Dan Graziano (12:00 PM)
Good afternoon, all. Since @D_Gmenallday won our weekly Twitter race, we begin today with a Giants question.
Keith (NYC)
Are the Giants better served drafting a TE, ILB or an OL in the first round and who are the candidates for their pick?
Dan Graziano (12:01 PM)
I have seen Allen, the Clemson tight end, connected with the Giants in recent mock draft. He could go higher than that, but if he's there at 32, I would consider that an excellent pick for the Giants. If not, I'd take an offensive lineman, which is something they haven't picked in the first round since 1999.
Joey (DC)
Which is best for the Redskins: Sign Matt Flynn or draft Luck/or RG3?
Dan Graziano (12:02 PM)
They're not getting Luck, because the Colts are. The best solution for the Redskins, as I've written many times, is Griffin. But they may not be able to trade up to get him. If they can't, then they look at free-agent options like Flynn, Orton, Manning, etc.
Danny (Houston)
Do you think the cowboys should draft the best Defensive Player available (3-4DE, OLB, or CB) in round 1? Defense, Defense, Defense, OG....
Dan Graziano (12:03 PM)
I agree with your logic, and yes, I would draft defense if I were them, rather than spend a mid-first-round pick on a guard. Pass rusher or defensive back, they can't go wrong with either at 14.
Mike (Paducah, KY)
Would it make any sense for the Cowboys to sign Mario Williams as a 3-4 DE and keep Spencer around? At about 6'6" 290, Williams has the requisite size and he has the skills to be extremely disruptive. Williams and Spencer on 1 side and Ware and Ratliff on the other is pretty formidable.I'm sure it's unlikely sine most rushers don't want to play 3-4 DE but it would make sense, no?
Dan Graziano (12:04 PM)
I think 3-4 DE would be a waste of Mario Williams, and I don't think a team's going to want to waste a guy after making him maybe the highest-paid defensive player of all time. Williams might make sense for the Cowboys as a 3-4 outside linebacker and Spencer replacement, but I still think he's at his best rushing from a 4-3 DE spot, and will look for a role like that.
Jerry Reese (Sitting on my laurels....)
Have you seen our schedule for next year??? Packers, 49ers, Saints, Steelers, Ravens, Cincy, Panthers....my goodness. The last few years, our schedule is brutal. Your thoughts?
Dan Graziano (12:05 PM)
Seemed to work out for you this year.
Hassan (Orlando)
How good could Washington be Signing a Peyton Manning and then drafting an OL in the 1st rd a Lamar Miller in the 2rd rd and Tommy Streeter in the 3rd.
Dan Graziano (12:06 PM)
I don't agree with any of this. I don't think an OL at No. 6 would be a good use of the pick for them. I don't see how they need Miller when their stable of RBs is one of the strengths of their team. And Streeter, sure, but they already have developmental WRs from last year's draft.
Dan (New York)
Do you see the Giants bringing back Terrell Thomas, or sticking with Aaron Ross?
Dan Graziano (12:07 PM)
I think Thomas is more likely to be back than Ross is. They're up against the cap (over, actually), and Thomas is likely to come cheaper because of his injury.
David (Halifax)
Assuming the Eagles don?t draft a LB in the first round, what position would they draft?
Dan Graziano (12:07 PM)
Wide receiver, if DeSean Jackson's not on the team anymore, or a big defensive lineman maybe for the rotation up front.
Hans Gillan (Boca Raton, FL)
Dan, I am addicted to your work! Any specifics out for Cullen Jenkins restructured deal? Any word on if/when D-jax will get the franchise tag?
Dan Graziano (12:08 PM)
Haven't seen specifics on Jenkins yet, but the upshot is he'll be back with the team in 2012, which is a wise move for them. They have until March 5 to franchise Jackson. I'm sure they'll be talking to Rosenhaus at the combine, but they'll take all the time they can with that.
Phil (San Diego)
Is anyone still a little bit shocked that the New York Giants have won 2 superbowls in the past 5 years. They are basically never thought of as the best team even in the nfc east, how did they do that? Luck?
Dan Graziano (12:08 PM)
It certainly wasn't luck. But yes, I can be counted among the shocked.
John (NJ)
If you were Jerry Reese would you trade Bradshaw and your 1st round pick for Ray Rice?
