Jimmy (Nashville, Tn.)
Good morning everyone, A special thanks to all you veterans for what you do for your country. We are very proud of you!
Guy (Jacksonville)
To all the New-York sports fans thinking James is going to play for your dreadful team, I deadicate this Rolling Stones song, "you can't always get what you want...".
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Skip, are you ready for CAPE MAY? Don't let them put you through Boot Camp!
Guy (Jacksonville)
Oh-yeah, sorry, goodmorning...
Frank Heller (Monmouth,OR)
Is USC being ranked on past reputation vs reality. They are behind Oregon in the PAC 10 standings and were humilated by the Ducks head to head. Is the BCS ever going to Give Oregon some respct.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)

Reischea (10:07 AM)
Morning Nation. First and Foremost, a salute of honor to the many men and women who have served and serve our Country. Those who have fallen are also not to be forgotten. Your service is greatly appreciated, your courage is unmatched. I thank you for all you do to maintain the very freedom we enjoy which in no joking manner includes this chat room. You are all true HEROES.
stacy (georgetown)
hey jay.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Whats up with Skip's suit?
Umor (Detroit)
Were the Refs calling finger tips, Thats why the shot didn't count.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Colts need this game at Sunday night...Home field in the playoffs will give them a much better chance in the playoffs vs. New England, Pittsburgh, etc.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
yeah I forgot it was veterans day - its a shame we dont make a bigger deal out of it - you should be able to forget its veterans day
Chance Baker (North Carolina)
I cant stand skip but when i heard him talking about Lebron James today. I was like wow this guy has finally made sense.I had to watch it twice to make sure. But i agree with you.He dont think he can do it by himself. He wants the easy way out.I mean you never heard Kobe say he wanted to go in D-Wade or Tim Duncan when he got down and couldnt do it after shaq left.
Jason (VA)
good morning first and ten crew
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
A big thank you to all service men and women who are currently serving and to all veterans. You are the hero's of America.
Chris (SC)
Man Troy Brown I hate to say it but this guy is a phony. He doesn't even come to his hometown here in Barnwell SC where his on mom still stays at. And we showed him so much love here and he just spits in our face
Umor (Detroit)
Dana got crowd control.
Reischea (10:10 AM)
Skills Umor, pure skills!
Jason (VA)
Thank you cory
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
I want to see that drill sargent battle Skip, cuz he's already wasted 5 seconds!
Spencer (South Carolina)
Skip can C.J spiller get some love from you for heisman?
Guy (Jacksonville)
Come-on, it is way to early to talk about the Saints going undefeated, they will show thier true colors way before the end of the season
nick (ohio)
has anyone the new throwback uniforms nike has unveiled for some college teams?
Brian (SoCal)
Skip, drop and give us 50.
Jon (Hartsville)
there is nothing wrong with him saying he would want to be on a team with d-wade or any other star
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
I meant you shouldnt be able to forget its veterans day - my big bro's a vet so its his day I think i'm gonna call him up after I get out of this boring class - sorry bout the typo people
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
nice dana pulling the mom on the coast gaurd
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
sign Dana up to be a DI
Jason (VA)
thank you first and 10 for the vet salute thank you
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
yea skip under estimate peyton manning you are wrong again
Jon (Hartsville)
Bengals vs Saints in the superbowl (i really hate saying that but it's true)
Umor (Detroit)
Hope My brother relaxes this Veteran day. And My Nephew friends that are back from Iraq.
Chris Johnson (WV)
I believe with the wildcat offense on the rise in the NFL that Micheal Vick would be a better fit in Carolina's offense with Williams and Stewart.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
thank u Jon
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
How do you pick against Peyton Manning at home? How do you pick against Tom Brady period? History tells us that the Colts win at home. So I'm going Colts win 34-31.
Reischea (10:13 AM)
Nice, Coast Guard backing Peyton Manning and the Colts!
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
the troops know!!!
Guy (Jacksonville)
Skip needs to show some love to the Cavs, tonight he and all doubters will see why Shaq was picked up by the Cavs, oh...and change the suit!
James (Denver)
That was terrible officiating at the end of the Nuggets Bulls game last night . The refs blew sveral calls . First they called a shooting foul on Chauncwy Billups when he clearly fouled Rose on the floor by the free throw line . Then with .6 seconds left Chauceu intentionally misses a free throw and they claim it only takes .3 seconds to secure the rebound and call a time out . Then the Bulls committ a odvious offensive foul to free up Brad Miller and he hits a shot that is clearly still on his fingertips when time expires and it takes them 10 minutes to decide if its good or not .
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Howard is going to run circles around Shaq tonite
Umor (Detroit)
Alot of Indy Fans in the coast guard.
Brian (SoCal)
colts will get it done at home. Peyton throws a late TD to win it.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I agree james, i'm a bulls fan but at the end they got it right
RJ (Boston)
I'm starting to think the Wildcat really is just a gimmick. Everybody stutters over Brown taking the direct snap... but really if a normal QB (who can run) takes the snap, what's the difference of any other play. You never really know if he's gonna hand off, run or throw anyway. It's all the same.. read it and get to it.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
I wanna say the Lakers would be the best destination for Allen Iverson - believe me if it's got a ring involved hell ride the pine for the greater good - plus AI and Odom coming of the bench would be practically unfair
Reischea (10:16 AM)
Perhaps ten minutes was a touch long on the review, but I can understand them taking their time... it was close from when I saw it, like them, in a tiny monitor. Difficult to tell, but they got the call right.
Demetric (Orlando)
I'm sick and tired of people comparing Tom "system" Brady to the Great Peyton Manning, Brady cant lace Peyton cleets
Umor (Detroit)
So James we're counting Fingertips on the ball. How can you see a finger tip?
Mark (WI)
Colts need all the love they can get
Demetric (Orlando)
Hey, lay off the coast guard, they're out there every day protecting us from Godzilla
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
takin P.manning
Jason (VA)
peyton manning of course
Jason (VA)
colts will win yes
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Great point Spencer..C.J. Spiller is from here in Jacksonville...Over 600 yards total offense in 2 games against FSU and Miami...Heisman is a QB popularity contest...it doesn't identify the best player
Jon (Hartsville)
thanks for what?
Dwayne Lockhart (Cincy,Oh)
My wife and i watched the entire bulls nuggets game last night and we don't understand why they(the refs) only had 2 camera angles to review from in a stadium that obviously has a lot more cameras in it,i thought brads shot was good just like the original call at the end of the game.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Franc (Kennesaw GA) I agree, Shaq is washed up and I hate to say it
john (panama city bch, fl)
It's a pity that it takes a tragedy like 9/11 to remind Americans about BIG words like- HEROES, BRAVERY, HONOR, SACRIFICE, NEIGHBOR, etc. It SURE feels good hearing them,though...Thanks to ALL of our Brave WARRIORS in ALL branches of the Military AND Support Staff!
Mark (Ann Arbor)
AI to the Lakers? There are not enough shots to go around in LA as it is. Throw Iverson in the mix and that team my explode into a mess
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
A.I. - Always Irritable
Jon (Hartsville)
Anderson Varejao and Big Z for Mehmet Okur
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
i dont mind that shaq is playing still but people need to stop talking about him like he's still in his prime
Dewane (Oceanside, CA)
You can't compare Brady to Manning cause Manning has a brand new head coach and still produces the same outcome. If Big Bill was gone do you think Brady would have the same success?
