Chat with Brett Keisel

Keisel was a seventh round pick by the Steelers in 2002.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Monday, we'll be going full force with our Super Bowl talk when Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel stops by to chat.
Keisel just finished his 10th year in the league, all with the Steelers. He's helped Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl titles (XL, XLIII) and has 20.5 career sacks.
Aside from his play, Keisel is also well known for his beard, which took center stage this time last year at Super Bowl XLV. His beard has its own Facebook page, fan page and even starred in a Head & Shoulders commercial.
Send your questions now and join Keisel Monday at 10 a.m. ET!

Pittsburgh Steelers' Brett Keisel, and his beard, will be here to chat at the top of the hour!
Buzzmaster (10:02 AM)
Brett is here!
Matthew (Columbia, NJ)
Hey Brett, have you talked to Giants closer Brian Wilson about letting your beards grow?
Brett Keisel (10:03 AM)
I have not talked to him. People ask me about his beard and my beard all the time. He has a nice beard, but I do feel like mine is better. We can have a beard off any time if he wants. The main reason my beard is over the top is because of Heard and Shoulders for Men. They've brought it to a whole new level.
Carl (NYC)
Do you get free Head and Shoulders through your work with the company? I think that could save you thousands when it comes to washing your beard.
Brett Keisel (10:04 AM)
I do! They are the official shampoo of the NFL and the Super Bowl down here in Indianapolis. They do keep me stocked as well as all of the NFL football players. Everyone's using it.
Ryan (Chicago) [via mobile]
Do most players watch the Super Bowl or is it still tough after being knocked out of the playoffs? Will you watch it?
Brett Keisel (10:05 AM)
We'll watch it. I think it's a part of being an American. The Super Bowl is a huge deal and it's played throughout the country and the world. I will still throw a party and get my chips and salsa out. Looking forward to watching the game.
Michael C. (Westport, CT)
Do you think losing the weight of your beard would improve your quickness?
Brett Keisel (10:05 AM)
Absolutely!....no, just kidding. I don't think so. I don't think it has too much wind resistance. I really feel like this beard is a part of me now and my body has adjusted to the top heaviness that it can sometimes create.
Dave (NJ)
So, how many bottes of Head and Shoulders do you use in your beard every time you wash it?
Brett Keisel (10:06 AM)
Only one bottle. A bottle gets me through a month. It's great for the scalp and the chin. I think people take for granted a healthy scalp. Head and Shoulders is the best product around and it is why the beard is what it is.
Nathan (Kentucky)
Who was your favorite player growing up?
Brett Keisel (10:07 AM)
In football, I had a lot. But my favorite player growing up is Jim McMahon. He was the QB at BYU and I was born in Utah. I liked the Bears growing up and he was my favorite player.
william (ohio)
what's it like getting to hit joe flacco? it has to be awesome
Brett Keisel (10:08 AM)
It's great. Any time you get a big play against a rival is a great feeling. When you can feel the crowd erupt, it's hard to explain. It's a reason you play this game. The energy you can get on the field of battle is something you can't find anywhere else.
Nathan (Missouri)
Brett, where do your Super Bowl wins rank on your list of all time accomplishments?
Brett Keisel (10:09 AM)
Well, they're definitely up there. To go all the way and reach the Super Bowl is quite an accomplishment itself. To win it is something I'll always cherish. I was getting ready to come here and I put on my rings just to remember how they felt and it made me feel like I wanted to go get that third ring.
Matthew (Atlanta)
Have you ever thought about shaving your beard?
Brett Keisel (10:09 AM)
Yeah, I'm shaving it Feb. 9 down at an event in Pittsburgh. "Shear the Beard" it all goes towards the children's hospital in Pittsburgh. We're going to have celebrity shavers, if you will. My dad's been growing one too. It was a great event last year and we're looking forward to bigger and better things this year.
Chris (Ohio)
Do you have insurance on your beard like Troy does for his hair?
Brett Keisel (10:10 AM)
Not right now. Geico.....no, I don't have insurance right now. It's not quite as flowing as Troy's hair. They just did a Madame Tousseau wax figure of Troy and they had to use double the hair they normally use. No insurance yet. Plus they know I'm cutting it.
Steve (Pennsylvania)
What kind of changes are you expecting in the offseason for your Steelers?
Brett Keisel (10:11 AM)
Well, there's going to be changes. We've already lost a couple of coaches. I expect maybe a few other older guys to retire. It's going to be different. But that comes with the game. Every year you have a different team, with the same goal. We'll have the same mentality of getting to the Super Bowl.
Nathan (Missouri)
Brett, who do you think will win the big game?
Brett Keisel (10:12 AM)
It's going to be a great game. It's going to be just like the last time these two teams played. Come down to the very end. Who has the ball last. I like the Giants, but I think that New England has a lot that they're playing for right now. I think it will be a great game going down to the end.
Eric (New York) [via mobile]
Are the steelers signing back Mike Wallace?
Brett Keisel (10:13 AM)
Absolutely. He's a very important piece to our offense. With Mike and Sanders and Antonio, we have a good group of young receivers that can play at a high level. That's one thing I'm excited about, our potential on offense. I hope we can start blowing some teams out.
Nathan (Kentucky)
So, what's the story on the beard?
Brett Keisel (10:14 AM)
It gets cold in Pittsburgh. I like to keep the wind off my face and I like to eat a lot. And when I eat, I get to eat all day long thanks to what's in the beard......I like to grow it out. The fans seem to enjoy it and I like to give the fans what they want.
Brett Keisel (10:15 AM)
Thanks for all of the love and support. Steeler Nation you're incredible. Looking forward to bringing No. 7 home to Steeler Nation next year.
