Paul Kuharsky (3:02 PM)
Greetings folks. How are we all doing? Thanks for coming by.
Paul Kuharsky (3:02 PM)
I'll lean to AFC South questions, and away from fantasy and prediction questions.
Heath (Oboro, KY)
Do you sense relationship with VY and Fish is bad, good, or beyond repair? I get the sense they despise each other.
Paul Kuharsky (3:02 PM)
It's not great.
Peter (Atlanta, GA)
Even though it is still early in the season, is it safe to say that the Jags will finish last in this division?
Paul Kuharsky (3:03 PM)
Based on talent, I'd say yes.
Marc (Washington, DC)
Is Wilson actually hurt enough that Barber needs to start for him, or are the Texans using Wilson's hamstring injury to cover up the severe burns he sustained on Sunday so as to not embarrass him further?I agree that Troy Nolan needs to get a shot--Barber is nothing special.
Paul Kuharsky (3:03 PM)
I don't know and I don't particularly care as long as he's on his way out. Huge mistake not adding a free safety to that team, I think.
Chris (Indianapolis)
Does having the experienced Tyjuan Hagler back in the Colts lineup amount to an upgrade in the run-stopping dpt., over Kavel Conner, and Cody Glenn?
Paul Kuharsky (3:04 PM)
I don't believe so, no. But they needed a guy and he knows what they do and was available.
chris (ann arbor mi)
If (and that's a BIG if) B Sanders makes it back this year will they automatically re-insert him into the lineup or will they play him behind Bullett(which is what they should do)????
Paul Kuharsky (3:05 PM)
I don't think you wait for him all that time to not play him. Bullitt is solid. A healthy Sanders is much more of a playmaker.
Rob (Kentucky)
I think that Witherspoon and Babin have been sufficient replacements for Bulluck and KVB. Do you concur? Also, there have been a lot of questions about who will fill the leadership void. Besides the obvious, who has stepped up as a leader on and off the field for the Titans?
Paul Kuharsky (3:05 PM)
I think they've done great work as the replacements. I don't have a full sense of the leadership situation yet, early still.
E (The World) [via mobile]
After a couple years, do you now admit finally that Joseph Addai stinks? I mean seriously...this dude runs like his feet hurt; he's timid; and he's James Allen. Addai continues the list of players from that LSU chip team who just flat out stink; are busts; or just flat out overrated. So please...just admit it, my friend!
Paul Kuharsky (3:07 PM)
Nope. I actually think he might be the most underrated skill player in the division. I thought in the first two games he cut hard and looked decisive. His pass protection can be fantastic and a real security blanket for Manning. Don't think of him in fantasy terms and don't compare him to Edge if you want s true appreciation. Look at what's asked of him.
Shaun (Tn)
The Titans D looks good for 3 games... a lot of bend but not break stuff, which is fine. They do seem to be running a lot of nickel packages. Is this due to the McRath suspension? And once he comes back, which linebacker is the odd man out in the nickel packages? Witherspoon seems to be a great pass rusher, Tulloch is good in coverage, and McRath is suppose to be a potential stud.
Paul Kuharsky (3:08 PM)
That is an excellent question. I think it will be McRath at the start as they see how he comes back. Then? Tough, tough call. And maybe Fuller plays a little less.
chris (ann arbor mi)
Hey Paul, Linkenbach filled pretty well for C Johnson at left tackle...what are the chances the colts keep him at left tackle and move johnson back to guard where he is more effective and can help in the run game????
Paul Kuharsky (3:09 PM)
I talked to Polian yesterday and have a column up off of our conversation. No indications there that they'd look to Charlie inside, not that it couldn't happen. I think Richard probably ranks as the weak link right now.
Darrell (Nashville)
So obviously the Titans aren't going to sign a CB before this week's game. But assuming the backups aren't satisfactory on Sunday, what do you think the chances are that they bring someone in next week? Are any serviceable corners even available?Ryan Mouton scares me.
Paul Kuharsky (3:10 PM)
Very few options out there and very few teams have a great fifth corner. They could sign the kid from the practice squad.
