Amy Waugh (4:54 PM)
I am here and ready to go!!!
Amy (Cincinnati)
Hi Amy. I just wanted to say that you have brought so much to the XU program. Every game I watch you play with all your heart and I just wanted to say thank you for bringing so much passion to this program. My question: It's no shocker that if you enter the WNBA draft, you'll be picked up. First, will you enter the draft, and if so, what team do you hope to be drafted by?
Amy Waugh (4:55 PM)
Yes, I would like to pursue my career at the pro level. It really doesn't matter where I end up.
Jill, Ohio
Amy, what Atlantic 10 team do you feel is the toughest to play? Who is your toughest opponent?
Amy Waugh (4:56 PM)
I think throughout my career here, we have had some good games with Dayton and George Washington. They are both rivalries for us. Dayton being just down the road, there is a strong rivalry there. We battle with George Washington every year.
Reds Fan
If someone was going to make a movie about your life which actress would you want to portray you?
Amy Waugh (4:56 PM)
That's a tough one. I really don't know.. I'll leave it up to you .. what do you think?
GO XU
What has been your most memorable moment in a Xavier uniform?
Amy Waugh (4:57 PM)
I would have to say our Sweet 16 victory over Tennessee my sophomore year.
Xavier96
What college team would you like to play against that you have not had the opportunity to play against yet?
Amy Waugh (4:57 PM)
I would like to play UConn. Obviously we would be the underdog but we have been in that position since I got here. That would be a great opportunity.
Big Daddy Fort Wayne
When is your bobble head coming out? I keep checking on e-bay for your memoribillia but I cannot find any. Why is this? I would pay a small fortune for anything of yours.
Amy Waugh (4:58 PM)
Maybe down the road sometime in the future I might have a bobblehead, but it's not that important to me. I like to stick to the team thing. I don't like to be thrown out there that much.

Sally, (San Jose)
What can you tell me that will make me a better 3-point shooter?
Amy Waugh (5:00 PM)
Shooting is all about repitition. Shooting by yourself and building your confidence is the best way to get better.
Vinny, Indianapolis
Hi, Amy. Congrats on a super year so far. I hope it continues. Two quick questions. First, although you are having a great year, what can Xavier do to get back into the A-10 West race and earn itself a post-season berth?Second, it looks like you are an Education major. How are your studies going? I hear Xavier is a pretty challenging school academic wise.
Amy Waugh (5:01 PM)
First, as a team we have surpised a lot of people this year. We are really coming together as a team and we have to keep taking small steps and working one game at a time to get back to the postseason.I am done with my classes and I am student teaching at an elementary school. I have 30 first graders that brighten my day every morning.
Bill (Florence, KY)
Tara Boothe has surprised a lot of people in her freshman year as the teams #2 scorer and #2 rebounder. Chat to us about what she has brought to this team.
Amy Waugh (5:02 PM)
Tara has taken some pressure off with her presence in the paint. She sure doesn't play like a freshman. She has taken advatange of her playing time to really help us out.
Mike (Ohio)
Do you think the A-10 schedule is preparing your team for a good NCAA run?
Amy Waugh (5:03 PM)
I think the A10 has really improved. Every team is competing with each other. Every game is good preparation. It's just all about winning games now and getting to the Tourney.
Mount Healthy
What is your favorite chili restaurant in Cincinnati? Have you ever been to Graeter's and if so what kind of ice cream to you get?
Amy Waugh (5:04 PM)
I have never had Skyline or Goldstar. I like chili, I just have never made it to those places. I have been to Graeter's and my favorite ice great is mint chocolate chip.
Pat, Swartz Creek
Hi Amy. How hard was it to make the transition of a new coaching staff?
Amy Waugh (5:05 PM)
I think we have so many new freshman and with the new staff, it wasn't that difficult because there wern't that many people who knew the old staff. We were able to take what the new staff told us and make it work.