RJ (Boston)
Man Demetric... you have been wrong on just about every comment you've made this week. It's really quite pathetic.Brady and Manning are the two best QB's of this generation... both are great readers and excutioner. Their reg season stats are almost identical over their careers... and Brady's stats in the playoffs are actually MUCH better than Mannings. You have now been served. Have a coke and a smile and Shut it!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Lets not forget the fireman and police officers who lost their lives on 9/11 they were put on the for front of a war no one saw coming
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
James, call David Stern...I think you could be a great ref...I just wouldn't let you call Lakers/Nuggets in the Western finals...to big a fan
john (panama city bch, fl)
BTW, Morning Mod, Reis, dana, jay...and Stacy-lol
stacy (georgetown)
hey john in florida how are you?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
manning is going to go down in history as the better quarterback
Demetric (Orlando)
A.I. in Cleveland would be a good fit, Lebrick can't shoot so he needs to pass the ball to someone who can
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
good point jon!
Jon (Hartsville)
no shaq is not the reason they are losing. it sounds crazy but losing john kuester is!
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
BRADY/MANNING Even $$$$$ in vegas
Brian (SoCal)
Lakers do NOT need or want AI. If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
Brian (SoCal)
both are great, I think Manning has had more control of the offense over his carreer.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Did someone call Brady a system quarterback? The guy won 3 superbowls and the best receiver he had during that time was Troy Brown.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Jon Ritchie, Tell Skip Brady would not have had his first ring had it not been for the "tuck rule" call against your Raiders
Jonathan (ATL)
Skip might need to call in the Marines, if they'll help him...he's in hostile territory down there in Cape May
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
I think John might have bribed the judges, check their pockets.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
manning vs. brady is like comparing magic and bird in their prime
Brian (SoCal)
Have to say Brady has had the better carreer. Rings don't lie.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Hot Dog, Hot Dog- CHILI, CHILI (insert Gaelic phrase here)
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
Skip made a good point about the missed interception.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
colts pats game going to come down to execution and turn overs
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Sadly, mod, I do not DVR. I have no idea how to do it and am not even sure my TV has the capabilities. I'm actually off today so I'll watch a bit of the show before spending some quality time with my girls.
wes (Soddy Daisy,TN)
Hey Jay,who you got in the georgia vs auburn? it is in athens..
terry (virginia)
brady had good years from help of spy-gate
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Brian (SoCal) great quote bro but believe me AI of the bench means the scoring wouldn't stop even with Kobe on the bench
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
peyton is great but one superbowl over rex grossman just doesn't cut it....only time he could beat the gators too lol...Brady is DA MAN!!!!
RJ (Boston)
Franc,That's the same comparison the local radio jocks made this week... Manning-Brady = Bird-Johnson
Tim (Central Florida)
Skip is full of ifs and buts.
Dave (so calif)
And goody two shoes brady lost the superbowl with Moss one of the greatest receviers so what?
Jon (Hartsville)
A.I to charlotte is a perfect fit for him charlotte needs a scorer and larry brown knows a.i more than any coach in the nba
Umor (Detroit)
Manning is Fun to Watch coming down the field. Brady Looks like he just ready to kick butt down the field in the two minute drive.
Brian (SoCal)
Peyton to advertise if speaking required. Brady just for print ads.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
brady had great defenses too
stacy (georgetown)
john in florida you are goofy and who is going to win this weekend? i want georgia? what you think?
THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))
In the playoffs, can the Colts/Patriots beat the reigning SuperBowl Champions?
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Brian (SoCal) great quote bro but believe me AI of the bench means the scoring wouldn't stop even with Kobe on the bench
Demetric (Orlando)
Mark, maybe I need to school you like I did RJ yesterday, let's remember history not revise it. A player who hadn't started snice high school took the Pats to 11-5. (that's a heck of a system) Had Cassel been Manning's back-up and Peyton went down, theres no way the Colts win 11 games.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Brian (SoCal) great quote bro but believe me AI of the bench means the scoring wouldn't stop even with Kobe on the bench
RJ (Boston)
Brady is 3 and 1 in Super Bowls. Manning 1 and 0.talk to me when he plays 3 more.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Manning is way-better then Brady, he has had less talent around him and still accomplishes more.
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
Personally I think A.I. was always a bit overrated. His skills were never quite up to the hype and he was a distraction almost everywhere he went.
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
at least peyton and us did'nt win the super bowl off spy-gate.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
manning or brady? magic or bird? its a win win. I'll roll the dice and take either
Mark (Ann Arbor)
AI off the bench would be a disaster for LA. I can't believe the Lakers would even consider that because they wouldn't.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Anybody notice that Bill Belicheat is the ONLY coach that doesn't cover his mouth to keep opponents from reading his lips, hmmmm
Cedric (Memphis)
Good Morning First Take Team and mod. It's been a while. The shot was good, big games this weekend and am I the only one who thinks the only Thursday NFL should be thanksgiving day!
Tim (Central Florida)
Peyton Manning isn't full of himself like Brady.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
At this point I gotta take Manning as the better qb, he's basically a sergon on the field. But I have to take Brady's career. I mean 3 Super Bowl rings is up there with the greats of all time.
chris (indianapolis)
being from indy i would also have to put big ben in conversation.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
AI is done now, but as his prime he was never overrated. Come on who did he play with in Philly
Billy (WV.)
thanks to all our troops and veterans for there service to our great country
Guy (Jacksonville)
Bears are you missing Orton yet?
Brian (SoCal)
I just do not think that AI will have the discipline to play in the triangle. Plus the chemistry question. too much downside.
Jrice (Spartanburg,SC)
Thank you to all the men and women who serve our country proudly. You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
maurice (rockaway beach, ny) dude there's no way you can say Brady is better then Payton - Brady is a system QB, Payton is the system think about it
terry (virginia)
brady with a *** by his name
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
skip better be carefull today if while on vacation at the beach and gets swept out to sea and his water wings deflate the coast gaurd might leave him there
J.B. (Dunmore, PA)
I think we've reached the point where the Lions playing on Thanksgiving should go away. Let's get some better football teams playing on Turkey Day.
Jonathan (ATL)
Guy, I wouldn't be pumping up the skills of Kyle Orton......he really looks like he's returning to his old ways
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Moss has better hands than Wayne, but Wayne is younger, speed probably a tie at this point. Welker is faster than Clarke, both have injury problems. One game gotta take Moss and Welker. Next five years I'll take Wayne and Clarke.
Brian (SoCal)
They should have just went rock, paper scissors to determine the game.
James (Denver)
Go buy a HD tv Umar you can clearly see his finger tips still on the ball dude .
ed (delaware)
give peyton a defense like new englands and bradys success would be limited
Jon (Hartsville)
A.I has said if they were winnig he would have no problem with it! but is memphis winning? uh no. are the lakers winning? yes
RJ (Boston)
System Quarterback???You guys are loco. Brady is like Montana... you can't break his nerve. Manning was broken by the Pats D in multiple playoff games early on... You guys are straight crazy with this "system qb" stuff. The guy's excellent...