Dan Graziano (12:09 PM)
Absolutely.
Don (Indiana)
This isn't a NFC E question necessarily but I was wondering how the chiefs signed a free agent that wasn't their own already? I thought you couldn't sign them till mid-march.
Dan Graziano (12:11 PM)
I'm taking the question because the Cowboys were interested in Stanford Routt, the free agent in question, and we're not getting many Cowboys questions right now. The Raiders signed Routt to a huge contract last year but cut him two weeks ago to avoid paying a massive roster bonus. That set him free to sign with any team, as guys like Albert Haynesworth are who have been released from their contracts early. The regular free agents you're thinking of have contracts that officially run through the end of the league year, March 12. So they're not technically free agents yet, where a guy who got released from his contract is.
H20 (( o Y o ))
Any chance the Eagles pursue Vincent Jackson?
Dan Graziano (12:12 PM)
Not sure that's the way they'd go to replace DeSean. They still have LeSean McCoy's deal to worry about down the road, and I think they believe Jeremy Maclin can be a No. 1 WR. I think they'd look for a good No. 2.
sean (philly)
if the eagles don't keep desean do they look WR in the draft or in free agency?
Dan Graziano (12:12 PM)
My guess is draft.
Dan (New York)
Out of all the movies nominated for best picture, which one was your favorite?
Dan Graziano (12:13 PM)
So far, "Hugo" was my favorite to watch. I've seen 8 of the 9. Still haven't seen "War Horse."
Derek (Lafayette)
Who appears to be the better corner? Kirkpatrick or Janoris Jenkins? Both have character concerns, Jenkins is better in man to man, but Dre has the height.
Dan Graziano (12:14 PM)
I'd lean toward Kirkpatrick, since his accomplishments came against better competition. But Jenkins is a very interesting guy who can help in the return game right away.
Chris (VA)
Any insight as to why Landry won't have surgery on his achilles for the second year in a row? Isn't this killing his value to the Skins and every other team as well?
Dan Graziano (12:15 PM)
I don't think people like having surgery, in general. But yeah, it's definitely hurting his value in the Redskins' eyes, I can tell you that.
Joe (New Jersey)
Any chance the Cowboys use their franchise tag on Laurent Robinson?
Dan Graziano (12:15 PM)
No, I don't think they want to pay Robinson $9.5 million next year.
Matt M (PA)
How big are the cap concerns for the Giants this offseason. There has already been some noise about Cruz and Osi wanting new contracts coupled with Mario and others hitting FA.
Dan Graziano (12:16 PM)
Teams can always finagle around it with restructured contracts, etc., but the Giants do have some tough decisions. Hard to see Manningham coming back if someone's going to offer him WR2 money to play elsewhere. Osi remains an issue and is a candidate to be traded. Cruz is going to have to wait for his money.
Cortland (Tennessee)
After just turning down a 28 million dollar contract, is there any chance dallas can convince me to come to their team?
Dan Graziano (12:17 PM)
Sure, why not? I think they could spend big for a cornerback.
Matt (Ct)
Just to comment on your Kirkpatrick comment, Janoris Jenkins played at Florida and went against Alshon Jeffery and AJ Green.
Dan Graziano (12:18 PM)
He did indeed. But he played at North Alabama this past year. It's a close call. Was looking for a tiebreaker, I guess.
Phil (San Diego)
Is the Laron Landry era officially coming to an end in DC? If so, isn't he a restricted FA, how high do you think the skins will tender him?
Dan Graziano (12:19 PM)
It is my understanding that Landry is UNrestricted. But regardless, I don't think he comes back to Washington unless it's on a one-year, low-base, incentive-heavy deal. I think they need to see him play before making a major commitment. And they really haven't seen that over the past couple of years.
Shawn412 (Afghanistan)
The Chiefs signing Routt pretty much means that they won't be bidding on Carr, right? Do you see the Cowboys getting him?
Dan Graziano (12:19 PM)
I think it does mean that. They're more likely now to franchise Dwayne Bowe and let Carr walk. I think he should be high on the Cowboys' list.
John (DC)
Is it realistic to think the Cowboys will actually sign Carl Nicks
Dan Graziano (12:20 PM)
Realistic, sure. But Nicks may not hit the market. They could keep him and let Marques Colston walk, and it sounds as though they're leaning that way.
