Ryen is walking from the TV studio right now...he will be here in a minute...get your questions in!
Ryen Russillo (4:04 PM)
As always, sorry about the delay. Let's get going...
Wayne (Birmingham, AL)
Tailgating in Tuscaloosa! Where are you doing the show from? We will bring you shrimp boil and ribs! Roll Tide!
Ryen Russillo (4:06 PM)
We'll be in the quad. Last year we were right in front of the stadium. Different location, I heard it's better.
John (Miami)
How was Halloween in Eugene? This Cat in the Hat hooked up with Flo from the Progressive ads. Gotta love Halloween.
Ryen Russillo (4:07 PM)
There's not really much that I can add to that. Except that it was great, less outfits than I expected. But, a great campus and a great night for a team that's overlooked.
Purnell (Newtown)
Dude, did the regon Dance team really put out a restraining order on you? If so you are my hero.
Ryen Russillo (4:08 PM)
At first it was a joke, but now it may actually be serious. Keep checking ESPNRadio.com for a new edition of "Russillo on The Road" which is taking our editor forever to edit....because it's really long.
Joe (Chicago)
Where do the Ducks cheerleaders rank in the country?
Ryen Russillo (4:08 PM)
Used to be #1. But now that they dissed me outside my Top Ten.
John (Austin)
Best costume you saw over the weekend?
Ryen Russillo (4:08 PM)
Inspector Gadget. Dude had a helicopter propellor on his head. He kept dropping it because he was hammered.
Nathan (State College)
I know I sound like a homer, which I admittedly am because I go to school here, but why are you so down on the PSU/OSU game this saturday? The winner of this game could determine the Big Ten Champion because Iowa has some tough games remaining. Even if Iowa wins out, if PSU wins they will most likely get an at large bid for the BCS. This is a huge game and is a big game pretty much every year.
Ryen Russillo (4:10 PM)
Let's start with this: We've had some fun at the Big Ten's expense this year, so I apologize because I sound like I'm taking ruthless shots at them. But we can all agree that the Big Ten is down and none of the teams have impressed me this year. I realize this game is still very important to the Big Ten championship, but I'd rather go down south and see a team that could potentially play in the National Championship.
Reggie (NC)
How do I get started on being a radio personality
Ryen Russillo (4:11 PM)
Take any job that will put you on the air. ANY job.
Dan (Pittsburgh)
What are the chances that Heinz Field will be the host of College Gameday when Notra Dame comes to Pitt next week?
Ryen Russillo (4:11 PM)
Actually pretty likely. You're good.
Tom (DC)
Does anyone pay for magazines anymore? What are your 5 favorite?
Ryen Russillo (4:13 PM)
I think I had to write a 7 dollar check for my Esquire mag subscription. But if there's an article I want, I understand your point, I'll probably just find it. Top 5: Cracked, Yachtsman, Modern Wedding, Cracked Summer Edition, and King
Josh (Iowa)
Ryen, A lot of people are calling the Hawks lucky, overrated...... What are your thoughts on this team that Kirk Ferentz has put together with no 5 star recruits but just damn good coaching? Will they run the table?
Ryen Russillo (4:14 PM)
I would call them lucky. I wouldn't call them overrated because they are still undefeated from a BCS conference. So when I sound like I don't love Iowa, it's because I don't think they'd beat Bama, Florida, Texas, TCU, or even Oregon. I wish sometimes people wouldn't think we're trying to insult their history when I don't have your team as the best in the country. Josh - I don't think you were doing this, but I get a lot of this stuff. No, there's a loss in there some where...
( )
Over/under 45 minute chat?
Ryen Russillo (4:14 PM)
Over! If the guy typing will allow it.
Dan (Pittsburgh)
So if College Gameday will be at Pitt next week, what are the chances Russillo on the road will be? If you're coming we'll show you a good side on the North Shore or in the South Side. Believe it or not, Pittsburgh has a great bar scene.
Ryen Russillo (4:16 PM)
Yeah I have to write it every week...so I will write an edition from Pittsburgh, but I gotta find out my hotel situation. ESPN Radio keeps jamming me and setting me up away from campus.
Vance (Dallas)
I just saw yall had an SMU and a Rice helmet sitting out during your show, Why is that? Also you should come to SMU, we might not be the greatest football team, but our tailgating is awesome and the weather is great.
