Chat with Adrian Clayborn

Mel Kiper has Clayborn No. 19 on his Big Board.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Friday, NFL draft prospect, and former Iowa Hawkeyes DE, Adrian Clayborn stops by to chat some football.
Clayborn finished his college career with 19 sacks and 37.5 tackles for loss. He finished his senior year as a first team all-Big Ten and an all-American.
Scouts Inc. ranks Clayborn as the No. 24 overall player and No. 8 defensive end in the draft. They like his production and instincts, while his profile says that he is a "powerful edge rusher with active and violent hands. Can knock offensive linemen off-balance with slap move and then rip back inside."
Send your questions now and join Clayborn on Friday at 1:30 p.m. ET!

Adrian is here!
Cheesehead Sports Nut (Chicago, IL)
Do you think you are a better fit to play in a 3-4 defense or a 4-3 defense?
Adrian Clayborn (1:39 PM)
I've been playing a 4-3 all of my life. I am probably more comfortable in the 4-3. But I can play several positions, running downs, passing downs.
Jeff (Minnesots)
Adrian, what will your first big purchase be?
Adrian Clayborn (1:40 PM)
A big comfy bed. California King style.
Jeremy (Chicago, IL)
What do you think should be your rating on Madden for next year?
Adrian Clayborn (1:40 PM)
Hopefully a 100 or 99, whatever the highest they've given is.
Ryan (LA)
What's it like when you line up against someone knowing you can overpower them?
Adrian Clayborn (1:41 PM)
My eyes get big and I get hungry to get to the QB. It's fun going against smaller guys.
Liana (Charleston, SC)
Can you say which teams you have met with and talked to? :)
Adrian Clayborn (1:41 PM)
I can't tell you the specifics, but I have met with a few teams around your area.
Seth (LaX)
Does Iowa really have anything exciting other than the U?
Adrian Clayborn (1:42 PM)
Not really. You can take hayrides in the country if you want. It's pretty boring besides football season.
Joel (Waukesha)
Hey man! Who do you model your game after?
Adrian Clayborn (1:43 PM)
I just like to watch the best pass rushers. Jared Allen. Freeny, of course. Abraham.
Ryan alton illinois [via mobile]
Do you think it was a good decision to stay in school your senior year.
Adrian Clayborn (1:43 PM)
Yeah, definitely. I got my degree and I think I am better prepared for the NFL than I was last year.
Matt (Montana)
Have you gotten any offers to join Troy in Head and Shoulders commercials?
Adrian Clayborn (1:44 PM)
Actually, I was thinking about that. I was thinking about contacting him pretty soon and try to get a deal!
Tyler (Athens)
Adrian What was your favorite NFL team growing up? Good luck the 28 and don't spend the money all in one place.
Adrian Clayborn (1:44 PM)
The Rams. Greatest Show on Turf.
Mark (The Farm)
What are you going to do on draft night?
Adrian Clayborn (1:44 PM)
I'll be in New York, sitting in the Green Room. Hopefully for not too long.
Race (Minneapolis, MN)
What was it like playing for Ferentz? He seems like a good guy and with a great eye for talent.
Adrian Clayborn (1:45 PM)
It was a great experience. He's a smart coach, well known. He was easy to play for.
Randy (Minneapolis)
What's the best breakfast place in Iowa City?
Adrian Clayborn (1:46 PM)
I'm usually not awake to eat breakfast. I think there's a place called Lynn Street.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Adrian, Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Adrian Clayborn (1:46 PM)
I listen to the same play list throughout the season. I like to get ready at the same time for every game.
Steve S. (Tampa, FL)
What area do you feel is your strongest point? Defending the pass, or the run?
Adrian Clayborn (1:47 PM)
I'm going to be a little cocky and say both. I can defend the run pretty well. I take pride in that. I like to rush the passer too. So, both.
UES Hawk (NYC)
What is you favorite Hawkeye moment?
Adrian Clayborn (1:47 PM)
Probably playing in the Orange Bowl after the 2009 season.
Aaron (South Dakota)
Could any of your OL block you if you went against them?
Adrian Clayborn (1:47 PM)
No.
Heather (Owatonna)
How will the lockout affect you?
Adrian Clayborn (1:48 PM)
I don't thikn it will affect me right now, but after the draft, I won't be able to go to my team right away. So I won't be able to get to know my team and all that.
Kyle (VA)
What was the best part about playing in the Big Ten?
Adrian Clayborn (1:48 PM)
The competition level. It's never an off week. You have to bring your best every week.
Caitlyn (Chicago)
Is your GF getting a ring soon ;)
Adrian Clayborn (1:49 PM)
No. Not to my knowledge. Do you know something I don't?
Jonathan (New York City)
Much has been said about your shoulder. How has all the negative press about it fueled you to succeed at the next level?
Adrian Clayborn (1:50 PM)
Not really. I don't listen to that stuff. I know my skill set. I let it go in one ear and out the other.
Mcneely (233)
Why did you choose Iowa?
Adrian Clayborn (1:51 PM)
I just know coach's reputation. They had a long line of DL going into the NFL and a good defensive reputation.
Kevin (Boston)
Is there a team that you grew up dreaming to play for?
Adrian Clayborn (1:51 PM)
The Ravens. I wanted to play with Ray Lewis.
Steve S. (Tampa, FL)
What other sports did you like to play growing up?
Adrian Clayborn (1:52 PM)
I started off playing baseball. But I sucked. I couldn't catch the ball. Then I started basketball, but got too many technical fouls. So I stuck with football.
Michael (Des Moines)
Was it tough without Norm parker on the sideline?
Adrian Clayborn (1:52 PM)
yeah, it was tough not having him on the sideline to ask him questions during the game and ask him about our game plan.
Adrian Clayborn (1:53 PM)
Thanks for the support. Thanks for my 4 years at Iowa. Follow me on Twitter: @AJaClay.
