Craig Haubert (3:02 PM)
Welcome recruiting fans!!! Big day for a chat - updated ESPNU 150 rankings released just hours ago!! So will take questions on that and other topics as National Signing Day (NSD)gets closer. Lets get started
daniel, ca [via mobile]
Do you think UCLA commit Tony Jefferson will sign elsewhere?
Craig Haubert (3:05 PM)
I think he may -- that interest in Oklahoma seems to be strong and I think that UCLA may have a real tough time holding onto him - it is a good sign though that he is still committed.
Cecillia (London)
Anthony Barr is down to two, will he go to my Bruins or ND
Craig Haubert (3:06 PM)
Sorry UCLA fans don't mean to pile on here - but I think that Barr ends up at ND
Alex (Florida)
When it's all said and done, who has the #1 class this year?
Craig Haubert (3:08 PM)
Great question - so many excellent prospects especially in the top 10 not committed yet so that race for #1 could be tight and have some changes as NSD comes upon us.
Craig Haubert (3:10 PM)
In the end i think that the current No. 1 team Florida holds on because i think they have a great shot at landing DE Ronald Powell - WR Chris Dunkley - and LB Jordan Hicks - they lands those 3 and it could be very tough to unseat them
Craig Haubert (3:11 PM)
Texas - Ohio State - USC - Georgia could also make a run depending on who they land down the stretch
brett (louisville) [via mobile]
Does louisville have any recruits that could make a serious impact in the next season or two? thanks
Craig Haubert (3:12 PM)
interesting question - at one point it seemed the Cardinals were elevating themselves as a recruiting power - going back to 2006 - but things have fallen off - that being said this 2010 class has some possibilities in it.
Craig Haubert (3:14 PM)
QB - Luke Woodley out of Texas is an under-the-radar passer with some upside -- I think RB Quan Weaver is a good pick up and I really like Harris Bivin as a center though I think they may try him at DT (but I think center is the better fit).
Micah (Birmingham, AL)
Is Alabama still in the mix for Jordan Hicks or does Florida have him sown up already?
Craig Haubert (3:16 PM)
I think it is a Florida, Texas, Ohio State battle so I don't see Bama landing this one -- someone also asked when he may commit? In Orlando at the UA game is a possibility - so it may not go to NSD.
Micah (Birmingham, AL)
Who out of Alabama's commitment list do you think will have a chance to make the biggest impact right away?
Craig Haubert (3:20 PM)
tough question - very good class - but don't see many guys who may make an impact right away from day one -- DeMarcus Milliner is a great athlete - if they play him at CB though i think he could help but needs more development at the position -- I might go with DE/LB Alfy Hill- he has the size and speed - so as long as he can mentally handle the defense he has the tools to help and make an impact quickly at that 'Jack' spot
Micah (Birmingham, AL)
Does Auburn have any chance at all of landing the 'big three'? Lattimore, Seastrunk, and Dyer?
Craig Haubert (3:22 PM)
Looks like the Tigers will land Dyer on Friday - he is scheduled to announce at his school on Friday and all signs point to him naming Auburn - though it looks like it will be a soft verbal and he will still look around -- Dyer is also playing on ESPNU Friday night at 8pm EST - check him out!!
John (Pa)
If penn state lands lattimore and shariff floyd could they land at #1? What are the chances they land both?
Craig Haubert (3:24 PM)
I do think that would give them the boost to break the top 5, but not get to #1 - i think Floyd is the more realistic possibility.
Jordan (Pasadena Tx)
Where is Jackson Jeffcoat on his status and when do you see him making his decision?
Craig Haubert (3:26 PM)
No real news on the No. 1 player - same schools in the mix - though in the end it may come down to Texas - USC -- I think it could go to NSD as far as a decision, but the earliest by the new year I feel.
Chris (MPLS)
Any chance Seantrel Henderson stays in Minnesota?
