Chat with Drew Storen

Drew Storen pitched two years for Stanford before the Nationals picked him No. 10 in 2009.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Thursday, Washington Nationals minor league prospect Drew Storen stops by to chat about the upcoming baseball season. Also on Thursday, ESPN.com ranks the top 100 prospects in MLB.
The Nationals selected Storen with the 10th overall pick in 2009, after choosing Stephen Strasburg with the No. 1 pick. After signing, Storen made quick work of his time in Single A, advancing to Double AA in about six weeks. He saved nine games in AA, not allowing an earned run, while striking out 12 in 12 innings.
Storen attended Stanford, after not signing with the New York Yankees when they drafted him in the 34th round of the 2007 draft. In two years with Stanford, Storen went 12-4 with 15 saves and 116 saves in 99 innings.
Send your questions now and join Storen Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET!

Drew Storen (1:26 PM)
Welcome everybody, I'm glad to be here to answer your questions.
Mike (Laurel, MD)
What do you like most about Washington, D.C.?
Drew Storen (1:27 PM)
I like all of it. The history and the historical landmarks. As a child I never visited Washington, D.C. so it's pretty cool to see the White House and other historical places.
George Vanderlay (DC Area)
Drew - What's you're overall impression of the fans so far?
Drew Storen (1:29 PM)
I've been pleasantly surprised on how many baseball fans that are here in D.C. I would like to win over some of the Orioles and Phillies fan that are here in the D.C. area.
Kip (DC)
Who was the toughest out in AA?
Drew Storen (1:30 PM)
Wow! I would say any of the number three or four hitters in lineup. After facing all those guys in the Arizona Fall league, it's kind of tough to remember who I faced in AA.
Kenneth (West Virginia)
What parts of your game do you need to improve?
Drew Storen (1:30 PM)
I would say locating my fastball. I need to make sure it's down in the zone.
Noah (Nebraska)
Drew, do you hope to be the top closer of the future in the MLB, or do you expect to maybe start for a team?
Drew Storen (1:32 PM)
It really doesn't matter. My goal now is to be a lay in bullpen guy. I think I have enough pitches in my arsenal that I can start if the Nationals wanted me to.
Matt (Cotuit, MA)
How well did your time on the Cape prepare you for being a professional?
Drew Storen (1:33 PM)
The biggest thing I learned is how to play baseball everyday. The Cape really wasn't that much different from pro ball meaning we played ball almost everyday which was very different coming from college where we played only three or four games a week.
Tim (Yardley, PA)
Are you glad to be working with such a young staff? Or is it a challenge?
Drew Storen (1:35 PM)
It's great. I think being here adds to the excitement of it all. These young guys I'm working with do have some experience and I can learn from them. It's defiantly something that I'm excited about.
Carli (Santa Clara, CA)
Drew, you are a very handsome guy, do you feel any pressure to be, along with strasburg, the new face of the nationals?
Drew Storen (1:36 PM)
Not at all, I'm not a guy that worries about pressure. The pressure that I put on myself out weighs pressure from any where else. It's an honor to be mentioned in the same sentence as a guy like Strasburg.
Drew Storen (1:37 PM)
By the way, thanks for calling me handsome!
Bernie (DC)
Drew, Which pitcher, on staff with the Nats, are you most looking forward to picking his brain? (Sounds gross, eh!) Which three CD must you have on a deserted island?
Drew Storen (1:39 PM)
Any of the new veteran guys like Guardado, Capps or Marquis. I can learn so much from all the guys on the roster.
Drew Storen (1:40 PM)
I must have the Forrest Gump soundtrack, ACDC Live and any Dave Matthews Live CD.
Frank (Washington)
Do you listen to any of the hype surrounding prospect lists or the "hot" names in the game?
Drew Storen (1:42 PM)
Not too much. There are enough guys that I play with that talk about them so I don't really need to get into that. Plus I play with a lot of the guys who are on that list.
Drew Storen (1:43 PM)
Thanks for all the questions. I love hearing from the fans.