Reischea (10:32 AM)
Yeah, I am really over everybody's system qrtrback argument. Bottom line.... Every great qrtrback was a part of a great system (including Joe Montana).... get over it!
Reischea (10:32 AM)
Fort Hood, so very sad. Why does stuff like this happen?
Brian (SoCal)
Sad to see that those soldiers were subjected to an attack on home soil where they should be safe. AMRY is tough , and they will move forward.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Thoughts and prayers for all at Cape Hood and especially the families of the deceased...certainly puts sports in perspective...Thanks, Jay
Umor (Detroit)
Why do Y'all sat Peyton doesn't have any talent. Reggie Wayne a chump or something. He got weapons.
Demetric (Orlando)
RJ, two-words for ya....Matt Cassel
john (panama city bch, fl)
RJ- He Still LOOKS scared to me.
Cedric (Memphis)
Despite what local sportswriters and media say, The majority of fans in Memphis want Iverson on the floor.
ed (delaware)
his nerve was broken when his leg was hurt
stacy (georgetown)
but guys...mannning will not go to the post season?
terry (virginia)
all of you are wrong, big ben, holmes and ward is the best in the league
Jon (Hartsville)
whoops spell error
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
but didn't brady break peyton's single season td record?....
mike m (canton,oh)
if brady is a system qb then that would mean derek anderson could play for the pats and they would of still won 3 rings and he would put up crazy stats like brady did...i dont think so
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
The offensive line makes a great quarterback can't throw the ball from your back
Cedric (Memphis)
Reischea, Don't get me wrong when I say this, but everything happens for a reason. Whether we like it or not, or we want it to happen, things are meant to happen or they wouldn't. We just have to find the lesson in it and learn.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
mike m (canton,oh) dude a QB that hasn't started since High school won 11 games with the pats - ITS THE SYSTEM BRO!!! (can you say mat cassell???)
mike m (canton,oh)
bradys not a system qb hes a qb who made the system
Guy (Jacksonville)
Cavs 110 Orlando 98 Skip take that!
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
happy V-day all
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Coast Guard had a huge impact during the aftermath of Katrina...saved many lives
Sporttown (Indianapolis)
glad for you jay..good piece on your nephew thank God he's safe.
Jon (Hartsville)
Matt cassel is part of a bad team with only one good recievier a bad offensive line and a bad head coach!
mike m (canton,oh)
saying tom bradys success is beacuse of the system he runs is like sayin michael jordan or kobe bryant only won beacuse of phil jackson triangle offense
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Jon (Hartsville) I'm not dissing Cassell I just used him as an example
Mark (WI)
Do we have to talk about Green Bay??
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
jon (hartsville) who's matt cassels good reciever?
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
The only way to truley tell who is better manning or brady is let both of them play one game with the browns and see who wins the game
Africa (Brooklyn)
wuts good with the chat?
Umor (Detroit)
The Packers aren't Done, They can still be a wildcard team from the NFC, Need to protect Rogers alot better in order do it.
Guy (Jacksonville)
Packers are done, getting rid of Farve big mistake! Greenbay defense is a nightmare! Minn. in superbowl, Farve MVP...Packers front office needs cleaned out.
Africa (Brooklyn)
Wait, Magic doesn't play Cavs til tonite.....I'm taking Orlando, Dwight Howard 22 pts, 12 rebs
Jrice (Spartanburg,SC)
I am proud to be an American but this Fort Hood incident is a blow to our countries integrity. Thankfully we as a nation are collectively pulling together in support of all the families affected by this tragedy.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Touching story of USCG Flight 1705- WELL-TOLD and HEARTFELT- I hadn't heard of it,but will Remember them in my prayers tonight!
Kevin (Michigan)
Well if Brady is a system quarterback....Manning needs a better system to win more rings then!!!
Brian (SoCal)
Packers are hanging by a thread. Boys are looking better right now.
Jonathan (ATL)
I know this down will be tough for Skip since it talks about his beloved Cowboys versus his infacuation with the Packers
Tim (Central Florida)
The Pack better find some urgency because they didn't have it against the Bucs.
Cedric (Memphis)
Packers will beat the Cowboys this weekend
James (Denver)
Last night Carmelo Anthony became the 2nd youngest player to score 11,000 points in his career . It doesnt even get mentioned by ESPN . When Lebro became the youngest it was a headline story . I know Carmelo will never be viwed by most to be on Lebrons level but Carmelo is quietly having a Hall of Fame career in Denver .
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Echo Reischea's statement, every qb is a system qb. Either the system works or it doesn't. Either way it's a educated plan and philosophy that is communicated and coached from a head coach or offensive coordinatior. Some work, some don't. Some win Super Bowls, some get you ran out of the job before the season starts, either way its a system.
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Should Mike McCarthy be run out of town if he doesn't make the playoffs. Personally I think that Ted Thompson should go!!!
ed (delaware)
umor - got a fork
Africa (Brooklyn)
Getting rid of the Favre was a mistake? It's the line and defense that sucks
stacy (georgetown)
you guys are crazy.........
Mark (Ann Arbor)
The Packers offensive line has been bad. But Aaron Rodgers does hang onto the ball for a longtime and brings some of those sacks on himself.
Kevin (Michigan)
Don't put Manning and Brady with the Browns.....put them each for a season with the Lions and we will find out who is better
Reischea (10:46 AM)
I rarely do this, but I'ma go there right now: Skip is trying to hypnotize us to his side of arguments with that shirt today.
Kevin (Michigan)
Bottom line on Brady and Manning, who cares who is better, let's enjoy them while we have both, they'll be gone soon and we'll be stuck without two all time greats!!
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Kevin - atleast the Lions have Calvin Johnson and kevin Smith, who do the Browns have? Josh Cribbs!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I agree james. The media is hyping LeBron! To ME Carmello had a better playoffs last year than LeBron
Mark (WI)
Ted has got to go !
Africa (Brooklyn)
it has nothing to do with getting of NFL Diva #4
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
JOHN/FL. I'M WITH YOU........
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Nobody is "done" halfway through the season...10-6 will make the playoffs...don't like their chances this year though
Jonathan (ATL)
No way the Packers make the playoffs. Their back half schedule has at least 3 loses in it and a 9-7 record isn't going to cut it for the playoffs.
mike m (canton,oh)
i bet pack fans wake up and in cold sweats everynight yelling no #4... no
Cory (Lake Jackson, TX)
Skip did you just go against the Cowboys??? John wins, John wins, John wins!!!!! I'm done with you Skip.
willie (basement in topeka)
hello all good morning FIRST OF ALL SORRY IM LATE THIS MORN LOL JUS WANTED TO GIVES THANKS TO ESPN FOR WHAT UR DOING AS AN ARMY VET ITS NICE TO BE APPRECIATED. AND AS FAR AS THE FORT HOOD INCIDENT I HAVE BEEN A LIL AFRAID TO LOOK UP THE CASUALTIES KNOWING I HAVE MANY OLD FRIENDS THERE. HAPPY VETERANS DAY TO ALL MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS PAST AND PRESENT OF ANY SERVICE. HOOOAH!
Cedric (Memphis)
well, now Vernon just caused them to play harder and we will throw screens behind them and they will over pursue. Good job Vernon
Reischea (10:48 AM)
Yeah, Vernon needs to understand what personal edit button means. Trust, even if Bears players didn't read his comments themselves.... they know they were said and they are posted in the lockerroom.
