What about those Steelers???? WOW!
Tim (Cincinnati)
Hey Skip, I know you're paid to be loud, abnoxious, and controversial (that's why we like you), but I'm really wondering if you're still taking Buckhalter/Moreno over Cedric Benson? I don't care how good the Steeler D is, 27 total rushing yards is pathetic. "Good" running teams/backs shouldn't have a game like that.
C-Rock (Jersey)
Everybody out in TV land was sleeping on the Suns..
Reischea (10:01 AM)
Morning Nation! Happy Tuesday. I send out best wishes and prayers in Kareem Abdul-Jabbars fight against Leukemia.... nice to hear that the prognosis is encouraging.
mod (10:05 AM)
curious: are the Steelers the best team in teh NFL?
Brian (SoCal)
good Morning everyone. cool job by mike and Mike on the USS New York.
Andrew (Boston)
Skip has those Dallas Cowboy pompoms going . Gotta love that
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
good morn w/b DJ...
Dewayne (San Diego, Ca.)
The Suns will be the same as always. When it comes to playoffs you need defense. Nothing has changed with them.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Gotta love Kareem..."Roger Roger. you've got clearance Clarence"...all the best to him
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
good morning world!! and welcome back dana..we missed u.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
I was never sold as Kyle Orton as being a starter for the Denver Broncos. We would have a better chance with Micheal Vik
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Palamalu is like a centerfielder that will race you to home plate to tag you out, he's that fast. He was the difference in the game last night.
mike randle (chicago il)
dont really blame kyle orton for that game it was a battle between defense and the steelers D won it he never had a chance to get comforatable in the pocket
mike (Atlanta)
everytime the steelers win and ravens lose i feel sick.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
got to say nice job steelers exposing the denver donkeys see yall sunday
Umor (Detroit)
Welcome back Holidayna
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Good Morning all. Great game last night!
Andrew (Boston)
mod- nope, New Orleans is better they have defense and great offense
mike (Atlanta)
No Mod that would be the colts or the saints.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
bengals beat the steelers this year mod
lawrence (stowe vt)
Steelers couldnt carry the vikes jock straps..
scott (niagara falls)
big ben is a beast
Dewayne (San Diego, Ca.)
Morning guys and gals. Been absent for a week. Glad to be back. No MOd the Saints and the Colts are undefeated. C'mon son! But the Steelers are right there.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Larry Johnson to the Raiders!
mike (Atlanta)
the best spot for LJ Believe it or not is denver. They need a big back to share carries w/ moreno. he can't handle the load yet.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Of course Mod. I hate to say it but they are defending champs. The Saints don't have the playoff experience to be the best and the Colts are hurting something awful.
mike randle (chicago il)
a ocho cinco if you gonna bride a ref try the nhl not the nfl those guys get payed like highschool rate
Reischea (10:08 AM)
Oh, before I forget. "Movie Quote Friday's" or "Distraction Subject Friday's" will no longer be a Friday thing. Per a request and further discussion with others such as Jay, we will bring it into play on a slow day... whatever that day may be, but try to keep it away from Friday as some have asked.
dana (10:08 AM)
morning folks
lawrence (stowe vt)
Kyle orton is who chicago bears fans thought he was,
Africa (Brooklyn)
Yes, no more off-sports talk!!
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Morning Dana, Reischea.
Roller (Kentucky)
Who's up next for a beat down by the Steelers, the Bungals??!!
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
Kordell.
Brian (SoCal)
scoreboard lawrence. Steelers already beat Vikes.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
who dey dana
Joey (Rutland Vt)
PATRIOTS r clicking and will beat COLTS and hammer STEELERS!!!
Giants Fan (New York)
Is the nightmare over?!! AAAAAHHH!!!
mike (Atlanta)
bengal bill if we say Denver got exposed then we have to say the pats and cowboys will be exposed later cuz they beat them
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
bengalbill..bengals over the steelers this week.
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
The Colts haven't been playing their best as of late. If they don't pick it up the Patriots have a HUGE chance to erase that undefeated record of the Colts.
Dewayne (San Diego, Ca.)
Lawrence they just beat the Vikes
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The Steelers beat the Vikes already.
Brian (SoCal)
Steelers / bengals miht be better than pats / Colts. Who would have thunk it?
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
He had 1 bad game and how many bad games has Cutler had already?
Reischea (10:09 AM)
All I know is I didn't realize he hadn't thrown an interception (to a defense) all season. Made up for it with three last night.
Joey (Rutland Vt)
or how bout reischea we just talkk SPORTS!!
scott (niagara falls)
morning dana
The Mayor (HockeyTown USA)
Good Morning Ladies and Gents, any chance we could get a little talk about the HHOF inductions last night? Stevie Y is the best, congrats #19 your the best!!!!!
Andrew (Boston)
Good Morning Dana
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Morning Dana. Nice to have you back.
Roller (Kentucky)
What up Dana??
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
without the immaculate deflection the donkeys are 0 and 3 against the afc north
Chris (Kentucky)
Good Morning. What about LJ going to the other team in Pennsylvania? The Eagles already got Vick, who isn't doing anything. Westbrook is hurt, so they need another back.
dana (10:10 AM)
chris, we'll hear more on some LJ possibilities in hour number 2.
dana (10:11 AM)
oh mayor, i'm sure many folks had no idea...
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
After Orton got drilled for his second sack, the fear factor took over and he never got his confidence back.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Can Larry Johnson produce in the west coast?
scott (niagara falls)
patriots will choke
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
skip time.
terez (east saint louis)
I'm sure skip will that Denver is doing what Denver does best and that's choke in the second half of the season here come the chargers
mike (Atlanta)
seriously im going to be sick can we stop talking about the steelers. ughhhh
Brian (SoCal)
LJ is done. he can't help a good team anymore.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
I would be surprised if the Denver Broncos finish out 8-8 although they play Washington next week and it seems everyone is beating the Redskins.
willie (topeka basement)
morning all
dana (10:12 AM)
africa, i think with an attitude adjustment larry johnson can produce. limited role
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
sunday ptts the #1 rushing defese against the #2 rushing defese ought to be a great battle but the bengals will win
Joey (Rutland Vt)
after the Moreno 27 yrd disaster bring him to Denver!!
The Mayor (HockeyTown USA)
All sports should have a person like Steve Yzerman representing them, what a class act...on and off the ice
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Flip Bayless whats good
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Morning Mod, Reis, dana, let's get it on- Skip!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Can't say any that plays for the Chiefs is done. Gonzalez left and he looks 10 years younger.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Scott- AGREED!
dana (10:12 AM)
shane, i've said this a lot. play on a losing team it gets to you, no mattter who you are.
Africa (Brooklyn)
LJ is physically done? I don't kno man....head cases on crummy teams always perform bad. A change of scenary may help Johnson
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
dana: attitude adjustment and a good workout program...then maybe some production
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Dana, I would like to see LJ in Tampa Bay
dana (10:13 AM)
agreed africa
willie (topeka basement)
remember dillon?
Andrew (Boston)
Dana - Where do you see Larry Johnson going? Wouldn't he be a perfect fit in Arizona , he would be a perfect compliment to Boldin and Fitzgerald. It would solve the fumble problems they have with Wells and Hightower
Brian (SoCal)
MOD big ups the chat is flying today. I can hardly keep up.
Roller (Kentucky)
The Eagles are getting exactly what they want from Vick: he's getting in football shape and some desperate team will give up all their picks for him and the Eagles laugh last!!
mike (Atlanta)
skip you are what you're record is.
mike randle (chicago il)
here come skip with those cowboys that running game looked good and williams actaully suited up for that game
Chris (Kentucky)
Nobody thought Cedric Benson could help a good team either...that's y the bears dumped him but look at him now. LJ is selfish, but if he is happy I think he can still help a good team in need of a back.
scott (niagara falls)
come on the chiefs are a joke!!! how good could he have done if he was on a better team this year
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
I'm still impressed with the Broncos defense. They kept them close until Mendenhall broke it open with that 20yd scamper.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Morning Dana
Umor (Detroit)
Morning Crew, Listening to some Geto Boys this morning. Hines ward a dirty player. Look at the defense he has to pratice against. You come away knowing some move to take a hit and how to dish it out too.
dana (10:14 AM)
andrew - haven't thought much about it but they're loving beanie there i think. LJ would need to be in a winning situation. He knows anohter chance is just that and he'd have to take advantage. The winning part I mean for mental sake
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
thank u ryan!1
mike randle (chicago il)
rashad does remind me of a little person i like to call the bus jermoe bettis
mari (ok)
pats will choke against who? colts or saints...no way..both have weaknesses and the pats will expose that
dana (10:14 AM)
dave offense the issue right now
dana (10:14 AM)
that being said, we've seen limited offenses win super bowl titles.
Reischea (10:14 AM)
6-2 right now, with Washington as you mentioned, KC twice, and Oakland... that gives them 10 wins right there.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Wanna start a pool about which STU flips first? Only way they know how to debate Skip.
micheal (oregon)
yes the chiefs are a joke and now we see that the broncos arent as good as everyone thought they were
Umor (Detroit)
Stevie Y change his game from scorer to complete player. Ivo could learn a lesson from him.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
colts r the best team and we r injured !!
dana (10:15 AM)
michael - they didn't lose to nothing teams...
Peter (Colorado Springs)
KC is a division game...meaning thats anyones ball game in the AFC West Reischea :D
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
This is going to be a long week of listening to everyone say the bengals don't have a chance. just like ravens week
micheal (oregon)
true
mari (ok)
the pats are also injured...all teams have injuries...the colts arent the same colts as always
Brian (SoCal)
Denver will still win 10 games. Steelers are a good team. They just beat the Broncos.
mike randle (chicago il)
dangelo hall you really scared of a offense cordinator or you still trying to be like prime time deon and still the show
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Yeah, if Indy doesn't pick it up, the Patriots will pick apart their secondary, Tom is hitting his stride, and you can't bet against Belicheck and his football mind. High chance that the Saints are the only undefeated team come Monday.
mod (10:17 AM)
still too early to say the Shaq deal in Cleveland ain't gonna work?
Brian (SoCal)
Broncos hung in most of the game. They will be okay.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
i agree bengalbill.
Dylan (Alaska)
colin cowherd was just comparing orton and brees. he said brees has always been great never a doubt. i wonder if he forgot he sucked for the first 2 years he started, otherwise SD wouldnt have picked phillip rivers!!!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Denver won't win games without a deep game against good teams
Matt (Baltimore)
I hate to say it, but the Bengals have convinced me. Two wins over the Ravens and a win already over the Steelers...they are the real deal this year.
Roller (Kentucky)
Its going to be a long week if I have to hear anymore about the Bungals
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Denver did what the Steelers couldn't and that's beat the Bengals.
micheal (oregon)
the bengels are not weak they have beat good teams unlike the broncos
Joey (Rutland VT)
Hockey?? what is that? like Futboul they play outside the USA.Only sports we care about in AMERICA is Football, Basketball,Baseball!!
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Didn't Denver have a 3 game lead late last year and failed to make the playoffs?
