Andrew Feldman (4:54 PM)
Hey everyone. Sorry for the delay. Ready to go now, so shoot over your questions.
With the Phil Ivey statement and all the stuff Nick Rainey said on quadjacks last night, it sounds like there was a lot going on at Full Tilt that nobody knew about. What are the odds that players do not get cashed out and the company just implodes? And if so, would there be even more legal ramifications for the owners? Thanks!
Andrew Feldman (4:59 PM)
Loaded question and definitely wont put a line out there. Let's be serious, the only people that actually can put something out like that are people who understand the inner workings of the company...and all those people aren't talking...
Two parter.. does the higher (3x) than expected attendance for the $25k even alter your prediction for other big buy-in events.. two.. do you think if FTP gives the players the money back in the next month or so, will Ivey play the main event?
Andrew Feldman (5:01 PM)
I think it's great to see the 128 players in that field and yes, it could be a positive sign for the bigger events ahead. And yes, if FTP pays back, I think Ivey will play whenever that is all set. If that's the ground of his complaints, then yes, it would mean he would be playing in any future events once players are paid.
Nick (Rhode Island)
Any specifics on the James Bord/John Juanda altercation?
Andrew Feldman (5:02 PM)
Not a ton right now. I'm going to try and catch up with both of them in the coming days though and hear both sides of the story.
Wes (North CA)
With the expectation of 5000ish entrants to the ME will the WSOP still break it down into Day 1a, 1b, 1c & 1d? Or will it be shorter by a day? Or same schedule as it has been lately?
Andrew Feldman (5:04 PM)
Same four days scheduled. I'm sure the actual length of play will be adjusted based on the attendance, but for now, its status quo on that front.
What's the benefit of late registration for players in the WSOP? Also, do players lose a portion of their starting stack because they are coming in late?
Andrew Feldman (5:07 PM)
Do you think Ivey was able to back out of his bracelet bets, considering some of his bets last year included this year?
Andrew Feldman (5:11 PM)
I'm not sure what he's going to do about his bets. I think the players he has bets with probably understand the circumstances, but then again, he's opting not to play. Its his choice, so why would they let him out?
Have you gotten a chance to listen to the pokernews podcast with Daniel Negreanu and his reaction to the Phil Ivey news? Your response?
Andrew Feldman (5:12 PM)
Not yet. Will be talking to Daniel in the coming days as well.
Mikey (Dreaming of the Amazon Room)
Any noteworthy changes to the Amazon Room?
Andrew Feldman (5:13 PM)
The huge, awesome new set. It's really amazing and I think when people see it on TV, they will love it.
What's the general mood up there at the Rio? Do you sense some of the spectators are looking for Full Tilt Pro's to give them a hard time?
Andrew Feldman (5:19 PM)
In general, no. It seems pretty cordial at the moment, but there have been a few notable outbursts. I think as more people come in for the low buy-in weekend events, things might get a little more interesting. We're in a very big wait and see mode.
What are your thoughts on the addition of re-entries this year for all daily's and megas? Do you think it will add value?
Andrew Feldman (5:21 PM)
They're taking a stab at making these events a little more intriguing. They've lost some players to the other events around Vegas and this is their way to keep the focus at the Rio.
nick (charleston, sc)
Any updates on event 2, how is dwan fairing
Andrew Feldman (5:21 PM)
Starts in 40 minutes.
Who do you think the favorite is out of the remaining 32 players in the $25K HU?
Andrew Feldman (5:22 PM)
Gotta love the heads-up specialist in Busquet, but Dwan and Timoshenko probably need to be among the favorites given their experience in this format.
I love poker, and have played a lot, both online and live. But we all realize that the online poker business was in a grey legal area, at best. With this FTP playing out as badly as it has, it really gives a black eye to poker in general, and online poker in particular. Very disappointing.
Andrew Feldman (5:23 PM)
Your feelings are echoed by thousands around the world.
Hi Andrew, do you think FTP pro's that are playing the WSOP should be wearing FTP logos? Seems like rubbing players faces a bit to me
Andrew Feldman (5:24 PM)
If they are contractually obligated to do it, then they have no choice. That said, it's a bit of a dig to sit there with that logo on (if you are a high-profile enough Tilter) and people are personally blaming you.
andrew, no ivey at the wsop, say it ain't so! do you think he made the right call, standing up for the players who couldn't afford to be there through no fault of their own?
Andrew Feldman (5:25 PM)
I think it's a great PR move for Ivey. He looks like a superstar doing what he did. His lawsuit states a number of grievances with the company, so while he may state it's about all the other players, he has a personal agenda here too.
Billy Madison (New York)
When do you expect a response from Full Tilt regarding Phil Ivey situation
Andrew Feldman (5:26 PM)
I'd hope extremely soon, but knowing FTP's recent PR actions, I'm not holding my breath.
My deep thought of the day: if there's a high buy-in event and Erik Seidel is not there to play and win it, does the event actually happen?
Andrew Feldman (5:26 PM)
Haha. I don't think so.
Sean (Palo Alto)
So does Barry get an extra draft pick for Ivey in the $25K Fantasy League?
Andrew Feldman (5:27 PM)
I don't know, but ouch. If Ivey and Barry are as close as everyone believes, it's shocking to think that he had no idea this was coming.
Chad Holloway (PokerNews)
Can I have a mulligan on my 2nd pick of the draft? I call for a redo
Andrew Feldman (5:28 PM)
Nope, but you can make a drop to pick someone else up
David Jewel (Wilmington, NC)
Im sure your gonna have a ton of questions about this but Ill ask anyway. Do you think Phil Iveys actions are an act of a lone wolf power player or could be the begining of a massive earthquake of FTP Players revolting against the company?
Andrew Feldman (5:30 PM)
I've already heard rumors about other pros ready to make moves of one sort or another. Expect a lot of roster changes in the coming days.
Andrew Feldman (5:32 PM)
Ok everyone, sorry to cut it short, but thanks for the questions. See you all tomorrow and don't forget to catch all the action on ESPN3 starting at 5 p.m. ET on Thursday.