Ryen Russillo (4:17 PM)
There is never a reason. We do it every Wednesday and we do an off the radar matchup. I feel bad because we'll get multiple emails throughout the show from people wondering when we're going to talk about SMU-Rice or in a previous edition Colgate-Cornell.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Cracked over Mad magazine? Is it really better? Haven't read either in quite some time.
Ryen Russillo (4:18 PM)
JB that's a joke. You're on chats all day, you should know that by now.
Dave (Fargo)
Im a big Minnesota Timberwolves fan and I am pumped about Flynn, I think hes our guy! But what do we do with Ricky Rubio?
Ryen Russillo (4:18 PM)
Wait at least 3 years.
MJ (Charlottesville)
Why don't you take a road trip to Chapel Hill to see the team that beat down both Maryland and UVA....DUKE!
Ryen Russillo (4:19 PM)
Duke is better, but it's something about going to visit a team that's first conference win was last week...UNC.
Dan (Pittsburgh)
Well if ESPN Radio actually sets you up in Pittsburgh for that game next week we will make sure you have a better time than you did in Eugene.
Ryen Russillo (4:19 PM)
That might be impossible. Read the blog (whenever it's posted)
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Touche, Ryen, but with you it's hard to tell a joke from reality sometimes.
Ryen Russillo (4:19 PM)
I know. My bad. But is it?
Matthew MacArt (Scranton Pa)
Mario Brother man! . . . . Mario Brothers1
Ryen Russillo (4:20 PM)
Thanks later!
Rich Rodriguez (Ann Arbor)
People who are down on the Big Ten need to get lives...and show up for their chats on time.
Blake (Abilene, TX)
Ryen lets look at a so called play-off. This year if you take the teams ranked 1-8 you leave out the ACC champ and USC and posibly the loser of the Iowa vs Ohio St game. If a playoff included the 6 major confrence champions plus 2 at large bids. Than who are the 2 atlarge bids amongst the loser of Florida vs Albama, TCU or Boisi St. Looks like a playoff does not fix anything. (Last year the 2 atlarge bids would have had to go to Texas, Alabma Boise St or Utah)
Ryen Russillo (4:21 PM)
Well thought out question, but if Alabama loses in that scenario, TCU is my first at large.
Blake (Abilene, TX)
In regards to a topic this week on the radio about cool jobs that guys tell girls they have. How about a truck series race car driver. You can throw out terms like Chasis, Restricter plate, and because its truck series they cant call Bulls@# on you.
Ryen Russillo (4:22 PM)
I'm always afraid about lying about that stuff in the South. I once lied at a Rodeo and almost caused a huge brawl. There's a bunch of people down there that could be any of those things. But now I'm on TV and I don't have to lie anymore.
Matt (Houston)
I admit it, I'm a gambler and your "winners" havent been great, but lets switch sports and would you mind giving me your picks on these 3 games: Dallas +4 v Hornets; Lakers -2 v Rockets; Pistons 8 v Raptors. Thanks
Ryen Russillo (4:23 PM)
That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me. Rapid fire - Dallas +4, Lakers -2, Pistons with the 8.
Hank (Tucker GA)
Whats your opinion on Paul Johnson and his "high school offense"
Ryen Russillo (4:23 PM)
That it must be really good in high school if it's this good in college.
Brett (ATL)
So the 'Cuse lost to Le Moyne - does this mean the Orange need to be worried about their annual match-up against Colgate?
Ryen Russillo (4:24 PM)
My cousin...your Dad looks like Jim Boeheim.
Dan (Pittsburgh)
This year has to be the BCS's biggest nightmare as there is a legitimate shot that six teams could go undefeated (Florida/Alabama, Texas, Iowa, Cincinnati, TCU, and Boise State). Do you think this is the year that all playoff advocates have been waiting for?
Steve (Dallas, TX)
Hey Ryen, big fan. I think this season is on track for major chaos. What kind of uprising will happen if we end the season with 6 undefeated teams, and if PSU and ND lose another game 5 or 6 teams will have claim to the final BCS spot. It could get nuts!