Demetric (Orlando)
Vernon Davis, is just getting his team hyped up...they were on a roll and he is backing it up with a career year...so I like his moxy
Reischea (10:49 AM)
What good does moxy do if your team is on a four game losing skid?
Reischea (10:49 AM)
Play hard, let the action on the field speak for you.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
NFL Power Rankings = Pointless
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
and Tiller dad is retired USN
Cedric (Memphis)
A lot of kids need to take the Kim English approach, coaching would be a lot easier
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
vernon is only speaking the truth...it seems as if he's just trying to give his team confidence......
Dewayne (San Diego,Ca.)
If they are gonna play harder because what someone said then they are not professionals. Boo woo he said it get over it.
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
I love mike anderson teams......his teams press and fly down the court....very entertaining.....
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Love college basketball where every game matters
stacy (georgetown)
guys i mean that green bay has a good shot of going to the playoffs....
Umor (Detroit)
Skip getting some Coast Guard. Jay,Reischea, How are you gonna handle Dana when she comes back. Shes liking that crowd control power.
Tim (Central Florida)
Are you kidding me.Those comments are going to suddenly fix a poor d-line.I don't think so.That's ridiculous.
Africa (Brooklyn)
How is the spread for the Iowa-OSU game 17? I expect the Bucks to win but come on
Cedric (Memphis)
God Bless America and Happy Veterans Day!
Brian (SoCal)
Is it March already?
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
vernon davis's comments show there team has not thrown in the towel and a team with there backs to the wall is a very dangerous team
Kevin (Michigan)
My frustrations with player comments is, the media wants the players to be open and honest....and the first time they say something, the media runs to the other team and prints it. Does anyone really think statements like this are that big of a deal
Reischea (10:58 AM)
giving your team confidence is one thing... singing their praises about what they are capable of doing. Saying no one impresses you on the opposing line, that you'll blow them up is trash talk pure and simple.
Kevin (Michigan)
Being part of Cleveland, I guess if Lebron wants a Championship he needs to move the team to Baltimore!!!
Dan (Chicago)
As a Bears fan, I can honestly say that they probably will blow up our DLine. Added motivation of VD's trash talk or not. Bears defense not very good against the decent offenses around the league. Gore will run wild.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Dana is like Peyton Manning the way she is being the "field general" at Cape May...very impressed!
jay (11:04 AM)
gooooooooood morning room. sorry for the long delay. its been a busy day for me here trying to hold down the fort.
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, you guys should look at doing a live show in studio. Hmmm, maybe that's not a good idea though. The crowd might jump Skip for the insane comments he makes.
Umor (Detroit)
Brady Quinn the Browns QB again. Sugestion for the Browns. There are CFL players availible. Give one f them a chance too this season.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
THe Bears defense has been terrible.
jay (11:05 AM)
that would be fun!
James (Denver)
One thing thats not even being covered in the Vikings great start is half of there defensive line shouldnt even be playing . They should be serving suspensions for failing the NFLs drug test . So the Vikings are cheaters in my eyes .
jay (11:06 AM)
fair point james. but to date the courts seem to be unsure how to handle this whole thing.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jay - i am sorry but ESPN needs to adopt the NBC version of a flex schedule for the Monday night games. Brown vs Ravens? That is one of the worst games of the weekend.
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
mornin jay looks like you got your hands full this fine morning
jay (11:07 AM)
its more difficult due to travel and everything else. but i wish the league would go to it. the late games can be meaningless...i.e. ravens browns.
RJ (Boston)
James, Good point... except that the NFL and (most of) its fans prefer their players roided up. It's sad, but it's true.
Demetric (Orlando)
Jay, I don't know what the budget looks like, but what about a 10 city tour live starting with Orlando
jay (11:07 AM)
we've talked about it....hopefully it will happen!
stacy (georgetown)
hey jay....
jay (11:08 AM)
hey stacy
Dewayne (San Diego,Ca.)
Memo to the Browns. Mike Vick is in Philly. He is better then both QB's you have. Nither one is a starting NFL QB.
Umor (Detroit)
Give the Viking players credit. They know how to work the system.
Brian (SoCal)
In that case James so have the Saints. They had players involved in the Starcaps deal.
Chad (Las Vegas)
So, James (Denver) you take a suplement that contains an illegal substance but that substance isn't on the label. That same substance is not on the banned list of your company. Later you test possitive for this substance. What do you want done to you?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
the browns are back to starting quinn? I'm going to keep my phone close in case the browns call me
Cedric (Memphis)
Just make sure you guys stop somewhere in Tennessee Jay
willie (topeka basement)
shout out to all my ex army buds
Chad (Las Vegas)
It's ESPN....the sky is the limit. They grow money on campus.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Jay, Browns can draft Jimmy Claussen and you can have another ND quarterback to cheer and boo next year...and Charlie Weis may be available to coach...Yea!
Cedric (Memphis)
Jay, can Brady Quinn file some sort of grievance against the Browns? We know they only benched him to keep the bonus he would've gotten for playing 70% of the snaps. Derek Anderson had multiple games of 2 completions!
Brian (SoCal)
Saint sd has outscored Browns O. That is offensive.
Brian (franklin ma)
wat up w/ lj????
jay (11:09 AM)
my brother lives in memphis! id ove to take the show there.
jay (11:10 AM)
he should. they deny thats why theyre doing it, but it seems painfully obvous to me. im telling you, i'd take art modell over these guys ANY DAY!
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay, great interview question about the effect of a college win on an NFL player.
jay (11:10 AM)
thanks jon. ive had lots of guys say they really get affected by what happens on saturdays...
mike m (canton,oh)
James (Denver)the vikes arent cheaters the courts said they can play plus theres more then 2 people on the vikes d thats playing good ball
Chad (Las Vegas)
ESPN Zone in Vegas would be a good place for a show!!!
jay (11:11 AM)
we did a weeks worth of shows in vegas in 2005, what a blast!!!!
Brian (SoCal)
C'mon jay. going to visit family on work trips. That's what vacation is for.
jay (11:12 AM)
hmmmm, true.. but you know me...always trying to find new ways to vacay!
Cedric (Memphis)
Jay, bigger Browns fan, you or Jerry Lawler
jay (11:12 AM)
me!
Umor (Detroit)
Jay really Art Model. The traitor.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
aaahhh, good times! any of my people out there remember those birth control eye glasses at BMT?
Cedric (Memphis)
Art Modell I agree
stacy (georgetown)
oh come on jay....
Mark (Ann Arbor)
I know it gives you guys something to talk about, but does it really matter right now if the Saints are #1 in the power rankings? This isn't college football and decides who goes to the Super Bowl
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
The saints will be the best in the NFL if they beat the colts, but until then HELL NO!!!
Brian (SoCal)
sorry I meant JAYcation. :)
Chris (Boston)
Does Skip have something in his contract that says he doesn't have to wear a tie?!
john (panama city bch, fl)
Brian- sHHHH- jay knows that, but ESPN don't,lol
Chad (Las Vegas)
Come back. I didn't live here in 2005.
willie (topeka basement)
ya jay do u think the browns benched quinn for the money?
