it is the ohio st/michigan weekend which is the best time i ever had at a football game
curt (new orleans)
Jay stay thirsty my friend
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Why is it that steroids is unforgivable in MLB, but NFL players do it, maybe get suspended for 4 games(compared to 50 in MLB) and it gets swept under the rug!
Champ (Bmore, MD)
Someone please tell Reichea that I said HELLO!!
mendy (okla.)
Jay, dana, and the gang..being my first time in the chat it has been fun. Onthefly(jace) loved joining everyday he could and now i know why.
Chris (North Charleston)
We talk sports here and don't down anyone dude
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay...while I disagree with your salary cap argument you are still "the most interesting man in the world!" Stay thirsty my friend!
john (panama city bch, fl)
Bye, James
James (Denver)
George Lopez is the worst stand up comedian ever . I saw him here in Denvrr a few years ago right after the Kobe Bryant rape story . He was on stage for 5 minutes and mentioned Kobe and the crowd bood . George thought the crowd was booing him and went off about how he was a big star and didnt need Denver because he already had a tv show . He left the stage to a chorus of boos and a near riot .
Chris (North Charleston)
Jay letem know the deal
Kevin (Michigan)
I'm a Michigan fan, but I struggle to watch Big Ten football....brutal this season
dana (11:46 AM)
bob good question
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Cory, then why are there more athletes caught using it in the MLB?
mike (Atlanta)
hahahaha demtric....he deserves to whole two hours!
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Jay - this is the second time I;ve seen you get attacked in here - what is it that you do to the haters man!!!
john (panama city bch, fl)
Demetric...first HALF hour,lol
john (panama city bch, fl)
Reis...Champ says ,"HELLO"
willie (topeka basement)
take the mean stuff somewhere else
Demetric (Orlando)
I want to clear up. that I was defending James in Denver...
RJ (Boston)
Jay, good job dealing with the unnecessary. You're a professional and your decorum is appreciated.
Chris (North Charleston)
A Jay best costume every dude
Jorge (Ft. Lauderdale)
Jay I Love u man.... And Dana, Reischea but not Skip... HEHEHE
Jonathan (ATL)
Demetric.....that a light suspension, it should be a lot more...oh, but you're from Florida where Meyer suspended Spikes for a 1/2 game. Makes sense then.
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Great post Jay, however it was really rather unnecessary. I think I speak for the other 99.9% of us here that respect and love what you, Dana, Reischea, and mod (or the various mods lol) day in and day out, and people who just senselessly hate without any kind of backing aren't really worth anyone's time.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
jay dont agree with you about baseball but way to put that guy in his place... i couldnt have said it better myself, its just sports... some people just have to chill,
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Dana, give Jay a hug
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
WELL SAID 2 JAY CRAWFORD....
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Bob...50 out of 162 games is about 30%...4 games out of 16 is 25%...the punishments are a lot more reasonable than they seem when used in context.
seth (sc)
Thats it...reading all of my fellow yankee fans with their blind following of this bought team has lead me to my final conclusion......GO RED SOX!
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
All professionals on this show...I still want to see the old video of Dana with the perm again!!!!!
Champ (Bmore, MD)
Thanks John lol
Shawn Merriman (San Diego)
Steroids? Swept under the rug? Never. Oh wait you forgot I was a juicer and haven't preformed well and have broken down since off of the stuff.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
some people need to go to ESPN conversations with all that yakity yak!!!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
giving a little crap is ok though, right skip?
mari (ok)
^5 jay
Jonathan (ATL)
Saints are fool gold for the the SB.......Lomas might be right with his pick for the SB except the Eagles won't win
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yea "go red sox" the team with the 2nd biggest payroll in baseball
Chris (North Charleston)
Dana didn't Spikes say he would sit the whole game out for FLorida
mike (Atlanta)
i'm sticking with eagles and ravens...it shall happen
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
I think we need some pads and play it out, who's got game.
Jorge (Ft. Lauderdale)
Told u he wasn't a Yankee fan... Show ur true colors
Kevin (NY)
Hahaha. Seth, there's no way you're even remotely close to being a Yankee fan.
willie (topeka basement)
big dudes in their own chairs
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Im surprised I havent been ripped up like that, thanks ESPN
Champ (Bmore, MD)
Ravens prepared for another 2nd half run
Umor (Detroit)
Lopez keeping it clean for morning TV folks. His stand up a killer.
Reischea (11:49 AM)
Spikes indeed went to Coach Meyer and said he didn't want to be a distraction so he would sit out the entire Vandy game as opposed to just the first half.
Lovie Smith (Chi-Town)
Derrick i need you to come and dominate in my tampa 2... what is taking you so long?
George (Walla Walla)
"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again" Terence Mann (Field of Dreams) This is the quote I was referencing and I find it very true and Yankees greatness is a big part of that because when they fall...It is magic
john (panama city bch, fl)
waiw,wait- you mean there's drugs under the rug...MOVE
RJ (Boston)
Seth,As told to me by a yankee fan back in the Aaron Boone era.. if that's your reason for no longer being a fan, you never were a fan.
Alfredo (New York)
Seth, we all know you were just pretending to be a Yankees fan anyway.. now it's official, and if you were a Yankees fan, it's officially over for you now that you've typed that filth
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
SB= VIKE'S VS.COLT'S....
Kevin (Michigan)
Dana with a perm!?!?!?!? I want to see that too....sorry Dana...Love Ya, but I have to see that
curt (new orleans)
Reis where does SC go from here
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Jay, while I might not disagree with some of your points, I still believe 50 mill. contracts handed out to the likes of Carlos Silva and Gary Matthews are a bigger concern than the Yankees' spending. I will leave you for today and feel pretty good about #27. See ya.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Jonathan (ATL) yeah Skip always takes the obvious shock jock position on everything!!!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Saints are fools gold? Are you kidding me #1 offense top 15 D. They have and can win almost every way imaginable. Saints are for real.
