Today is the last night of games before the All-Star Game, hopefully we'll have some great stories to tell.
WTE (New Hampshire)
I like the All-Star format where the captains get to pick teams. What's your take?
Barry Melrose (3:47 PM)
I applaud the NHL for trying something different and it has created some buzz. Hopefully it will be a great game and the fans will love the format.
Paul (Greenville, SC)
Hey Barry, With the 'promotion of Jeff Skinner as a replacement for the big ASG, does this mean he's the frontrunner for the Calder as of now?
Barry Melrose (3:48 PM)
He's right up there, I say top three. He's getting stronger and is playing well all the time. If you ask me, he's one of the three finalists for the Calder.
Is the 'C' weighing on Ovechkin and are the Caps lacking leadership? Just curious on your thoughts.
Barry Melrose (3:50 PM)
No, I think they will get their ship straightened out. They are trying to change the way they play, some nights it works and some nights it doesn't. They're gambling hoping this style works come playoff time.
What team that is currently in the running for the playoffs is more likely to get knocked out of them?
Barry Melrose (3:51 PM)
There are four teams in the West that are in the playoff run right now that might not make it. in the East, I'm going with Atlanta. They are in a slump and this is not the best time to not be playing well especially with the way Carolina is playing now.
Is Savard's career over?
Barry Melrose (3:52 PM)
I think he has to make a decision. He's made a lot of money and if he retires he'll get a good insurance check. It seems that every time he gets hit, he gets a concussion. I think its time for him to take a serious at whether he still should play or not.
if it's a Vancouver/Philly Stanley Cup who wins?
Barry Melrose (3:53 PM)
That could easily happen because both team are playing well right now. I picked Vancouver at the start of the season and I'm going to stick with them. That would be a fantastic Finals.
Never thought i would be saying the words Devils and playoffs in the same sentence this year, but do you think if this play continues they have a shot?
Barry Melrose (3:54 PM)
They would have to win just about every game from here on out and about four teams would have to lose all the rest of their games for that to happen.
Hey Barry, where have you been? Who do you like tonight with the Devils and Detroit? Do the Devils keep rolling against the banged up wings?
Barry Melrose (3:55 PM)
I like Detroit. The Devils are on a winning streak but the Wings need this win. I think they will find a way to sneak out these two points.
Charles (Taunton, MA)
Barry, great work as always...my question is do you think the Bruins are ready to take the next step and be a Stanley Cup contender
Barry Melrose (3:57 PM)
I think they are Stanley Cup contenters. Don't forget they made it to the ECF last season. They are a good team that could make it.
What do you think about the Rangers this year? They won't win the Stanley cup but do you think they can make a little run in the playoffs?
Barry Melrose (3:58 PM)
They are a dangerous team. Their goaltending is good and their defense has been revamped. This team scores enough that they can be dangerous. They have a good thing going right now.
Barry Melrose (3:59 PM)
I hope everyone watches the All-Star game and enjoys it. We should have a great second half to the season. Sorry I have to cut this short but I have some TV obligations.
