Chat with Jordan Shipley
Shipley was a third round pick in 2010 by the Bengals.

Jordan is here!
What's it like having the McCoy to Shipley passes going through Texas again.
Jordan Shipley (12:00 PM)
It's a neat situation right now. For everybody to see it again is fun. We had a good time while we were there. It's almost more fun to watch them play. I get more nervous watching them than when I play.
Hey Jordan. UT Alum 2010 here. What's your greatest UT football moment from your playing days? Personally, my favorite Shipley moment is your kickoff return TD vs OU in 2008. My brother literally jumped on me in the stands when you scored.
Jordan Shipley (12:01 PM)
I would have to say the same thing. The ATT Red River Rivalry is the biggest stage there is in college football. That football game was a big one. That was probably my favorite moment from my college days.
Huge Horns fan, how well do you think your brother Jaxon is gonna do this week?
Jordan Shipley (12:01 PM)
I hope he has a really good game. It's one of those games where anything can happen. I don't know what their game plan is, but I look forward to watching him make plays. He's capable of it.
Rebecca (Austin, Texas)
Jordan - we're missing you on the field the field with the Bengals, but sure enjoying your brother, Jaxon, on the field with the Longhorns. I'm actually going to the OU game for the first time in 32 years and would love to see you on the UT sidelines like we did a few weeks ago. Any chance of that happening?
Jordan Shipley (12:02 PM)
It doesn't look like it will happen this weekend. I might have surgery at the end of this week. But I'll be supporting the Longhorns and rooting for my brother.
Hey Jordan, thoughts on Andy Dalton so far? Idk how much work you actually got in with him in the short time you had together. He looks good so far though and I can see you dominating the slot for a long time.
Jordan Shipley (12:03 PM)
He's been great so far. I think he's really accurate. He has a good presence about him on the field. He handles himself well under pressure. I wish I could be out there, but hopefully in the future we can connect out there. I'm looking forward to that.
How much are you with the team while you're hurt? How weird is it to not be with them?
Jordan Shipley (12:04 PM)
It's definitely different. I was there for probably a solid week going to treatment and doing that. But I came down to see my granddad for a while and doing rehab here. I'm going up for surgery. It's weird being on IR. It's hard to not be there with the team all of the time.
Gus (Coppell, TX)
I am a huge longhorn fan and I am very proud of what you and Colt were able to accomplish in your years at Texas. I hope for the same success for Case and Jaxon. Jaxon of corse as you know as well as your dad were at Coppell High School for a year. What are your espectations this year for Texas and in the years to come?
Jordan Shipley (12:05 PM)
I expect them to get better and better. They have a couple of young QBs and a young team in general. They'll only get better and better. It will be exciting to see what they can do. This week will be huge for the rest of the season, the ATT Red River Rivalry game.
do you think it should stay at a neutral field?
Jordan Shipley (12:07 PM)
I'm a big fan of the Cotton Bowl and that whole atmosphere. The ATT Red River Rivalry game is such a unique experience. You run out and it's half burnt orange and half crimson. I think it's really neat. I don't know what will happen with that situation, but I'm definitely a big fan of the Cotton Bowl.
How were you able to go 3-1 against OU?
Jordan Shipley (12:08 PM)
We had a good group. We felt like we had a good chance to win every single game we had against them. We didn't turn the ball over much. We had some big plays on defense against them. They were usually always close games. We were fortunate to come out 3-1 in my time there.
Tyler (Athens, GA)
Jordan I am pretty impressed with Jackson so far at UT. How about yourself?
Jordan Shipley (12:09 PM)
I've been impressed. I think they've got a lot of young guys. I think they'll be better and better as the year goes on and develop more chemistry. It will be interesting to see what they can do. If they can get a big win this week, they'll continue to move up the rankings.
How badly do you think Texas will lose this weekend? 30 points?
Jordan Shipley (12:09 PM)
I'm not predicting a loss. I'm never one to pick scores, but this is one of those games where anyone can win, no matter who's ranked what. The ATT Red River Rivalry is always a dogfight. I think anyone can win on any given day.
Alexandria Gonzalez (Houston, TX)
What advice do you have for the McCoy-Shipley Connection 2.0?
Jordan Shipley (12:10 PM)
I don't talk to Colt's brother as much as mine, but the main thing is to have fun. People put pressure on them at such a young age. But I tell them to play like no one is watching. Have fun. As long as he's doing that, he'll get better and better and make plays.
how much do you and colt talk? What do you think of his career start?
Jordan Shipley (12:12 PM)
We still talk quite a bit. Usually we talk more in the offseason. The season is a busy time for everybody. It's been good to see him be successful at the NFL level. It's been a really great thing for everybody involved with his family and mine that we've been able to stay connected. And now it's the third generation. It's pretty special.
Rick (St. Louis)
Who is a better Bass fisherman? You or your brother?
Jordan Shipley (12:12 PM)
I think I've got him on that. I have more experience. It helps that I have a bass boat. He's good, but I've got him beat in that department.
Is rehab harder than actually getting ready for the games?
Jordan Shipley (12:13 PM)
It can be. The thing about rehab is it's not a sprint, it's more of a marathon deal. Especially in my case. You have to take it one day at a time. Get better. That's all I'm doing right now.
Jordan Shipley (12:15 PM)
You can go on Twitter: #ATTRedRiver. There's a contest to submit your video of the tongue twister of saying Red River Rivalry. You can win tickets to this weekend's game. Support the Longhorns and enjoy the ATT Red River Rivalry!
