Live From San Diego: Sunday Night Football Chat
D'Arcy Maine (7:19 PM)
Greetings from Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego! The streaking Ravens are here in search of their 5th-straight win and the Chargers are... um, here. They play here. And avoided being mathematically eliminated from the AFC West playoff race today. So we could have ourselves a good game here! It's been a strange day around the league. Just ask Mercury Morris...
D'Arcy Maine (7:20 PM)
I'll be chatting until a few minutes before kickoff so send in your questions, observations, predictions, etc. and let's get this thing rolling!

Any chance Ray Lewis's return to the lineup could disrupt the defensive chemistry from the last few games he was out?
D'Arcy Maine (7:21 PM)
I think with a player like Ray Lewis, even when he's not in the lineup, his presence is always felt. He's the emotional and most vocal defensive leader even from the sidelines. While his teammates have filled in for him quite impressively over the last few weeks in his absence, I think is return is welcome one by all and will just be an added boost.

Would you care to take a weekend off and let me fill in for you? I promise to do a GREAT job!
D'Arcy Maine (7:26 PM)
Want to work on Christmas Day? What's your family making for dinner? I'll switch with you if it's steak or turkey.

Any name suggestions for Flacco's new stache?
D'Arcy Maine (7:27 PM)
GREAT question, Cwoods. Let's throw that out to the group, shall we? Any suggestions?

Would like to know how Pittsburgh clinched a playoff spot before the raven s? "When we have the tie break advantage " please explain
D'Arcy Maine (7:29 PM)
It is slightly confusing, JB. Both the Steelers and the Ravens are 10-3 and the Ravens own the tiebreak thanks to their two head-to-head wins. Pittsburgh only clinched a Wild Card berth today with the Titans loss (as they now have a 3-game advantage over them). The Ravens will clinch a playoff spot with a win tonight and will remain the front runners for the division.

Don't under estimate the bolts lady.
D'Arcy Maine (7:31 PM)
Ravens are only 2.5 point favorites. Vegas feels better about the Chargers than I do clearly. But Vegas has a much better track record than I do so take that for what you will.
Max (Sacremento, CA) [via mobile]
How bout those redskins?
D'Arcy Maine (7:34 PM)
Does ANYBODY want to win the NFC East? Fifth loss in six games for the Giants and putting them on the verge of missing the playoffs yet again.
Baltimore's [via mobile]
It's going to be a tough fight but we going to punish San Diego! T sizzle with 3+ sacks and Ed with 2 int! Ravens smash them big!Ray Rice big on the ground and Lewis to punish a RB!
D'Arcy Maine (7:36 PM)
They don't call them 'Ball So Hard University' for nothing. And by 'they', I mean Terrell Suggs. He calls his own team that. Keep those predictions coming...
matt in Baltimore [via mobile]
Is Webb Active for the Ravens tonight? Or is Jimmy Smith getting the start.
D'Arcy Maine (7:41 PM)
Lardarius Webb is active and will start, Matt. Despite not practicing this week, he looked okay during warmups. Good news for Ravens fans.
GoDucks [via mobile]
Well the Broncos&Raiders did what the Bolts needed...they both lost!
D'Arcy Maine (7:42 PM)
Exactly. The Chargers are still in the AFC West playoff hunt after both losses today. Definitely makes for a much better atmosphere tonight. SD has the talent but this will be a tough game tonight. We'll see how they respond to the pressure.
joeknows [via mobile]
That stache should definitely be called the Jo'broni....

Our first "name the 'stache" nominee!

Mercury Morris is going to be obnoxious for another year. Sigh.
D'Arcy Maine (7:47 PM)
That was the only reason I didn't mind the Packers undefeated run.

How u feel about the packers loss
D'Arcy Maine (7:48 PM)
I feel fine about it, Baltimore. Thanks for asking. Seriously though, for those GB fans, it might be better in the long run to lose now and enter the playoffs hungry and motivated. Trust me. I'm a Patriots fans. An undefeated regular season isn't really that cool.
Anthony (Tacoma) [via mobile]
After GB losing to a pretty soft KC team, is that a wake up call for the Pack, or does that signify trouble ahead?
D'Arcy Maine (7:52 PM)
I think it shows that they are capable of a down week and are beatable but I wouldn't read too much further into it. I think it's a blessing disguise for them. They'll use this as a motivator from here on out. No real reason for concern.
Rich (Chicago) [via mobile]
What did you ask press box Santa for?
D'Arcy Maine (7:55 PM)
As some of you know from Twitter, I am seated about three spots down from Santa Claus in the press box. I had the bad fortune of watching him rip his beard off and chowing down on some dinner. It essentially ruined my childhood dreams in all of 20 seconds.

If the Chargers win out and Denver loses to KC, doesn't that mean Chargers win the West?
D'Arcy Maine (7:58 PM)
All four of the AFC West teams have a shot at winning the division at this point, John. How's that for parity?
Ruben (Lawton, Ok) [via mobile]
Colts FINALLY get a win.... Does this now bring up a Draft Luck, Trade Peyton conversation?
D'Arcy Maine (8:00 PM)
Haven't we been having that conversation all season long?
patrick winchester,va [via mobile]
Does it seem odd that a toe bruise would keep Lewis side lined four whole games??? Is that a sign that age is catching up?
D'Arcy Maine (8:06 PM)
Obviously Lewis isn't as young as he used to be, Patrick. Because that would be impossible. But he keeps himself in incredible shape and has a dedication almost unrivaled to the game. His body recovers slower than it once did but he's by no means in his twilight years. I think his foot injury was more severe than initially reported and he wanted to make sure he was at close to 100% as possible before coming back and risking further injury. He's still crucial to the Ravens D and think he'll make an immediate impact in his return tonight.
Flacco wacko (well, you know) [via mobile]
Is someone above a Patriots fan or did He just take the week before his birthday off?
D'Arcy Maine (8:09 PM)
As he said on SNL last night, he's a busy guy. He can't be bailing out Tebow and the Broncos every week. (Worth watching if you haven't seen it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ul2dhNaQgxM)

Who wins this game?
D'Arcy Maine (8:09 PM)
I'm taking Ravens by a touchdown. But I'm almost always wrong.
D'Arcy Maine (8:10 PM)
Okay, gang. That does it for me. I'll be live blogging during the game. Hope you'll join me there as well. Enjoy the game!

Like arnold said, GO CHARGERS!!!!
D'Arcy Maine (8:11 PM)
Couldn't not end with that...