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
1st take in LONDON would be kind of interesting
Heath (Bham,AL)
Roman Harper is the man, he beat Tennessee when he was at Bama! Love that guy! RTR RAMMER JAMMER
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
browns beat ravens monday..lock it
James (Denver)
Who is running the Memphis Grizzlies ? And why havent 6hey been fired yet ? First they give away Gasol to the Lakers in the wordt trade in NBA history . Then they draft Thabeet with the 2nd overall pick . The guy might have potential but he cant play at all now . Then they sign AI and wont play him . Im all for playing young players building for future but I dont know whats happening in Memphis .
Brian (SoCal)
Maybe the browns can move somewhere else and Cleveland can stat over again.
jay (11:14 AM)
real fans know what he did for the city. his teams were ALWAYS a factor. he wanted desperately to win. he watched the city give the loser cavs, and loser indians new stadiums, but refused to give the browns, the most popular team in the city a new facility. the stadium was crumbling, baltimore came in and said they would give him a new stadium, and he left. he felt betrayed and ignored by the city. none of it forgives what he did, but there is a backstory there. bottom line as an owner, his organization was very, very good!
jay (11:14 AM)
mike, thanks man! very nice of you!!!
jay (11:15 AM)
with our cohost, big ben!!!
Demetric (Orlando)
The Siants are fools gold, just like the teen-titans were last year
stacy (georgetown)
dallas goes to the playoffs right jay?
Chad (Las Vegas)
Maurice is smoking crack. Browns are HORRIBLE. Tom Brady could QB them in this game and they would still get crushed.
jay (11:15 AM)
absolutely!
RJ (Boston)
LJ to the Redskins... if Snyder has to replace Portis.
Umor (Detroit)
Larry Johnson to the browns. I don't think their fans would like that.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
The Browns best chance to score during a game is either on a Punt or Kick Return. Josh Cribbs is their best player.
Jrice (Spartanburg,SC)
Is it me or does it seem like everyone in the Cape May audience is wearing the same style of frames/glasses. Can someone skool me on this?
jay (11:16 AM)
nothing would shock me about that game.
Guy (Jacksonville)
I would like to see Ozzie leave Balt and become VP of Player Pers. at Cleveland.
jay (11:16 AM)
ive been saying that for years.
Mod (11:17 AM)
just a theory, but they're probably recommended standard issue glasses - fashion opticals won't fly with all the physical activity they do there...I bet they get those during the first 3 days of medical clearance exams
Chad (Las Vegas)
Jrice (SC) Military issue glasses. They have to were those ugly frames while on duty.
***Lew*** (Chicago)
@ GuyHe already had that job lol!!!
Africa (Brooklyn)
LJ to the Redskins? That's not a good idea. A head case on another bad team?
jay (11:18 AM)
i know, but geez, cant we get a more stylish frame. id say my vision is good thanks!
mike m (canton,oh)
jay i agree 100% if the city would of built modell a new stadium the browns would of never left for baltimore
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Jrice, its the mandatory glasses that they make you wear in bootcamp. No contact lenses are allowed.
mike (Atlanta)
jay i feel like washington is the new Cleveland. Wizards 2-6, redskins are the redskins (though im a ravens fan), nationals are the nationals. All we got left is hockey.
Jonathan (ATL)
Demetric.....I agree! I just don't trust the Saints.....seems like their the Iowa of the NFL...they find a way to win but their built on a shaky foundation.
jay (11:18 AM)
it is the fault of the city government. no question!
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
Theres going to be a smash mouth war in the afc north sunday bengals steelers going to be the most physical game of the year
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
we call them glasses birth control glasses
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
nah...i just think they are do, and the ravens are struggling
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
maurice (rockaway beach, ny) No way the ravens wont let themselves stoop to that level but I will say, Marvin Harrison is out there - pick him up B - More, what do you have to lose???
Chad (Las Vegas)
Skip is a FOOL. 6th? It is much harder to come back in the NFL than it is in college.
Guy (Jacksonville)
They have to put them on so they are not blinded by Skip's shirt!
john (panama city bch, fl)
It's called- U N I F O R M...and the Military don't do 'throwback",lol
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
they should issue those to floridas opponents
mike m (canton,oh)
lj to browns..why would the browns want another jamal lewis..30 is old for a rb and lj is at that point
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
those frames gotta be able to go through A LOT in basic
Cedric (Memphis)
Ozzie is the VP of the Browns.
Jonathan (ATL)
Can Skip ever talk about the Cowboys without talking about either TO or Jessica?
Brian (SoCal)
Why is Tony Romo a different guy but A Rod was still bad.
jay (11:20 AM)
welcome to the tortured fan club.
Chad (Las Vegas)
Look at Dallas' schedule. Easy in Nov. GB, Wash, Oak. Now look at DEC. SD, NO, WASH, Philly in Jan. Dallas will crumble again in Dec/Jan.
RJ (Boston)
Not saying it's a good idea, Africa... just saying it's a move Snyder would be likely to make (if Portis is hurt for a while... and let's face it. CP has a lot of tread use on those tires).
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Every year there is a team that comes out of no where and starts out hot. Then they eventually fade. or lose early in the playoffs. That could be the Saints this year.
Cedric (Memphis)
Jay, can the people of Cleveland and Browns fans really be happy cheering for a team that was a sympathy award. These arent the real Browns! Right?
***Lew*** (Chicago)
With your life onthe line,NO you would not Jay lolSupport the Troops and Support their Frames!!!!
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
skip is the most biased debator ive ever seen..
Guy (Jacksonville)
No VP at Balt...
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Cleveland should get Ozzie involved, Bernie Kozar, all the Old School Browns....even Jim Brown...bring back tradition....their great fans deserve it Jay
Jonathan (ATL)
Ritchie's right about the NFC East....this is a down year for that division. The best division in the league is the AFC North.
jay (11:21 AM)
my level of fandome went from 100 to 10 when the browns moved. its now a 5!!!
Mark (Ann Arbor)
5 years from now, Skip will still be using TO as an argueing point for the Cowboys
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
BLAH BLAH BLAH SKIP!!! - the Cowboys still have to win a playoff game and the TO bashing is starting to make you look ridiculous. Believe me you'll be calling him little romeo by playoff time
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Dallas will crumble late not because of the schedule but because Skips man crush Romo is the QB
RJ (Boston)
Mark,I think Denver has already taken that charm.
Cedric (Memphis)
Vince Young isn't the reason the Titans are winning. Their defense and Chris Johnson have finally showed up allowing them to play Titans football.
Brian (SoCal)
When skip talks it sounds like the adults in Peanuts. BWAH, BWAH, BWAH.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
maurice (rockaway beach, ny) your right it isn't even worth while debate its pure shock jock talk
Jonathan (ATL)
Jay...ever thought of becoming a Raven's fan since they're your old team?
Brian (SoCal)
Jon is just supporting the troops.
mike m (canton,oh)
i dont think mangini cares about browns tradition..he laready painted over the mural of jim brown in berea
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
blah,blah,blah...Romo/history will repeat himself....JOHN wins
Kevin (NC)
Tennessee has played very well against (1)Florida, Almost beat Alabama, Destroyed Georgia, and routed Memphis!! WHEN will they get into the top 25? I mean they DESERVE at least the 25 spot!!
jay (11:23 AM)
i'll tell you mike, im really hesitant about bernie. he's had a rocky sretch in his personal life. perscription drug abuse, bankruptcy and im just not sure his talents as a player mean he'll be good in the front office. keep them in the fold. pr figure heads which this team needs badly, but if they dont start building a new winning tradition soon, a generation of clevelanders will grow up having no interest in pro fotball there...