Craig Haubert (3:28 PM)
Yes - how realistic is that chance? - tough to say - but I think the Golden Gophers do have a shot and I said this summer don't be all that surprised if he lands at Minnesota. It will be tough for them to get him though.
Jon (High Point, NC)
With the announcement of Mickey Andrews retirement how will that affect them holding on to the defensive talent that have committed and will it help them get some recruits to look at FSU even though they have been down right awful on that side of the ball this year.
Craig Haubert (3:33 PM)
I think change can be good - as it is something to build off - Andrews has been a great DC for years and FSU fans should be grateful for all he has done for that team - that being said it can help to offer some change to recruits -- as far as immediate recruiting this is certainly another ripple in the water for FSU - i think they will do fine holding onto what they have - many of those DL recruits come on board for Odell Haggins - so i don't think this move will have a huge negative impact on Seminole recruiting.
Doran Toney (Talladega, AL)
Has Kennen Allen set a date to commit. I heard that he is basically Alabama's to lose.
Craig Haubert (3:36 PM)
Bama does seem to be in pole position for him - and I can't imagine an announcement is too far off - but i have not heard of a date yet - his buddy Chris McCain announced on ESPNU with us and we hope to have Keenan also - will post as soon as we hear something.
Patrick (NYC)
Any players rising fast that we should keep our eyes on?
Craig Haubert (3:38 PM)
Yes - DE Adrian Hubbard out of Norcross, GA - a monster DE who did not play football last year - a lot of ability and upside - he just jumped into the ESPNU 150 at #78 - keep an eye on this kid!
Frank (Nashville)
With the way Tennessee's defense has performed this year under Monte Kiffin and his NFL pedigree, will the Vols start bringing in some of the top defensive talent every year?
Craig Haubert (3:42 PM)
The foundation is there for Tennessee to be a major player on the recruiting landscape -- that is a staff of good recruiters and that is a program you can recruit to -- they are off to a very good start with their first full class (currently No. 5) and if they can win and win consistently they could be a real recruiting force.
Frank (Nashville)
Lane Kiffin has taken Jonathan Crompton from a disaster to a very serviceable SEC quarterback. Will this and the fact Matt Barkley will be starting for atleast two more years sway Jesse Scroggins from USC to the Vols?
Craig Haubert (3:45 PM)
No - I think Scroggins is set at USC and i think Tennessee did well landing Tyler Bray at QB.
Andrew (columbus)
with ND's defense lacking playmakers, who may they sign or who have they received a verbal from that may fill some needs?
Craig Haubert (3:49 PM)
I like what they are doing on the D-Line - we feel Chris Martin will be a DE in college - We really like Blake Lueders and with some work at DE could be a really good player at that spot - Prince Shembo is a good hybrid OLB/DE who could be a good pass rusher
Barge (Large, PA)
What do think of Pitt QB recruit Myers out of Cleveland? Thanks
Craig Haubert (3:52 PM)
Lefty with upside - we feel he needs development - but down the line with a little work could be a good QB for them -- you can read his eval and watch some film on his player card on ESPN.com
BT (Oshkosh,WI)
Who do you see as the player with the most upside out of PennState's current class?
Craig Haubert (3:53 PM)
I will say either Dominique Easley as he grows into a DT or maybe CJ Olaniyan at DE
John (Detroit)
Tell me Michigan has some defensive help coming in the recruiting front.
Craig Haubert (3:56 PM)
Sorry John can't say that as of right now - some solid defensive prospects like Marvin Robinson and DE Jordan Paskorz - but nothing to get overly excited about at this time
ben (PITTSBURGH)
who do you think has the best recruiting class in the big east?
Craig Haubert (3:58 PM)
As of right now - would give the slight edge to WVU over Pitt
Cameron (Ocean Springs MS)
Is Louis Nix a strong verbal, or does ND have a chance at him?
Craig Haubert (4:00 PM)
I would not say he is a strong verbal with the Canes and ND does have a shot - a situation to keep an eye on for fans of both teams
Craig Haubert (4:02 PM)
