Chat with Kerri Walsh

Walsh played in the 2000 Olympics on the U.S. indoor volleyball team.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Thursday, two-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh stops by to chat about her Olympic experiences as the London Games are four months away.
Walsh and her partner Misty May-Treanor have dominated on the beach since pairing up in 2000. The pair won gold at both the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. They also won gold at the 2003, 2005 and 2007 world championships and silver in 2011.
To help support the U.S. Olympic team, Walsh has joined Kellogg Company's Team Kelloggs, a group of U.S. Olympic and Paralympic legends, champions and hopefuls. The team will share their personal nutrition habits, including favorite breakfast routines that help them get their day started.
Send your questions now and join Walsh Thursday at 11:45 a.m. ET!

We've got Kerri!
Tina (CA)
What's the hottest you've ever played in?
Kerri Walsh (11:43 AM)
What a good question. I want to say in my first or second year, Misty May and I played in Hong Kong. It was at least 100 degrees, and it had to be 100% humidity. No fresh air. No wind. It was tough, but I loved it.
Matt (Sandusky, OH)
Since you did play volleyball for Stanford, what do you miss most about playing the indoor game now that you are a professional beach player?
Kerri Walsh (11:43 AM)
I miss the energy. It's really something special to be on the team. You're on the court with five others and then the rest on the bench. That's something that I love on the beach. I like that it's just Misty and I together.
Michelle Young (Austin,TX)
If you do not have time to sit down and eat a proper breakfast what is your go to breakfast item on the go?
Kerri Walsh (11:44 AM)
Hands down, multi-grain Eggos with almond butter. It takes two minutes to make and you can walk outthe door with it. And my kids love it.
Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)
Kerri, What other sport would you be playing if you were not playing volleyball?
Kerri Walsh (11:45 AM)
Basketball. It was my first love. I played it in high school. I really enjoyed it. If I weren't playing volleyball, I would absolutely be playing basketball. If I could play in the Major Leagues, I'd pick baseball.
Penny (FL)
With so much time spent in the sun, are you worried about overexposure to the sun?
Kerri Walsh (11:46 AM)
Yeah, absolutely. It's a concern. I'm 33 now and I want to take care of myself. That being said, I have great products that I apply and reapply. I have my hat and my sunglasses. I stay in the shade as much as possible.
Kerri Walsh (11:46 AM)
I do go to dermatologist once a year. I am Irish and we have cancer in the family.
Greg (VA)
how important is it for you to work with Kellogs to support Team USA?
Kerri Walsh (11:47 AM)
I'm so proud. It's so important for me to do the best that I can do. Kelloggs is such a great American brand. I'm so proud to be a part of such a great product and brand. I love that they try to start everyone's day off right. I really appreciate what they're doing and their message.
Dave (Miami)
What do you do when you're not on the court?
Kerri Walsh (11:48 AM)
I like to be around my family. I'm a family girl. I don't live near my parents and my siblings. In my perfect world, we'd have family BBQs every single day. I love music, reading books and being active. I live in LA, so Disneyland is something that I love, especially now that I'm a mommy.
James (NJ)
when do you leave for London
Kerri Walsh (11:49 AM)
We will be on the flight either on July 21 or 22. I can't wait! But I can, because we have few tournaments to get through to get the No. 1 seed in the interim.
Larry (Chicago)
Are you still wearing the kinesio tape? How much has that helped you?
Kerri Walsh (11:50 AM)
Yeah, KT Tape is absolutely a part of my regiment. I just had my fourth shoulder surgery in the fall. It gives me a piece of mind, because it gives me the extra support. I put it on my foot and it helps improve function. I love that it's accessible for everyday athletes, Olympians or not.
Kerri Walsh (11:50 AM)
And it does look pretty cool.
Peter (RI)
How excited are you to play in your third olympics?
Kerri Walsh (11:52 AM)
It's actually my fourth! I have this giddy excitement. I have it every day. I could have a terrible day on the court, and it gets me through. I feel so blessed to be in this position. I just want to do it.
Tim (NYC)
What do you think of people trying to come after you guys?
Kerri Walsh (11:53 AM)
I think it's amazing. Misty and I started playing together when we were 22. The world has embraced the sport and I think Misty and I would like to think we were a part of that. We were really proud of that. We want to be on top again in 2012.