Darrell (Nashville)
I've heard a lot since the Giants game about how the Titans are such a chippy/fiesty/ dirty team. As someone who watches every minute of every game I'm not going to completely disagree. But are they really that much worse than most other teams in this regard? If so, do you think this is something that Fisher directly preaches (to get into the opposing team's heads and bait them into penalties) or is it merely a result of the physical style his teams are known for and the personalities of his players?
Paul Kuharsky (3:11 PM)
I think it's been incredibly overplayed. What's baiting? Who doe3sn't want to egg an opponent into a stupid penalty. Titans are a feisty team with guys like Finnegan, but you get a flag, it's on you not the guy who "made" you do it.
Zach (Nashville)
What's your honest opinion on Jeff Fisher? Has he missed his real opportunities with the Titans to reach and win the Super Bowl years ago, or do you think he has a chance to do it still? Ever since the Pittsburgh loss fans and analysts on the radio have started to turn against him. I like Jeff. Great Guy. Good Coach. But what has he done? Titans are up one season, Titans are down the next, I would say season to season the Titans are probably the most inconsistent team in the NFL. So in honest opinion: Have the Titans gone as far as they can as an organization with Jeff Fisher as coach? Has he hit his ceiling of success?
Paul Kuharsky (3:14 PM)
You'd rather they be consistent like, say, the Lions, Bills, Chiefs, Raiders, Texans, Redskins, Niners or Rams? I think he's a good coach who's team has blown its best playoff opportunities. I think he's be hired in two seconds by one of 10 teams if he was cut free. If the ceiling is to go to the playoffs every couple years, there are worse ceilings. He needs to win when he gets there. So do a lot of franchises.
Inquiring Minds (Houston, TX)
Isn't a fatter Schoebel better than an non-existent opposite of Mario? Someone has to step up, and we have not seen ANYTHING thru week 3. Your thoughts?
Paul Kuharsky (3:15 PM)
Barwin injury was a killer. I can't believe they wouldn't say Schobel, get in shape and let's go. I can't believe he wouldn't stay in shape in case an opportunity came knocking. They've got to rush better.
Harry (NJ)
Whats up with Pierre Garcon? He was such acontributor last year and hes done nothing this year. Hes had a large drop off in targets.
Paul Kuharsky (3:16 PM)
Hard to be a target when you're inactive like he was last week and could be this week with a hamstring injury.
matthew (arlington, VA)
Paul I love your posts, thanks for what you do. I am a Titans fan and have been since they moved to Nashville. Over the past couple of years the most consistent unit has been the offensive line. This year however there seems to have been a drop off. I wondered if Jeff Fisher was too confident in Amano and/or Harris's abilities to start. What would you suggest is the big reason for the lack of offensive line play so far?
Paul Kuharsky (3:17 PM)
Two bad games. Eugene Amano is still adjusting to the move. Jake Scott had a tough game in NY with three penalties. But Leroy Harris is a beast and by season's end I bet they rank as a top group again.
David (Toronto/Ontario/Canada)
Let's say that the season goes south for the Titans and Vince Young plays poorly. Would they cut him in the offseason? If so, would they draft a quarterback or turn over the team to some combination of a veteran+Rusty Smith?
Paul Kuharsky (3:18 PM)
I think they have to decide on him based on this year and his first five years and either pledge to go forward with him or cut bait. If it's B I would think they'd look to pair a veteran with Smith hoping for smith to be the guy soon.
Josh C (Louisville)
Houston cleaned the floor with the Colts, but barely put up a W against Washington (they did about as well as the Rams did against Washington), and lost to Dallas. Oakland got killed by the Titans, played about as well as the Rams in a win in week 2, and barely lost a race against Arizona. I know the dominating talk says the Texans are the better team, but I'm not so sure. What do you think?
Paul Kuharsky (3:19 PM)
I think I don't see a column in the standings for "Barely won" or "Barely lost" and that the Texans and Titans are both 2-1, with the Texans having better wins -- one in opponent beaten, one in fashion won.
MikeS (Brentwood)
I admit that VY screwed up with missing the meetings. I admit that he is not the QB that I want running my team (give me Rodgers any day). Having said that, he is what the Titans have this year...no way Fisher/Adams makes a change. So why not defer the whole "he really screwed up" talk until his contract comes up when we can do something about it?
