Melissa Jacobs (3:02 PM)
Hello hello hello fantasy friends. For those "regulars" thanks for coming back. For the newbies, hope I don't steer you wrong.Who's excited tonight? Just five and a half hours until kickoff!Let's get started.
Igor (New York)
Hi Melissa. Which qb should I start this week Tebow, Carson or Freeman?
Melissa Jacobs (3:04 PM)
I'm very high on Palmer this week. The Vikings have given up 18 TDs in the air. Palmer is up for airing it out and has good accuracy.
Sebastian Janikowski ok? Should I start looking for another kicker?
Melissa Jacobs (3:05 PM)
Hi Ellen,Good question - I own him as well. He hasn't been practicing as the hamstring is lingering but he's supposed to kick on Sunday. It was discouraging to see him not trotted out last week for what would be an automatic 55 yarder on a normal week. I'd still stick with him, though.
Pick 2 please. Breaston, Burleson or L Robinson? Is Breaston going to be any good with this new QB?
Melissa Jacobs (3:06 PM)
Hi LeAnne,I'd wait and see on Breaston and Palko. I like Burleson and Robinson the TD machine. :)
Hi-I need 3 out of this group. Greg Jennings, Plax, Jeremy Maclin, Crabtree, Early Doucet, or grab Laurent Robinson off the WW. Thanks!
Melissa Jacobs (3:07 PM)
Hello Aaron,Jennings for obvious reasons. Really like how Plax has played and like his matchup tonight. I'd probably snag Robinson over your other options.
In a pick-em game, for tonight I've used Holmes and Greene. Who to pick of Tebow, Sanchez, Plax, Keller? Worried about Jets D and Tebow but not excited about Sanchez Help?
Melissa Jacobs (3:09 PM)
As I just mentioned Burress has been playing very well. I think Sanchez will have some opportunities to find him, even if he has to find some Bronco defenders in between.
Kat (Stillwater OK)
Hi MJ! Would you keep Jahvid Best until the Lions say something definitive or drop him now? and better Defense ROS -- Detroit or Jets? Thanks!
Melissa Jacobs (3:10 PM)
Hi Kat - I just saw a Lions beat reporter mention Best was in the locker room again, which may indicate he'll be rejoining the team at some point. I'd hold on to him if you can. Like the Jets ROS. Better turnover potential. Good luck!
D-Ford (San Dimas)
Thanksgiving Question. Have the family over, should i go traditional with Turkey or go Hybrid with Turducken?
Melissa Jacobs (3:11 PM)
I'm a vegetarian so I vote for Tofuturkey!
Jeri (San Diego)
Darn it changed work schedule cause it says on "this weeks chats" 2 pm for you. Now I see it says on your blog 3 pm..arg. If you could answer I will check during my lunchtime for a answer. Who starts in my flex, Ball ( tonight) or Woodhead ( Mon night). Also quick 1 Manningham or L Robinson as my #2 rec. Thank you in advance Melissa...you ROCK!
Melissa Jacobs (3:13 PM)
Hi Jeri,Thanks so much and sorry about the time confusion. I like Ball tonight, even if McGahee plays. obviously Denver running attack makes up 97% of their offense so you want a part of that. Plus. McGahee could be limited. Part 2: Manningham. Love how Manning is finding him.
What's up with Vernon Davis? Do you think he'll keep scoring?
Melissa Jacobs (3:15 PM)
Hi Melinda,Good question and something I'm watching closely as a Davis owner and Niners fan. He's receiving great coverage and will continue to do so. But as Smith gets more and more comfortable in the offense he's going to heave it up to Davis more, I think. He's still a good TE start.
Who would be a deep waiver guy to pick up with some upside?
Melissa Jacobs (3:17 PM)
Hi Jenny,Don't flame him guys, but here's another vote for Chad Ochocinco! He was on pace for a monster game last week but never really had an opportunity beyond those 2 catches and 65 yards. But Brady seems determined to make it work. That's good enough for me.
Mark (San Jose)
Melissa, short on RB's this week and I could use your advice. Jacobs, McGahee or J Stew. I need to start two ugh. How are your teams doing this point in the season?
Melissa Jacobs (3:19 PM)
Good afternoon Mark,I'm very high on Jacobs this week. Think he'll see a big increase in carries against the Eagles, and it looks like Bradshaw is still out. I'd definitely opt for McGahee if he does indeed play. You'll have to monitor the pregame since he's a GTD.
What can we expect from Andy Dalton going forward?
Melissa Jacobs (3:20 PM)
We were loving him for a while but this little division stretch is tough. Plus an ailing A.J. Green. Dalton's completion percentage is already dropping.
Hello, I like using your input. I need to start one of P Harvin, Lance Ball, D McCluster, or Branch. Harvin is rated high but like all of them. Good upside
Melissa Jacobs (3:22 PM)
Hi Mike, I'd go with the hot hands and take the guy who has two scores in the last three weeks - Deion Branch
Hi Melissa - is this the week the Pack shocks everyone and RUNS the ball? I can't ask for a better match up for Starks, or should I assume that they will keep airing it out and roll with Lance Ball instead? Thanks!
Melissa Jacobs (3:24 PM)
Hi Josh,Wow, so many Lance Ball-related questions! I'd probably opt for them. A lot more comfortable being part of the Denver running attack, even if it is deeper.
Got a real tuff one here for you. I was offered Chris Johnson and Carson palmer for Eli Manning and Ryan Matthews, now i already have Aaron Rogers what do you think should i deal?
