Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:02 PM)
Good afternoon everyone...let's get this partaaaayyyy started!
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Who do you think will win the Virginia 529 Savings 250 & the Air Guard 400 at Richmond?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:03 PM)
I think betting against Kyle Busch in either one of them might be a mistake..Harvick will be a handful in the Nationwide race too and so will Denny Hamlin if he's running it...Hamlin should be tough in the Cup race too.
hey mark, is Reed in the 83 car this week? I have from a few different people that Ekstrom will be in the car instead, have you heard anything on this, thanks.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:04 PM)
Yes, Ekstrom is going to drive the #83. He tested yesterday at North Wilkesboro and they said if it went well he get to run Richmond and apparently everything went okay because they gave him the seat in that car today for Saturday night.
howdy ho mr. garrow. I need your all-knowing advice to help me set a team for yahoo. In the A list, I need two from the following drivers: Hamlin, Kyle, Edwards, and Jeff Gordon. In the B list I need four drivers from the following list: Harvick, burton, Bowyer, Newman, Ambrose and Logano. Finally, I need two drivers from this list: Hornish, Smith, Speed, Kvapil, Gilliland and Sorenson, if he's in the 83 and not that other dude. Thanks for the help sir.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:06 PM)
Kyle and Gordon are the safest picks..Hamlin should be really, really fast...but he was also that fast at Atlanta and look where that got him...Gordon will at least keep it in one piece and finish top-five....Next group Harvick, Burton, Newman, and Bowyer...Bowyer's a nice safe pick for an 8th to 12th place finish because he just needs a place to hide and run out the laps to make the Chase..The other three should challenge to run top-5.
Nick Rolando (Orlando)
Mark it's my senior year of college and I'm tired of playing around in my fantasy league. Even though I'm leading I am coming out guns blazing with the 18-29-31-77 this week. What do you think Mark?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:08 PM)
Well with the way the 77 has finished I thought you were going to say you wanted to go out "in a blaze of glory"..lol...If Allmendinger is in same group as 77 I'd lean that way..Ambrose might be a nice pick as well as Keselowski...other three rock solid baby!
Mark, in a league that gives points for qualifying....who do you think will qualify in the top 3?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:10 PM)
That's really tough because up there a lot depends on qualifying draw...go early yikes...go late yeah....Kyle Busch was pole sitter last time..and should be fast again...Gordon and Johnson are pretty good qualifiers up there too..Maybe Newman.
Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch have dominated Richmond for the last two years? Are they the top picks for this weekend?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:11 PM)
Kyle Busch is my number one pre-race pick as a matter of fact.....and here's my pre-race...top-30......1.Kyle Busch2.Denny Hamlin3.Tony Stewart4.Jeff Gordon5.Kevin Harvick6.Carl Edwards7.Jeff Burton8.Ryan Newman9.Kurt Busch10.Jimmie Johnson11.Martin Truex, Jr.12.Greg Biffle13.Juan Pablo Montoya14.Clint Bowyer15.Jamie McMurray16.Matt Kenseth17.Mark Martin18.David Reutimann19.Marcos Ambrose20.A.J. Allmendinger21.Kasey Kahne22.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.23.Brad Keselowski24.Joey Logano25.David Ragan26.Paul Menard27.Sam Hornish, Jr. 28.Regan Smith29.Elliott Sadler30.Scott Speed
Feelings on Truex and Reutimann running this weekend?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:15 PM)
I think Truex could be a potential dark-horse threat this weekend to certainly run top-10 and probably a little better. He was seventh in May and he earned it. He's fifth in points scored in the four short track races already run this year. Reutimann should also be fast..he's threatened a couple of times to come away with a top finish at Richmond but something always seems to happen to him. It's why he's got only a single top-10 in seven Richmond races...on the plus side was the Bristol runner-up...mixed bag with Reutimann..he's 22nd in points scored on short tracks this year even with that second place finish.
Any sleeper picks for this weekend? Feelings on Scott Speed and AJ Allmendinger?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:16 PM)
I think you may be on to something when you talk about Allmendinger...but I don't see much from Scott Speed. We haven't all year so why now?
Thoughts on how Kahne and Newman will run this weekend?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:18 PM)
I think Newman could be a dark-horse for the win because he's very underrated short track racer..He was eighth in May and he's certainly running more consistently now in my opinion. Really not sure what we'll get from Kahne..He was 21st in the first race this year and is 21st in points scored on short tracks this year.