Paul Kuharsky (3:20 PM)
So because they have no alternative he gets a free pass? And if he misses meetings I should say it's no big deal because they can't pull him? You're thinking like Vince is, I think.
Trevor (Denver)
You saw Peyton pick on Perish Cox this week, right? I mean he went after him. After the game he nonchalantly said that he didn't, saying that he was just going through his progressions, but it was pretty clear, right?
Paul Kuharsky (3:21 PM)
Rarely does someone admit they went after a guy. They feel it's disrespectful. But you know it happened if you watched and paid attention.
Arian Foster (Houston) [via mobile]
Am I to be taken seriously or am I a fluke?
Paul Kuharsky (3:21 PM)
Very seriously, chief.
Marc (Washington, DC)
More secondary questions. Who on earth is Paymah? Does he represent any kind of an upgrade in the secondary at all?
Paul Kuharsky (3:22 PM)
Friend of mine who've covered him say he's horrible. Better than Wall maybe?
Nick (IN)
Do you see Manning being able to maintain his high level of play even into his very late 30s and maybe 40 or 41?
Paul Kuharsky (3:22 PM)
I certainly do.
Bob (Washington DC)
Do you think the Colts loss to Houston was an early-season defense shake-down run or will Houston really command the AFC east this year?
Paul Kuharsky (3:22 PM)
Off one win I never expected them to command the AFC South.
Dave (Memphis)
The Titans need to utilize Play Action on first down more often. With CJ back there everyone is expecting you to run, and lately it hasn't been as effective. It seemes defense know that we are going to run and when we are going to pass. We need more creativity in our offensive playbook. I think more Play Action, options, and Reverses would be greatly beneficial for our Team and for Vince as well. Thoughts on the Titans offense and their use of faking plays with CJ.
Paul Kuharsky (3:23 PM)
This horrific offensive day in NY produced a 19-point win, let's remember.
Peter (Atlanta, GA)
Between Colts, Texans, and Titans, who is your early pick for odd man out come playoff time?
Paul Kuharsky (3:24 PM)
Preseason I didn't have a second team making the playoffs out of the division. I can't go changing this soon, can I.
Carl (NJ)
Can you explain the wording of the VY report that he was unprepared for Pittsburgh? It says that he "missed and/or was late for at least two meetings". Well, he was excused from one to be with McNair's sons, so doesn't that mean he was just late for one team meeting? That's a bit of a loaded statement, don't you think? It doesn't even say how late he was for the meeting, but I guess it was significant enough if they reported it. Still, doesn't this seem a little blown out of proportion? If it was really such an issue, Fisher wouldn't have started Young at all.
Paul Kuharsky (3:27 PM)
I don't understand how you could think such a report is including the excused absence. In addition to the excused absence, he was late and he missed. He was late back from the excused absence. He missed a Friday meeting. That's my understanding. Digging to report such stuff is hard. You think someone is giving Jim Wyatt a minute by minute countdown? He's a tremendous reporter and judged it news. I judge it big news. That Fisher started Young anyway is part of the story. Look at the messages sent, the double standards, etc.
Heath (Oboro, KY)
Please elaborate on VY Fish relationship. Not gossip, but I don't think that question/situation has been truly stated or examined by media members. Also, hasn't been examined as to team effects as well. Bulluck's comments I thought shed light on some things.
Paul Kuharsky (3:28 PM)
He's a quarterback in his fifth year who's limited and unreliable. What head coach has a good relationship with a guy fitting that description?
Brian (Notanidiotville)
Can I flag the morons wanting to call out Sanders and Addai's talent as being sub-par? What in the world are these people watching, cause it certainly isn't football.
Paul Kuharsky (3:28 PM)
You may.
Brian (TX)
Who do you think gets the lion share of playing time this Sunday. Troy Nolan or Dominique Barber?
Paul Kuharsky (3:29 PM)
They're starting Barber, so I don't know why I'd predict Nolan to get any time, better yet more time than Barber. Did they say they will both play?