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Re: best team in NFL, I would have to vote either Saints or Colts as best team
mike randle (chicago il)
the giants aren who we thought they where !!!! and now they on the hook
Umor (Detroit)
Bengals got a defense now.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
mari, good luck to your Pats, but they have to DO IT on the field! They ALREADY have losses, and STATISTICALLY more MAY follow. Temper your fan-dom with reality.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
No it isn't mod stick a fork in Shaq he's done.
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Denver wont make the playoffs, its just that simple. They were on an early season high, Kyle Orton is no John Elway. Believe that, San Diego wins the divison.
Brian (SoCal)
sure sign it is about the money is when someone says "it is not about the money".
Guy (Jacksonville)
Next MNF Cleve/Balt, well a new hank Jr song anyway.
RJ (Boston)
Dave in Tallahasee sounds a lot like Gruden... "He'll race you from center field to home. He's THAT fast. I LOVE being associated with that guy!"
Ray (Arlington, VA)
LeBron and D. Wade should give up a little money to combine forces in MIA. Would reel off 6 championships.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The Colts aren't the same Colts? 4th time in 5 years they are 8-0.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Dare I say Cleveland's coach is the problem? Offensively, they looked confused and when LeBron sits on the bench, it's a nightmare.
willie (topeka basement)
i think they need to figure out how to use shaq and lebron together. lebron wld be way better withouth handling the point so much and having the point send the ball to the block first then out to lebron or the other wing. ask the zenmaster
Joey (Rutland VT)
If I was Lebron,Wade,Bosh/orAMare I would take Le$$ dough to sign to and play together think they r ALL YOUNG AND IF THEY WERE TO PLAY TOGETHER THEY COULD OWN nba FOR AWHILE AND $$$ WILL COME W/ ENDORSEMENTS SO YES i BELIEVE leBRON!!
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Ravens exposed the Broncos defense and Steelers proved it again, get after the QB with aggressive rush schemes. I knew this last year when Orton played with the Bears, you rush him and keep him out of his comfort range, he folds like a lawn chair. Unless they can get Moreno back from where ever his head went, Broncos choke again this year.
micheal (oregon)
i dont think lebron is about the money because at the end of the day every athlete wants a championship
terez (east saint louis)
Hey Dana what you think Denver will lose next week and the Chargers will win and the big show down the week after for first place ha ha
Africa (Brooklyn)
I think Shaq is an attempt to keep LeBron in Cleveland, not a way to solve their playoffs problems.
micheal (stryffeler)
why does everyone say that lebron is about the money
dana (10:25 AM)
michael, b/c most people are. most try as you or I would to get the most money we can get.
Guy (Jacksonville)
The trouble with the Cavs is D. West not playing enough minutes and having Big Z on the floor with Shaq at the same time.
mike (Atlanta)
looking at denvers schedule they have the skins, raiders, and chiefs twice. All winable games. Then play the eagles, colts, and giants. Giants game could be a win at home. I say finish 12-4
lawrence (stowe vt)
Wondering if da bears have Mike shanahan's number on speed dial
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
The best part of this years Bengals is they are the youngest roster in the nfl so they are going to be around for a long time
Dylan (alaska)
shaq is done mod, might get 11 and 8 out of him just because he's bigger than everyone else.
Roller (Kentucky)
I hate to say but Big Z is better than Shaq now and Shaq should save the embarrassment for himself.
Umor (Detroit)
You see Hines ward with the high jump over a player and didn't break his stride.
Brian (SoCal)
Keep fighting Big Cap.
Jamison (Detroit)
How bout those steelers don't ever count them out
Riley (Manhattan)
Skip doesn't know football at all. Bailey is still a great cornerback in the NFL
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Hey hey, hockey is the only sport where fighting is allowed and afterwards they go on "time-out" Where else can you have an ugly mug smiling on time-out after you just "trucked" someone?
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Cory can you please make another John Madden Statement.
Roller (Kentucky)
Lebron needs a runningmate like Stoudemire.
Carlos (Atlanta)
The team LeYork will go to that has the talent around him is the Atlanta Hawks, Joe Johnson will be a free-agent so the Hawks won't resign him, add james, move crawford to sg, marvin to the bench,...championship
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
even if it is about the money with james if you were the owner woud'nt you pay him what he wants toi keep him i would
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Hey Stews, New Orleans does not have the best rb trio. Barber, Jones, and Choice easily grade better than Pierre, Bell, and Bush.
micheal (stryffeler)
good point dana
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Shaq clogs up the paint area, and the Cavaliers are a slashing team, which causes problems. They aren't good enough around the perimeter to play in-and-out ball, and Shaq and/or Lebron can't win a game on their own.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
How many years was Jordan with the Bulls before their first championship?
micheal (stryffeler)
i dont think lebron and d wade will join forcesin miami but i would love to see either of them here in portland next year
Africa (Brooklyn)
Hasn't LeBron stated he wants to be a billionaire athlete?
Demetric (Orlando)
The poll question today is a slap in the face of The Great Peyton Manning, he is the greatest QB of any generation
lawrence (stowe vt)
Lebron did say he wanted to be the richest athlete in the world, so money may have something to do with the decesions he makes.
micheal (stryffeler)
i would pay him what he wanted
Jamison (Detroit)
Hey Dana how about a shot out to the man the myth the legend that is #19 Steve Yzerman.
mike (Atlanta)
ok ok bengal bill we get it bengals are good ocho is god blah blah blah. Stop rubbing it in.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
They forgot "and star of Airplane"
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Bengals owner deserves huge credit for his patience. Most owners would have booted Marvin Lewis and blown up that team.
dana (10:27 AM)
lawrence i remember him saying he wanted to be something like the biggest celebrity in the world or something like that not the richest
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
It's true. When you watch Cleveland play they don't really have an offensive scheme. The coach is the only blame for that.
Roller (Kentucky)
Its not too early mod, Shaq is through and these teams that keep throwing $$ at him are stupid, he is just a mouthpiece!!
Andrew (Boston)
Cory from Texas- you don't need a John Elway to Win Superbowls , all you need is a good defense just ask Eli Manning and Trent Dilfer
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
For LeBron it's not about the money. What he makes in endorsements makes his NBA salary look like pocket change.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Mod- hard to tell when we're no where NEAR mid-season. Looking back doesn't help, 'cuz he never had LeBron to partner with! How they adjust to each other will be the litmus test.
Brandon (State College, Pa)
There is no way the Saints could win a game in Pittsburgh and the Steelers' D would dominate in New Orleans. There is no such thing as a neutral field when the Steelers are involved our fans travel everywhere.
dana (10:28 AM)
good HHOF class Stevie Y went in with!
Guy (Jacksonville)
Lebron has won lots of games on his own in the past!
micheal (stryffeler)
dont think so brady i better then peyton
Africa (Brooklyn)
Peter: I believe 7 or 8 years.
Manny Ramirez (LA)
The Knicks will sign Joe Johnson D Wade and Lebron next summer to play with David Lee and AI.
lawrence (stowe vt)
For 1 game I am taking Tom Brady without a doubt.
Dylan (alaska)
the broncos are who we though they are! go vikings!
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
Peyton Manning!!
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Rivers should be on that list Jay.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
How many years was it before MJ got his first championship?
Africa (Brooklyn)
Manny Ramirez: It's called SALARY CAP
Andrew (Boston)
dana - that had to be the best hockey hall Of Fame class ever
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
What's this I hear about the Bruins scouting Peter Forsberg?
Joey (Rutland VT)
GLORY brings GOLD,DANA a loaded up team would get their $$$ plenty of companys would give them so much $$ during their Run I would not be surprised to see it this is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity.SEIZE IT!!
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
PLEEZ MOD,No hockey post 2day...
Carlos (Atlanta)
Hockey has a HOF....wow...i guess pigs do fly
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Dang it, if the Cowboys keep winning, will never get Shannohan or Holgrem.
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Thoughts and prayers go out to Kareem Abdul Jabar. Get well soon!!!
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Carlos: there's a killer bowling hall of fame too
Umor (Detroit)
Stevie Y went in the HHOF with a couple of guys he won his last stanley cup with.
mike randle (chicago il)
HOW dallas won was easy they tookd away the big plays from the eagles and forced them to play short football which the couldnt do without westbrook
Roller (Kentucky)
First of all the Cavs need to tell Shaq to hit the road and then tell the coach to leave also cause he is not a good offensive coach and he doesn't use Lebron right.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Lets talk about how TCU jumped over Cinci in the BCS and how unfair this is.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Isn't it ODD that the owners voted to lower the salary cap during the same summer that every player of worth is available?
mike randle (chicago il)
COWBOYS. new WR ,new stadium, new atmosphere, new romo, Now they win
Umor (Detroit)
Cleveland wanna keep Lebron. Get him A star player to run with. He'll stay.
mike (Atlanta)
out of all the cowboys players you guys got this guy? no offense bobby but i never heard of you.
Kyle (Pocahontas AR)
Lebron could still be the richest w/out signing the biggest deal, he has tons of endorsments!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Carpenter was probably the mole in Dallas.
micheal (oregon)
dont worrie cory you will still get them because the cowboys will choke in the playoffs this year
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Cory, the Cowboys hardly ever use Choice and seldom use a 2nd RB except when they have the lead. I saw all 3 Steeler RBs last night, albeit Parker was in for 3 or 4 plays.
Brian (SoCal)
Stevie Y was a great player. He deserves his props.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Brown got coach of the year for posting the most wins in the NBA with only one really good player.
willie (topeka basement)
cleve needs a triangle like offense
Andrew (Boston)
Carlos from Atlanta , so maybe your sports knowledge is limited, you obviously know nothing about hockey so don't comment on it. I find what you said offense to me as a Canadian
Manny Ramirez (LA)
Africa it's called the Knicks are under the salary cap next season dipstick.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Romo is who we think he is...He'll choke in the playoffs.
Matt (Baltimore)
I would love to see Shanahan in Dallas...not sure if it would work though. But Wade Phillips gets it pretty rough for a guy who's won 70% of his games as Cowboys coach!
RJ (Boston)
Brees was under rated in San Diego. I DO NOT get the hate on him in here. He has always been under rated. Was that way at Purdue, and SD... he's better than Rivers man.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Dave Dallas used all 3 of their running backs too. Choice even scored a touchdown.
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Everyone forgets that there is a max contract in the NBA. There'll be a slew of teams there to offer him, wade, and bosh the max, so the final decision won't be about the money.
Jamison (Detroit)
Rivers don't have a ring does he.
Roller (Kentucky)
Like I said before if their is a salary cap in the NBA then any team can match another team if they have the space!!
Brian (SoCal)
Phil Knight should offer LeBron extra Nike cash so he will go to Blazers.
mike (Atlanta)
if lebron goes to new york it could make or brake his career. He knows what it feels like to carry a bad team why would he really want to do it again.
mod (10:33 AM)
I didn't see any Brees hate
mike (Atlanta)
whoa its the hyphen! now we got some star power.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
guy the coaches poll and the media are looking for any reason to not want the bearcats to have a chance to play for the national championship game. even if they dont get the chance still a great team
lawrence (stowe vt)
hopefull dallas wont let ed werder near the locker room if they want to continue have success. ED werder = national enquirer reporting.