Keith (NYC)
If the Packers don't franchise Finley, do you think the Giants should pursue him if they can free up enough cap space?
Dan Graziano (12:20 PM)
The Packers are definitely going to franchise Finley. But if they weren't, then yes, I would agree with you.
Jason (VA)
Do you think the Redskins are going to try to get RG3.
Dan Graziano (12:22 PM)
Yes, I believe they will look into (or have looked into) what it will take to trade up for the Rams' No. 2 overall pick. I do not think Mike Shanahan intends to mortgage his whole draft or future to get it, though. My guess is that he has a price in mind over which he will not go, and the level of competition for the pick (from Cleveland, Miami, etc) could determine whether he gets priced out.
Chris (Giants Land, NJ)
Biggest area of concern for the Giants is the offensive lineman, namely the tackles. Agree?
Dan Graziano (12:23 PM)
Long-term, yeah, I agree. Short-term, given the injuries they suffered in the Super Bowl, tight end may be more of a priority.
David (Halifax)
If the eagles do trade Samuel, is it possible they go cornerback in the first round?
Dan Graziano (12:23 PM)
I guess possible, but they'd still have Asomugha, Rodgers-Cromartie, Hanson. Not a need position for them, which is the reason a Samuel deal makes sense in the first place.
Phil (San Diego)
Brock Osweiler - dark horse to be the next redskins QB. Sit for a year behind a Kyle Orton and come in and start crushing it. Big Arm, Prototypical size and mobility. He could be very very good and skins wouldnt have to trade up to get him and could address other needs.
Dan Graziano (12:24 PM)
I am certain the Redskins are pondering the idea of drafting their potential franchise guy sometime after the first round and bringing in an Orton or someone like that to play it in the meantime. Osweiler is a name you will hear again. He is, as my six-year-old would say, part giant. (That's giant with a small g.)
cloister (Philly)
Do you follow baseball? Will you be rooting for any team in particular this year?
Dan Graziano (12:25 PM)
I love baseball. But I don't root for teams.
Dave (Charlotte)
Matt Flynn will hit Free Agency long before the draft...if you are the 'Skins, what determines going after Flynn or risk losing him to get RG3?
Dan Graziano (12:25 PM)
I think the Redskins need to find out the cost of that No. 2 pick early in free agency, so they can make their other decisions accordingly.
Matt (Orlando)
Do you know what Samuel, Jackson, and/or Osi could go for in the trade market? Thinking the teams would only get draft picks back.
Dan Graziano (12:26 PM)
Yeah, picks for sure. Question is what kinds of picks. I'm sure you could get a second or maybe a first for Jackson, depending on how many teams whiff on their first-choice free-agent WR. Osi and Samuel, you're probably lucky if you get a second.
Dirk (orlando)
Dan, whats your honest take on Ryan Tannehill and if he would be a good fit for the Redskins assuming they forgo the desperation move of trading up for RG3.
Dan Graziano (12:27 PM)
Tannehill's interesting, and a lot of scouts like his chances. But I don't think a trade-up is a "desperation move." If they don't overpay, it's a really sensible one for the franchise's future.
Billy J (Scranton)
I worry about the Eagles pounding Shady into early retirement, any chance the Eagles could sign a mid level FA RB to take away some of the pounding McCoy will take?
Dan Graziano (12:28 PM)
I know they like Dion Lewis a lot. I imagine he'll get more into the mix. But yeah, they'll probably look for a vet to fill the Ronnie Brown role.
Don (Indiana)
Assuming Mario Williams asks about 11 million per year and Carr would require about 8.5 per year, which would you say would be a better sign for the Cowboys?
Dan Graziano (12:29 PM)
Tough call. Williams is a monster, but I'm going to say Carr because again, I'm not sure the 3-4 is the best fit for Williams. I know he played it in Houston this year, but I think he's better as a 4-3 end.
Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)
If the Redskins first pick doesn't go towards acquiring RGIII, and Kalil and Blackmon are gone, who would they be looking at at #6? Claibourne and Richardson wouldn't seem to be big priorities for them...
Dan Graziano (12:29 PM)
I don't think Claiborne would be a bad pick for them in that situation. They could stand to upgrade at cornerback, I think.
