UFC light heavyweight Tito Ortiz will be here shortly to take your questions!
Buzzmaster (12:53 PM)
Tito's here!
Drew (NY)
who wins the main event?
Tito Ortiz (12:54 PM)
I think Uriah Faber. He's a great friend of mine. He's a great wrestler. He'll have a chance to be champ again.
Jaden (SLC,UT)
Tito, congrats on all of your success in the ring. Do you feel as though this fight with Bader is going to be a make or break fight for you and your UFC career? Thanks
Tito Ortiz (12:55 PM)
Of course it's a make or breat fight. Dana's already said that if I lose this they're going to let me go. I'm ready to go to war. My back's against the wall and we're going to swing for the fences. Be ready for the take down.
Rev bn (Pittsburgh)
Ortiz wish you the best on the upcoming fight. How is the back doing?
Tito Ortiz (12:56 PM)
My back is doing great. Over the last year now, there have been no problems at all. I feel really good. My weight is right where I want it to be. I'm about 220, so I have some weight to cut, but I can do that. My take down defense is the best its been in a while. Thank God my back is healed.
Chris (PA)
I love you on Celebrity Apprentice. Did you have fun?
Tito Ortiz (12:57 PM)
Yeah, the Apprentice was tough, tough work. It was all for charity, so I was thankful for the money Donald Trump gave me when I was fired. I kind of bowed out a little bit, because it got kind of cut throat a little bit. But at the end of the day, I ended up making $70,000 for St. Jude's Children Hospital. And a company watching the show donated money in my name as well. So it was all for charity. Very tough. Now I know why I fight for a living.
Nick (corona) [via mobile]
Are you still training at huntington beach?
Tito Ortiz (12:59 PM)
Yes. Actually, I opened my own training facility at Punishment Training Center. I try to spend some time with my family. I have a nine year old and I haven't been around him as much when I'm training, and I have two year old twins. I'm trying to be around more. But I am ready for this fight.
MIKE (NYC)
TITO the LEGEND! Does it bother you that you are not in the hall of fame yet when you clearly deserve to be in! Good luck and bring back a vintage Bad Boy performance!
Tito Ortiz (1:00 PM)
It doesn't really bother me that bad. When people get into the hall of fame, it means they're retired. I hope to be in. To be the longest reigning champion. To be one of the longest fighters. I did my job to make my name a household name. The time and place for me to be in is after I retire.
Adam R (Albany)
Tito, do you think MMA will ever be sanctioned here in New York?
Tito Ortiz (1:01 PM)
I hope it gets sanctioned in New York. To give all of the people in New York to see it live. If there are 37 other states that agree to it, why not the rest of them. It's time for them to get on the bandwagon. We're a sanctioned event. Time limits. Rules. Weight classes. They're doing an awesome job of promoting. So give the fans of New York a chance to see it live.
mario ferrada (fremont,ca)
Have you changed anything in your training camp for this fight compared to your last two fights?
Tito Ortiz (1:01 PM)
The change I made in this camp is my strength and conditioning. I'm trying to get strong and my conditioning better. It's helped a lot. And wrestling some better guys has helped also.
Eric (Baltimore)
After seeing the Bader v. Jones fight and how uncomfortable Bader looked off his back, are you planning more to take him down and gnp or avoid the takedown and trade?
Tito Ortiz (1:02 PM)
I really think avoid the take down No. 1. I'm sure he watched the Matt Hammil fight and I didn't respect his take down. It's going to be exciting on July 2. Watch to see what happens.
Matt (Detroit, MI)
Tito, with almost 30 professional fights under your belt and close to 15 years in the sport, what challenges do you feel Ryan Bader presents that you may not have seen in an opponent thus far?
Tito Ortiz (1:04 PM)
I think he really doesn't have anything on his side besides youth. I've seen everything during my career. I think he just has a strong will and strong heart, that's what it comes down to. I've seen his interviews and he says that he's in great shape. But when you get punched in the face, things change. That will be my job, to punch him in the face.
