Chat with Priest Holmes
Priest Holmes (7:05 PM)
Hello everyone! I'll be here at halftime of the Packers-Bears game tonight to take some of your questions! In the meantime, check out my new website www.teampriest.com!
Priest Holmes (10:30 PM)
I am here and ready to go!!
Casey Harverstick, Austin, Texas
Priest, How's the hip? Would you say you're back to 100%? The rest of the league better hope you are. Go Chiefs. Hook 'me Horns.
Priest Holmes (10:31 PM)
Hey Casey .. the hip is fine. My hip has recovered 100 percent. I am very excited about going up against the Denver Broncos.
jason (albuquerque, new mexico)
How are you and the offense going to score enough points on Denver this week to beat them?
Priest Holmes (10:32 PM)
I think we learned from last week that a defense that has linebackers who can cover the field from left to right, the best way for us to win is to allow our receivers to come up with some big plays. We will run the ball, that's no secret. But it will be when we catch a 9 route for a TD!
Ronny
Who would win in a foot race, you or Dante Hall?
Priest Holmes (10:33 PM)
I would have to say Dante Hall! There is a story there.. two years ago during Training Camp, Dante and another player got into a little exchange of words about who was faster... Dante lined up against him and they tied in a 40 yard dash .. and they both tore their hammies later in the season! So coach doesn't allow races! But I'd give the edge to Dante.
Jon ,Hoisington Kansas
Priest, Did you talk to Jamal Sunday and what did you talk about?? How about Dante Hall? Very exciting! Keep up the outstanding job!!
Priest Holmes (10:34 PM)
We were captains during the game so we got to exchange a couple words during the coin toss. I just congratulated him on the rushing record and he just smiled. He told me good luck.
Joe (Kansas City)
How is your chess game?
Priest Holmes (10:34 PM)
My chess game is real good. Since I have left Baltimore I haven't got to play as much. But there is a reporter that I play sometimes.
Wes (Mitchell ,IL.)
Priest, you are my favorite running back of all time.I would like to know ,who your favorite running back of all time was.
Priest Holmes (10:35 PM)
Tony Dorsett! I chose him because when I was growing up it was easier for me to look at someone who I felt was believable and would make sense for me to emulate. It would be hard for me to emulate Shaq! I chose someone that was about my size and height and went from there.
Theodore W. Zweifel
I read on your chat from last Monday, that you like all the carries you are getting. I, like all real Chiefs fans like all the carries you are getting, too. But my question is two-fold: Do you think you can be depended on for the majority of the offense for a 16-game season without more production from the passing game, i. e. more touches for the WRs and TEs? Also, let me know when the TeamPriest van will be through Oklahoma City. Looking forward to the next three weeks and hoping I can get tickets and come to the final home game of the season against Chicago. Theodore W. Zweifel (Ted), TSgt, USAF
Priest Holmes (10:37 PM)
I think we will be very productive. We learned last year that when you become one-dimensional, the defense can key in on one guy. It's very easy for defensive coordinators to gameplan against one guy. But we will be very productive and will have other guys producing. We have lots of playmakers. We plan on being in Oklahoma City once the season wraps up. The truck will be in lots of nearby cities.
Mark Dunn Diamond, OR
Is their more of Priest Holmes we have not seen yet, more abilities not yet displayed?
Priest Holmes (10:38 PM)
I would say yes. The reason being the more opportunity you have to be successful on the field, the more comfortable you get. We have so many key players on this team so my creativity will grow as the season goes along.
T.J. True
Is it hard to run at Mile High?
Priest Holmes (10:39 PM)
I think when they talk about the altitude and say you need two weeks to get used to it and acclimate your body, I disagree. When you have guys that weight 300 pounds and are chasing you, you are running your butt off no matter what.
Daniel, Houston ,Texas
Are you going to be attending any of UT's Home games
Priest Holmes (10:40 PM)
No. The closest I got was the game against Rice two weeks ago. We almost always travel on Saturday. So I doubt I will make any games this year.
Mike (Mass)
Hey, hows the progress of the Team Priest going?