Charlie Johnson (Indy)
Paul, please pass this on to your fans. You can call me Charles, Charlie, or even Chuck, but please don't refer to me as "C Johnson". It's confusing. Especially in a chat about the AFC South, where there's this other C Johnson guy that some people have heard of...
Paul Kuharsky (3:31 PM)
I refer to him when talking Colts as C. Johnson sometimes to differentiate him from A. Johnson, as in Antonio.
Steve (Albany NY)
Will you be in Nashville this weekend covering the Titans Broncos game? If so do you do any appearances?
Paul Kuharsky (3:31 PM)
Appearances? Wow, that's nice of you to think anyone would want me to appear. I'm at Colts-Jaguars Sunday.
Finley (Via Mobile)
Fisher said on his show this week to read a book instead of listen to you. Can I get a library card for Simon and me?
Paul Kuharsky (3:32 PM)
Simon brought a book home from "school" this week. You may read it with us tonight. It's about a mouse having lunch.
Heath (Oboro KY)
I get the whole "other Franchises would have hired Fish if he were fired" argument. However, with that mentality Harbaugh wouldn't have been hired, Tomlin possibly not, Rex Ryan. Sorry, I'm not impressed with Fisher. The Texans and Jax ineptness have kept him around. Fisher's act is tired. (Marty Schottenheimer, Jr).
Paul Kuharsky (3:35 PM)
Could have had Tomlin, Ryan, Harbaugh, Smith. Also could have had Cameron, Haslett, Turner, Edwards, Zorn, Mora, Nolan, Singletary, Linehan, Gailey, Jauron, Mularkey. It's easy to cherry pick the good names, no?
Jeff Fisher (Titans Radio Show)
Put the book down, Kuharsky is a sage who we should all listen to for his winsome words and limitless football wisdom.
Paul Kuharsky (3:36 PM)
Thanks Jeff. Good of you to stop by.
Jack Del Dio (Jax, FL)
Will I still be coaching next week?
Paul Kuharsky (3:36 PM)
I don't know that there is a great benefit to a change during the season. But if you lose this one and at Buffalo, maybe.
Dave (Memphis)
Paul, I Never referred to NY Giants game or called the offense horrific. You never answered my questions. I am wondering if you think as a whole if we would benefit by faking runs to CJ more?
Paul Kuharsky (3:36 PM)
Sure. I'd also like him to be split wide more.
Jason (Murfreesboro)
Why was A. Verner not drafted until the 4th round. What was the knock against him? He looks like the real deal to me and a steal for the Titans. I wanted him to start over McCourtey but looks like he'll get his shot now. I bet McCourtey doesn't get his job back.
Paul Kuharsky (3:37 PM)
Speed was the knock. He doesn't have good deep speed.
jay thomas (Pittsburgh)
Hey are the titans ever going to use jared cook i mean why did they move up to take him if we never use him that sucks he is big and fast can you say antonio Gates whats going on with the speedy WR we need more of them
Paul Kuharsky (3:37 PM)
Some guys have to wait until they get it and then they get opportunity. I don't know how often I'd put him on the field ahead of Scaife if I wasn't positive I could rely on him.
Mark (Carlstadt, NJ)
What is your opinion the Titans' use of the option play? Smart utilization of VY and CJ's running ability or outdated and usually unsuccessful?
Paul Kuharsky (3:38 PM)
I'd run it four times a game if I got the right look. To threaten teams with it and see if there is a play there. I don't like gimmicks. But with a limited quarterback, you do what you have to.
Harish (Fargo ND)
Paul, I heard good things about colts D before the season, but so far they have just been average. Where are they slipping up?
Paul Kuharsky (3:39 PM)
They'd had some good areas. Six points allowed in five red zone trips by Denver is good defense, no? Still jelling. Have been without Session for two games. Were expecting to have Sanders. Still settling down.
Alterraun Verner (Nashvegas)
I need a nickname for my 1st NFL start. I was thinking "all-terrain" or maybe "applied physics." Got any good ones (not Scooter)?
Paul Kuharsky (3:39 PM)
Scooter! That guy was early favorite for chatter of the year. Do we think he was serious?