Reischea (10:34 AM)
While I agree with the don't get the hate on Brees stuff, cuz I don't either, I won't say he's better than Rivers. Both are excellent, and I don't think you go wrong with either. I just think, Brees is a better fit in New Orleans, and Rivers in San Diego.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Mike Shanahan will end a Washington Redskin. Jim Zorn days are done.
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Why would Lebron go to a rebuilding team when he's come so close to tasting a title?
micheal (oregon)
knicks might be under the cap but will they really be able to get lebron
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
How bout dat Rugby.......
mike randle (chicago il)
andy reid might be on the hot seat with charlie they can both go fishing this summer cause i dont think andy's gonna get that extenssion calling plays like that and not using vick
Africa (Brooklyn)
Wow, thanks MOD, so I'm a dipstick because I don't think it's possible to sign 3 contracts worth 21 million dollars under a 50 million dollar salary cap? Good job
Demetric (Orlando)
Not hating, but Leborn can't market well, just look at coke-cola, they moved him from Sprite, to Powerade, to Vitman (and he needed Kobe help for that)
Joey (Rutland VT)
I hate the Lakers and always Rooted for the Celtics over the Lakers Hated Kareem on court, feared him Yes! but My prayers r w/ u Kareem GOD BLESS!!!
Africa (Brooklyn)
Bobby Carpenter is a pretty good linebacker. Buckeye! articulate too
mike randle (chicago il)
man what happend to football i dont know if its UFC cause everytime i turn it on somone getting poke in the eye punch in the face or knocked out cold . OVEY
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
shane reid the broncos won on the deflection cincy ran up and down the feild and just could not get it together in the red zone
mike randle (chicago il)
Ravens I JUST DONT know with you guys somtimes you look like superbowl and than somtimes you look like the toilet bowl
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Reischea, i agree with you, Brees is a better fit in NO!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Rivers doesn't have a ring but he is better than Eli. Brees struggled in San Diego before he left. Rivers took the same San Diego team Brees left and made them, a contender.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Why would Lebron even consider NY, he said, "Im a winner..." and would only play for a contender, he can stay in Cleveland and lose now.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Rivers doesn't have a ring but he is better than Eli. Brees struggled in San Diego before he left. Rivers took the same San Diego team Brees left and made them, a contender.
Rhino (Springfield)
How can skip complain about Tiger only being a front runner and can never come from behind, then The Saints never being behind the first 5 games showing their prowess, then play and win from behind their last 3 games showing their moxie.
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Dave are you kidding me?? Choice is used a LOT as well as Jones. Choice IS there 3rd down back. Jones is there 2nd quarerback. Look it up, see which trio has the most yards and yards per rush. Cmon guys I know my 'Boys.
Roller (Kentucky)
Jerry Jones has the guy he wants to coach the Cowboys cause he can pull the strings, all he wants is a puppet on the sidelines!!
lawrence (stowe vt)
Lebron will sign with the lakers this year as kobe still hasnt signed his extension last I knew.
Umor (Detroit)
In the AFC, theres been a good team not making the playoffs the past 10 years.
Brian (SoCal)
Who else did Chargers get in the Manning/rivers deal?
mike (Atlanta)
i pick brees. not for any football reason just cuz rivers is arrogant and immature.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
were talking about football and basketball...how did Golf come into the picture?
RJ (Boston)
Atlanta commenting on hockey... yeah that's all we need. That city failed as an NHL home TWICE!!
mari (ok)
they also are what? 2nd in PA and 4th in PS ...to me that is done on the ffield
Roller (Kentucky)
Hey Doug or whatever your name is just remember an L is an L and a W is a W!!
Reischea (10:36 AM)
Wouldn't be the first big money star to depart for an inferior team... remember ARod leaving Seattle (playoffs Seattle) for Texas. Now BIG BIG DIFFERENCE HERE... Cleveland I believe can offer him the most money across the board... NY can't, but it offers glitz and glam. If you want a title... Knicks aren't it, at least not in the near future.
micheal (oregon)
i can beat marshall and sims-walker in basketball
Joey (Rutland VT)
brian S Merriman
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
The Chargers got Shawne Merriman in the Eli/Rivers deal too.
Brian (SoCal)
Shaq to Cavs not loking good right now, but give them another month before carving him up.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Being that Lebron likes to distribute the rock and they need a scorer. Would AI be a good fit for Cleveland?
mari (ok)
i am in reality...they have 2 losses and make take more..i simply dont think the colts will be one of them
scott (niagara falls)
the bengals are for real
Peter (Colorado Springs)
What is Shaq doing in the NBA, he was done after leaving the Heat.
RJ (Boston)
Stevie Y, Brett HUll, Brian Leetch were all great players and deserve their props. Never seen a better PP sniper than Hull. He was constant motion... drawing defenders all around the zone, opening lanes.
Matt (Baltimore)
Shaq needs to hang it up so he can focus on his real talent...hip-hop.
Reischea (10:38 AM)
No, Law enforcement.
Rhino (Springfield)
I'd say Saints are the best overall Team in the NFL, Peyton is the best Player, and Peterson is the best athlete, discuss :o).
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Matt...hahaha
Demetric (Orlando)
RJ...the last time i checked Boston college team is the only "title winning" hockey team...the bruins..always choke
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Cory Lake,Tx It's apparent that comment came from someone who doesn't watch Dallas play.Barber is the 1st and 4th quarter back. They alternate Jones and Choice in between.
Roller (Kentucky)
Celtics win the East this year so no need to be talking to anybody from any other teams Dana.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Sims-Walker is a good personality.
Joey (Rutland VT)
Reischa , the Celts were worst team yr b4 they won title!!! Fa class is great
Andrew (Boston)
Carlos from Atlanta- Us Canadians are passionate about hockey, and we take it very seriously. You should go to a Thrashers game
Africa (Brooklyn)
The reason why LeBron may leave Cleveland for NY is if they are able to acquire another superstar talent. Maybe Chris Bosh? Joe Johnson? Remember, Boston was AWFUL and then they got 2 All Stars and won a title
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
Jay, where you at Jay?
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Lawrence, the Lakers can barely squeeze the players they have under the salary cap. No room for another big free agent, let alone another max contract.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
peter because its tony romos best sport
mike (Atlanta)
what are you talking about RJ. The Thrashers are a hit in this town.
mari (ok)
in my fandom non reality i dream of lebron signing with the celts...........................i did say it was a dream before ya'll start yellin
jay (10:39 AM)
whats up room! i hope all is well with everyone today!
mod (10:39 AM)
very chippy chat today
mod (10:40 AM)
I'm going to have to start throwing the yellow hankee around to reign it in
Brian (SoCal)
Shaq's talent is definitely NOT ACTING. Kazaam!!
mike (Atlanta)
lee corso saying hooters is number 1. now thats just funny.
Cory (Lake Jackson,TX)
This is the premire weekend of the NFL. Pats v Colts, Dal v GB, and yes Pitt v Cinci. Oh yea, and the Texans are on a bye.
willie (topeka basement)
shaq isnt done. use him correctly
Joey (Rutland VT)
no shaq VS great Show
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
think he gets back talked when he makes an arrest?
Guy (Jacksonville)
Shaq is getting 21 mil this year, thats why he is still in the NBA.
RJ (Boston)
Mod, Someone raked on Cowherd's comments praising Brees early-early in the chat.
micheal (oregon)
i can beat marshall and sims-walker in basketball
Vin (Miami, FL)
what's Skip and the Stews take on: Former No. 1-ranked Marat Safin believes that Andre Agassi should give his tennis titles back after confessing he tested positive for a banned substance during his career and lied about it to the ATP.
mod (10:41 AM)
no Agassi talk today, its Sesame Street's 40th anniversary though, who's your favorite character? Priorities, Vin
mike (Atlanta)
i love champ bailey but last night every time he went one on one with holmes he got beat.
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Mod too early to tell with Shaq and Cavs. Just need to get the chemistry before playoffs and have him fresh. Either way, healthy Celts still best in East.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Cavs picked up Shaq to try to deal with D. Howard in the playoffs.
Brian (SoCal)
Just wanted to say that I am glad Blount from oregon will get to finish his senior year on the field.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Mod, I'm getting it from all angles, isn't there another Cowboy fan out there???
Joey (Rutland VT)
Jay, didnt u go to bed in middle of last nights game ......Noring or some such so how can u mtalkm about that game!!
Rhino (Springfield)
As a long time 49er fan, and having always considered Montana to be the greatest QB of all time (debateable sure but I know a lot probably wouldn't agrue to hard with me). That being said. I'm really thinking we're witnessing the greatest QB of all time in Peyton Manning.
Andrew (Boston)
hi Jay how are you, You must be happy because I am sure the Browns are going to find someone with NFL knowledge to rebuild the team?
micheal (oregon)
what do you all think about blunt getting reinstated at the university of oregon
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
"heck yeah" love those commercials
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Agree Africa. Miami also has a ton of room under the cap. At least enough to keep D Wade and get LeBron if they're creative.
Reischea (10:43 AM)
Joey from Rutland, not arguing that point at all.
Roller (Kentucky)
What up Jay?? I was wondering if you was in the house!
scott (niagara falls)
people are on edge
RJ (Boston)
Brees struggled early in SD, but was in the league MVP discussion the year they ran him out of town... He was FINE with Gates and LT to work with.
dylan (alaska)
shaq's new nickname should be the "big expiring contract" after hes up this year, that 20 mill will be used to try and bring the real help for bron if he wants to stay.
Brian (SoCal)
Big ups to Coast Guard from a Navy guy.
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
I'm a Cowboy fan Cory...I'll take some of the pressure off
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
I'm here with ya Corey. Check my posts.
mike (Atlanta)
DURING war time the coast guard doesn't get a lot of love.
Matt (Baltimore)
Gotta go with Mr. Aloysius Snuffleupagus.
Roller (Kentucky)
Before everyone gets all bent out of shape when college basketball gets underway there will be about 7 or 8 teams from the SEC ranked in the top 25 once it gets rolling and some of the inferior teams get knocked out!!
RJ (Boston)
Demetric... Yeah, so the Bruins haven't won in a couple decades... we've never been in the "team might have to leave town" discussion. Atlanta lost the Flames and is about to lose the Thrashers.TWICE they've stunk as a NHL city. All I'm saying. Well... that and how I ain't listening to anyone from there talk hockey.
Rhino (Springfield)
Super Grover!
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
what does it mean to be "critically acclaimed" but they do seem like good topics, though unfortunately I have not seen one yet
Africa (Brooklyn)
Please, Dwight Howard will eat Shaq alive this season.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Call him Flip Jay
RJ (Boston)
When was the last time the Thrashers held onto a Star in a free agent year? Say bye-bye to Kovlachuk this spring too...
Andrew (Boston)
Mod- don't you think Agassi should have gone to therapist instead of writing a book.
dana (10:45 AM)
Chris, totally agree. It's the side we like to show of guys here. If you don't like it, I guess you'd better go watch something else.
Reischea (10:45 AM)
Now, does Cleveland convince say Bosh and Wade to come there... just food for thought....