Billy J (Scranton)
Didn't see the coma in the guys post and was wondering who would want Samuel Jackson, the guys close to 60.
Dan Graziano (12:29 PM)
SAY WHAT AGAIN!!!!
Cloister (Philly)
Why does Philly have no super bowls?
Dan Graziano (12:30 PM)
Because the Raiders beat them once and the Patriots the other time.
Mike (NYC)
I may be crazy, but wouldn't running back be a need for the giants as well. Jacobs shouldn't be with the team anymore, Scott and Ware haven't showed much of anything, and bradshaw can barely stay on the field/healthy. Granted the oline was a bigger part of the 80 ypg for this running game, but the runnings backs are a shaky group. Second or third round worthy maybe?
Dan Graziano (12:30 PM)
You're not crazy. I agree with you. But you can find RB value later in the draft. Bradshaw was a seventh-round pick, right?
Jack (Boston)
So you don't root for teams in Baseball, you don't root for teams in Football...are you a sports eunuch?
Dan Graziano (12:31 PM)
Hoyas at Seton Hall tonight. You won't want to talk to me during those two hours.
Dan Graziano (12:31 PM)
Look, I used to root for teams. But I've covered pro sports for 17 years now. You get over it when you get this close to it.
Will (Lexington Ky)
You say the Eagles think JMac is a #1 Wr but do you think he is? I still have my doubts.
Dan Graziano (12:33 PM)
I think he has that ability. I don't think he was fully healthy this year. Remember, he had those medical issues in the offseason and probably didn't work out as much as usual. But he was a first-round pick, and I promise you they took him with the idea that he might be able to replace Jackson if they didn't keep Jackson around long-term.
Wonderpets (What's Gonna Work? Teamwork!!!)
If you're the Redskins and you have Vincent Jackson and Blackmon falls to 6, do you pull the trigger or trade?
Dan Graziano (12:34 PM)
The phone... The phone is ringing... There's an animal in trouble somewhere... Anyway, good question, Tuck. You could do worse than to give your new QB (whoever that is) two targets like that.
Lupo (Philly)
When will Philly ditch the failed Vick experiment?
Dan Graziano (12:34 PM)
Wow. Failed, huh? Anyway, I think this is the proverbial "make or break" season for Vick (as well as many others) in Philly. If he has the same year he had in 2011, I imagine they move on.
Wildoat (Montreal)
About your Osi thinking: 1) It seems not well enough realized how big it is that he is a strip-sack threat, meaning direct cause of turnovers. That's huge. I think now is time to hope for a SB repeat. Keep him with something like last year's bonus structure with understanding he wants to hang with team and go for it one last time. Giants DL gels better when opposition has to contend with JPP, Tuck and Osi all functioning well & healthy.
Dan Graziano (12:35 PM)
I hear ya. Osi's a fantastic player. As I wrote, there's no way they could replace him with someone as good as he is. But I'm not sure his value is ever going to be higher, and if he's going to leave after next year anyway (which I assume he is, since they don't seem to want to extend him), why not get something now? They have coverage at the position.
oldskooler (in my whirlpool)
having Booth at guard, moving Deihl to thr RT and having Beatty back at LT, the Giants o-line should be okay next season. I see them taking their precious best athlete number 1, RB/WR/TE @ 2 if they're worth it and then adressing the o-line later in the draft.
Dan Graziano (12:36 PM)
We've debated this on the blog, but did we see enough from Beatty to think he's the answer at LT? I didn't.
CHAMP (DC)
Everybody keeps saying that an Asante deal makes sense for the Eagles... please back me up here, DRC is NOT that good of a corner in comparison. Why would AR and co trade away the best corner they have in a "Do or Die" year?
Dan Graziano (12:37 PM)
I agree that DRC is not as good as Samuel. But they're not going to trade DRC. Samuel's salary is high. He's the more expendable guy for them right now, all things considered (i.e., salary, how interested other teams are, etc.)
Jae (California)
Dan,is Fred "the roach" Davis done in DC?
Dan Graziano (12:37 PM)
No way, dude. They're going to franchise that guy. Just watch.
john (new york)
what do u think of the gants rookie linebackers? any keepers?
Dan Graziano (12:38 PM)
Yeah, really liked the way Jacquian Williams came on in coverage as the year went along. Looks like a really useful piece. And I know they're very high on Herzlich, if he can get healthy.