Bjerre (Los Angeles)
2 questions....The Colts defense has great QB pressure and sack ability outside. While the Jags offense has been Anemic. Are they a solid pick for defense this week or should i stick with the Eagle seeing as there facing Mcnabb for the first time!Thomas, Matthews, and Greene" I'd probably go Colts.Paul Kuharsky
Brian (TX)
Yes the Texans website has Kubiak saying Barber and Nolan will replace Wilson but didnt say who would be playing more.
Paul Kuharsky (3:41 PM)
Well I certainly hope it's more Nolan. We don't know how he is. We've seen Barber.
Jason (Murfreesboro)
Saw a game last week when a coach threw a flag to challenge if there were 12 men on the field (I think the Dolphins/Jets game). I was under the impression that you couldn't challenge a penalty or challenge to have a penalty called. What's the rule on that?
Paul Kuharsky (3:41 PM)
It's an exception.
Derek (Transplant to Jax)
Do you think all the plug and play success at wide reciever for the colts will tarnish the legacy of Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne? I know some dont see it that way, myself included, but it sure does feel like Peyton Manning can make anyone look good.
Paul Kuharsky (3:42 PM)
Well let's take it the other way. If you put Harrison on another team, would he have been a tremendous receiver? Yes. Wayne? Yes. Some of these others, I don't think so.
Kevin (Louisiana)
I've watched every game this year and even the cut-ups on the Sunday Ticket and it seems like CJ has altered his running style a bit. Now he is getting hit in the backfield alot but he is also missing some cut back runs, he appears to be trying to shutter to the hole then hit the homerun... so far, he has basically hit one every game (sans the holding call against Pitt).. Can CJ help the running game by looking for the 5 or 6 yard gains as opposed to the homerun every carry?
Paul Kuharsky (3:43 PM)
Would you rather have 10 six yard runs or one 60 yard run? He can do better than he's done, but I'm OK with the home run idea so long as he keeps hitting them.
Baltimore (Ravens)
Statement: I am getting a little tired of Rex Ryan steeling all of our players. Didnt he know we just let Trevor Pryce go for the weekend?
Paul Kuharsky (3:44 PM)
Good for the Jets.
JW (NO)
I would hire you to "Appear" at my Halloween party. You would be great at scaring the kids.
Paul Kuharsky (3:44 PM)
Email me about the pay.
Tony (Nashville)
What's your confidence in Verner covering Denver's receivers? He has big play potential but I'm scared of him getting beat deep on a veteran move.
Paul Kuharsky (3:45 PM)
I think he's good, I think he knows how to cover for lack of speed and the Titans will give him help.
Cameron (TN)
LOL at you basically telling VY that he got benched for missing meetings, after he said he had no idea why he was benched. To be fair though, isn't it more likely that he was benched for his horrid play that game? It was pretty clear by the 3rd quarter that he would not be leading the Titans to victory. I really don't think missing the meetings had anything to do with it. Had he been lighting it up he would have finished the game. While I see missing and being late to meetings as a BIG deal and a red flag, I don't see it being a factor in the benching, aside from missing meetings having possibly contributed to his poor play. So it was involved in the benching, but not THE CAUSE of the benching. Agree?
Paul Kuharsky (3:46 PM)
Involved in but certainly not the singular cause. He plays that poorly after a full week and maybe they are more prone to stick it out with him and let him learn from it.
Rob (Green Cove Springs, FL)
Bill Polian has said some nice things about Gene Smith (your column today, for instance). I'm a Jags season ticket holder for the past 4 years & I'm happy with the direction of the team in the past 2 offseasons. Why are our fans so impatient? Why can't they see a good thing is a year or two away? I think Polian can be an arrogant jerk, but he knows personnel. If a guy like Polian is saying the Jags are doing it right, after years of doing it wrong - give it time!
Paul Kuharsky (3:47 PM)
I think the fans have the right to be upset that the Jaguars didn't position themselves better at quarterback. And losing and getting creamed are two different things on the way to a rebuild.
Harish (Fargo ND)
Why does colts always have lot of injuries. Over the past 5 years, they always seem to have people dinged up more than any team in the league. Do you think the medical staff is not doing a great job?
