Paul Sherwen (3:08 PM)
The last couple of days have been pretty exciting with the sprinters coming to the front. It's been quite fun to watch, let's get started!
Andy Shen (NYC)
Could your coverage of the Tour de France be any more biased to Lance Armstrong?
Paul Sherwen (3:08 PM)
Well the fact is we're doing it for the American market. They want to know how he's doing.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Has the Tour de France ever been cancelled due to extreme heat(Extreme Heat is the temperatures are 95 & above
Paul Sherwen (3:09 PM)
It's never been canceled because of extreme heat but it has been canceled or shortened because of snow.
Ron (Rhode Island)
Do you really think Lance has a chance to win this race? What are his chances of landing on the podium now that he is 2:30 behind?
Paul Sherwen (3:12 PM)
I think he still has a chance of getting on the podium but to win will be a little more difficult. He might need to change his strategy in order to win.
Dave (Chicago)
Paul, I read somewhere that the ratings for the race so far have been pretty good. Why do you think that is?
Paul Sherwen (3:14 PM)
I think everyone knows that the first few days of the Tour will be very exciting. On this particular part of the Tour, the winds are a big factor so people want to see how the riders will react.
Scott (Indy)
I love your coverage of the Tour. Keep up the good work! How big of a loss is Frank to Andy now that we are getting into the mountains?
Paul Sherwen (3:15 PM)
I think it's a big loss for Andy because the two of them work well together in the mountains. To have his brother there with him would help him out a lot physiologically especially on those stressful stages.
Tim (USA)
Who was fighting at the end of the race today (7/9/10), and why?
Paul Sherwen (3:17 PM)
The Carlos Barredo and Rui Costa. At the moment I can't tell you why they were fighting but I can tell you that both riders probably were booted out of the event.
Flemming (Copenhagen, Denmark)
After watching Andy last year desperately trying to pull Fr¤nk onto the podium, I don't think it will affect Andy too much, he still has Fuglsang.
Paul Sherwen (3:18 PM)
Actually I think they would have changed their tactics this year. The team is totally dedicated to Andy and Frank would have been as well.
Scott (Indy)
As someone who has seeing a mountain stage of the Tour on his bucket list, do you have any suggestions for attending?
Paul Sherwen (3:21 PM)
I think the ideal situation is to see the race when it's announced and make sure you book you're hotel as soon as possible. Take a bike out to the stage and campout on the side of the road. Then just sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Meredith (Atlanta)
No question. Just wanted to let you know how much I adore you and Phil. I watch the Tour every morning when I'm spinning on my bike. I have been listening to the two of you every morning for years, and enjoy every minute of your commentary. Thanks for your hard work. And Go Lance!
Paul Sherwen (3:22 PM)
Thank you very much. We enjoy bringing you the coverage and keeping it balanced. We like to bring you the beauty as well as everything else that France has to offer.
Scott (Indy)
Is this race between Contador, Evans and Andy Schleckt?
Paul Sherwen (3:23 PM)
Yes, I would think that they are a good balanced guess. I truely think it will be more between Contador and Andy.
Michele (Seattle)
Honestly Paul do you see Lance being able to make up the time on Contador? I feel like after the flat tire on the cobblestones he looked strong coming back on his own.
Paul Sherwen (3:24 PM)
I think he still looks very strong and it was only bad luck that put him in 18th. He needs to look for some type of tactical move to get him back into this race.
Paul Sherwen (3:26 PM)
Make sure that you stay tuned to Versus because we have a couple more days on the mountain stages. This will show us who the front runners are to win. This should be an exciting couple of days.