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Elmo was definitely the best character on Sesame Street, hands down.
mod (10:45 AM)
Agassi's a fascinating story...lot of ups and downs to his public life...I'm a big fan of the SportsCentury: Andre Agassi
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
I had to stop watching the Len Bias 30 for 30...It was that good and I knew the ending.
mike (Atlanta)
of course winning is more important to money than lebron. The dude has money and will continue to get money. But he wants to win.
Demetric (Orlando)
You gotta love "super glover" although he never helped anyone he was always good for a laugh
Roller (Kentucky)
I liked Oscar the Grouch, gotta love a dude that's green and doesn't care what he smells like!! haha
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Cory, im actually a Redskins fan. Sorry cant help ya!
mike randle (chicago il)
lebron is gonna go to NYC he got to many friends there
Brian (SoCal)
Skips favorite is Oscar the grouch.
mari (ok)
reish thats what i was saying in here last week
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
I think Lebron will go after a championship, not the $$$, because he wins championships, his long term income will multiply
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
is skip gonna take DH wit him 2 cape may...........lol
Ray (Arlington, VA)
One game QB--Peyton Manning. Biggest student of the game. Best leader. Supreme accuracy.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Thats boys, Chris and Shane......
Rhino (Springfield)
Andrew- a therapist probably told him to write his thoughts down and he figured he'd make some money out of it lol
Joey (Rutland VT)
reischea what r u talking about? which point the Celts??
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Wow - love the idea of Lebron in MIA with Wade, that would be an amazing team!
Joey (Rutland VT)
The count of course who is a Yankees fan 27......27 World series titlesahahaha
Africa (Brooklyn)
Ray: I don't even remember what I said lol

Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
I liked Oscar the Grouch, as do a lot of Skip haters.
Umor (Detroit)
The Therapists probelly got Andre to write the book.
Brian (SoCal)
LeBron looking to coattail a championship? maybe.
mike randle (chicago il)

lawrence (stowe vt)
I would like to know why jayz was with the yankees for the parade I didnt see him catching any flyballs in the outfield.
mike (Atlanta)

Peter (Colorado Springs)
cookie monster. Mod.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Mod it would have to be the count. One,two,three.....
scott (niagara falls)
i liked grover
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
LeBron is similar to a young Kobe. Ball hog. Unless he learns what being a team player is, I would hate for him to be on my team.
micheal (oregon)
was does skip always diss on lebron is he jelous of james
Umor (Detroit)
Love The Count, Especailly how Dave Chapelle does him in his act.

BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
morning cleveland boy
mike (Atlanta)
look mod no one is happy when the steelers win. NO ONE!
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
The Celtics have 3/4 salaries coming off the books, and Paul Pierce has said he's willing to deny his option and sign for much less so they can bring a star player in to compensate for the Celtics' age. I wouldn't be surprised to see Danny make a foray into this big free agent market. The C's years are dwindling.
Rhino (Springfield)
I'm more surprised people didn't realize Agassi was doing drugs, I mean, look at the guy. He always had the rock star persona. o.O
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
lol @ Lawrence
Demetric (Orlando)
Mod, I been saying for years Agassi took a dive for Pete in that last US Open they played....someone needs to investagate
Tony (Buffalo)
Skip your the man dana you take to many vactions dont worry jay you take aton too!
mod (10:48 AM)
he didn't take a dive, no way...Pete just aced him a million times, Agassi was defenseless
Andrew (Boston)
Rhino- LOL , I can see this Agassi book as a money grab
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
Great point on the "un-Jordan" Lebron should say, "I will take less so that others will come here so we can win a championship."
Guy (Jacksonville)
Cavs need to hurry-up and decide if D. West is sane enough to play full time minutes, the Parker idea is a bigger flop then Shaq, they can always start Big Z (if needed).
Africa (Brooklyn)
Adam: What are you talking about? In terms of dollars, the Knicks can't get LeBron but as far as 'why would LeBron go to NY', it's not far fetched.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Right now, the Knicks will probably have 27.3 million on their payroll (if Jeffries and Curry pick up their options). The salary cap is 57.7 million. So the Knicks have 30.4 million to work with. No Bosh-LeBron, or Wade-LeBron or even Bosh-Wade/Amare
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Tonto? He did take the Bulls back to the playoffs after Jordan retired. Tonto? Skip is crazy.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Lebron a ball-hog??? What are you talking about, he spreads the ball around more thyen any great player!
jay (10:49 AM)
hey we try! what can i say. im jaycation and dana's holi-dana jacobson.
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Jay, how are you doing?
RJ (Boston)
Cookie Monster... back in the day. Now that he is the veggie eating "cookie monster" there's a certain edge that is lost, you know?
jay (10:49 AM)
im well real how are you!
mod (10:49 AM)
is it true they just call him Cookie now and no Monster?
mike (Atlanta)
wait a min. lebron did not talk about going to the lakers. that was some stupid blog. he hasn't said anything about going to play with a star. He has said nothing.
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
It is great to hear Brandon Jennings - he sounds like he can dispell much of the perception that he wasn't smart enough to go to college. He sounds mature for a young man, and pretty sharp as well.
Jon (Washington)
All the players on the Bulls teams became someone because of Jordan. They were all some guy before Jordan.
mike randle (chicago il)
scottie pippen some guy when jordan first retired scottie almost took them to the finals skip know you sports before you talk skip
Peter (Colorado Springs)
hola Jay!
Umor (Detroit)
Jimmy the Greek on CBS.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
We've been talking about what Lebron might do next year since last year....blah blah blah...he needs help to win, but players in the NBA get paid for individual performance...nothing to do with team
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
hey bengalbill i was talking bout NFL
mike (Atlanta)
scottie pipen is just some guy, apet is overrated, and lebron is the anti-jordan. Where in the world did you people get this guy.
jay (10:50 AM)
hey peter!
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Scottie Pippen was the only guy Jordan personally thanked in his HOF speech. Scottie was no JAG (Just Another Guy)
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
SKIP'S rgt pippen w/o MJ is just another guy....
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Jay hold me back son lol
Andrew (Boston)
Mod- So now we have to look back at Agassi's career , and say just cause he lost a match means he threw the match??? So is he trying say he could have beaten guys he lost to??
Jon (Washington)
If anything Michael Jordan's other guy was Coach Phil Jackson. They were bad before he came along
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Mod, i dunno, i stopped watchng a long time ago!
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
jennings is pretty good.
kenny (bristol)
okay everyone is talking about cedric benson being a mvp canidate and i understand but what i do not understand is how come no ones talking about chris johnson who has over a hundred yards more with 959 yrds with 50 less carries then cedric and chris johnson is averaging 6.7 yrds per carries and the two have the same number of td's how come know ones talking about chris johnson he should definitly be a canidate
Corey (louisiana)
Scottie Pippen was "just some guy"? wow
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
sorry cory must a mis red
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Sorry jay, scottie was just another guy. He was top 50 back then. If they did a top 50 now i bet pip wouldnt be in it
Reischea (10:51 AM)
People tend to forget, as great as Jordan is, and he is absolutely one of if not the greatest, he didn't win those six titles by himself. Did he leave Chicago.. no. KG left Minnesota, Karl Malone and Gary Payton both left their lifelong teams in hopes of getting that ring (which they didn't). Key complimentary players are necessary. The Admiral didn't get his until Tim Duncan arrived.
Reischea (10:52 AM)
Magic had Kareem, Worthy, Cooper.....
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Kobe did threaten to leave LA if they didn't bring in talent. Jordan knew he needed his parts. That's why he said he was leaving if they didn't resign Phil and Rodman.
Carlos (Atlanta)
Dana, last week when Jay said we have Mark on the phone, I was thinking the Sanchize
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yes! pippen was just a good role player. Look at what happened after he left chicago
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
jennings way better than rubio
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
I'm doing great. I enjoyed that segment on LeBron James. It was quite interesting. LeBron should stay with the CAVS, the victory would be sweet if you win with a group of core guys over the long haul. If they put a lot of talent around him, the championship would not mean as much.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Wouls LA Lakers be as good if they never got Phil Jackson?
Guy (Jacksonville)
Sorry NY Lebron is staying in Cleveland, enjoy watching playoffs on tv.
Brian (SoCal)
Jenings seems to be more mature than most of the young kids.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Lebron proves he is the greatest, who does he have? West, Williams...com-on-man.
mike randle (chicago il)
yeah kobe couldnt do it until he got gasol jordan didnt do it until he had pippen and the list goes on
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Great Veteran's Day show from Mike and Mike- except they needed to get the guys/girls behind them involved more...No clowning for the cams: ROLL TIDE, GO USC/ OHIO STATE, etc- they just sat there.
Africa (Brooklyn)
But basketball is marketed on the superstar play and basketball fans easily forget about the guys who hold up the Jordans/Kobes/Magic's of the sport
Jonathan (ATL)
Mod, coming off the bench today. I was taking the day off from the chat until Skip's comment had me running to my laptop. How can Skip say that Pippen, one of the top 50 players of all time voted by his peers, is just an average player? He's certifiably crazy.
Reischea (10:53 AM)
How was pre and post Scottie Pippen?
Steve (Huntsville, AL)
oops - "my entrance was kinda dope" well, he still sounds pretty mature - but I'll retract the "sharp" comment - lol
Joey (Rutland VT)
Pippen was AEWESOME many wouild say MJ could NEVER have won w/ out him!! I agree Scottie w2as a lock down Defender who was CLUTCH
Jon (Washington)
Jordan never wanted to play with another mainstream guy because he wanted to beat the other guys to prove that he is the best
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Kenny, Chris Johnson plays on a team with two wins. Tough to get MVP talk when our team has gone from first to worst.
RJ (Boston)
Isaiah had Joe Dumars. Rick Mahorn and the microwave!
willie (topeka basement)
lol pip was a great num 2
Corey (louisiana)
People DO tend to forget that the Bulls nearly went back to the finals without Jordan
Roller (Kentucky)
I like Rubio, Jennings was jealous!!
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
I think comparing Lebron leaving Cleveland to KG leaving Minnesota is unfair to the slew of great roleplayers Cleveland has. Minnesota had KG and KG only, Lebron has a lot of emerging great roleplayers.
Jon (Washington)
exactly jordan left when phil left because phil was his other guy
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Hey Guy from Jax, did you watch last year's playoff run? LeBron wanted to do it all himself. The kid is reading too much about himself in the media. If he went to NYC, he could do worse.
Joey (Rutland VT)
i have jennings on my fant team HE IS AWESOME!!!!!!! ITALY helped him alot if he continyes it more porps may follow his lead and get$$ in europe and play w/ better comp.
Reischea (10:55 AM)
So what was John Stockton to Karl Malone?
Brian (SoCal)
Rubio knows he is not NBA ready so he stayed in europe.
mike randle (chicago il)
when jordan left chicago before scottie got old he still average twenty points and ten rbs and like 2 steels scootie post was just as good
Harrison (m-town az)
hey skip just in case you hadnt realized... jordan never won without pippen or the other way around the needed eachother
jay (10:56 AM)
hey if anyones in nyc tonight, come by the espnzone and say hi!
Reischea (10:56 AM)
No, I'm sorry Mike Randle from Chicago. I thought I posted something else and responded. The pre/post Scottie was trying to actually compliment him... the fact that I don't believe Jordan wins all 6 titles without him.