Kevin (Michigan)
I'm shocked Brooks is still in that chair...too good of a player
dana (11:50 AM)
in reference to James and JB guys, there are a million spelling mistakes and typos. Just deal.
Ryan (Bogalusa)
We in a chat room and this dude james is bringing peoples family to the table, you win Jay, say no more.
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Seth, good choice
scott (niagara falls)
thats right alfredo hes blackballed
Kevin (Michigan)
I've listened to Lopez's unclean stuff too...still not good
Ryan (Bogalusa)
Jonathan you sound like an A-town Shawty LO hater. That a sore loser. WHO DAT, GO SAINTS!!!!!!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Dana, love the hair, leave the perm back in the 90's k?
jay (11:54 AM)
ha! all good jonathon. i am not offended in the least by people who disagree with my views. heck, thats what being a sports fan is all about. i am deeply offended when anyone in here offends or insults anyone! no room for it james.
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Rob is way off point....do u have 2 be undefeated to get credit? cmon!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
I wish the fans had a say in what happens in pro sports, we pay their salaries...
Andrew (Cincinnati)
14-2? Vikings lose to the Bengals.
Bryan (TN)
Saints are good, but Colts are better right now. I also think they will run out of steam towards the play-offs. Look for the Cowboys to beat Philly on Sunday, and keep up a big winning streak to be the best complete team in the NFL.
Hook (Southern Maryland)
Never have listened to Lopez comedy. Is it really dirty like they say Bob Saget's is? I like dirty comedy.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Bengals gonna spank the Ravens sunday
Kevin (Michigan)
I would love to see a VIkings - Saints game in the playoffs
curt (new orleans)
whly are these dudes talking smack on a computer. What's up with that?
jay (11:55 AM)
thanks rj. i'll always have the backs of the smart, courteous and respectful fans, which just about everyone in here is everyday!
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
To Rob's point, Favre has made the team better, but he went in to a very good situation with AP and their defense, and Percy Harvin
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
His interception count is pretty impressive. I expected him to have at least 7 at this point.
john (panama city bch, fl)
bERT, is he averaging MORE than 10 yds per reception? Even I can throw a football 30 feet. Anything longer, and his receivers have to come BACK for the ball!!!
mike m (canton,oh)
brett favre deserves more credit, where would the vikes be with t.jackson at qb,3-5 at best
Kevin (Michigan)
Herm's new line....You DEBATE to win the DEBATE!!!
Drew Brees (New Orleans)
Dwewww Bweeees!
mike (Atlanta)
you have to look at it like this....do they beat the 49ers or the ravens without brett favre?
Hulio (Raleigh,NC)
But Jay the kc's pitt should take the strategy of the twins, rockies, and Now the Ray's. Make decisions that will give the fans somthing to appreciate and you have a chance of winning a championship versus the take of showcasing your talent and not commiting to winning or like the Cubs go get big names but don't consider chemistry Don't get mad,get smarter. the biggest acqusition the Red Sox made in the last decade was clearly Theo Epstein .
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Holla at ya'll tomorrow folks, someone bring a ball.
Jonathan (ATL)
By the way, kudos for having Herm on 1st and 10. He was great. Please bring him back to slap Skip around again.
mari (ok)
i think this is the best 2 hrs of the morning...i jjust wish it went on for a few more hrs...lol
RJ (Boston)
I haven't paid for tickets or hats or sweatshirts since 2005. I pay my cable bill and keep up. They don't need my money beyond that.
jay (11:56 AM)
youre absolutely right! great management at its finest!
mike (Atlanta)
not gonna happen bengal bill. Refs wont bail you guys out this time. here comes the pain!
Kevin (Michigan)
A Colts saints super bowl.....that would be awesome!!!
mendy (okla.)
the saints...they are good and for onthefly's(jace) memory i hope they make the SB but the colt's win
Kevin (NY)
Has anyone tried to study what it is that makes Skip like a person and hate on another? Can we get a congressional inquiry?
Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)
Did you guys lower Rob Parker's chair...he looks so little up there lol.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
lopez can be a bit dirty but EXREMELY funny!!
Hayden (Logan, Utah)
Saget was quite funny on a roast I saw
Demetric (Orlando)
Jay, I remember you slamming Pillar of Wisdom pretty hard about that Melo interview...he hasn't been back since
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Jay, when is the next costume to end the show?
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Love this state farm commercial/song.
Andrew (Boston)
Jared Allen has alot to do with Vikings success as well
Jonathan (ATL)
good one Kevin!
Bob (Grand Forks, ND)
Y Jack couldnt do what Favre is doing with this team. So he deserves credit!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Lot of season left to play fellas. Injuries will dictate who makes the SB.
Kevin (Michigan)
Gotta give a shout out to Price is RIght today...7000th show
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
WAY 2 MODERATE DANA THE RM.ENJOY YOUR B-DAY...
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Peyton Manning is the most valuable to his team beacause the Colts would fall the farthest without him
Champ (Bmore, MD)
There's no way Ravens lose to the Bungles twice.
Steve (NY)
Jay- That was very cowardly of James to do that to you though. Over a chat page and to take a shot at your family and your past.. Sorry for his immature behavior...
mendy (okla.)
First take gang have a great day! God Bless and Peace Out!!!!!
Champ (Bmore, MD)
Brett will break down again. He's looking good right now though.
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