Bridget, (Ft. Thomas)
Yo play so hard. You are a role model to many young girls. Who was your role model?
Amy Waugh (5:06 PM)
When I was growing up, I watched Isiah Thomas and tried to play like him on the court. I always tried to be like him but I also looked up to my older brothers who helped me get where I am today.
Coach R, Fort Wayne
Amy - my second question. A lot has been said that being a great shooter is mental - visualizing the shoot before you take it seeing it go through the rim. But, it's also been said that good mechanincs are necesary. Putting yourself in my place as a gurad coach what would you put more emphasize on for a young high school girl wanting to become a great shooter - mechanics or positive mental approach. I know they go hand-in-hand, but so many have poor techniques that I wonder what you would do if you were a guard coach.
Amy Waugh (5:07 PM)
I think it goes both ways. I think more importantly if the person has the confidence and mental approach, they can be a great shooter. Mechanics has to do with getting the shot off quick enough. I would have to say at the high school level it is more of a mental approach and having enough confidence. But you still have to work on the mechanics and come up with some day to day drills.
Petey
amy will you marry me?
Amy Waugh (5:08 PM)
Maybe we should meet first...
Rebecca (Cinti.)
Congratulations on your recent scoring efforts. I am curious if you are interested in a WNBA career or if you would rather go into coaching( maybe as an assistant under Coach McGuff)? I am a big fan of yours. I attended the XU basketball camp last year and come to as many of your games as I can.
Amy Waugh (5:09 PM)
After this year, my goal is to become a college coach. After my playing days are over, that is what I want to do. That is in my plans and I'm looking forward to it.
Jenny ( Cincinnati)
Amy: I love watching you play. What made you decide to attend Xavier? Was it a hard decision?
Amy Waugh (5:10 PM)
I came on a visit here and I just loved the family atmosphere of the campus. It wasn't a tough decision because I saw an opportunity to step in and play my freshman year. I wanted to help the program succeed right away.
kelly (norwood)
what is your favorite food?
Amy Waugh (5:11 PM)
Filet mignon. Medium well.
norwood andy
who do you think about when you shoot free throws? me?
Amy Waugh (5:11 PM)
I go through my routine .. three dribbles, set and release. The only real thought is that it's going in.
OSU Buckeye
What would be your dream vacation?
Amy Waugh (5:12 PM)
I would go anywhere that is warm and has a beach! Hopefully someday I will move close to a beach.
Mike (Ohio)
Although you're a senior, does it mean more to play for a coach who's been on a national staff previously? What's coach McGuff's "grade" so far this season?
Amy Waugh (5:13 PM)
He is a great coach. He has turned our program around and has great enthusiasm. He is going to be successful now and into the future.
Coach R, Fort Wayne
Amy - so building a good mental foundation for young shooters is a priority and I agree. You've always been a good shooter. What 1 or 2 things did you work on at X that transformed you into a great shooter?
Amy Waugh (5:14 PM)
I've done a lot of form shooting, close to the basket just to get the touch down. Other than that, just repeitition. Just being in the gym all the time and getting comfortable so you know as soon as you release it if it is good or not.
Allen (at Xavier)
How is the student teaching going ? Do your students know you are a basketball star ?
Amy Waugh (5:15 PM)
Yes, they know I'm on the Xavier team and they are all coming to a game sometime soon.
Josh (Pa)
Against what team would you most want to make a game winning 3-point shot at the buzzer.
Amy Waugh (5:16 PM)
I'm going to say UConn. Just because they are the best at what they. They have won so many in a row .. it would be fun to knock them off.
Martha (Cincinnati)
What has been the most difficult time for you as a college player?
Amy Waugh (5:18 PM)
I think the most difficult time for me was when I tore my achilles tendon and had to sit out. It was the first time I couldn't play the sport I love. It made me realize how blessed I am to be able to play this game. I will never take it for granted again.
Amy Waugh (5:19 PM)
Thanks everyone for all your support. And thanks for joining me in the chat! Take care!