Paul Kuharsky (3:48 PM)
I think they have a lot of smaller guys and smaller guys tend may get hurt more often when they are dealing with bigger guys. Crazy to suggest medical staff isn't getting it done. And a lot of it is luck or lack of it.
Paul Kuharsky (3:48 PM)
Keep in mind Manning's not been hurt, Wayne is always out there, Saturday's surgery was his first, etc.
Vince Young (Nashville)
Paul, I told Jim Wyatt yesterday that I don't read the papers, but I follow your column. What can I do to show I'm the real thing when only four pass plays were called in the first quarter? I know it makes my completion and rating look good. I mean, I didn't even get to do my option play. Please help.
Paul Kuharsky (3:49 PM)
Maybe they only call four pass plays because they are scared of you. Practice better and earn chances like everyone else instead of feeling entitled.
Josh C (Nashville)
AlTerraun Verner = ATV
Paul Kuharsky (3:50 PM)
A lot better than "Scooter," I'll give you that.
Daniel (Durham, NC)
With the Trent Edwards acquisition, are the Jags still looking for a QB in the next draft or will they go after defensive backs?
Paul Kuharsky (3:50 PM)
Edwards isn't a long-term answer. He got cut by the Bills! They definitely draft a QB high next year.
Scott (Lafayette, IN)
Do you think Austin Collie's production can stay this high throughout the season, or are we just seeing these results due to the injuries at the WR position?
Paul Kuharsky (3:51 PM)
He's not going to catch a dozen balls a week, but he'll be productive.
Kevin Costner (Hollywood)
Seriously, Scooter as the early favorite for chatter of the year? Have you already forgotten the Summer of Costner that you just enjoyed?
Paul Kuharsky (3:51 PM)
By "year," I meant "season."
ben (LA)
Any chance there is a new starting QB other than VY next season?
Paul Kuharsky (3:52 PM)
Absolutely.
Trent Edwards (via mobile)
PK, how come you haven't welcomed Captain Checkdown (me) to the AFC South yet?
Paul Kuharsky (3:52 PM)
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Trent Edwards. I was at a game where he threw it great against the Jags and beat them, and I thought he was going to be quite good.
Scott (Lafayette, IN)
How many yards will MJD put on the Colts this week? 400?
Paul Kuharsky (3:52 PM)
Five hundred and seventy-eight.
Mad Mike (H-Town (via Boston at this time))
Paul: Been awhile, I want your opinion on defensing the Titans. Do you think all oponents will make V-Why beat them instead of letting CJ run wild? Also, I agree with you, Nolan needs to be the guy.....Thanks........MM
Paul Kuharsky (3:53 PM)
The Titans have to hit home runs over the top to back people off, of course. Nolan very popular.
Adam (Shelbyville)
What do you feel are the key things the Titans will need to do to beat Denver on Sunday? Also, are you enjoying the new gig at ESPN as opposed to the Tennessean?
Paul Kuharsky (3:54 PM)
Have to slow the pass and drive the football. Love this job, but it's not new anymore. This is my third season.
Reggie (Colorado Colts Fan)
Any word on an injury to Dwight Freeney??? He was limping terribly after the game here at Invesco?
Paul Kuharsky (3:54 PM)
He was rested yesterday but not listed with an injury.
Wycheck Lover (Nashville, TN)
Paul, saw your question to VY yesterday after practice. He seems evasive and defensive in interviews. Very unprofessional. Do the Titans organization offer him advice on media relations and generally acting like a professional. Doesn't seem like it.
Paul Kuharsky (3:56 PM)
Remember VY on "60 Minutes?" "Can't nobody tell me nothing." They have great media advisers in the building. I don't think he's soliciting their help.
Trent Edwards (J-ville)
did I just go from a potential 2 win team to a potential 4 win team? wow, guess I must be living right...
Paul Kuharsky (3:57 PM)
Another three years at that rate...
Paul (Evansville, IN)
Can't help but notice you answer more questions in an hour than your blogger brethren. Congrats on your prolification. Anyway, your impressions of Blair White. Liked him in college and hoped he'd make the team.