Jason (Westfield)
Do you think if they trade Osi the Giants will make Williams the full time starter at LB and move Kiwi up to DE to maintain that 3 man end rotation?
Dan Graziano (12:39 PM)
If the Giants trade Osi, I believe they would move Kiwanuka back to DE full-time, yes. But I don't know what they'd do at LB. Maybe Williams, maybe a free agent.
gobizzle (D.C.)
If the cowboys don't get Carl Nicks, what do you think their plan should be?
Dan Graziano (12:39 PM)
The guy Grubbs from Atlanta is out there too. Some good FA guard options even if Nicks doesn't hit the market.
gobizzle (D.C.)
Are no cowboys questions besides mine coming in? Anyways, what kind of year do you expect from Dez Bryant. He missed all of his junior year at OSU, then got hurt during rookie season, then the lockout and got hurt again. Finally he'll have a full year of football. I see him breaking out.
Dan Graziano (12:40 PM)
Not getting many Cowboys questions today. As for Dez, I think my regular readers know how I feel. He can be the best receiver in the league if it all comes together for him. He's a physical mismatch against any defensive back in the league. Young, still learning, but no one's more talented.
Bro (Seph)
Grubbs is Baltimore Dan.
Dan Graziano (12:41 PM)
Right. Baltimore. What'd I say? Atlanta? Sheesh. Sorry.
cloister (Philly)
The Philly Fanatic is the best mascot in sports. True or False?
Dan Graziano (12:41 PM)
This is indisputably true.
Brad (Hillside)
I know it is a cliche, but Giants really need to take the best available player(non-QB division) and keep building depth.Sure the need a TE but reaching for players is what makes teams weak.
Dan Graziano (12:41 PM)
Agreed, but the Clemson kid wouldn't be a reach at 32, as I understand it, and would fill a need. Nice to be able to do both, right?
Mike (NYC)
change of pace, what do you like better, the 4-3 or the 3-4? Personally a 4-3 guy.
Dan Graziano (12:43 PM)
I like the 3-4, especially the way a team like San Francisco runs it. So many great players free to do great things. I think the linebackers get lost and/or marginalized in a 4-3 these days.
Rob (Pittsburgh)
So NFL coachs are paid to win Superbowls right? What has Andy Reid been doing - is he under the gun soon? if not, why"
Dan Graziano (12:44 PM)
I just don't get your logic. If you're right, then 31 coaches should be fired at the end of every season.
Josh Jones (Charleston SC)
What do you know about Bruce Carter? I hear a lot of internet rumors about him taking over this year opposite Lee, but I dont know much about him other than he isnt a "thumper" according to Jerry. Does Dallas or anyone else think this guy could be the long term solution?
Dan Graziano (12:44 PM)
Yeah, I mean, he was a second-round pick, right? A first-round talent who dropped because of an injury? I think they have very high hopes for him, and as of now, yes, he projects at the starter alongside Lee.
DWareSmash (Nj)
Doesn't it seem odd that Janoris jumped all the way up to the projected #2 CB spot after having just a good showing at the senior bowl? Shouldn't you rank based on overall college play? Just wondering how he skipped Dre K. so easily.
Dan Graziano (12:45 PM)
Jenkins was always that level of prospect when he was in the SEC. The arrests knocked his stock down, but the word is he's on the straight and narrow. Maybe Senior Bowl just reminded everyone how good he was in the first place.
oldskooler (getting a rub down)
Dan Graziano (12:36 PM)We've debated this on the blog, but did we see enough from Beatty to think he's the answer at LT? I didn't.Reese has never been conventional in his picks. if he and the coaching staff like Beatty, I see them doing their normal drafting practices. it's worked for 2 SB's!oh yeah, I've worked in the sports biz for over 14 years and met a lot of pro athletes, but I never stopped rooting for my fav teams! I call BS Dan!
Dan Graziano (12:47 PM)
I don't know what your job is, specifically, but I feel like mine requires impartiality. Plenty of jobs "in the sports business" in which you "meet a lot of pro athletes" don't. But I think mine does.
Rick (TN)
Being an Auburn fan, I would love to see Jason Campbell sign as Romo's backup. Do you think there is any chance on this happening? If not, what QBs would be possible #2s for Dallas?