Ryan Horner (Keokuk, Iowa)
I have always liked Tito. It wasn't until he was a coach on Ultimate Fighter where I started to respect him even more. He was a great coach to those up an coming fighters. I am always pulling for Tito and I hope he gets back on the winning side. He deserves it. Good luck against Bader. Ground and pound the crap out of him and quiet all that doubt you.
Benn from worcester [via mobile]
Tito I've been a huge fan of yours for many years through ups and now downs how huge is this fight and what new weapons are you gonna bring to make sure you win and continue your pursuit for the title
Tito Ortiz (1:05 PM)
I really think I have to be pin point precise in my striking and take down defense. I worked really hard over the last three months to make this happen. On July 2, I will put it all on the line. I will do what I do, and that's entertain and put on a show. I'm an entertainer. I love to fight. That's what it's all about.
Jaden (SLC,UT)
Which was the more exciting victory for you, smashing Kens Face in three times in a row or your first ever UFC victory?
Tito Ortiz (1:06 PM)
I would say my first UFC victory. I was a young kid, only training MMA for about 5 months. I competed for the first time as a young kid. No amateur fights. I never fought anywhere else since then, in the UFC. I won't lie and say I wasn't scared, I was scared. But once it was over, I was hooked. It was such a rush.
rob (jersey)
I was in the stands for UFC30 and UFC50. Did you ever think that you would be in the sport this long?
Tito Ortiz (1:07 PM)
Of course I did. I thought I was a young kid still learning. I was getting better with all of the heard work I was putting into it. Collegiate wrestling taught me a lot. As you get older and injuries come about, the light gets a little dimmer at the end. I have been thankful to do this as long as I have. God has blessed me with some great skills.
Dan (MN)
you seem to be in really great shape for this fight tito does dieting play a big part in your preparation or is it more of a you just work to the extreme everytime your in the gym?
Tito Ortiz (1:09 PM)
Putting in the hard work is No. 1. Dieting is something that should be automatic. I don't eat fried foods, I don't drink sodas. Ice cream is my weakness, but I only eat that on Sundays. I've just ate right my whole life. I try to cook my own meals, but when I can't, I will try to find the healthiest thing on the menu. Even at Jack in the Box. Trying to push yourself that last extra minute. Pushing yourself through the hard times.
Matt H (Phx, AZ)
Hello Tito! Thanks for the great fights and good luck on continued success. Which modern fighter (ANY weight class) would you like to fight?
Tito Ortiz (1:10 PM)
Yeah, I guess it would be Anderson Silva. I'd like to test his skills. He's a great fighter and I think I could put it together to beat that guy.
rob (jersey)
Champ - is there a part of you that regrets never getting a third fight with Guy Metzger?
Tito Ortiz (1:11 PM)
No, not at all. It goes back to his health. Physically, he wasn't able to compete. I don't want an easy way out. It wasn't a good health situation to compete. I'm glad he made that decision. Something bad happening in the ring with me would have been horrible.
Kyle Gosselin (San Diego, CA)
Tito, Have you ever thought about fighting at heavy weight?
Tito Ortiz (1:12 PM)
No way! I walk around at 220. The heaviest I get is 225. These guys are 240, 260. Brock Lesnar is 265 and he cuts down from 280, 290. I wrestled at 190 in college. When you compete against guys bigger than you, bigger guys pushing on you zaps your energy. That's why there are weight classes. It's hard to compete on guys 30-40 pounds more than you.
Robert (Cincinnati)
Tito, in your eyes what was the most significant win of your career?
Tito Ortiz (1:13 PM)
I would say it would have to be against Silva for the world title. After a short time in my career, I had a world title. Getting hit and dropping to a knee. Pretty much running from him to recover for a bit. But I beat him. I got a decision. For a young punk kid off the street that wrestled in high school, I guess God was on my shoulder.
Tito Ortiz (1:15 PM)
I just want to thank all my fans for the support. This fight means the world to me. I will be swinging for the fences. We'll see what happens after it's over, if my hands are raised after the fight or not. Thanks to the fans for the support. And you can always follow me on Twitter: @titoortiz.