Paul Kuharsky (3:58 PM)
I take pride in being quick. Nice debut by White. But Colts fans should root that he never is needed again.
Wycheck Lover (Nashville, TN)
My brother uses that quote from VY all the time. "Can't nobody tell me nuthin' " I am afraid that is going to be his legacy in TN. If they had to decide today, do the Titans offer him a new contract?
Paul Kuharsky (3:58 PM)
I don't believe so.
Allen (Houston)
Rashad butler was a pleasant surprise no?
Paul Kuharsky (3:59 PM)
I thought he held his own, yes. One or two bad pass plays. But you expect that in a first start.
Vince (Nashville Tn)
"They?re writing my story. I?m a great guy, a great humble guy."
Paul Kuharsky (4:00 PM)
Vince is humble... It's always Vince, Vince, Vince.
Franklin (Nashville)
Answer a Nashvillian's question. What has the big time done to you? You are just annoying to listen to on the morning show in Nashville. Why are you so angry?
Paul Kuharsky (4:01 PM)
I guess I will let you know if I am ever big time. I prefer to think of myself as cynical. And it's the nature of a commentator or analyst to be cynical. I'm not going to be holding pom-poms and working with T-Rac any time soon. I'm not your guy if that's what you want.
JB (TX)
PK, you're usually fair on VY, but come on, he is 10-3 since being reinserted as a starter, and I'd say only had 2 poor games total (SD last yr, and obviously PIT). Can we at least get to week 8 or so before deciding his fate for the season? I'm just sayin...
Paul Kuharsky (4:03 PM)
I guess he can rebound. But I said he needed to avoid drama this season and just play, just play 16 games. And it took two weeks for drama. All this defense about the good record needs some context on quality of opponents. Which I will provide tomorrow.
T-RAC (Nashville, TN)
Paul, I would love to have you on the team!!!!
Paul Kuharsky (4:04 PM)
Let me guess: I'd wear the jersey of the opponent and you'd run me over in your little car? with a bunch of baby squirrels helping you? So original.
Christine (Houston)
Are the Texans finally a relevant team in the NFL? I'm still not sure if I can trust they will be consistent.
Paul Kuharsky (4:04 PM)
Too early to say.
The Ellipses (...)
PK...there is nothing wrong...with being...cynical...keep up the good work...we miss you...but at least...you're better...than that Graham guy...
Paul Kuharsky (4:04 PM)
Does it sound like Obama when read that way?
Wycheck Lover (Nashville, TN)
How much work does Rusty Smith get in practice on a weekly basis? When will they decide if he is a legit QB of the future?
Paul Kuharsky (4:05 PM)
Post on that later today. He gets the scout team work after Collins. Not nothing. But he's not running any Tennessee offense right now.
Fili Moala (Relevance)
Questions of my being a bust were over-anticipatory? (Has actually provided an inside pass rush at times, an extreme outlier for interior Colts D-Linemen)
Paul Kuharsky (4:06 PM)
No one is a bust in his first season.
Ben (IN)
Do you think it would be best to sit Andre against Oakland? High ankle sprains are usually pretty serious and it'd difficult to see him being that productive against Asomugha. Should Kubiak rest him?
Paul Kuharsky (4:07 PM)
If he can play, he should play. Huge mistake to say Oh, it's Oakland and it's Nnamdi and we can do without.
Franklin (Nashville)
Speaking of the Texans. Do you think Arian Foster is an elite NFL running back this year? For years to come?
Paul Kuharsky (4:08 PM)
I do not think he is a fluke. I'm not going to say he's a huge career guy yet. Steve Slaton was no fluke and what became of him?
JB (TX)
Well you can only play who's on the schedule, right? That's why I said wait till week 8. He messed up, got punished, then the next game they won by 19 on the road. But yeah, 4 of those wins last yr were vs. the NFC West.
Paul Kuharsky (4:09 PM)
I have less patience than many people who follow this team. Also they don't have an alternative.
Paul Kuharsky (4:09 PM)
OK folks, good stuff. Read the blog. Follow on Twitter. Friend on Facebook. Enjoy the games.
