MNF with D'Arcy Maine
D'Arcy Maine (6:32 PM)
Greetings from the Meadowlands for MNF! It's my second-straight day at the stadium and I'm just hoping today's New Jersey matchup is a little more interesting. As much as I enjoyed making McCown jokes all afternoon... I'll be chatting here for the next 90 minutes or so and then turning it over to a live blog in time for the game. Send in whatever might be on your mind and I'll get to as many as possible. Hit it Hank Williams Jr.! Seriously.

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL???
D'Arcy Maine (6:33 PM)
Told you I was cueing up Hank.

Is Hakeem Nicks playing tonight?
D'Arcy Maine (6:35 PM)
Lots of questions about Hakeem Nicks today and his knee injury. Still no official word on his status for tonight but, despite limited participation in practice over the last few day, he will more than likely play. I'll keep you posted when I get an update. Hopefully should be soon.

Is Stephen Jackson playing tonight?
D'Arcy Maine (6:38 PM)
Stephen Jackson? Not unless he's in a pickup basketball league in Milwaukee somewhere. As for Steven Jackson, the Rams are "hopeful" he'll play but he's a gametime decision. I have a feeling, based on some things I've overheard in the press box, that he won't be playing and that the Rams don't want to risk furthering the quad injury this early in the season. Like with Hicks, I'll let you know as soon as I hear anythng definitively.
Brian... Nashville [via mobile]
will tebow ever be a starting qb in the nfl?
D'Arcy Maine (6:42 PM)
I don't know, Brian but it's a great question. (Don't you hate when people say that?) I wouldn't read too much into the Broncos playing him at WR yesterday. They were really limited with their options due to injuries and it was a good way to get Tebow into the game. He's young with a tremendous upside, work ethic and, perhaps most importantly, ability to sell jerseys and fill seats. I think he'll someday get the chance with a team, I just don't know how successful he'll be.
D'Arcy Maine (6:43 PM)
This just in: Accoording to Adam Schefter, Steven Jackson will NOT play tonight due to the quad injury. In related news, this could be a long night for the Rams.

What's the latest on Vick?
D'Arcy Maine (6:47 PM)
Talk about a depressing homecoming, huh? Vick suffered from a concussion in last night's loss to the Falcons and he needs to be medically cleared before he can return to practice. The Eagles haven't given an update to this today and his status for next week's game against the Giants is not determined. Vince Young might be activated by then as well or the Mike Kafka era could continue. And nothing says 'dream team' like Mike Kafka.
Connor (Austin, TX) [via mobile]
what did you think of vick pointing to the scoreboard last night?
D'Arcy Maine (6:51 PM)
If I were Vick, I would blame that move on the concussion and pretend I didn't remember doing it.
Paul Santos [via mobile]
Who is your MVP after the first two weeks?
D'Arcy Maine (6:55 PM)
I'll channel my inner-Captain Obvious for this one, Paul. Have to say Tom Brady. In two games, he has 940 yards, 7 TDs and a 71% completion rate. Not too shabby. And while I think it's a little early to compare him (and the Patriots) to the '07 season, there do seem to be a few parallels already. But, who really cares about being the Week 2 MVP? I think Brady would trade that meaningless distinction in for a playoff win.
Larry Merchant, Las Vegas [via mobile]
If I was 50 years younger, I would kick your a**!
D'Arcy Maine (6:59 PM)
Was waiting for that one.

any update on peyton manning? when do you think he'll return? the colts could really use him
D'Arcy Maine (7:09 PM)
Who brought Debbie Downer to the party? What on earth would make you think the Colts are missing Peyton? I hope sarcasm translates in these chats... Still no timetable on his return to the team. He is trying to return this season and reportedly underwent another procedure on his neck but I don't think it will be anytime soon. Much to the dismay of Colts fans. But in the meantime, Peyton gets to be the new face of the stem cell treatment debate. Always the place you want your QB to be in during the season.
bert columbia, missouri [via mobile]
when was the last time the rams beat the giants?
D'Arcy Maine (7:11 PM)
It's been awhile, Bert. The Rams have a 4-game losing streak to the G-Men with their last win dating back to a 15-14 defensive battle in 2001. At least I'm assuming that was a defensive battle and not just a really bad game.
tom r. [via mobile]
did romo redeem himself yesterday?
D'Arcy Maine (7:15 PM)
I think so, Tom. In the fast-paced world of sports fandom, a player is only as good as their last game. That makes Tony Romo a hero. Leading the team to a comeback victory with a broken rib and punctured lung? That's one way to silence the critics that had been ripping him apart after the Week 1 debacle. But let's see how he performs next week. If, that is, he plays.
troy [via mobile]
will you be covering every Monday night game this season?
D'Arcy Maine (7:17 PM)
Thanks for asking, Troy. I'll be covering a lot of the Monday Night games but also some of the non-ESPN/Sunday games as well. With one or two exceptions, I'll be doing a game a week. Hope you all will continue to join me. It's way more fun to have participation at these games.
Hector [via mobile]
Steven Jackson OUT
D'Arcy Maine (7:19 PM)
Welcome to 20 minutes ago, Hector. I kid, I kid. Thanks for letting us know. Still waiting on official word on the remaining questionnables.
Steve (North Carolina) [via mobile]
If the Rams win tonight and Bradford throws over 300 yards... will you marry me?
D'Arcy Maine (7:25 PM)
My dream proposal. How could I say no to that?
brad [via mobile]
who's winning tonight?
D'Arcy Maine (7:30 PM)
Vegas favors New York by 7. I'm thinking it might be a little more lopsided. Guessing Giants 28, Rams 17. But I'm usually wrong.
GREG [via mobile]
Can u notice a difference btwn jets fans and giants fans? enjoyed your blog yesterday from the jets game
D'Arcy Maine (7:33 PM)
Thanks Greg! Just like with every team, there are differences between the fanbases. However, I live in New York a am horribly afraid of angering Jets fans with 'Jersey Shore' comparisons so I'm going to plead the 5th on this one. See what I did there?
D'Arcy Maine (7:36 PM)
I think this chat is more over than Jamaal Charles' season. Too soon? Thanks to everyone for joining me. I'll be blogging during the game and would love to have your witty commentary there as well. Enjoy the game!