Reischea (10:57 AM)
No, I'm sorry Mike Randle from Chicago. I thought I posted something else and responded. The pre/post Scottie was trying to actually compliment him... the fact that I don't believe Jordan wins all 6 titles without him.
Reischea (10:59 AM)
Folks, I know Stockton and Malone didn't win a ring. The train of thought was debate saying its ludicrous for LeBron to leave to win a title with other people. I named individuals who left teams to win or TRY to win with other people. Also listed individuals that didn't win until other individuals came aboard (aka Tim Duncan)
mike randle (chicago il)
okay reischa u scared me for a second
Umor (Detroit)
Dana, Did Sammi Sosa get a acid skin face peel. That was scary.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
KG did have Cassell in Minnesota and was on their way to dethroning the Lakers in the playoffs until Cassell sprained his ankle. Sam went for 40+ in the 2 games he played.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Hey does anyone give the Rockets a chance to make the playoffs with this under-rated roster??
Rhino (Springfield)
Sorry Jay, "V" is on tonight!!!!
lawrence (stowe vt)
I think the roids that sosa might have taken is turning him into a vampire...even his eyes have change colors..spooky.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
I think its to early for everyone to say acquiring Shaq was a mistake. Give him the 40-50 games to work it out.
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Hey LeBron, while watching you shoot from the 3 is impressive, it's still a little odd watching a 6ft point guard get the rebound. Let other players shoot the 3 big guy, and play better defense (you know around the hoop), you might find the Cavs can win more often ----- as a team.
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Shaq is just Mike Sweetney on steroids now. lol
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Skip you hit it on the head Shaq slowed down the Suns and he's doing it to this Cavs team.
Jon (Washington)
scottie was at his prime when he played with jordan, obviously still will be good when he left those middle years.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
I'd take Gortat over Shaq right now.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
jordan didnt have a Kobe or a D wade on his side
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Thats the pproblem I have with the nba to many super egos and not enough team concept
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Sammy Sosa uses makeup what the hell was that
Umor (Detroit)
Doug Finally seeing the light about Shaq. His game is gone.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
wow "he doesnt have it" on shaq by Doug stew
Jon (Washington)
shaq is still a dominate player in the middle, the problem is the cavs play too fast for him, even if he was younger
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
I like espnzone in NY Jay brings back memories
Chad (Virginia Beach)
The NBA is so boring...who cares
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Joey and shall they should. Why not go to Europe. More money than agents or boosters can give you, and like you said better competition. NCAA will be the big loser not NBA when it comes to players playing abroad.
Roller (Kentucky)
M. Jordan, blah blah blah blah! come on
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
RAY/Va. MJ made pippen no 50 greatestplayer,(4real)no HOF ...ever...think about it...
Reischea (11:00 AM)
Oh yeah, much love for Pippen, the Worm, Kukoc... great teams with a phenomenal leader and as mentioned perhaps the greatest to ever step on the court.
Jonathan (ATL)
Harrison is right. Skip can say what he wants but without Scottie the Bulls would have won -0- championships...likewise that works the other way around too.
Jon (Washington)
i wish i could
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
stockton and malone needed eachother. Jordan didnt need pippen. Some other guy couldve stepped in and did pippens job
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Jay, id love to but Colorado Springs to NYC is a bit far!
Brian (SoCal)
centers are like pitchers. when they lose it they LOSE IT.
Dewayne (San Diego, Ca.)
Yeah and to think everyone fromESPN was saying how the Jennings kid was selfish and how he should go to college and not overseas. Looks like him making his own decision has early
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Listen I love MJ. But I'm not stupid. There is no way Jordan wins without Scottie. Pippen is top 50 because unlike most of the guys playing now he could actually play defense.
Roller (Kentucky)
why are talking about Jordon?? come on mod
john (panama city bch, fl.)
How good would LBJ be w/out the refs? EVEN I could make three point lay-ups!!!
lawrence (stowe vt)
How boring would the eastern conf. be if they loose lebron, wade, and chris b.
RJ (Boston)
Stockton to Malone = NO RINGS. AKA... the question is MOOT!
Brian (SoCal)
Stockton was the feeding machine.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Stockton and malone are BOTH hall of famers
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Yeah I'm with Ryan sit Shaq til the postseason.
Umor (Detroit)
Adam G. That's more than just makeup. Wrinkles on sosa face are gone.
Andrew (Boston)
Adam G from Tampa- It was just skin rejuvenation for Sammy Sosa , maybe he wants a Smooth face
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Slowed down Cleveland? When were they ever a running team? Do you all watch the games or just the highlights?
Jon (Washington)
The cavs need to change their game a little bit to make it better. If lebron is the next jordan then he can adapt too
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Skip needs to tell Ryan to stick to football cuz Shaq is done!!!!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
lets talk some oscar robertson
Corey (louisiana)
thing is, there aren't to many good centers left. Shaq is actually still one of them.
Jon (Washington)
look everyone. pippen is good, but without Jordan and Jackson he is unheard of and would not be a top 50. i love the bulls but its true
scott (niagara falls)
what did stockton and malone win? NOTHING!!!!!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Shaq is DONE!!! no more rings for him! and YES jordan DOES win with OUT pippen!
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Hand Shaq a microphone, I'm ready for some Shaqtastic quotes about the game in play. He really should hang up the sneaks.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
with shaq and lebron now you have 2 players that cant shoot free throws in the clutch
Demetric (Orlando)
Mod, I'm going to prove in 3 statements, that leborn needs Kobe for everything. Lebron couldn't sell Sprite, Powerade, or Vitiman Water, enter Kobe Bryant. Lebron couldn't sell shoes...enter Kobe Bryant....Lebronze couldn't win gold....enter Kobe Bryant
Roller (Kentucky)
How good would Kobe be without the refs?? The NBA is a friggin joke, that is why college b-ball is 100% better and more fun to watch.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Skip- Shaq IS 37 yrs old...he's also a 7'18" deputy that COULD throw you against your desk- and Body Search you...tread lightly, lol
Africa (Brooklyn)
But 20 mill to Shaq for him to play 12 minutes a game and then he's 'rested' for the playoffs and then Dwight Howard will run circles around him? Not a good look.
jay (11:03 AM)
aw, come on, thats not far at all! ha!
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Jay, let me know when you hit up D.C.
Jonathan (ATL)
I hate to admit this, especially after Skip bonehead comment about Pippen, but he's right about Shaq. He's been getting a pass the past couple of years but its pretty obvious that he's lost a lot.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
How can it work in the playoff? I don't get it, Howard will runs circles around the Shaq-tique.
lawrence (stowe vt)
the only area that shaq can dominate is his seat on the bench,
Jonathan (ATL)
Chad brings up an interesting point though.....the fire and star power in the NBA this years is very weak.
jay (11:04 AM)
i will. gotta hang with the sports preacher!
Jon (Washington)
franc/kennesaw, lebron has improved free throws he can do it in the clutch now
Brian (SoCal)
I just saw that INT not called in Bama / LSU game. That was pretty obvious bad call. conspiracy grows?
Lamon (Madison, IL)
didnt scottie lead the bulls to the playoffs without jordan if the cavs didnt have lebron they would barely win 30 everybody needs somebody and lebron doesnt have tht person
Africa (Brooklyn)
Jennings barely played in Italy. And Rubio is in Spain because he couldn't afford to come to America. T'Wolves are not bright.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Reischea, absolutely nothing...they never got a championship
Guy (Jacksonville)
He had no help, hence...Shaq, to take care of big post-ups by Howard.
Umor (Detroit)
You need help to win a NBA Championship. It wasn't just Kobe winning in the finals.
Corey (louisiana)
Point is everybody that won a ring always had a great cast
Reischea (11:04 AM)
Gotta throw this out there... any thoughts on Sammy Sosa's new skin?
scott (niagara falls)
nobody touches the shaqtus
Da Prototype (San Antonio)
No matter what Lebron does it WILL be scrutinized! However, Skip should be ashamed of himself for being a hypocrite! He criticizes Ochocinco for be all about self promotion and Lebron just wants a ring and that somehow is considered weak. The guy can't win!
Chad (Virginia Beach)
Yeah Shaq is awful, Marbury should be starting somewhere...oh wait its the NBA...who cares!!!!!
Guy (Jacksonville)
Cavs will win the east, they will rematch with Orlando and then you will see why Shaq was picked up...when Howard gets posted to the floor!
jay (11:05 AM)
love this ingram kid! i think he'll make a terrific pro!
RJ (Boston)
Rodman and Cartwright should get more credit for the two runs the Bulls made... somebody had to get all thos rebounds. AND THAT is where the game is won.
Jon (Washington)
stockton fed malone, it was a shame that jordan was there to stop them twice
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
John Stockton to Karl Malone is what Nash never seemed to be able to be to Shaq.
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Sammy the new Micheal Jackson?
Chris A (Bella Vista, Arkansas)
Where's a good pic of "the new Sosa"?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Wait til play off time. as far as kobe and refs??? last year in the playoffs you couldnt even look at Lebron wrong or they would call a foul on you
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Jordan doesn't win without Pippen because you take Pippen and put him on the other teams best guy. It allows MJ to have more energy on the offensive side. LeBron has to do the scoring and play all the defense. No way MJ does it without Pippen.
mari (ok)
omg resih did you see lopez last night he had a joke about that
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Why Sammy why
Corey (louisiana)
Oh and tell Skip that my Saints will be playing his Cowboys........can you say wash-out?
Demetric (Orlando)
Pippen had his chance to be "Da Man" but couldn't get it done those years MJ was retired and on those loaded Rockets and Blazers team
Roller (Kentucky)
ROOOOOOOOOOOOLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!
Jon (Washington)
Scottie did not lead the bulls, Jackson led the bulls after jordan left. he also has 10 rings to prove his leadership
willie (topeka basement)
the thing is getting lebron to let go of the ball so much
Brian (SoCal)
Sammy's new face=scary.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
no way he shot a 69 in eigth grade
willie (topeka basement)
c o n spiracy
john (panama city bch, fl.)
TY, Roller!
Jon (Washington)
this is true that stars get preference on fouls
Reischea (11:07 AM)
No Mari (OK), I was well off to sleepy land by then. What did he say? REMEMBER, public chat keep it cleaner than late night.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Not sure about the conspiracy theory...someone ask Pete Carroll.
Mike (Richmond)
When I first saw Sammy Sosa's recent picture, I thought it was from a Halloween party, he looks like a corpse.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Come playoff time Cleveland will be irrelevant this year...Boston and Magic in East and Lakers, Spurs, Nuggets and maybe Suns in West...
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
remember houston? bust! Pippen needed mike more than mike needed pippen
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Corey, any day the Cowboys lose is a good day! Good luck for that game!
joe (rockford il)
i dont think u can call the game a wash out i think dallas will give them a run for their money
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
shane (nc) pippen was the best player in PORTLAND and what happened?
scott (niagara falls)
the saints are going to wax the cowboys
Jon (Washington)
jay ask this on fourth down, who is the best breakout wide receiver
Umor (Detroit)
Reischea Your a little late on the chat with sosa.