Chad (Las Vegas)
Skip is the way he is because he researches his opinions more than his guests. If his guests spent half the time Skip does on looking up stupid numbers and stories to back himself up they would crush him. You can make most of these topics look anyway you want them to.
jay (11:23 AM)
never!
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Kevin - Tennessee lost to UCLA. I think that stops your top 25 arguement
john (panama city bch, fl)
Seems like John would learn from Ocho's mistake....at LEAST offer 'em a Fin!!!
Africa (Brooklyn)
RJ: True, it's a Snyder-esque move. Honestly, I was thinking the G-men should take a look, get that 3 headed monster back. Not that it'll solve the defense.
Demetric (Orlando)
Marvin Harrison and Matt Jones (the original tim tebow) are till good WR's that can make an impact
Chad (Las Vegas)
Kevin (NC) be careful of what you ask for. Auburn fans cried to be int he top 25 forever. They got there and then look what happened.
jay (11:24 AM)
stacy, play nice!
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
I'll tell you what kevin(nc) im gator alum, and huge gator fan, but if tennesee had a decent qb they'd be fighting for a piece of the sec
mike m (canton,oh)
mangini said the dumbest thing i ever heard..he said the browns remind him of the pats when he started there..i laughed so hard i cried
Cedric (Memphis)
Plus, the Titans just beat the Jags and my lowly 9ers. not really contenders in my book. So, I'm still not convinced on VY yet
Kevin (NC)
Why? Some top 25 teams have lost and they are still in the top 25. Virginia Tech lost to UNC, they are still in the top 25
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
tennessee deserves to be in the top 25 as much as USC deserves to be #1
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Ritchie in a sweep over Skip!...Al "Just Win Baby" would be proud of his Raider FB
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
jay you picking against the bengals again this sunday? worked out well for them last week
Brian (SoCal)
Stacy, who is your team?
willie (topeka basement)
auburn is in a rebuilding phase leave my tigers alone lol
Guy (Jacksonville)
It would be nice to have Minefield and Dixon be involved in motivating or even help coaching the Brown's D.
Kevin (NC)
I just think Tennesse has played better than some current top 25 teams like Notre Dame or Nebraska
stacy (georgetown)
dallas.
john (panama city bch, fl)
USC has lost TWICE- but will still get a big money Bowl bid!
Brian (SoCal)
Skip has cowboys ahead of Saints. He needs to be drug tested.
RJ (Boston)
Wasn't Ritchie a Nebraska product? Osborne's influence... not Davis'.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Kevin - Notre Dame and Nebraska are not in the top 25 right now.
Kevin (NC)
Skip almost called the Panthers beating the Saints, give Skip some credit!!!
Brian (SoCal)
Well good luck with that.
Cedric (Memphis)
Will The U make a BCS bowl game?
RJ (Boston)
Oops... John Ritchie was a Wolverine/Cardinal (Stanford). No wonder he did well.
mike m (canton,oh)
the browns should of drafted clay mattews jr and rey maualuga instead of the 2 wr
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Arizona will be the Super Bowl dark horse 2 years in a row
Demetric (Orlando)
Ced, my man, Vince Young is the reason the Titians are winning, teams have to honor his running ability and that and that leaves lanes open for Johnson/White to run and passing game to be free. Not to mention the Defense can rest a little with the ground game back
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
that's cause skip is a cowboys fan! He WORSHIPS romo. I bet if skip were running the Cavs he'd get rid of James and start Romo in his place since Romo can do NO WRONG in skips eyes
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Tennessee will be in a small bowl this year and will be very good next year...current ratings in poll are not that important to the Kiffins
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
skip wears cowboys pajamas with the feet in them
Umor (Detroit)
Iowa lost to Northwestern and are still a top 10 team.
willie (topeka basement)
john that is why ppl love to hate usc
Jonathan (ATL)
The Chargers are another team that's fool's gold.....no running game. Definitely a false positive.
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
didn't realize that cardinals were 4-0 on the road....pretty darn impressive considering its the cardinals
Chad (Las Vegas)
IF USC makes a BCS bowl. I hope it is one of the ones on FOX so that ESPN can help me get the word out for NO ONE to watch the game. The only way to prevent this in the future is for the ratings of that game to go into the tank in protest.
Reischea (11:30 AM)
So agree First Take return to Vegas would be awesome.... would hope they bring the updates gal along! :-)
Umor (Detroit)
If Romo has another Nov. Dec. Melt down. Then it's time to trade him and fire the coach for letting it happen again.
JD (CHT)
Nobody gave my cowboys a chance at the beginning of the season, even in this chat dana told me that they are the third best team in the NFC east. Half way in the season and we are 1st. NOTHING ELSE TO SAY
Kevin (NC)
I know but they were is what I am saying, Notre Dame and Nebraska both was in the top 25 this season and I think TENN has played better agaisnt better teams
stacy (georgetown)
umor-never.....
Guy (Jacksonville)
Pittsburgh will blow it against Cinci Sun.
Kevin (NC)
Lets talk NBA. Shaq has cursed the cavaliers. Suddenly the look old and slow!!!
john (panama city bch, fl)
willie..down here in MY basement- Y E P ! ! !
Brian (SoCal)
The thing is if USC gets into a BCS bowl game they will win that game. They always come up big in the bowls.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Your arguement makes no sense. So because at somepoint this year Notre Dame and Nebraska were in the top 25, then 5-4 Tennessee should be now?
Cedric (Memphis)
So, if teams have to account for VY's running, why did CJ have a good year last year and some good games this year with kerry Collins in there?
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
haha guy cinci won't even make the playoffs
Chad (Las Vegas)
Cowboys fans enjoy it now. Look at your Dec/Jan schedule. You will get stomped. You might still make the playoffs as a wild card but then you would have to play Arizona or your own division winner on the road in the 1st playoff game. YOU LOSE.
Jonathan (ATL)
Umor's right. There's a lot of pressure on Romo to have a good December. If not, then he, Phillips and Garrett will be shown the gate.
James (Denver)
I knew I hated John Ritchie for a good reason . He was a Cornhusker and a Raider . How can you like him ?
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
THe berg better get a new copy of renegade for this weekend they are gonna need it
Kevin (NC)
And when is Cleveland gonna stop giving the ball to Lebron and having him go 1 on 5? I mean it seems Lebron always get his stats up but his team ,loses
Umor (Detroit)
Shaq running days are over. You wanna run and gun. Then Shaq anit your man. Halfcourt set pieces he can still do.
