How long after the season do you take off before thinking about next year?
Dylan Gandy (12:29 PM)
For me, I take off about two weeks and then I start getting back into dieting and working out and try to get ready for next year. It's something I gradually build up to, as far as the workouts go.
Bobby (Boston)
what do you think the Lions need to do this offseason?
Dylan Gandy (12:30 PM)
That's a good question. I think that we're really close. After that New Orleans game in the wild card, it was really disappointing because we lost and losing in the playoffs is hard, I just had this feeling that we're really close. We just have to go on the path we're going. This coaching staff and the players have done a great job. It's really exciting to be a part of the Lions organization right now.

i play football for my school and , the energy from thestands is amazing. what was it like to run onto the feild @ the super bowl?
Dylan Gandy (12:32 PM)
You're right. That feeling that you get at any level, high school, college, NFL, that's a huge driving factor in why I love this game so much. I think I'm not alone in that. It's why it's fun. Getting to come out and hear the crowd. It's electrifying is a lot of fun. Getting to do that at the Super Bowl at the pinnacle of what we do professionally, that's something I'll never forget.
Darryl (Seattle)
will you be watching the Super Bowl on Sunday or will it be too difficult to watch, knowing you guys were in the plyoaffs this year?
Dylan Gandy (12:33 PM)
It will be difficult to watch, but my offseason home is in Indianapolis, that's where my wife is from. We decided we're going to the Super Bowl this year, how often is it in your hometown? This will be my first NFL game from the stands. I am looking forward to going and having a good time with my wife.
Peter (FL)
as a OL do you ever get frustrated that you guys don't get more recognition for a job well done?
Dylan Gandy (12:34 PM)
It used to bother me when I was younger, in high school and a little bit in college, but the older I get maybe I just become more aware of the people that know football, they do acknowledge you. It doesn't bother me at all. So much of playing this game is about getting the respect of your peers. If you can do that, that's really all you need. The other stuff is fun, gravy on top, but I do enjoy the way it's set up. I enjoy that I can go out in public and not get hounded like some of the other superstars do.
Chris (Denver)
Were the guys on the team upset that Stafford didn't get a Pro Bowl nod?
Dylan Gandy (12:35 PM)
Yeah, it was really disappointing for us. I don't know if upset is the word, but disappointing. We have all of the confidence in the world in him. He had an incredible season, he threw for over 5,000 yards. But I don't think it's his only fantastic year. He has a lot more coming and he'll get his due.
Dylan Gandy (12:36 PM)
At the same time, I dont' want to take away from the other guys in the NFL and the great QBs. But we do feel that Matthew is a great QB and deserves that honor.

What is it like playing on the same team as CJ? Is he the best reciever you have ever seen?
Dylan Gandy (12:37 PM)
It's hard to put him in the league with anyone else. The guy's a freak. The stuff that he does on a daily basis is incredible. I've been pretty fortunate to play with some great receivers, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, hall of fame caliber guys. All I can say is that Calvin is a freak. Not just that, he's also a great guy. That's what's impressive to me is how down to earth he is. He likes to compete.
Clay (Charlotte)
Dylan, how much pride do you guys take in the fact that you kept Stafford healthy all year, where it seemed for the past couple he was getting the stigma for being "injury prone"?
Dylan Gandy (12:38 PM)
I think a lot of pride. When that's your job, to protect somebody and they do stay healthy all season, that's a job well done. Any football player is going to feel like you can always do better and we'll always feel that. But having said that, he's a tough kid. He gets out there and battles through stuff. I don't want to take away any credit.
Patrick (NYC)
Who do you think would be the toughest to block out of the NYG defensive ends - Tuck, Umenyiora, Kiwinuka, or Pierre-Paul?
Dylan Gandy (12:39 PM)
Take your pick. Those guys are all really good. They bring something different to the table. That's a hard call to make. I'm not going to choose one out of that. That's a hard call.
Greg (Houston)
Have you gotten frustrated early in your career when it seemed like teams weren't giving you a chance to stay with the team?
Dylan Gandy (12:40 PM)
Yeah, definitely. My first three years, I was in Indianapolis, which was great. There was one season I bounced around, something like 4-5 different teams. That was frustrating professionally. But I grew and the last few years I've been in Detroit and I really like it. But that's how the NFL works, you take the good and the bad.
Greg (NYC)
you guys had quite an improvement this season....do you think you guys can make a deep playoff run next year?
Dylan Gandy (12:41 PM)
I really do. I really do. It's exciting to see where the Lions are headed. I'm happy to be a part of that. Every year it's about staying healthy, but I'm excited, man. I'm excited to see where the Lions are headed.
George (Chicago)
The giants have gotten squashed in the run game. How frustrating can that be for a Olineman?
Dylan Gandy (12:43 PM)
It is frustrating when you can't run the ball well. But you really have to look at the bigger picture. Are you not running the ball well, because the other team is loading up to stop the run and opening the pass? You have to put it into perspective. Are we not running because we're not running it well or are we not running it because they're loading up the box? Just take what they give you. Another stat is yards per carry. That happened to us this year, it seemed like we weren't running the ball well, but we were getting 4-5 yards per carry. If you're really focused on the team winning games, that's what matters to you, taking adavantage of the opportunities you have.
Glenn (Wisconsin)
What's the chemistry on the team like? Do you come in and it's all business, everyone has a job to do and gets it done? Or is it more laid back and relaxed, guys being friends and enjoying themselves?
Dylan Gandy (12:44 PM)
This is more of a unique atmosphere. There is a lot more than just professional courtesy to each other. You spend so much time with guys that you do develop deeper relationships with everyone. It is a good atmosphere.
Dylan Gandy (12:45 PM)
I want to say thank you. Thank you for making the sport what it is. Without you, I don't have a job. Thank you for the fans for making it what it is. It's all about you.