Reischea (11:09 AM)
Ahh, was it thrown out earlier Umor. Sorry, was in hoops discussion for a while there.
James (Denver)
You all have short term memory problems . Wasnt it just 3 years ago Kobe was demanding to be traded from the Lakers becauae he didnt have enough talent around him and he wanted to win another championship . Kobe was trying to leave town to go to a team with more talent and a better chance to win . So Kobe didnt want to do it all by himself either .
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Reis so official all she needs is a whistle.
Reischea (11:11 AM)
NO, but I do have to be far more careful than you guys so I just like to put it out there from time to time.
mari (ok)
i'll start the yelling...i'm taking brady and his rings...first one was with troy brown and david patton out cold on the sideline..peyton is great but they dont win in the playoffs...i'd take big ben after brady
willie (topeka basement)
what was the non kick
joe (rockford il)
i think if any team can push the outsides of the line making brees play closer to the line dallas will be the team to do it
Jon (Washington)
james in denver, this is why kobe and lebron are not MJ. Jordan would want to be traded away from talent to prove he is the best because that is how he is. didn't you hear his HOF speech
Brian (SoCal)
Leinart had a flashback to that monday night game and was trying to let em off the hook.
Dain (Iowa City)
the reason players who don't have enough talent want to go somewhere else with more talent to win IS because basketball is a team sport, you cannot do it all by yourself!!! TEAM SPORT!!!
Umor (Detroit)
Jay and Silent Bob, My Boyz
Peter (Colorado Springs)
Off to work yall, Good show today...Stupid Doncos losing again...hope they have a better season and this is just a small learning curve.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
James is right, then the most lopsided and questionable trade of the last 20 years happened with the Pau Gasol highjacking from Memphis. Then Kobe was ok with being in LA
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Kobe didn't do it all by himself last year, he had the Celtics' help.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yea but WHO did Kobe have playing with him? NOBODY!
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
Reischea, so what you're saying is the mod doesn't "mod" your comments? Lol
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Dallas has a great chance to beat the Saints. Atlanta looked like the Pats against the Saints defense last week.
Africa (Brooklyn)
James: sports is a 'what have u said LATELY' gig dude.
Roller (Kentucky)
Can't stand Kobe
Ray (Arlington, VA)
I don't get you guys who say LeBron is a bad pitchman. He's one of the most recognizable celebs in the world. His Q score (metric for recognizabilty) is 3rd among NBAer's behind Jordan and Dr. J, and it's rising year to year.
Joey (rutland VT)
franc pip lost in Portland due to refs that is all I still have anger over the BS calls that allowed the lakers who were down 14 in 4th quarter to win!!
Corey (louisiana)
Peter, it's a big thing here because it's louisiana vs texas and there just happens to be so many trash-talking cowboy fans in louisiana and vice versa. I usually root for local teams but I hate the Cowboys.
Jon (Washington)
joe flacco having a sophomore slump? or should the ravens learn to run the ball more
Demetric (Orlando)
Pippen fans forget that he played on a loaded Houston and Portland teams, he was "Da Man" and couldn't get it done
Brian (SoCal)
Giants played to prevent the win.
Roller (Kentucky)
Giants are showing their true colors
Jon (Washington)
btw eli manning is the new trent dilfer
Chad (Las Vegas)
Have you seen what NO has done to the NFC East this year? Dallas isn't going to be any different.
Matt (NY)
lebron is going to new york
Jonathan (ATL)
Franc...how many titles did Jordan win without Scottie? -0-. So how can you say Pippen needed MJ more then vis-a-versa? The both needed each other along with Phil.
Mike (Richmond)
Sosa was miraculously able to speak English again when asked about the recent pictures though. Said it was from some medicine or a skin condition or something.
Joey (rutland VT)
jon in wash u r CRAZY Phil has always had the best talent to help him get those 10 rings L.Brown is better coach he beat phil in finals w/ phil having 4 HOF guys!!!!!!!!
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Jordan was the best player in Chicago before Scottie and what happened?
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
WHAT WE NEED IS 50 GREATEST SIDE-KICKS....PIPPEN=CEO
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Pippen was apart of one of the biggest playoff choke jobs of all time. Game 7 2000 West finals against the Lakers. They were up 15 going into the 4th quarter and fell apart.
Joey (rutland VT)
I will take the QB who is gonna win it all this yr.............TOM BRADY
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
It worked for Kobe, although I don't think he was ever really going to leave the Lakers...was using his leverage...also getting Phil back was crucial to the success and will give him one for the thumb this year
Jon (Washington)
mari (ok). offense wins games defense wins championships. brady won three rings with solid def. peyton won with bob sanders healthy. steelers won the last one because of harrisons pick six. peyton is better in every category except rings. read the stats.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
What up Jay
lawrence (stowe vt)
Tom C. was coaching scaredn ot to lose the game instaed of winning it.
Umor (Detroit)
The Cardnals are the NY Giants Road warriors this year.
Matt (NY)
the colts going undefeated?
Reischea (11:16 AM)
No
Jon (Washington)
no team will be undefeated this season
RJ (Boston)
Thing is Umor... basketball is the only team sport where one guy can make THAT much of an impact. When there are only 10 guys on the floor and he's playing 40 minutes, both ways... 1 guy can dominate. Pitchers can't help their offenses. QB's can't helpt the Defense... Goalies can't help thte power play. etc etc
Joey (rutland VT)
ALL I KNOW is JORDAN was in CHIO b4 Pip and won NODDA and also MJ doesn't even sniff those last 3 w/out RODMAN!!!!
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
The Colts will not go undefeated. They aren't playing well enough as of late.
Jon (Washington)
btw joey (vt) brady wont win it, Big Ben will again. i smell repeat!
willie (topeka basement)
can the bills do any worse?
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
The New York Giants are now playing like the New York Gnomes.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The most questionable trade was KG to Boston. Still don't know what Minnesota got out of it except that McHale helped his old team return to glory.
Brian (SoCal)
silent Bob is the man. way better than sideshow Bob.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Once-again LBJ is not leaving Cleveland, he owns the city! Just because he wore a Yankees hat and Sabathia went there is not a contract to leave.
Jon (Washington)
jordan was "nothing" without pippen. Look when they won? jackson showed up. that is the other guy. pippen did his role well so did everyone else. but it was jordan and jackson. period!
Ray (Arlington, VA)
Sosa back on "The Clear"?
mari (ok)
you read the stats i will enjoy my teams championships
Andrew (Boston)
Chad from Las Vegas- Dallas does have the running attack to keep Drew Brees off the field . Carolina almost pulled off a win against the Saints by running the ball
Dain (Iowa City)
Manning bias...Brady is better than Peyton and Eli is an average QB
Unknown (California OC)
You wish joey Tom Brady isnt gonna win anything
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
ok joey. What happened to pippen in the year and a half he was the man in Chicago? NADA! they got beat by the Knicks and the half a year MJ was gone they were struggling to make the playoffs
mike (Atlanta)
TOLD YA
RJ (Boston)
That comment was meant for Dain in IOWA, not Umor... my bad
Umor (Detroit)
The Saints could with their Sheduled
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
vick could be a good start somewhere.
Matt (NY)
i think either team are as good as 2 years pats!!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Jon (Washington) is correct. NO as in New Orleans team will be undefeated this season.
mike (Atlanta)
i bet skip brings up T.O. right now
Demetric (Orlando)
Top 5 overrated active players in sports: 5. Andy Roddick 4. Dale Earnhart Jr. 3. Tim Tebow 2. Tom Brady 1. Lelackofclass James
scott (niagara falls)
you could put peyton manning at qb for the bills and it wouldnt make a bit of difference until buffalo gets an offensive line
joe (rockford il)
there isnt a team out there this year that will make it undefeated
Africa (Brooklyn)
Vick turns the ball over as a starter!
Jonathan (ATL)
Vick to the Bills? I'll take that. He's better than anything they have right now.
Matt (NY)
why not? i can see them going all the way
Peter (Colorado Springs)
one last question i suppose ...WHY is the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East?...they are a southern team.
Reischea (11:19 AM)
If Colts get back to the offense that had them on cruise control through first 4 or 5 games, they just might. If they do what they've been doing, which a good team does, find a way win, opponent missing out on opportunities, they'll get bitten once. Could be Houston, could be Denver.
Brian (SoCal)
At least Vick could run away from oncoming rushers.
Jon (Washington)
mari i am enjoying my championships. all six of them with the sixburg steelers
Joey (rutland VT)
JOn in wash the pats have won 3 sb and pitt 2 of the 3 the PATS titles we beat pitt in afc champ in PITT
Roller (Kentucky)
The Bills need a coach first.
Matt (NY)
The saints D is just inconsistent they wont go all the way!
mike randle (chicago il)
i think that they can win with vick plus in that weather u dont need to throw it that much anyway
dana (11:19 AM)
good luck with that roller...but you are right
Jon (Washington)
only way NO goes undefeated is if they beat the pats, beyond that they have all gimme wins
Guy (Jacksonville)
Vick and TO on the same team...oh-boy...what a media buffet.
dana (11:20 AM)
guy TO is gone after this year. One year deal
joe (rockford il)
no because the saints still have to go threw dallas and with dallas's running game plus as good as dallas's d has been playing brees will struggle
mari (ok)
the pats will get the colts this week
dana (11:20 AM)
mari, pats didn't look so good in the red zone this past weekend.
Reischea (11:20 AM)
Uhh, how does Tony Romo handle the defense New Orleans has brought to just about every game?
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
When has Brees won a superbowl or a playoff game. If you hate on Romo for that reason then sane applies to Brees.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Dana I was the UM Purdue game this weekend. I am still shaking my head in disbelief from what is happening right now. UM has fallen apart.
dana (11:22 AM)
mark it's what i said when they were 4-0 - young teams are inconsistent. defense looks awful, teams have figured out offense and again it's young. Have to look at this year as a stepping stone. I'd be disappointed if next year there isn't a huge jump.
Andrew (Boston)
Reischea- if Romo can handle the Philly defense , he will be able to handle New Orlean's defense too
Dain (Iowa City)
Big Ben = Overrated Eli Manning = Overratedmust be horrible for Rivers to see them with Super Bowl rings
Jonathan (ATL)
Ben is not as consistent as Peyton or Brady. I'm taking Brady as my QB any day and twice on Sunday.
Reischea (11:22 AM)
We'll see. I'm still taking NO over Dallas.
mari (ok)
manning had no tds the week before last also
dana (11:23 AM)
im just going on momentum. i do think pats still have indy's number
Mark (Ann Arbor)
I was hoping for 7-5 and a bowl game. But I can't see that happening right now.
dana (11:23 AM)
not happening mark sorry. i hate to say it but my 5 win prediction looks accurate
RJ (Boston)
Anyone who thinks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady aren't the best two quarterbacks of this generation is a homer from another city. Those two can lead anyone, and perform. Amazing QB's both. Head and shoulders above the rest. No question.