What's your top 10 for the weekend?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:18 PM)
In case anyone missed it..again my top-30....1.Kyle Busch2.Denny Hamlin3.Tony Stewart4.Jeff Gordon5.Kevin Harvick6.Carl Edwards7.Jeff Burton8.Ryan Newman9.Kurt Busch10.Jimmie Johnson11.Martin Truex, Jr.12.Greg Biffle13.Juan Pablo Montoya14.Clint Bowyer15.Jamie McMurray16.Matt Kenseth17.Mark Martin18.David Reutimann19.Marcos Ambrose20.A.J. Allmendinger21.Kasey Kahne22.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.23.Brad Keselowski24.Joey Logano25.David Ragan26.Paul Menard27.Sam Hornish, Jr. 28.Regan Smith29.Elliott Sadler30.Scott Speed

QUESTION TO MARK GURU GARROW AT 3.25 PM GOOD WEDNESDAY GRETTINGS GURU WHO DOES THEVIRGINIA GURU HAVE FOR RICHMOND SATURDAY
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:19 PM)
Good afternon Ray Gordon...My best guestimate is to go with Kyle Busch...
chip (bethesda md.)
Help. I have been # 1 in my league for 6 straight years and finished in the top 50 overall last year. This year with the dumbed down version of SCC I am getting clobbered by the field fillers in our league. Is ESPN going to change the A and B groups for segment 3 so I can rise from the ashes?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:21 PM)
Chip, I asked the guy who heads up ESPN's fantasy leagues about that this afternoon and I just checked my e-mails and great luck he had just e-mailed me. He said the driver "buckets" will change..I wrote back great because that will be good news to the players.
GURU, Could not help but notice that Jayski Garrow had a BAD week, but Guru Garrow did quite well. Any chance we might see both teams and have a choice on the race day chat? Thanks as always.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:25 PM)
To be honest Richard..not sure about Guru Garrow team..what that is...maybe something I don't even change because the only team I play with is Jayski Garrow, which had a bad week last week...no let's rephrase that.............horrendous is a better word...345...I didn't even know that was possible...lowest score of my life with three of my five having led laps..four of the five spent at least a little time at the front...but nothing came out of it...nothing...I wanted to stab myself in the eye with a fork...I think it would have made me feel better...lol...
Ryan (Ventura CA)
If Smoke wins or even finishes top five, Is he the New Favorite for the chase? Nobody has more of the big Mo then him right now
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:27 PM)
He's rolling now...which was why win at Atlanta was so important..now he's got everybody's attention...because missed he had been top-10 in nine of the previous 11 races..I believe, like you, he's going to be tough to deal with when they drop the rag on the Chase.
Jenny (Elizabethtown LA)
Who will win this week end? Will Jamie McMurray make the chaes?
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:28 PM)
Jenny, Kyle Busch is my number one pre-race pick, which may change on race day for that chat..As for McMurray it will take a miracle for him to get in.
GURU, Guru Garrow is in the Virginia Connection league, but I just checked and the imposter is actually G.Garrow, so my bad. Sorry
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:34 PM)
ah...but I bet the imposter outscored me last week...then again who didn't..lol...that's a tough thing for me..not so much last week..but sometimes I have second thoughts about my team and if I change it after race day chat I get burned for it...if I don't sometimes I get burned that too..
norm (palm springs ca)
Guru, JJ did get out of his summer slump, there is a rumor in the garage that driver's are sandbaggin when they here you picked em, LOL, you will get on track satirday night
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:41 PM)
Gosh..I hope I can blame it on a conspiracy Norm because I was red hot there for while back in May and June and must have flown to close to the sun..lol..
GURU, The great insights you give us each week are not geared towards just your team. You allow for many variables and I don't recall having the exact GURU team in the four years I've been doing SCC, but the facts you present have me beating my buddies three straight. This year it's not going to happen but I put that on the new format. Thanks for the great job you do over the entire season. R
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:49 PM)
Thanks Richard...somethings you can't forecast because you know what is racing man...always has an unpredictable bend to it...but I'll say this without trying to pat myself on the back..No one puts as much effort into digging this stuff out, I will tel you that and the race day crew chief notes no one else has that...which by the way you should give a tip of the cap to ESPN too...They brought me over here to do my thing..they pay me well and hope the players appreciate the service and I believe they do.
I have went from first (200 point lead) to seventh in less than a month following your picks.
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:55 PM)
Dude...I am feeling your pain...I have dropped like a rock following my own advice..as a matter of fact one of my lines from this weeks preview...is that I fell to earth like a turkey dropped from a helicopter you know the line from WKRP in Cincinnati As God is my witness I thought they could fly....or how about this section from the preview.....As for The Guru, I am so emotionally decimated by what happened to my team at Atlanta that I am going to curl up in a fetal position over in the corner and start sucking my thumb. In my scariest nightmares I could never imagine scoring only 345 points."....sorry man..
Kevin cracks me up!!!!
Mark "Guru" Garrow (3:56 PM)
You mean Harvick right?...lol..
Mark "Guru" Garrow (4:01 PM)
Well, I guess that's about going to do it for today...want to remind my "Gurumaniacs"...chat time on race day this is week is Saturday afternoon at 4:00 eastern time..until then I hope everyone has a great week..and will plug us into your computer from Richmond...sad to say it ..but I must...Romeo...Romeo...Where art thou Romeo?..oops..wrong chat...."The Guru has left the building"...