Priest Holmes (10:40 PM)
Progress is going great. We are way ahead of schedule. We are gauging our production just like I do on the field. We have 9 million hits on www.teampriest.com so far! That is thanks to all of you guys for logging on!
Kevin Denver, Co
after finding out that you had the same injury as bo jackson, how did you deal with the fact that you knew that it ended bo's carrer?
Priest Holmes (10:42 PM)
I didn't even consider Bo Jackson when I went down. I just knew it didn't feel right. I shifted my body from left to right and I knew something wasn't right. Once I did get a chance to see Bo's surgery on the computer, they put my injury next to it and it looked pretty different in the MRI.
Daniel Seibel (Snellville Ga)
I know all KC fans like me want to express our pride and thanks for everything you've brought to the team. What's the most bizzare thing a fan has done for you?
Priest Holmes (10:43 PM)
I do know that a group of kids had seen me leave my house and I was going around the corner to have dinner with a high school teammate of mine. I got there and we were out back and 20 minutes later, the doorbell rings. They asked "Is Priest Holmes here?". I couldn't believe they followed me 6 blocks.
Jack, Fairfield, CA
Which do you prefer: runs off tackle or swing passes in the flat?
Priest Holmes (10:44 PM)
I'm best when I have the ball in my hands. Running, you get the ball sooner and it's more natural that way.
Adam, Fort Wayne, IN
Hey Priest, hot do you make yourself quicker? What kinds of stuff do you do? I have had 2 acl tears and I need to get quicker. Thanks man
Priest Holmes (10:45 PM)
One excercise you can do is the rope drill. You get a ladder of squares and do side to side shuffles within the ladder. That is one way to keep "quick feet". It's always good to do some type of heel work where you are loading your quads and getting them stronger. Of course, distance running for 100 meters or even shorter will help with your start and finish.
Kevin Eastin ; Detroit, MI
I understand the purpose of TeamPriest, but my question is how did it get started and what motivated you to get it started? Kevin Eastin Die Hard Chiefs Fan
Priest Holmes (10:47 PM)
It was my committment to giving back to the community. For 6 and a half years I piggy backed other player's foundations because I didn't know what I wanted to do. But doing that, I figured out how to have an effect on the kids that would last and really help people along the way.
Jason(Dallas, Texas)
Priest, Is there any extra emotion or satisfaction in playing and beating a team(Ravens) that once cut you loose or is it just basically another game to try and win?
Priest Holmes (10:48 PM)
First of all, yes, it was very satisfying. I got to play against so many former teammates and you always want to see how much you have improved. This season there has been so much focus on being competitive and winning, even though I went back to play an old team, it was just another jersey. Our focus is on winning and we are at such a high level of concentration, I couldn't think about all the media talk about the matchup.
Ben (Fremont, NE)
There are lots of excited Chiefs fans in my neck of the woods! My question is: Do you ever check out any of the Chiefs fan sites online?
Priest Holmes (10:49 PM)
Actually we keep a consistent watch on several chat rooms to get a feel for what people are saying about the Chiefs and myself. It's great to get that feedback on what people are thinking or concerned about.
Kyle (Eau claire,WI)
What do you think your best game has ever been running the ball?
Priest Holmes (10:50 PM)
My best game running was my first start in the NFL .. my second year in the league. It was against Cincinnati .. 178 yards and 2 TDs.
augusta ga
have you played with yourself on madden2004?if so,what do you think?cause for some reason i can't run inside that good with you. But watch out if i get the corner.
Priest Holmes (10:51 PM)
No, but I have had a chance to listen to many kids talk about playing me. They always tell me how fast I am, or that I'm not fast enough!
Andy Roeland Park, KS
Does your son have the same interests in football because of what you do?
Priest Holmes (10:52 PM)
Actually, my sons play Pop Warner now. They are very excited. They play offense and defense.
Kevin(Detroit, MI)
Preist, do you think your team could go undeafeated this season????? I think with your defense playing atop the NFL, and your offense is clearly unstoppable, do you think you cold be the first team to go 16-0??? O, what are some of your personal goals????
Priest Holmes (10:53 PM)
Yes. There is one thing that would have to happen. We have to play all three phases .. offense, defense, special teams. When the game is even on offense and defense, it's the special teams that wins it. If we have that, we are scoring in all three areas.