Reischea (11:29 AM)
You know, I tweeted this earlier today, and I'm going post it here too. I am so tired of the "high and mighties" wailing on Andre Agassi. I really am. The guy copped up to using a seriously dangerous substance. A PERFORMANCE INHIBITOR, nothing near an enhancer. Agassi sank to 141 in the world that dreadful season. They all act like he tore up the tour, won all four grand slams and every event he competed in, its ridiculous.
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Marat is just jealous of Agassi's success. There is no reason to take Agassi's titles or money away, Meth isn't a performance enhancer. If anything Agassi went through more struggle than many of the opponents he faced due to those mental demons and therefore truly earned what he won.
Reischea (11:32 AM)
People are also getting on him about hating tennis. I can totally understand him not enjoying tennis. Doesn't mean he didn't enjoy what tennis gave him, two separate issues. Look at it like this... Insurance salesman....totally hates his job, but he's good at it, gets every bonus. He likes the bene's but doesn't enjoy what he has to do to get them. Tennis contrary to what many believe, was in fact Agassi's job. Guy was excellent at it, but when you drop out of high school in 9th grade, odds are against you.
Jon (Washington)
agasi didnt win anything when he used so what should he give back? if he used roids like the MLB then its a new story
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
Agassi=a human being....
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Yes, Agassi is TRULY a sucess story....whatever! As long as he sells his books... He's on a par w/ Tim Donaghy!
Da Prototype (San Antonio)
Vick makes a comeback next year on another team. He still has it, the fire is in his eyes. He's hungry. At 29, he can get his agility back with the right training.
Jon (Washington)
alex in marlborough, THANK YOU for being intelligent. i agree 1000%
lawrence (stowe vt)
all we see for the most part is the glam lifestyle of these pro's, Andre just goes to show that they have real life problems as well. I will always root for Andre in whatever he does.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I agree Reischea! I dont understand the whole andre has to give up his earnings and all that!
Guy (Jacksonville)
If Manny or A-Rod get caught doing anything "wrong" they get contract extentions...
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
I don't really buy Agassi hating tennis, I mean, isn't he married to Steffi Graf?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Not only that, how many of us were forced to do something as kids by our parents or how many of us see some parents forcing their kids to play football or whatever?
Dain (Iowa City)
Top QB's in the NFL: 1. Tom Brady 2. Peyton Manning 3. Brett Favre 4. Philip Rivers 5. Tony Romo 6. Carson Palmer 7. Drew Brees 8. Jay Cutler 9. Kurt Warner 10. Ben Roethslisberger
joey (tx)
Im tired of people standing up for drug users and people who do other crimes! They are agaist the lw fo a reason.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
I hope Agassi put's his early 90's weave for sale on eBay.
dana (11:34 AM)
more than anything jon on agassi - we should be asking what's going on with the ATP. They accepted a ridiculous excuse in this case and publicly at least one other. That would be my main concern right now.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Reischea, are you dating Colin Cowherd? He had the same view on Agassi.
mike randle (chicago il)
wow good win cardinals you should bet up on a bears team defense that has been beat up more than tina tuner when she was married to ike not impressed
Reischea (11:34 AM)
and told Steffi Graf in 1999 he didn't like tennis... her words not mine.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Just getting here, know this has probably been said but: If Michael Vick "won't be a wildcat guy" there is always that $10/hr construction job.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Sorry so late here.....ROOOOLLLLL TIDE!!!
DJ (Cleveland)
Roadfield advantage? Oh my gosh...
Matt (Bronx)
I personally just dont like how Athletes come out with these sort of storys once they've retierd there was no reason to realease this information it doesnt effect him or the game of tennis
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
I'm not buying him not liking tennis though. With his fame and fortune he could have done anything else but he continued to play tennis.
DJ (Cleveland)
I have a lot of respect for Andre Agassi. People need to lay off
dana (11:34 AM)
franc i may have missed something but the outrage over agassi seems to be about the meth use not that he hated tennis
joe (rockford il)
look at the success philly has had with mcnabb and untill this year other than to he has had no wr to throw to
John (Maryland)
Agassi didn't have to go public. If he wanted to talk to someone he could have gone to see a therapist. He is just making it public to sell his book.
Reischea (11:35 AM)
Let me ask those who say they don't buy Andre hating tennis. How many people have we heard, or read about or know that stay in marriages they don't want to be a part of, perhaps never did but in their minds had to?
lawrence (stowe vt)
I would like to know what Andre didnt like about being with Brooke sheilds
Chad (Las Vegas)
Dain (Iowa City) is taking Meth if he thinks Brees is the 7th best QB in the league. Mad at what he did to Iowa while at Purdue still?
dana (11:35 AM)
john, he wants to make money...he's human. He's telling a story people are interested in, his life story. At least he's being honest at this point....so we believe.
joe (rockford il)
how many ppl hate their jobs but still go to work everyday because they like a paycheck...... a lot of people so whats so diff about him the only diff is he played tennis
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Dain, you are "Insane Dain" if you consider Big Ben the 10th best QB in the NFL.
dana (11:36 AM)
well put joe
john (panama city bch, fl.)
Dain... DON'T pass me YOUR Kool-Aid!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Property values in Vegas have plummetted. Agassi needs to make some money.
Umor (Detroit)
We gotta read the book I guess. This Aggassi half story isn't gonna work.
RJ (Boston)
Go get 'em Reisch. I'm in your corner on this one. Honesty and taking ownership of one's problem should be commended... not met with disdain. He is doing more good by opening up than a lot of regular abusers are doing to their families by denying to this day that they have a problem.
dana (11:36 AM)
lawrence, he wasn't in love with her...happens
James (Denver)
Skip contradicts himself so much on players he loves and hates . He will argue with you all day Micheal Vick isnt a good NFL QB because he is a run first QB . Then he will debate how Tim Tebow is going to be a great NFL QB and should be the number 1 pick in the draft .
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Its all about selling books, funny how it came out just before the release of his book
Matt (Bronx)
exactly why make it public i doubt if he even took not accusing him of a liar just i think its all abit publicity for a book sale...when there is no need to bring this up
Joey (rutland VT)
Joey in texas did it hurt when they nailed u to the cross, cause as far as I know only CHRIST was perfect!!!!
Jon (Washington)
mari peyton has just as many tds and ints and brady, but he has two more wins and more yards to more people
Andrew (Boston)
Will the Giants look to get another WideReceiver in next year's draft??
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
The Saints defense the last few weeks hasn't been that good. They have given up huge numbers and points.
John (Maryland)
I'd rather have Phillip Rivers as my QB. He has the fire and arm strength. If the Giants hadn't traded him away, he'd have more rings than Eli. I dare someone to tell me I'm wrong.
Reischea (11:37 AM)
tennis is what he knew and what he was good at, for better or worse...
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Meth is HORRIBLE! YES! but the guy must have been going through some stuff to do meth. give the guy a break! he's human
dana (11:37 AM)
bengal bill it came out b/c of the book. it's a part of the book. he made mistakes, he's human.
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
WANT 2 START SUMTIN....JAY
willie (topeka basement)
i agree dana id be concerned he was able to get off w those lame escuses for c meth in system
Guy (Jacksonville)
I hate tennis and I'm not on drugs.
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Exactly Reischea. Being a USTA player myself, it's getting quite aggravating hearing the higher-ups bash him. He lied to the ATP, but in the period of time afterward during the period he would have likely been suspended, he didn't win very much. It was the lull in his career. Agassi is ultra concerned about philanthropy, so it's not like he's a bad person for doing Meth for a brief period of time. Look at Josh Hamilton, he's a hero for getting sober. Why wasn't Agassi a hero for getting sober after meth?
Roller (Kentucky)
Its hard to belive that Big Ben went 10 spots lower in the draft than Eli
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
There is no such thing as a great qb without a great o line
RJ (Boston)
Saying the Big Ben is on par with Manning or Brady is like saying that Phil Simms and/or Boomer Esiason were on par with Montana and Elway and Marino. Just no merit to it.
Demetric (Orlando)
Drew Brees shouldn't be in the same sentence, headline or even poster of Peyton Manning
Andrew (Boston)
Dana- Andre Agassi owes his dad , a debt of gratitude for pushing his son towards Tennis, because of that he has made a living for himself and met his wife. Agassi needs to be greatful for what he has.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
AI isnt done.
joe (rockford il)
i agree with that brady and manning are the best out there but u also have to put mcnabb in the picture to and im a dallas fan sayin that
mari (ok)
o0o i didnt know that monday night games were subject to blackout...that sux
Matt (NY)
Payton and Brady are the QB's of this decade but what about next . Flacco and Sanchez the new payton and brady?
Guy (Jacksonville)
NO should have lost to Atlanta, they will show thier true colors way-before the playoffs.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Dana, best wishes to your brother Mark not just on Veterans day but all the time overseas...godspeed
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
Wait dont post my AI coment
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
You can't hate on Agassi for hating tennis. How many people do we know that work jobs they hate just because they're good at it?
Matt (Bronx)
although u wouldnt see federer or nadal taking such things that would tarniss there career if they came out with it now but for agassi its alright:S
dana (11:38 AM)
matt, he said the other night the only way he agreed to do a book was to tell the real story. I give him credit for that. When you make mistakes it's hard to forgive yourself sometimes, part of that forgiveness for him probably came with admitting what he'd done publicly and this was a way to do that. Man, the guy was unhappy and depressed and found an escape. People do that every day. His he even admitted was a wrong one to make. Again, he's human.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
dana not knocking him dont care if he used lots of people do
Jonathan (ATL)
AI wants to get out of his contract with the Grizzles.....they'll release him and he'll sign with another as a backup midseason when someone gets hurts and a team needs a shooter.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Shane Reid (NC)-the Saints have had major injuries on the D line and at LB. Those players will be back before the end of the season.
Adam G. (Tampa, FL)
AI = Always an Idiot on the bball court
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
I think Colts can win, but it will be from an unlikely source....the run game. Addai has picked up where Brown left off and the Edge before him. Pat's run game is a lil suspect with only Maroney and Faulk left. Colts win by keeping Brady sitting pretty on the bench.
Roller (Kentucky)
I wonder if the Giants and Chargers sit back and regret not taking big Ben?? Dude is the best qb in that draft!!
dana (11:39 AM)
and how much money did the atp make off him during that time. i have to believe none of them wanted his postiive test to be real.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Honesty and taking ownership would have been to accept suspension for drug use. Not disclosing it a decade later. When you are a kid it's understandable your parents push you. But he was an adult doing his own thing. He says he played Tennis because he was made to. Did his father make him use drugs also.?
Reischea (11:40 AM)
I think he is gratefeul for what he has, that's why he does the philanthropic work that he does. That's why he started a charter school. Look, I'm not trying to make him a Saint, he's not. None of us are.
dana (11:40 AM)
shane have you ever told a lie? of course it would have been the best way for him to accept the suspension then, he was in the midst of using.... come on, he blames no one for his drug use but himself. how about realizing once again, just b/c you have money and fame doesn't mean you're happy.
Matt (Bronx)
so publicising your book with drug use is right?
dana (11:42 AM)
matt, the media is taking the most intersting part and blowing that up. It's what happens. It makes people watch shows and talk about it, and yes it's about money and ratings. He's putting it out there, the public either chooses to buy it or not. His image has taken a hit...where's the good in that? what does he gain from that?
