Dan Arritt (3:59 PM)
Hey everyone, getting ready to watch the Kings take on the Flyers tonight. It has been two years since the Flyers have played at Staples Center, and both teams are in fourth place in their respective conferences, so it should be one of those "playoff-type" atmospheres. Anyway, go ahead and lob me some questions and I'll see if I can answer 'em.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Will the 2011 Winter Classic Scheduled for New Year's Day at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh be Cancelled?
Dan Arritt (4:02 PM)
According to the latest reports, they're still anticipating rain in Pittsburgh, but it appears they're planning to postpone the game until later in the evening, rather than just cancel it. Too bad the weather is becoming the news. And too bad Sidney Crosby won't have his point streak for the announcers to gush over.
Geoff (Hermosa Beach)
What kind of game will the Kings play tonight after last nights beat down?
Dan Arritt (4:04 PM)
Well Geoff, if it were just the Kings coming off a bad game, than I'd feel real good about them winning. But....the Flyers have played two bad games in row and they might be doubly agitated coming in. That said, I think it will be a good, hard-checking game from start to finish. I think the Kings will win, 2-1, in overtime.
Mike J. (Philly)
How's Marco fitting in?
Dan Arritt (4:06 PM)
Ya know, I was a little suspect with Marco Sturm, but he's proving to be a genuine great addition, especially up on the front line with Kopitar and Brown. Since joining those two, he has two goals and an assist in three games. That might just turn out to be another Dean Lombardi steal.
Is it me, or do the Kings have trouble getting up for bad teams?
Dan Arritt (4:09 PM)
No, it's not you Stella. The Kings are a young, talented team, and sometimes young, talented teams get into the habit of believing they can just show up against the average teams and win with an average effort. I think the Kings are quickly learning that's not the case, especially after the beat down they took in Phoenix last night.
Will (Mission Viejo)
I was at the game Sunday and the puck was takin bad hops all over the place. Is that normal.
Dan Arritt (4:11 PM)
That's not uncommon, Will. It's no secret Staples Center has bad ice most of the time, something the best Zamboni in the world can't fix. You have to remember, the Kings are the only team in the NHL that shares their facility with TWO NBA teams. I was watching the changeover from the Clippers game to the Kings game Sunday, and the ice gets pretty abused by the workers.
Who will lead the Kings in scoring this season and how many???
Dan Arritt (4:13 PM)
My guess is Kopitar will lead the team again. He just creates so many opportunities for himself and others. I'm guessing, if he stays healthy, will get close to 90 points this season. I think Dustin Brown and Justin Williams will be close to him in goals scored, probably about 32 each.
Did you see that mean gash to Getzaf's head?
Dan Arritt (4:15 PM)
No, I didn't see the play (or a replay). Just got word that Ryan Getzlaf of the Ducks will be placed in IR with multiple fractures in his sinuses. Doesn't sound good.
Jill (Los Angeles)
What team is the most exciting to watch these days, the Clippers or Kings.
Dan Arritt (4:18 PM)
What, not the Lakers? I get what you're saying though. The Clippers are definitely the talk of the town with Blake Griffin flying all over the place. The Kings are right there too, it's just that hockey doesn't dominate the conversation in L.A. as much as basketball. If this were Toronto, it would be a no-brainer, Kings all the way.
Chad (Las Vegas)
What happened to Quick last night, he killed my over-under??
Dan Arritt (4:21 PM)
That was just a fluke, I'm guessing. Jason LaBarbera once told me that half the time goalies don't even see the puck, it just hits them in the chest. I'm guessing the shots just didn't hit him in the chest.
Dan Arritt (4:22 PM)
That's it for today folks, got a little breaking news to write about. Check back later for the details, and tune in tonight to read more on the Kings game. See ya