Ryen Russillo (4:25 PM)
Two good ones in a row. I agree with both of you guys, this NEEDS to happen. If I have sayings, one of them would be...a flawed system does not show it's flaws in the years its exposed, it is always a flawed system. I also like to say, "that's what she said".
Plaxico Burress (via mobile)
Did you see that Padilla dude? He shot himself. How stupid do you have to be to do that?
Ryen Russillo (4:26 PM)
I have a feeling he won't be going to jail for a year either down there.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I have to ask but what makes that trip to Oregon so great? I mentioned to my wife how gaga you were about it last week and we were just wondering if its worth the trip cross-country with the kids.
Ryen Russillo (4:26 PM)
No, it's not worth it to go to Oregon with the kids. Just read the blog (maybe it will be posted when by the time this is done).
Africa (Brooklyn, NY)
A college football playoff still doesn't solve logistical problems, scheduling, seeding, and the fact that the pre season rankings have so much control.
Ryen Russillo (4:28 PM)
The first poll should come out in five or six weeks...but no one is going to do that because no one wants to buy preseason magazines that don't have rankings.
Scott (New York)
As someone who has been to Autzen and witnessed the dance team mentioned often on your show, you have every right to continue mentioning them. Kinda blows that you got that whole restraining order scenario with them though. Tell Kayla I said hello
Ryen Russillo (4:28 PM)
Yeah Scott, put in a good word for me. I feel likes things went really bad. You'll read about it in the blog (when it gets posted).
Everyone Else Here (Here)
Hey, will someone please post the blog?!?!
Blake (Abilene, tX)
Ryen its not getting a lot of pub. now but what imapct do you think it will make on the Heisman race win Colt McCoy becomes the winningest College QB ever?
Ryen Russillo (4:31 PM)
What's he a win behind David Greene? It will get a lot of pub and it will help him win the Heisman. If they don't lose, he wins it.
Todd (Pennslyvania)
Yo Ryen, I'm looking at Eastern Connecticut st and Vermont, you have any opinion on them/or good stuff you have heard bout them(ie girls)
Ryen Russillo (4:32 PM)
How are you going to get into Vermont if you are looking at Econn? Ironically, I would take Vermont over any of the East Coast schools, but I have a connection to Eastern Connecticut.
Dan (Pittsburgh)
Honestly what are the computers looking at when ranking Iowa #1? Did the computers not see the almost losses to Northern Iowa and Arkansas State? It's a joke.
Ryen Russillo (4:34 PM)
Road wins are more impressive than blowout wins...according to the computer.
Ryen Russillo (4:35 PM)
webmaster dude says the blog will be up around 5ish ET...perfect for dinner time so you can read it to your family.
Chris (Iowa)
First everyone said USC would kill Iowa. Now they have two losses and everyone says a 1 loss Oregon is better than Iowa. Didn't Purdue only lose by 2 at Oregon? Maybe USC just isn't that good this year?
Ryen Russillo (4:37 PM)
That's fair, there are so many people from Iowa in this chat today. This is the worst USC team we have seen in 8 years...and I said that at the beginning of the year for those keeping track. But when I watch Iowa every week, I watch those games, and I watch Oregon play....I just like Oregon better. But you have every right to believe that just because your team won close games to inferior opponents...
(moderator) (4:37 PM)
...V Foundation winners are meeting Ryen....
John (LA)
Where will we find the blog when it's up?
(moderator) (4:39 PM)
ESPNRadio.com! If it's not on the front page, click on Scott Van Pelt Show
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
If the winners get to meet Ryen, who do the V Foundation losers get to meet?
Ryen Russillo (4:40 PM)
There are no losers when you donate a ton of money to cancer research!
Ryen Russillo (4:41 PM)
That's fair, there are so many people from Iowa in this chat today. This is the worst USC team we have seen in 8 years...and I said that at the beginning of the year for those keeping track. But when I watch Iowa every week, I watch those games, and I watch Oregon play....I just like Oregon better. But you have every right to believe that just because your team won close games to inferior opponents......but in your biggest game on the road you took care of Penn State again when most thought Penn STate would get revenge. So maybe I'm overlooking them, but your QB threw 5 picks against Indiana last week.
Ryen Russillo (4:42 PM)
Now I'm done. Thanks everyone...sorry about the slight delay there!
