Chat with Bryan Bulaga
Scouts Inc. ranks Bulaga as the seventh best prospect in the draft.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Friday, we're going to talk NFL draft when offensive tackle prospect, and former Iowa player, Bryan Bulaga stops by to chat.
Bulaga began his career at Iowa in 2007 playing guard, earning a starting position by the end of the season. He moved to tackle for 2008 and by the end of his career in 2009, he was named the Big Ten offensive lineman of the year.
Scouts Inc. ranks Bulaga as the No. 2 ranked offensive tackle in the draft, while Mel Kiper has him as the No. 3 tackle. And Scouts Inc. grades his pass protection and run blocking skills highly while saying in his profile that he is a "prototypical height, weight and speed for a left tackle prospect."
Send your questions now and join Bulaga Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET!
Who was the toughest guy to block while you were in the trenches at Iowa?
Bryan Bulaga (2:25 PM)
The toughest guy that I had to block was Derrick Morgan from Georgia in our bowl game. Brandon Graham from Michigan was another tough guy to block.
Why is it, do you think, that lineman get little credit of a team's success?
Bryan Bulaga (2:27 PM)
I think it's because our names aren't called on TV, we don't score touchdowns and we aren't called on to market the team. I do think that's how most offensive linemen like it tough. Being behind the scene working hard and getting the job done.
Are you a big video game player? Will you be excited to see yourself on Madden next year?
Bryan Bulaga (2:28 PM)
I love playing video games, it's one of my favorite things to do in my down time. It was cool watching myself play on the college games even tough our names weren't on the jerseys. I'm really looking forward to seeing myself playing in Madden with my name on the back of my jersey for everyone to see.
Where will you be on draft day?
Bryan Bulaga (2:29 PM)
As of right now, I'll either be at my brothers house or at the draft in New York. I haven't finalized any plans yet.
Austin McGee (Pine Island, MN)
Bryan! What other sports did you play as a kid?
Bryan Bulaga (2:30 PM)
I played baseball and basketball up until my junior year in high school.
Stephanie Drossel (Rochester, MN)
Bryan, what kind of music do you listen to? Lil Wayne...T-Pain...Chamillionaire...I have a feeling you are a T-Pain kid of guy and his Autotuning and Vocoding awesomness...
Bryan Bulaga (2:31 PM)
Out of those I like T-Pain and Lil Wayane but I'm more of a county guy. I do listen to all genres of music.
Jeff Cook (Computer Class)
What team did you want to play for growing up?
Bryan Bulaga (2:32 PM)
Growing up in Illinois I've always wanted to play with the Bears. Playing in the backyard growing up, all the kids dreamed about playing at Solider Field for the Bears.
Do you think that you could put away a 72 oz steak like Adam Richman from Man Vs Food?
Bryan Bulaga (2:32 PM)
I think that would be very tough. I don't think many people can do that. I'm probably a 42 oz guy myself.
Which defensive linemen are most looking forward to go up against?
Bryan Bulaga (2:34 PM)
Really any defensive lineman would be really exciting to go up against. I do think going up against Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers would be the two that pop into my mind as the most exciting players to match up against.
Huge Jets fan. Thoughts on Shonn Greene. He was great last season.
Bryan Bulaga (2:35 PM)
Shonn played amazing. He's a great guy and I'm so happy that he's doing well with the Jets. He deserves everything he gets because he's a great person and a great teammate.
U HAVE SWAG? (I have SWAGGA)
How is your bracket looking right now? I couldn't imagine good...
Bryan Bulaga (2:36 PM)
My bracket is not looking well. I was really banking on Kansas winning it all. They lost to N. Iowa and I can't be mad at that.
How have you been preparing for the draft?
Bryan Bulaga (2:37 PM)
I trained down in Phoenix for eight weeks and post combine and post pro-day I'll be here at Iowa training.
Bryan Bulaga (2:38 PM)
I appreciate all the questions. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day!