Cedric (Memphis)
Let's face it! The Titans defense and other players have to play harder and be more focused because they know VY will give the game away. With KC they knew he was capable of winnng a game on his arm.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Demetric (Orlando) you right!!! - you cant all of the sudden say "OH the defense and Chris Johnson are finally stepping up" just because Vince Young is now in the game, Chris Johnson rushed for over 200 yards in a losing effort before VY even got in the game ( has a double threat and makes Defensive nervous with his running ability)
Guy (Jacksonville)
ALL CAVs Hatters, tonight you bow to King James and the Shaq attack!! you too Skip.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
i think USC run may be on hold for a couple years
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
thats cause LeBron cant shoot, cant shoot free throws
Kevin (NC)
Tennesee might be 5-4, but its the teams they have almost beat, FLORIDA, ALABAMA, I mean come on. These are top 3 teams in the nation and TENN almost beat them
RJ (Boston)
James.... I was wrong. Ritchie went to Michigan and to Stanford. Not the N.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
even in the half court howard would WALK right around Shaq
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
the cavs need an offensive minded coach
mike m (canton,oh)
kevin nc almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades
Cedric (Memphis)
teams just 1 game over .500 shouldn't be ranked!
Cedric (Memphis)
The Cavs just need a better coach. Anything other than Mike Brown would do
Charlie (Id)
Larry J. discussion, can't blame a team for picking him up down the stretch, however, next year he'll be back to the same L.J. He was making trouble his last year at Penn St. and hasn't changed.
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
kevin theres no almost column...just wins and losses even ties...but no almost win
Guy (Jacksonville)
Franc are you watching Cav's games? Lebron moves the ball around more then any super-star player.
willie (topeka basement)
ahhh boot camp i remember my army bootcamp
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
word cedric
Brian (SoCal)
You don't get credit for almost beating good teams unless you are charlie Weis.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
look SEC fellas. Tennessee will be a monster next year and you guys know it - i think people are seeing the righting on the walls and are hatting on Kiffin cause they know whats coming
Brian (SoCal)
I don't remember ever sitting at attention. must be either new or a coast guard thing.
Chad (Las Vegas)
USC's future isn't the greatest. They have owned west coast football for years; especially recruiting. Now you have limited scholarships, and better teams/coaches then you have had in a while out here. Cal, Oregon, Arizon, Utah, Boise St. BYU all now can get some of those players away from USC.
mike m (canton,oh)
its way to early to bash the cavs wait till they get powe back and west gets his mind right and then we will see the true cavs
john (panama city bch, fl)
Cedric- wasn't he "Coach of the Year" last year?
Cedric (Memphis)
Did Skip get to experience any of the boot camp? Lets get a drill sergeant in his face on an obstacle course!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Ft. Sill, OK bootcamp in the middle of winter. NOT FUN.
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
im a huge lebron guy, i love him, he is my man crush lol....but i wish he had the take over and win mentality...stop already with the posing and bs and play some damn ball
willie (topeka basement)
yea thatd be great cedrick
Brian (SoCal)
Tennesse will be good once they find a QB. That being said no credit for almost.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
James Denver's hate is about Da Raiders which is understandable from Denver...I'm sure the Black Hole fels the same way about Shanahan and Elway
john (panama city bch, fl)
Pity they can't do it during the season, though. No offense, but in the SEC- EVERY GAME is like a Super Bowl. They could call it "Any Given Sat." Small schools RISE up to try to trip up the faves. USC is startin to get a taste of that- we've been dealing with it for decades!
Cedric (Memphis)
Mike Brown was just along for the ride. What does he do? i think LeBron is the Peyton Manning of that team and tells everybody where they need to be?
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
worse than ft sill in the winter is boot camp at great lake in the winter
Guy (Jacksonville)
I see alot of folks have caught Clevelnd envy.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Ced- maybe he's smart enuf to roll w/ that!! If it works, why fix it?
Brian (SoCal)
USC still recruits in top 5 every year and they will continue to play well. This year D has not been agressive. Mays needs to wrap when he hits.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
James cant shoot free throws. At the rate that LeBron gets to the basket and gets fouled he should be shooting WAY higher than 71% from the free throw line. That's why the Cavs lost last year.
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Jason - no one is doubting that Tennessee has a chance to be very good next year. But to say because they almost beat Alabama and Florida should put them in the top 25 is absurd
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
JD (CHT) dude Dallas had two seasons in a row like this and still couldn't win a playoff game (and everybody was giving them the superbowl on a silver platter)
Brian (SoCal)
I hear you Franc. i was at great Lakes in february. it was -50 for a whole week.
Cedric (Memphis)
You even saw John Kuester drawing up the last second plays last year and it got him the Pistons job. This year Brandon Malone is drawing up the final plays! What does Mike Brown do? It's cool I know the Big Shaqtus will get it done. Brown is out!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
who cares if lebron is moving the ball better than any super star. HE CANT SHOOT FREE THROWS
JD (CHT)
cleveland is still a good basketball team, by mid season no one will remember there start
Jonathan (ATL)
Great segment on the Coast Guard training! First Take needs to put Skip through that type of sports insight training to improve his weak game.
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
shaq is washed up going through divorce and all he is doing now is clogging lebrons driving lanes
Cedric (Memphis)
Nothing done so far has gotten them a title so something has to change with the Cavs!
JD (CHT)
this is a differant team, emerging stars, romo is more mature, they will win the nfc east
Mark (Ann Arbor)
Its only november so people should slow down on the Cav's and their start right now. Look at the Penguins last year. They started terrible fired their coach mid-season and ended up winning the Stanley Cup
Chad (Las Vegas)
Cleveland best hope the Cavs don't win it all. That city can't afford the riot clean up costs.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Mark (Ann Arbor)your absolutely right about that - a winning record is a winning record but I'm tired o people hatting on Kiffin knowing they're crapping their pants about next year
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Basketball still needs a complete team to win...was reminded of that when Larry Bird was on Mike and Mike this morning talking about he and Magic...LeBron is a very good player...they need their whole team to beat Orlando, Boston to say nothing about the West
john (panama city bch, fl)
It's not like LBJ doesn't get PRACTICE shooting free-throws, he hits MORE three-point lay-ups than ANYONE...except maybe Kobe, Pau, Varejao (flop-master)
Cedric (Memphis)
For Skip to claim to be so knowledgeable he is so wrong. Doesnt he see the Giants have key injuries to the defense.
Brian (SoCal)
Shaq is now "the big check casher".
Chad (Las Vegas)
Skip has a different tone when being asked questions off the cuff instead of having hours of prep time!
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
with james and shaq now there are 2 superstars in cleveland that when it comes down to it in a playoff game wont make free throws
mike m (canton,oh)
its not mike browns fault danny ferry hasnt brought in enogh talent to help lbj.hes just coaches what he has
Guy (Jacksonville)
Well since LBJ has a slow start on free throw percentage, Brown should bench him...are you nuts, make room on the shelf, James wins another MVP!
Demetric (Orlando)
Meanwhile the best NBA offseason pick-up that went unotice was....jamal crawlford to the Hawks and now he and Joe Johnson is the best 1-2 punch in the east
Mod (11:46 AM)
best service acadamy athlete: Roger Staubach or David Robinson??
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Cant wait to see the Blind Side Movie - looks like it might be as good as Remember The Titans
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
and lebron also MISSES more three pointers than anyone
RJ (Boston)
Great question, Mod.I'll go with Staubach. I heard too many rumors about Robinson not really leading with heart... as opposed to Staubach leading with ALL HEART.
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
tim tebow, the football jesus, GO GATORS!!!!
