Johnny, what did you think of the race yesterday?
Johnny Benson (1:31 PM)
I thought the race at the end was pretty cool to see Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch. Kyle had a great weekend. It just shows you how good Gordon was yesterday.
How big of a win was that for Jeff?
Johnny Benson (1:32 PM)
Jeff is a four time champion and he can win a race at any time. I think it's a little more surprising that he hasn't won one. It was just a great job for him all day. The team has the talent. He has the talent. It was well deserved and a long time coming. People forget that even though it's been something like 66 races since he won, he's had 6, 7, 8, 10 second place finishes. He's always been right there.

Hey Johnny! I was wondering they say Darlington is to tough to tame can you tell me why this is and what makes this track so difficult compared to say a Phoenix or Richmond?
Johnny Benson (1:33 PM)
Darlington is tough. It's fast. Each end is very different from each other. Turn 2 coming down the hill, to me, is a bit messed up. But in general, the track has been hard because the asphalt has been worn out and you slip and slide a lot. With the new asphalt it's become easier, but still challenging.
Why was Daytona so different with the two by two racing?
Johnny Benson (1:34 PM)
I'll say it was strange also. I don't understand 100% why two cars were so much better than a full pack like it used to be. With the end of the race coming down like it did, I can't say it was worse of a race, but I can't saw how much better it was. It was just different than the past. It definitely changed the strategy on how you ran the race.
Chris (Crestview, FL)
I have seen on TV that you have been helping Danica Patrick at the races. How is she to work with? Do you think she will have what it takes to make it in NASCAR once she gets some more experience under her belt?
Johnny Benson (1:36 PM)
With enough time given, I think she can make it in NASCAR, at least some part. Which series is she best suited for? I'm not sure. So far, she's been great to work with. One token is it's only been one race. I don't know her limitations and what she needs help with. I'm working through that part of it to get her the best help that she needs.

Johnny, What do you think of NASCAR's lack of transparency with the fans(i.e. never show the readout if some1 speeds on pit road etc etc)
Johnny Benson (1:37 PM)
I don't think that TV would have access to that. That is something that's on the monitor that NASCAR has up in the tower. I have seen it. So, it does exist. It's a very simple system. If you're speeding through a segment, it flashes on the screen and it's red. I don't think that TV is going to walk up in there and take pictures of the monitors that they're using.
What do you think of Gordon teaching Kyle a lesson how to properly race for the win in the closing laps. Kyle has a history of causing a wreck for the win.
Johnny Benson (1:39 PM)
I've got a lot of respect for both racers. Sometimes contact will happen. And sometimes it's more at one time than at others. I feel Jeff would have gotten by no matter what. Him touching him and sliding up wasn't really a factor. If it had been, Kyle would have mentioned it. It was great to see them both race hard like that at the end.
Ryan (Vienna, WV)
If Jeff Gordon wins BIG for NASCAR?
Johnny Benson (1:39 PM)
It doesn't hurt. The big win for Trevor Bayne at Daytona was a big positive for NASCAR, possibly more than Jeff's. It's a huge deal for Jeff to win a race. It's going to be huge for him to be in the Chase and have a shot at the championship.
Chris (Crestview, FL)
Any luck getting a truck ride? We miss seeing you out there man!
Johnny Benson (1:41 PM)
Well, no luck at the moment. A couple of things still working. The Truck series and the other series for a lot of us, money is king. If you can bring money, you can have any ride you want. I'm not in that position and I don't have the sponsorship in my back pocket to go and do that. As soon as I get something that's possible to go and win races and possibly win a championship, I'd go in a heart beat.
Kevin (near Milwaukee)
JB, do you have any insight on the incident yesterday between the 17 & 83? As an observer, to me it looked more or less like a "racing deal" where guys got loose and made contact, but the way BV was talking, it seemed like Matt said something about his mama. Is there more there than meets the eye?
Johnny Benson (1:42 PM)
I saw what appeared to be, on every angle that I saw, it was almost a non racing incident. I was surprised by the outcome. I don't think the 17 should be blamed for anything that happened there. It ended up cutting the 83's tire and that's his reasoning for losing the car more than the bump itself.
RAY (ALABAMA ):
When will you be back in a truck racing? How did coaching Danica this past weekend come about? Do you think she has the right stuff, i.e. driving ability to become good nascar driver?
Johnny Benson (1:44 PM)
That's the biggest part that we're working on, taking her IndyCar driving skills to the stock car. You drive them both differently. Coming off the corner. The setups in general. The IndyCar has a tremendous amount of adjustments that they can do during the race and the stock car has no adjustments when you're in a race. Therefore, putting the practice in the stock car is a premium.
What shuld we expect this weekend?
Johnny Benson (1:45 PM)
I'm not sure yet. Everybody is going to be talking about Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch winning races after being involved in an accident. What does next week bring us? I don't know yet. I have a feeling Gordon, Kyle Busch, Jimmie, Edwards will all be up front battling just like week in, week out.
Johnny Benson (1:46 PM)
I'm glad everybody is out there tuning in and watching racing. Just being a fan of the sport. We love fans for that and I appreciate everyone supporting me.
