Dick Vitale (11:12 AM)
Good morning. Sorry for the slight delay. Ready to roll. What a hectic week, it was supposed to slow down. Modnay night I was at the initial namguqet for the Wayman Tisdale awards. jared Sullinger got Freshman of the Year, and Tisdale represented what was so special about college athletics. Then I was at two other events, including the Dr. Goldman Award for cancer research, then in Louisville tonight at a banquet for the Healing Place where Tom Crean will introduce me.
Hey Dickie V, do you think Barnes returns to UNC?
Dick Vitale (11:14 AM)
My feeling is he loves college.A lot will determine on what happens with the CBA for the NBA...will he pass up being drafted very high and becoming a multi-millionaire. I hope he is like Andrew Luck in college football and he returns to school.
Ok, so Va Tech complains every year that they don't get to dance. Here is my idea: VA State Tournament in November each year. Have Va Tech, UVA, Mason, VCU, ODU, VMI, Hampton, and JMU play an 8 team tourny. Now I know Tech would still probably complain about their seed in it and it will never happen but what are your thoughts? Have the mid majors in Virginia passed the ACC schools?
Dick Vitale (11:15 AM)
Sounds like a great preseason tournament, great concept. Sell it to ESPN and get me to VCU as I want to go there as it is now on my bucket list...I can eat some crow there.
Welcome to Louisville! What is tonight's event and are tickets still available?
Dick Vitale (11:16 AM)
Yes tickets are still available tonight. Call The Healing Place for more info. Hope you can be there.

Prediction, Nest years final 4: Butler, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Duke. Championship: Duke vs Butler II, Butler wins, pretty safe, right Dick Vitale?
Dick Vitale (11:18 AM)
No Shelvin Mack, no Matt Howard. If you want go to Las Vegas and bet that now because the odds are pretty high. I will never put anything past Brad Stevens, who is a great coach, but I don't see that happening.
Dicky V., how about them Huskies. Do you think they have another tile run in them for next year.
Dick Vitale (11:20 AM)
Losing Kemba Walker hurts but they will be very strong. Jim Calhoun has a good class coming in, plus Jeremy Lamb and Shabazz Napier coming back plus Alex Oriakhi up front, plus I believe Jim Calhoun will be back as long as his health is OK, so Connecticut will be up there.
Dick, what are your thoughts on the hire of Fuller from Louisville. I've heard he's a very good recruiter and he's rising in the coaching ranks.
Dick Vitale (11:21 AM)
Fuller is well-versed and a great addition for Missouri. He is aligned with a lot of AAU coaches and will be a great asset for the Tigers. I was surprised he left Louisville for that job, leaving Rick Pitino.
Hey Dick! Now that we know for sure that Williams on Arizona is going pro, where would you rank them headed into next season? Still have to be top 15 in my opinion, with that stellar recruiting class coming in and only losing Williams and Horne, right? Thanks!
Dick Vitale (11:23 AM)
I still them as a contender in the Pac-10 since UCLA lost Honeycutt and Lee plus a great recruiting class. UCLA will up there with the Wear Twins. Arizona will be right up there. I see Arizona as a highly-ranked team. Sean Miller has done a great job and will have the 'Cats up there again.
Was Gottfried a good hire by State?
Dick Vitale (11:25 AM)
I think when you look at the total picture and adding Bobby Lutz and Orlando Early on his staff and where they were going, he will be tenacious in recruiting and I think he was a good hire.
Cheesehead Sports Nut (Chicago, IL)
I am very impressed by Brad Stevens. It looks like he is going to stay at Butler for the foreseeable future. Do you see him coming anywhere close to the Final Four in the next decade?
Dick Vitale (11:27 AM)
It is hard to say but it is the standard for mid-majors. The bottom line is they will be a consistent team in the Horizon and will be a contender for the NCAA each year. Are we talking about this if Pittburgh's Robinson doesn't foul at the end? They will be a consistent leader in the Horizon and kids will want to play there and the talent level will rise. He will get some of the kids Purdue and Indiana were after now. He will also develop players under his system.
How much pressure is Bruce Weber under next year and what happened with Jereme Richmond?
Dick Vitale (11:29 AM)
That is a good question. I don't see him ready for the NBA and he didn't adjust well to college. The heat is turned up in Champaign and they were disappointing last year. Their personnel was top 15 talent but they didn't live up to it. I think Bruce will tell you they have to win next year. I thibnk they have a lot of talent back with Paul and Richardson.
Can Cooley fix Providence College so that they can become relevant again?
Dick Vitale (11:32 AM)
Tough job in the Big East. That is going to be tough. They have had tradition with Mullaney, Gavitt and even Pitino. The competition is the league is tough. Connecticut, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, etc. Cooley can coach and recruit but can he win there? He did a good job as an assistant at BC and as the head coach at Fairfield but we will see at PC.
You heard about coach k to the lakers?
Dick Vitale (11:32 AM)
I do not see that happening. I think he is happy at Duke. Don't want to hear Calipari to the NBA either. End of story. Next.

How good will the Syracuse Orange be in the upcoming season
Dick Vitale (11:34 AM)
Very good. I have heard some people having them as top five. I think they have a good recruting class. Look at Joseph, Melo and Waiters back. They are a legit top 10.
Can Tom Izzo put things back together at MSU?
Dick Vitale (11:35 AM)
Absolutely. He is a winner and not a one-time fluke. He is a architect and a builder and it is one of the elite programs in the nation. I think Michigan State will bounce back. Follow me on Twitter, baby, twitter.com/dickiev.
Dick Vitale (11:38 AM)
Ohio State is in good hands with Jared Sullinger. He is a class student-athlete and loved his repoire with his dad. He will be one of the best in the nation next year again. Charlie Strong and Tom Crean will be there tonight in Louisville. I will talk to you next week. Join me on Twitter and follow me for reflections on basketball, baseball and life, baby! See you next week.