Dan Graziano (12:47 PM)
Sure, that'd be a sensible move for Dallas. I'll bet Campbell wants to go some place where he as a chance to start, but if he can't find that, it's realistic.
Daren (Virginia)
I put my comment in 25 min ago is this normal
Dan Graziano (12:48 PM)
This post here is the 500th one since noon. I don't get to them all.
Don (Indiana)
You were pretty harsh on Hatcher earlier in the week. To steal a line, some speak with a passion that goes unheard. Being a good leader requires everything that being an NFL player requires, a precise set of skills.
Dan Graziano (12:48 PM)
I didn't intend to be harsh. Just asking the question: If you think there needs to be more leadership shown, why not show some?
Jules Winfield (walking the earth)
So do you think Dallas will look for a new backup to Romo, then?
Dan Graziano (12:49 PM)
Yes. Definitely. Preferably someone whose wallet says "Bad MF" on it.
Tom (Bloom U)
Do you see the Eagles going after a Big WR in free agency?? There are a lot of them
Dan Graziano (12:50 PM)
If they trade DeSean Jackson, I believe they're more likely to seek a WR2 to pair with Maclin or draft a WR in the first round than to sign one of the big free agents.
TimVB (Arlington)
With London Fletcher almost certain to be resigned, has Riley done enough to secure the starting spot next to him?
Dan Graziano (12:51 PM)
Yeah, they love Riley. He earned that spot last year and I believe they intend to let him keep it.
DWareSmash (Nj)
Is it likely that Dallas is still thinking of drafting DeCastro? Or has that ship sailed? Or does it depend on FA?
Dan Graziano (12:51 PM)
A lot depends on free agency, and it's possible DeCastro's the pick at 14. I just don't feel great about the idea of taking an interior lineman that high. It's a personal preference thing.
Kirklen (Charlotte, NC)
hey dan you should answer my question from earlier
Dan Graziano (12:52 PM)
I don't know. Maybe resubmit it instead of just posting this over and over again?
oldskooler (getting a rub down)
I get that you are a "reporter" and must be impartial. but I still believe you have favorite teams in pro sports. c'mon, were all fans here. btw, my friends on the SB Giants asked how the pineapple tasted.
Dan Graziano (12:52 PM)
Pineapple was delicious. But you, sir, are looking for something that's not there. I do not care who wins these games.
Wildoat (Montreal)
Assuming trade DeSean and look for WR2 scenario: Would the Eagles consider Mario M?
Dan Graziano (12:53 PM)
That wouldn't be a bad way to go.
Andy (Baltimore)
What, Dan, you mean you haven't seen The Help???
Dan Graziano (12:53 PM)
I have seen The Help. The only Best Pic nominee I have not seen is War Horse. The Help was wonderful.
Patrick (NYC)
Is Jason Pierre-Paul the best defensive player in the division right now?
Dan Graziano (12:54 PM)
No, I still think that's ol' DeMarcus Ware out there in Big D.
Uniqua (The Backyardigins)
I've heard that Peyton Manning has said he would be willing to sign with a team for a veteran minimum incentive laden contract (not the Colts). Do you think the Skins could actually get him for this price or is a place like AZ in a weak-ish division with one of the best WR in the game in Fitz more attractive?
Dan Graziano (12:55 PM)
Miami and Arizona, with Brandon Marshall and Larry Fitzgerald, are surely more attractive options. If the Redskins are to sign Manning, they're going to have to show him something first -- a plan, or some actual signings. Fortunately for them, I think this is a situation that will take time to play out. Manning won't be signing early in the free-agent period, I don't think.
Andy (Baltimore)
But don't you agree that Bryce Dallas Howard (BDH) should have been nominated for best supporting actress?
Dan Graziano (12:56 PM)
I don't know. Hilly was evil, kind of shrill. Not a lot of depth to the character. More caricature, for me.
Mike (NYC)
ONe of the biggest stories in the NFC east this year has to be Mike Vick play, he wasn't good at all after making progress last season. I find it interesting that almost nobody talks about this. It somehow has managed to slip through the cracks at every point this season. Its really unreal considering the publicity Vick usually gets, props to his PR team.....