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
I've had a tough life was on my own at 15 but the decisions I made in life were my own and I'm not going to blame my absent mother or anything else for my actions. That's what being an adult is all about.
Reischea (11:43 AM)
Different and CLEARLY tougher governing body when Martina Hingis tested positive. Look, him lying to ATP and getting away with it, inexcusable, but it happened. He avoided a mass amount of scrutiny, I get that, but to say he should give back his earnings, that's ridiculous. I'm glad he's shattering his own image to prove guess what, I am not the perfect person I led you to believe.... I like Andre even more today. I'm glad he got through his ugly meth use, this story could be completely different if he didn't.
dana (11:43 AM)
Shane, if you saw the katie couric interview i didn't hear him BLAME anyone. He said his dad made him play and it was his part in his family, unfair or not. I actually was surprised there was no blame, he just said he didn't like tennis. I'm ok with that
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
I don't know Andre...and he certainly had nothing to gain by revealing this...it does explain his fall from the top level of tennis...burnout, combined with self loathing and drug use...says alot for his character to come back to the top...
RJ (Boston)
To everyone (including myself) defending Agassi's disdain for tennis... were you in the same camp when Ricky Williams tried to walk away from football for the same reasons?Me, yes... I loved Ricky's courage for admitting that.
dana (11:44 AM)
RJ, yes. I think it's very easy for everyone to sit here and say how are you not happy making millions. It doesn't make you happy. You only see one side from your tv
Matt (Bronx)
Well in that case Amy winehouse should release a book that'll sell by the Millions if that what agassi thought!
dana (11:46 AM)
matt i think you're making a weird connection. The reason it was such a big deal with agassi is that it was unexpected. He blemished his image. Winehouse you'd buy for the stories quite likely...but a very different reason.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
He blamed his father for making him play tennis. Why didn't he stop playing when he was an adult. I said I just don't buy the whole I never liked tennis thing. It would be like Michael Jackson saying I don't like to make music. Sounds crazy doesn't it?
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
I think that Agassi hates tennis because it thrust him into a spotlight I'm sure he never wanted. If it was simply hating the game, he would have told his father no.
dana (11:47 AM)
shane, I buy it completely. Why didn't he quit? what else was this hs dropout going to do? He had to make the choice on his own to stay with it and he did.
john (panama city bch, fl.)
dana, you've ALWAYS been a proponent of the fact that athlete's are human- and should NOT be held to a higher standard- that WE, as parents should take responsibility for our kids heroes...But you Must acknowledge that with visibility through the media, friends, etc.- athletes MUST be held responsible for BREAKING THE L A W !!! We have to teach our children respect of the LAW at EVERY level!!!
Umor (Detroit)
Didn't Watch Seasame Street as a Kid, Use to watch " The Friendly Giant and Mr' Dressup" what the heck was Casey
Roller (Kentucky)
The money would be nice that these guys make but we as the public don't see everything and we shouldn't judge cause they are human.
mari (ok)
its amazing the vitiol here for agassi and pippen and all these people that actually give us something to sit here and talk about...people we are here because we love sports and while some players/athletes may be huge glutius openings we are here nonetheless because we love sports..so stop all the hating for 30 seconds....then we vcan go back to hating the yankees...lol a joke a joke...btw i would love to have dana and jays job..sadly i have a face for radio
Demetric (Orlando)
I don't think Agassi is hurting for money, so why not come out without the book and aware people the dangers of meth. An excellent time would have been Jermey Mayfeild was struggling
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
yea, what in the world has amy winehouse accomplished? horrible comparison
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
I think once we get through the whole "OOOOH CRYSTAL METH" phase of the book's backlash, people will see Agassi more or less in the same light they always have, for his achievements and his philanthropy. Regardless of the fact that he briefly used meth, he's helping a number of kids become successful and go to college.
Dain (Iowa City)
i'm really good at math, yet i hate it but have chosen an economics major for the money (i like the theory though). go ahead guys say what you will....oh wait you probably don't care or maybe are doing the same thing
Marc (Charlotte)
I'm sure the millions he gets from selling his book will make it easier to deal with.
lawrence (stowe vt)
Andre's story is one of being on top of the tennis world, falling to where he did and making it back to #1 in the world. To me that speaks on the type of person he wanted to be, and is, not who he was thru a rough time in his life
John (Maryland)
I don't buy the idea that his daddy made him play. A man has to make a living and he did his job well. Don't tell me you gonna stop doing what gave you a lavish lifestyle.
dana (11:49 AM)
John fact is though, life isn't fair. Of course you teach your children to respect the law but that doesn't mean that everyone who breaks the law gets caught. You also teach your children that they shouldn't jump off a bridge just b/c everyone else is...some things get through others don't.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Snuffleufugus (sp) was AWESOME!
Tim (Central Florida)
Shane, did you like going to school?Probably not.So why didn't you drop out. Were your parents making you go?
Matt (Bronx)
John, exactly as a role modal of mine at the time i now feel like i was supporting a drug user, and when u look at todays tennis so much better
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
If athletes are not to be held to a higher standard, then they should not be showered with privilege and riches either.
Jonathan (ATL)
Dana, Andre does gain one thing from revealing this.....book sales. I'm sure his book is doing pretty well right now on the NY Times best seller list.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
people who say money does not equate to happiness have probaly never been poor
mike randle (chicago il)
Dana and of course Big bird you are the nicest one there
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
After Agassi was famous and had the millions and was an adult he continued to play tennis. Doesn't make sense when you are a rich adult and you continue to do things you don't like.
Guy (Jacksonville)
I dont think this story has the impact it may otherwise would, not during NBA kick-off week, post World Series and football season in high-gear. Lets face-it tennis, bowling and pro-bass fishing human interst stories...aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Roller (Kentucky)
Man, AI was the best pound for pound player in the NBA for a long time, he took a beating everynight to be as small as he was and he was good whether people want to admit that or not but I think he is done now cause of his age and injuries.
dana (11:50 AM)
Jason, tell owners that. And the only way to do that is stop buying tickets to games/ matches. NEver going to happen.
Demetric (Orlando)
I'm sorry but I don't feel sorry for A.I. he was the one to sign the deal to the Grizzlys, he had other teams that wanted his service where he would have been a starter.....Bobcats anyone
John (Maryland)
Okay, the guy is human but its pathetic, to me, that you have to come out with drug use to sell a damn book. He should have came out with it years ago instead of waiting til his tell all book was out.
mike randle (chicago il)
jay you remind me of ernie i can see you just carrying a rubber ducky around
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Dana, his days of marketing himself as a product are long over. He loses nothing by taking an image hit now. He does, however, gain a large royalty check for book sales.
dana (11:50 AM)
jonathan, i already said that. But i dont think they're hurting for money and the book would have sold even without that revelation.
Matt (Bronx)
no comparison with amy and andre obviously!!! just if he wants to promote a book with drug use and everyone goes mad then amy winehouse book would hit the roof
Guy (Jacksonville)
Somebody help fix my Browns!!!
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Agassi didn't come out and say I USED DRUGS... someone read a draft and published it in a tabloid. He didn't push the whole meth thing out there.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
agassi dont need the money! the guy gives to many charities and does a lot for unfortunate kids
Joey (rutland VT)
Sunny day wishing the clouds away on my way to where the air is sweet can u tell me how to get how to get to SEASAME STREET!!!! My fav charchter on show is the COUNT 27,27 world series tiles HAHAHAHAHA
Matt (Bronx)
browns need to sign lebron!
Roller (Kentucky)
OSCAR THE GROUCH was the coolest!!
Matt (Bronx)
the book would of never of sold without that!!!! no1 wants to read about a tennis player honest truth but now with the drug using!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Famous people, including athletes, should be used for teaching your kids lessons; both good and bad. They should not be their role models. Do your job as a parent and don't depend on TV or a teacher to raise your child.
dana (11:52 AM)
bengal bill, money can make life easier. it does not make you happy.
mike randle (chicago il)
and skip you have to be oscar cause you u like to talk trash
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
Who's amy whinehouse???? sports related???
Dave (Tallahassee, FL)
I thought they did fix the Browns, oh wait they did, they moved to Baltimore.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
the count was a pimp!
Dain (Iowa City)
Browns need to relocate...
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
this is a great marketing strategy. look how much interest this has generated and how many people who will buy the book that wold not have originally
john (panama city bch, fl.)
dana- would you GLAMORIZE or RATIONALIZE a person of celebrity jumpimg off of a bridge? N O ! ! ! You USE it to teach your children a lesson. Oh, and btw- life IS fair.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Maybe now that Agassi has admitted to his drug use, he can move on mentally. Who are we to criticize him?
Reischea (11:53 AM)
So many are angry that he wrote this book and included his meth use in it... I say, why write an autobigraphy if you aren't going to tell your story for real?
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
I didn't have any parents by the time I was 15 but I graduated from high school because I made a choice in my life.
lawrence (stowe vt)
Matt in bronx I hope you are not a yankee fan then...
Tim (Central Florida)
What about the weave mullet. That's a pretty shocking, honest revelation.
Jason (Morgantown, WV)
Skip was already 17 when Sesame Street first came on. This should be interesting.
Roller (Kentucky)
Dana, who was your favorite?
Jonathan (ATL)
My bad, Dana...agreed but I'm sure its doing much better as a result of the confession then if it was omitted. Omitted and its just another sports autobiography.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Chad: American parents have used every celebrity and product to substitute for parenting
Chad (Las Vegas)
I don't care what you do for a living. Being a parent is the most IMPORTANT job you will ever have.
joe (rockford il)
well said chad
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
who said life is fair? Life is NOT fair!!!
dana (11:54 AM)
john, who's glamourizing his drug use? If a celebrity jumped off a bridge b/c he was depressed i'd tell my kids that. And if life is fair in your world, congratualations.
Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)
Money makes it easier for you to do the things you like to do. When he was a kid I'll buy that. Guy was playing tennis into his 30's. What was he playing for then?
Hook (Southern Maryland)
The Stu's are Bert and Ernie.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Maybe after the jags move to LA the Browns can move to Jax-sell out and be on local tv?
Chad (Las Vegas)
JAX will relocate before the Browns do.
Charles Barkley (TNT)
I don't want to raise your damn kids
Africa (Brooklyn)
Parents need ratings agencies to tell them what video games and movies their kids can watch. How about telling them GTA and Harry Potter aren't real?
Alex (Marlborough, MA)
Exactly Reisch. Maybe the purpose of the book was to exorcise his demons. Many may not agree with doing it in the public forum, but who are we to criticize a man for telling the truth(in this instance)?
Andrew (Boston)
dana- If your a parent , and you see potential in your child and you see your child as gifted Tennis player of course your going to push your kid hard at Tennis . I just find his comments toward his dad ungreatful
dana (11:57 AM)
andrew this wasn't just "pushing"his dad started this b/f andre was like 5, his dad loved tennis. i took his comments a different way, not ungrateful just honest and real.
dana (12:03 PM)
see ya folks
Reischea (12:08 PM)
Take Care Nation... Just finished chatting with some visiting Marines and it just reiterated how thankful I am that they and all the legs of our armed services are fighting for us. Talk more tomorrow guys...