Chad (Las Vegas)
Doc Blanchard at Army was a great service academy athlete.
JD (CHT)
You really cant say one is greater than another, Roger won superbowls aand robinson won championships
Guy (Jacksonville)
Staubach, the guy's really flawlwss.
dougy (indy)
yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I dont agree with skip on anything but he's 100% right about LeBron
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
oh roger staubach by far
Brian (SoCal)
how can professional Basketball players be such poor free throw shooters? they should learn that right after dribbling... never mind.
Umor (Detroit)
See skip, Even the Sarge agrees that if dallas loses a playoff game. Wade Phillips needs to go. He's wasting a great running game his team has.
john (panama city bch, fl)
Mod....YES!
Guy (Jacksonville)
Franc, I believe it will come down to Shaq posting Howard to the wood during the eastern conf finals.
DAVID (Bowie,Md)
BOTH.................
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
roger staubach
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
james can win all the MVPs in the world he wont win a championship unless he learns how to shoot better
Cedric (Memphis)
The Admiral!!!
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
LJ to the patriots....
Guy (Jacksonville)
Franc are you friends with Skip?
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Mod - that's the toughest question of the century to answer right there - that should have been today's poll question
Demetric (Orlando)
Maybe if Lebrick pratices Free-throws instead of half-cout shots he could do a little better than 69%
Cedric (Memphis)
So what if he brought a defensive presence! It hasnt brought winning results! I say send him packing and let him go back to being a Popovich flunkie!
Dougie Fresh (DC)
No doubt, the Admiral was a great, hall-of fame hoopster, but Roger the Dodger is at another level. Used to work for him, and the guy still has it. Can throw the ball fifty yards on a line. He is 60, and said that if he could play every other week, he could still do it. What an animal. Thanks to all the vets out there. Peace.
mike m (canton,oh)
mod robinson one of the best big men in the nbas history
George (Walla Walla)
I think I can remember saying more than once on the show that the Yankees would never win a WS with A Rod. Could you play the clip, it may be old, could be cold pizza days. Get Woody back on btw, it was great to see him last time you brought him back.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
lemme guess... skip takes staubach
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
johns nuts......put kerry collins back in.....yuck
BENGALBILL (CINCINNATI)
larry's gonna be selling steaks out of the back of a truck
john (panama city bch, fl)
Roger Goodel should make LJ run- in pumps...that'll teach him some appreciation of an alternate lifestyle!
RJ (Boston)
Growing up in a service academy town... FUN place to watch college football, even knowing your team won't be in the title talks. FUN place to watch games and clean fanfare.
Umor (Detroit)
Happy Veteran Day, Thanks to all the men and women who serve us. And God bless America.
Dewayne (San Diego,Ca.)
DEmetric u been listening to Skip Clueless. JBJ we be fine when all said and done
Jonathan (ATL)
Tough question Mod! I would probably take Robinson in a very close race. He was more dominate at Navy in the college ranks and can definitely be considered one of the top 50 players in the NBA of all time.
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
If you take away pro careers, I would say Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis back in the day when college football was king
Demetric (Orlando)
Top Overrated Active Players in Sports: 5. Dale Earnhart Jr 4. Andy Roddick 3. Tim Tebow 2. Tom Brady 1. LeYork James
Kevin (NC)
There is no Almost column! But the BCS judges on how you defeat your oppnnent and how much you beat them by. I seem to remember 2 years ago when USC was ranked number 1, they won there game and still dropped.
Cedric (Memphis)
Looking at the best players available the last 3-4 years, who did the Cavs really have a chance to bring in to fit the cavs or help LeBron/team win a title
Dewayne (San Diego,Ca.)
Franc Shaq is not a superstar. Quit hating on LBJ. NOONE has done what he has so young.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
all this Lebron talk but CARMELLO played better in last years playoffs. Look at the way he stepped up against Kobe. Right now Carmello has a better chance of winning a championship than Lebron
mike m (canton,oh)
lebrons shooting problem is he never went to college where he would of had time to fine tune his stroke
Guy (Jacksonville)
Tonight-how long until D. Howard is in foul trouble against Shaq, cant wait, Skip should watch his beloved Magic get thier butt wopping.
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
I still think the Titans will trade Vince Young at the end of the season and I would love to see him on a team like San Fran
Brian (SoCal)
A win is a win. If running the option allows chris johnson to run easier then do it.
Charlie (Id)
Can't pick a wrong answer. I'd lean towards Roger as he miseed a couple years playing time in the NFL to finish his service duties, after winning the Heisman.
James (Denver)
Yeah sorry caddy Mike and all Raiders fans I just cant like anything or anyone ever associated with the Raiders Nation . I was raised to hate everything Raider .
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Jesus Skip, MJ really!!!
Demetric (Orlando)
1 thing I don't get, how these bum's who barely saw the feild and can't even spell starter get on air and rip players who are they're superior
Jonathan (ATL)
LOL....Franc you called it on Skip's answer.
RJ (Boston)
Demtric and that Tom Brday over rated talk again... Nut factory going on in your head, man.
stacy (georgetown)
so they would play green bay?
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
browns beat ravens monday...lock it
Brian (SoCal)
I would take either one of them. i think robinson is the better athelete. roger might have been more of a winner though.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
and whos fault is it that james didnt go to college???
willie (topeka basement)
skip always goes cowboys
mike m (canton,oh)
maurice dont drink so early its messing with your mind..browns lose big time
Demetric (Orlando)
RJ....lol
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
maurice (rockaway beach, ny) Browns have first pick in the draft next year - lock it!!!
Guy (Jacksonville)
I agree Browns beat Ravens, remeber last year when they nailed NY Giants on MNF>
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
Dana, cheers to Mr. Palmer who I met last week when he inducted President Eisenhower into the World Golf Hall of Fame...
mike m (canton,oh)
nikes fault they wanted him to go pro to sell shoes
Dewayne (San Diego,Ca.)
Thats cuz Carmello has a better supporting cast. The guy has been BALLIN since he came into the NBA. He has no troubles off the field and all SOME people wanna do is throw STONES.
Brian (SoCal)
Why can't these guys fine tune their stroke in the league. It's not ike they have to go to work 40 hours or more a week.
Reischea (11:56 AM)
Have a great hump day Sports Nation.and once again... Thank you to our Veterans both fallen and with us. Your service can never be repaid. You are true HEROES.
willie (topeka basement)
ty reis
Cedric (Memphis)
Peace Reis
maurice (rockaway beach, ny)
lebron was too good to play college, his body and game were nba ready
willie (topeka basement)
hooah!
James Spisak (Girard,Ohio)
Don't forget the best quarterback to come out of the Coast Guard,Otto Grahman.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
Its an HONOR and PLEASURE to serve!!!
mike m (canton,oh)
shaq will dominate howard book it
RJ (Boston)
Alright... I like Demetric again. Keeping it cool.
Franc (Kennesaw GA)
I'll give you that Melo has Billups but the rest is a wash
jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)
Love, peace and Hair grease ya'll have a great Wednesday
Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)
James perfectly understandable...and Mello will get his due in time
Guy (Jacksonville)
Cleveland nation says peace out!
mike m (canton,oh)
jr smith is no wash
Brian (SoCal)
Thanks again to all the vets. Have a great day.
mike m (canton,oh)
