Chat with Jason Babin

Houston selected Babin with the 27th overall pick in the 2004 draft.
Welcome to SportsNation! On Wednesday, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin stops by to chat about the NFL offseason.
Babin is coming off of a career year in 2011, when he recorded 18 sacks and forced three fumbles. Over the course of the last two seasons, Babin has the third-most sacks in the NFL, with 30.5, trailing only Jared Allen (33) and DeMarcus Ware (34.5).
After spending 2010 with the Titans, Babin signed a 5-year deal with Philadelphia prior to 2011. After being drafted by the Texans in 2004, Babin has gone on to play for the Seahawks (2007-08), Chiefs (2008) and Eagles (2009). Fans can reach him on Twitter: @jasonbabin93.
Send your questions now and join Babin Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET!

We've got Jason!
Jim (Memphis)
What rookie fun to you have lined up for Fletcher Cox?
Jason Babin (12:59 PM)
You have your traditional rookie dinner, which is pretty painless. I think the two new rookie DL, they have small jobs, we have a big fridge in the DL room and they have to fill that up. They have to set up the drills. On Twitter, I set up the #CoxPun. We can keep that alive.
Larry (NJ)
We just had the draft....what was your draft day like?
Jason Babin (1:00 PM)
I was actually in my hometown in Michigan. We had a local restaurant/bar and had the party at their place. We had TV cameras there so they could show the Babin family reaction. It was fun.
Dave (NJ)
How have you spent your offseason?
Jason Babin (1:00 PM)
My offseason has pretty been spent working out. Sprinkling in some fishing and hunting. Nothing too exciting.
Brett (OK)
Jason, I got to ask, since you're a defensive player, thoughts on the bounty scandal suspensions?
Jason Babin (1:01 PM)
It's definitely not something that we promote. This is definitely going to be the end of it when this situation gets cleaned up.
Nathan (Kentucky)
How do you feel your team's draft went? Do you like the picks?
Jason Babin (1:01 PM)
Any time we get a player that helps me succeed, I'm extremely happy. I like to see the draft get us some good guys.
Greg (VA)
what changed for you the last couple of years? You've had some career years.
Jason Babin (1:02 PM)
Really, being with a coach that let's me play the game that most fits my style physically and mentally.
Nathan (Missouri)
What is your favorite stadium to play in?
Jason Babin (1:03 PM)
Away from home, I'm a big steak guy, so any town we play in that's a city with good steak restaurants is good for me.
Dennis (MI)
Do you see the 4-0 finish to the season last year translating over to this season?
Jason Babin (1:03 PM)
I think more than the finish was the gelling of the team and the defense. I'm looking to carrying that over to the offseason and next season.
Sam (Miami)
What's been the biggest thing you've learned during your career?
Jason Babin (1:04 PM)
Hard work and never giving up.
Paul (NYC)
Every year the eagles and Cowgirls get their preseaon accolades and at the end of the year you both are home for the holidays.......why will this coming year be any different?
Jason Babin (1:04 PM)
We'll have to play the games to find out the outcome.
Will (LA)
Best welcome to th eNFL moment?
Jason Babin (1:05 PM)
It was my rookie year, I think, when all of the veteran LBs piled their sweaty pads and said go get those.
Kathy Sutton (Ohio)
Tell me which one of your sons takes after you.
Jason Babin (1:06 PM)
They both share my characteristics, one likes to think things out and the other one doesn't.
Dan (Philly)
Hey Jason, other than Jim Washburn what changed from your first stint in Philly and getting cut to coming back and being an 18 sack machine. Thanks
Jason Babin (1:06 PM)
Playing time.
Nathan (Missouri)
Which player do you try to model your game after?
Jason Babin (1:06 PM)
No, but growing up in Michigan, I used to love to watch Barry Sanders.
Anthony...Omaha Nebraska [via mobile]
How does the rest of the team treat the kickers? Are they really part of the team? Does Alex have to use a different locker room? Or are kickers just one of the guys,
Jason Babin (1:07 PM)
Kickers are part of the team. But they do have different lockerroom times.
Jason Fields (Paoli, IN)
Do You Think With Guys Like Mario Williams And DeMarcus Ware Being Pass Rushing Outside Linebackers in A Defensive Ends Body Make True Defensive Ends Like Yourself Get Overlooked When Talking About Best Pass Rushers In the NFL?
Jason Babin (1:08 PM)
No, those guys were top picks, so they already have a halo around them.
jeremie (Boston) [via mobile]
do you feal when healthy the addition of cox makes you the best d-line in football?
Jason Babin (1:09 PM)
The best defensive line is decided at the end of the year, but we have the pieces.
JEff (Philly)
Pat's or Ginos?
Jason Babin (1:09 PM)
Dennis (MI)
Favorite place to visit in the offseason?
Jason Babin (1:10 PM)
As of late, I have been visiting Alaska the last three years in the offseason for hunting and fishing.
Dave (LA)
any 'one that got away' fishing/hunting stories?
Jason Babin (1:10 PM)
The 1,000-pound marlin escapes me. It took out all of my line in my reel and kept going.
Dave (Ohio)
Are you going to mentor Fletcher Cox and Vinny Curry?
Jason Babin (1:11 PM)
The best thing I can do is lead by example for the young guys.
Fred (MA)
any games you look forward to?
Jason Babin (1:12 PM)
Any time I play in a city that I have friends and family there is exciting because I get to see them for dinner the night before.
Gary (Chicago)
what were you thoughts on the offseason with you guys signing everyone and the dream team?
Jason Babin (1:13 PM)
The Eagles did a great job acquiring free agents and I'm looking forward to see the team gel this year.
Daniel (Miami)
how was it carrying those gators?
Jason Babin (1:13 PM)
Carrying the aligators was easy. Tackling them when they didn't have tape on their mouth was the hard part.
Jason Babin (1:14 PM)