Dan Graziano (12:57 PM)
I agree that Vick has escaped blame to a surprising extent. His turnovers in the first half of the season were the biggest reason they lost a lot of those games.
Jared (LeGrand)
I feel like Plaxico is the missing piece in the Eagles offense. He is begging to come to philly and i think its a no brainer for the Eagles to sign him...do you agree?
Dan Graziano (12:57 PM)
I do not.
Jack (Valley Ranch)
If the Cowboys draft a corner in the first round he wouldnt likely be a starter would he? That doesn't really help us immediately.
Dan Graziano (12:58 PM)
Sure he would. They're cutting Terence Newman, and Scandrick's more of a nickel guy. If they picked a CB in the first round and didn't get one in free agency, I'm sure the draft pick would be looked at as a starter in 2012.
SkinsFan (Chicago, Ill)
Do you have any sense (or intel) about what the Skins plan on doing with Carriker?
Dan Graziano (12:59 PM)
I do not. I know Fletcher is their first priority. They like Carriker and would bring him back, and they have the cap room. But I don't know how far, if at all, their discussions with him have advanced.
Michael Bolton (Office Space)
PC Load Letter? What the f' does that mean?
Dan Graziano (12:59 PM)
Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.
David (Halifax)
Do you see any possibility where the Eagles trade Desean and then trade up for Blackmon? They do have a lot of picks already before they trade Jackson and Samuel
Dan Graziano (1:00 PM)
Yeah, if Jackson is gone, I could see them making a move for Blackmon. Especially if they were able to get a high pick in the Jackson trade. That would help them do it.
Lincoln [via mobile]
You are not funny, not bright, and not a talented writer. And your ugly. Check please!
Dan Graziano (1:00 PM)
Wow. My wife's on the chat!
Dr. H. Doofenshmirtz (Tri-State Area)
Any chance the Redskins are looking at Solial, a true 3-4 NT?
Dan Graziano (1:02 PM)
They like Cofield at the NT, felt like he really grew into it, and they want a guy there with some versatility. Soliai is an interesting guy, though. If the Dolphins move to a 4-3 and let him go, he's the kind of guy you'd move other people around for.
Steve (Massachusetts)
Do you think the Cowboys would be better off trading down a few slots this year? It seems that their biggest needs, CB and C/OG could be found later in the draft or addressed via free agency. Or do you think they should take best player available?
Dan Graziano (1:02 PM)
I think they're going to get a real good DB or pass rusher at that 14 spot.
Dan Graziano (1:02 PM)
And I think they should.
Mike (NYC)
Have you heard what is going to happen to Mike Wallace? Feel like he could fit a need for a couple teams here in the NFC east...
Dan Graziano (1:04 PM)
He'd be a fit anywhere! Sounds like his future in Pitt is in question, as they deal with cap issues. My hunch is they find a way to keep him. He's special.
Bob (Dallas, Tx)
Why does everybody in the Dallas media and you act like just because you think or want to believe romo is this great qb that he really isn't, that your word is gospel on the topic and all who disagree are idiots? Only an idiot can say a qb with a 1-3 playoff record in 9 years is a great qb
Dan Graziano (1:04 PM)
Wait. What?
Don (Indiana)
So assuming Jenkins, Kirpatrick, and Upshaw are available who would you take for the Cowboys?
Dan Graziano (1:04 PM)
Upshaw, I think. But I reserve the right to flipflop on this 100 times between now and the draft.
Derek (home, sick) [via mobile]
Mario Williams to the Eagles? Could play OLB on 1st and 2nd then DE on 3rd downs.
Dan Graziano (1:05 PM)
I'm not saying he's not better than the DEs they have. He is. But the guys they have are really great. You want to spend all of your money and cap room to fill a position where you're already set?
Dillon (DC)
Should every team in the NFCE trade their 2nd rd pick to the Pats so Belicheck can have every pick in the 2nd RD?
Dan Graziano (1:06 PM)
That would be hilarious. He'd be trying to trade with himself!
Ryan (Philly)
Would the Eagles really go with a rookie LB in the first round? Didnt the rookie LB thing just fail this season?
Dan Graziano (1:06 PM)
Well, the rookie FOURTH-rounder thing did.
cloister (Philly)
it's 1:06
Dan Graziano (1:07 PM)
Yup. See ya.