Aaron Burns
What do you think of Moss?
Priest Holmes (10:54 PM)
I think he is a freak! Right now he is doing the same thing he did in his rookie year .. making plays above guys heads. Not many DBs can compete with that.
Perry (Syracuse, NY)
what would your dream car be?
Priest Holmes (10:55 PM)
My dream car has been my '88 Mustang 5.0 with a sunroof. But unfortunately my sister took it! She didn't know how much it meant to me! That was my first ever car so it has some sentimental value to it.
Big Will (KC)
Who care about Moss, he got nothin compared to Priest. When the team priest gear comin out?
Priest Holmes (10:55 PM)
In October! The week of the Raiders game. Check out www.teampriest.com!
Luis Zepeda San Diego ca.
Hey Priest, can you stop beating up on the chargers?
Priest Holmes (10:56 PM)
Can't do that Luis! Sorry.
Brian (Potomac, MD)
Describe the effect that Coach Vermeil has had on the team?
Priest Holmes (10:57 PM)
The impact has been amazing. He personally called me when I came here and just showed me the committment he had to this team. He is going to make it happen here in K.C.
Darth Raider
The Raiders are gonna bury you
Priest Holmes (10:58 PM)
Why do you feel that way? I think if the Raiders were 2-14, as long as they could get one of those wins against us, they would still feel like they had a Super Bowl team.
Tim, (Winter Springs, Florida)
hey Priest..where is the team priest van located during the tailgate parties at arrowhead
Priest Holmes (10:58 PM)
You can look for it in between Arrowhead and Royals Stadium. It's on the grass area between the two stadiums.
Marty (Ava, Missouri)
What was it like being on the sidelines when Dante Hall broke loose on that kick. My house was rocking, I know it had to be rocking on the sidelines. From a players perspective, what was it like?
Priest Holmes (10:59 PM)
For me, especially, I was saying to my own team "No penalties! No penalties! No penalties!" I just kept saying it over and over.
Reginald Jones,Jr. Houston,Tx
Do you plan on predicting a record breaking day like Jamaal Lewis did a few weeks ago?
Priest Holmes (11:00 PM)
I don't know about predicting. I never try to say what I'm going to do in a game. There are so many intangibles that happen. I'm always thinking about it though.
Crane (Winter Park, FL)
Priest you have to answer one of my questions, who is the hardest hitting defender in the NFL?
Priest Holmes (11:01 PM)
I couldn't say that there is just one guy. But I can tell you something I experienced my third year in the league against Pittsburgh. The QB threw me a pass over the middle and put some air under it. I caught it and was met by Kirkland .. I saw 99 and the sun just disappeared .. it got really dark.
Matt (Baltimore , MD)
Priest, When you were in Baltimore I recall that you didn't own a car at the time. I've seen the Team Priest mobile, but have did you get yourself a luxury car since K.C. Showed You The Money?
Priest Holmes (11:02 PM)
No. Actually I had a car in Baltimore but I preferred to use the demos provided by different dealerships.
Ryno (Pittsburg Ks)
Priest, is Bill Romanowski as "bad" as everyone plays him out to be?
Priest Holmes (11:03 PM)
I don't think so. In terms of outside of the white lines, he is probably a great guy. But inside the chalk, you better be buckled up!
Rob Sperrazza ; Athens Pa
whats your favorite food
Priest Holmes (11:04 PM)
That's easy .. it's pork chops. Smothered with brown gravy and rice with some corn on the cob and green beans. Some rolls and sweet tea.
Whitlock=Jabba da Hutt(KC)
Priest how often can somebody find you "in da club"? The Plaza or Westport?
Priest Holmes (11:05 PM)
Not during the season. There are some places some players will hang out to get away but I'm usually back at home on the itnernet doing something with teampriest.
Priest Holmes (11:10 PM)
I just want to congratulate Oakland for beating up on San Diego and Denver for beating up on Oakland and making it a little easier in the divison for the Chiefs! Also thanks to everyone for logging on tonight to chat with me. It's been great. Don't forget to check out www.teampriest.com!
