Any details on this Big12-SEC Bowl Game?
Sean Adams (12:23 PM)
It is supposed to be between the SEC and Big 12 Champions providing that neither of them is playing for the national championship. I have a hard time thinking that will ever happen but that's the way it is set up right now. Jake Trotter will join my show at 1:15 cst to talk about it today. I'm excited about the prospect and the relationship.
Homer (Michigan)
Will we finally have the passing attack that we are use to seeing at UT?
Sean Adams (12:25 PM)
I don't know if it will be one that you are used to seeing from Chris Simms, Vince Young and Colt McCoy but I can imagine a scenario where Ash throws for 1900 - 2000 yards. That would be great for a team with this proposed running game.
Chris (Houston)
Its 4th & goal on the 3. Texas trails OU by 5 and there is 2 seconds left. What play does Harsin call?
Sean Adams (12:27 PM)
Play action getting the QB to the edge with a run/pass option. Yeah that's the easy call but it would give Texas the most options. Watch out for the trick play with a 1% chance of making it. Of course, it's Harsin, it would work.
Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)
Will the Longhorns have a great Football team in 2012?
Sean Adams (12:32 PM)
I don't know if they'll be great. That might have to be a description saved for 2013 or 2014. I do think they will be a very good team and will move in the rankings over the course of the year.
James Maxwell (Ansbach Germany)
Sean..with all the speed we have coming in next year could this be the best special teams Mack has had at texas. Our return game should be really good. Also does Daje Johnson have a shot at the wildcat or is it all J.G.
Sean Adams (12:36 PM)
I agree but they have to have more than speed. They need to get the speed back on the edges to creates turnovers and short fields through blocked kicks and punts.
Xavier Flores (Denver, CO)
If FSU joins the Big12 would Clemson follow or would Louisville be brought in?
Sean Adams (12:38 PM)
Clemson has a bigger football brand but Louisville is worth more. They have a higher revenue than FSU, Clemson, West Virginia and TCU. In the last decade they have been ranked high in football, gone to a final four and been to the college world series.
Eric (Culver City, CA)
We're being sold the idea that the 2012 version of David Ash will be a conservative game manager who won't turn the ball over and will occasionally pick up first downs with his legs. Are we buying in because it's likely to happen, or merely because it is palatable?
Sean Adams (12:42 PM)
I think it will be more than that for Ash. If Texas wins and wins big, Ash will have to make 3 -5 big time plays verses Oklahoma, TCU and West Virginia. If he is the game manager that you describe Texas will go 7 - 5 or 8 - 4. I expect him to be much more than that.
Xavier (Denver, CO)
Any surprise starting freshman this year on offense or defense similar to a Quandre Diggs last year?
Sean Adams (12:44 PM)
I don't think so. Diggs performed at that level and there was a need. Texas is fairly deep when compared against the freshmen coming in.
Homer (Michigan)
How good will the longhorns defense will be?
Sean Adams (12:48 PM)
I think the defense will the best in the Big 12 and it won't even be close. They will be one of the best in the country.
SportsGuyMike (Austin,TX soon Colorado Spring, CO)
Tougher game for Texas Football this year. TCU or Oklahoma?
Sean Adams (12:50 PM)
Oklahoma. They will test the defense at Texas more than TCU will be not by much. Go ahead and throw West Virginia in there too
Major Applewhite (The Bullpen)
Are Hornsnation writers actually allowed to speak Chris Simms name? I thought that was blasphemous in Austin.
Sean Adams (12:54 PM)
LOL, come on man. I was on the sideline at the end of the BCS game against Alabama and turned around and saw Simms. He was rocking a Texas sweatshirt. I said, "Look at you. Glad to see you." His reply, "Come on man, I support my guys." He is one of the nicest players I've ever worked with.
Tony (Richmond, CA)
How excited should Big XII fans be about the annual matchup with the SEC in a bowl game? Will this mirror the old Big 8 Orange Bowl games of the 80s that always had national championshp implications if it didi not determine the champion.
Sean Adams (12:57 PM)
I think people should be crazy excited although I want to see the specifics of the game. The champions from both leagues are usually playing for the championship. So I want to see the timing, what happens with the conference championship game and the implications of the 4-team playoff.
lance (utah )
out of bergeron, brown, and grey who has the most yards this year and who has the most touchdowns?
Sean Adams (12:58 PM)
I'll play. Bergeron will have the most touchdowns and Brown or Grey will have the most yards. It will depend on the health but I will say Brown.
Joe (Mopac)
Hi Sean, when will the Longhorns struggles begin to impact recruiting?
Sean Adams (1:00 PM)
I don't know. If losing to OU six years in a row with some of them beatdowns I doubt anything would hurt their recruiting. It is still the flagship university is a football crazy state.
Homer (Michigan)
Will we finally get our offense back to it's original explosive form?
Sean Adams (1:05 PM)
I don't know if it will be explosive but it will be better. I'm excited to see the growth. They will be versitile and that will be enough.
Ez 28 (Davis,CA)
Bigger year-Brown, Bergeron, or Gray?
Sean Adams (1:05 PM)
Brown but I'm just guessing. This stable of RB's is really good. Health will play a huge part.
Carey (Tyler, Texas)
Hey Sean, excluding Mike Davis/Jaxson Shipley, do you see any incoming freshman (Cayleb Jones, Kendall Sanders, Daje Johnson) that could fill the void at the slot receiver, or as a deep threat target?
Sean Adams (1:08 PM)
I hate putting expectations on the youngsters. All of these young kids will have success depending on the attitude they come to school with. 55 - 60% of recruits never work out. Most of them don't work out because of something they did.
Amando (Houston, tx)
Do you feel that Brewer should already be a backup to McCoy this coming year to allow for 2 years of seperations between him and Swoopes? Otherwise, we might lose either Brewer or Swoopes to transfer because both will not win the starting role. I would rather see McCoy transfer and not either one of them.
Sean Adams (1:12 PM)
That might happen anyway. The one thing Texas cannot do is manage themselves by who might transfer and who may not. Texas cannot make Brewer the backup and press him into duty early to take care of the QB situation two years from now. That kind of decision making crushes programs.
Sean Adams (1:14 PM)
Thank you for all of the great question, I'm getting ready to go on the air, check it out, we'll be talking about the new SEC/Big 12 bowl game.