Melissa Jacobs (3:26 PM)
Hi Jake, I saw tough and had to click right away. I wouldn't make the trade which i more like Chris Johnson for Ryan Mathews since I assume you'll always start Rodgers. I mean CJ had one good game against the league's worst rushing defense. I'm not ready to declare he's back. Mathews on the other hand is a solid start.
Neal(slc) [via mobile]
Hey MJ, I also just traded some keepers to get Gore and was curious how you think he'll be used down the stretch? Thanks.
Melissa Jacobs (3:28 PM)
Hi Neal,Obviously I'm a bit of a homer but I think he'll be very productive. Last week they were forced to throw, but the Niners now enter the heavy NFC West portion of their schedule so Gore should really light it up.
Perry (Tri-State Area)
Would you drop Delone Carter for either Montario Hardesty or DeAngeleo Williams?
Melissa Jacobs (3:30 PM)
Hi Perry. Only Hardesty and only if he plays. Williams is just not productive enough.
Afternoon Melissa, 2 sets of questions I could use your help on. Non-PPR with 4 pts per passing TD. 1. Start Tebow tonight or wait for Stafford on Sunday. 2. Start Ball at flex tonight or Tolbert on Sunday???? Thanks
Melissa Jacobs (3:31 PM)
1) I'd start Tebow. Very worried about that fractured index finger on Stafford throwing hand. 2) I'd take Ball. Really it comes down to a better matchup.
Pick one please: Percy Harvin, Vincent Jackson, Laurent Robinson
Melissa Jacobs (3:33 PM)
Hi Jane,I'd choose Jackson here. He is terribly inconsistent but still has the ability to have a monster, multi-TD game any week. Chicago has some secondary issues.
Mike (San Diego)
MJ, chances the Iggles beat the Gints this weekend? Slim? None?
Melissa Jacobs (3:33 PM)
Slim, but it's the NFL. The Seahawks beat the Giants.
Good afternoon MJ! 3-7 record yet still in the playoff hunt if I can win out. Better flex: Lance Ball, Roy Helu, or James Starks?
Melissa Jacobs (3:36 PM)
Hmmm. I have a feeling about Helu this week. Shanahan has indicated he's going to get a lot more work in the passing game. But we are talking about Shanahan.
Am i crazy for thinking my Dolphins make it 3 in a row against the struggling Bills?
Melissa Jacobs (3:37 PM)
No, but you did beat two beyond awful teams. The Bills have some major holes though and seem to slip a little more each week.
Hi Melissa, Drop Grant or Carter for Mcknight?
Melissa Jacobs (3:40 PM)
I would make that move. I'd drop either guy for him, really. Grant, in an invisible running game. Carter, on a team that has to throw the entire second half. McKnight, part of a strong running team.
Need a one week fill-in. On the WW are Crabtree, J Simpson, D Williams, and Doucet. Which do you like best, or any other suggestions.
Melissa Jacobs (3:42 PM)
I like Doucet this week, and in fact just grabbed him myself. Niners give up a lot in the air. Doucet seems to know how to get open in the end zone.
What type of workload will Kendall Hunter see this weekend?
Melissa Jacobs (3:43 PM)
He's a great option for this weekend. Even if Gore's good to go, Harbaugh is going to limit him and save him for the ROS. Hunter could see big numbers vs. AZ.
tdiddy (winnipeg) [via mobile]
howdy. Am I an idiot by starting Deangelo Williams over Ced. Benson?
Melissa Jacobs (3:44 PM)
Yes! No, I kid. Williams just isn't getting the carries. Benson has the much tougher matchup, though.
Vincent Jackson and BJGE for Fred Jackson?
Melissa Jacobs (3:46 PM)
If you have other decent WRs, I would definitely take this deal.
What do think about playing McKnight over BJGE this week? Good matchup for BJGE, but the Pats just don't seem to like to give him the ball much.
Melissa Jacobs (3:47 PM)
Hey Elsa,I agree with your thought. How McKnight is utilized is still TBD but he should get some decent carries,
Better fill in for J Graham this week: Winslow or Ed Dickson?
Melissa Jacobs (3:48 PM)
Hey Lance,I like Winslow this week even though he's been a disappoint. I believe the Packers have given up the fourth or five most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Need 1 out of these 3...Mike Williams (South) Bennett or Denarius Moore?
Melissa Jacobs (3:50 PM)
Hey Jon,I like Moore here. He and Palmer have something special. So do Cutler and Bennett but the Bears passing game is so inconsistent.
Hey MJ, great chats! I own Tolbert and have been offered Matthews for Boldin. I have Shady as my #1rb and own Wallace, AJ and Fitz.. Should I trade for him or is it better not to have both SD rbs? .5 ppr league. thanks!
Melissa Jacobs (3:52 PM)
Thanks Adam! Boldin's been a disappointment but Flacco seems determined to get him the ball. This is a toughie. I would base it on how much deeper your RB and WR crops are. Do you have a viable backup for each position?
hi melissa, alex smith or tebow. thanks again for your help
Melissa Jacobs (3:53 PM)
Would love to recommend Smith, but can't. Even in his passing outburst last week, he still didn't have 300 yards and will likely hover around the 200 mark the ROS. Tebow is looking for a path to the end zone on every play.
Melissa Jacobs (3:55 PM)
OK everyone, thanks for joining. Next week this chat will be on Wednesday at 3ET (in advance of the Thanksgiving games) and then we'll move back to Thursdays at 3ET. Good luck this week!
