NBA Finals Chat Sponsored By Samsung
Chris Mullin (6:59 PM)
Hey everybody! I'm excited for the series and to be a part of this chat. Thanks for all the questions!

Who will win tha battle between KD and LBJ?
Chris Mullin (7:00 PM)
The three-time MVP, LeBron and the three-time scoring champ, Durant will both have their imprint all over the series and will cancel each other out with their dominance. It will come down to the support they get from their teammates in who wins the series.
Jamie, Hartford (Via Samsung )
How big of a factor do you see home court advantage in the Finals? How does the 2-3-2 schedule vary from the the 2-2-1-1-1?
Chris Mullin (7:01 PM)
OKC has a huge home-court advantage. They have such a unique atmosphere, feels like a college crowd. Tonight is important for the Thunder to control their emotions. They might be too excited in the first quarter.
Chris Mullin (7:02 PM)
It's very hard to win the three games in a row in the middle so the Heat would have to win on the road. I do think it will go 7 so this is definitely in favor of OKC.
Tim F., Orlando (Via Samsung )
Is this the beginning of a Thunder dynasty?
Chris Mullin (7:04 PM)
It's a very good possibility. With Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka and Harden all under 24, it's a very strong team. If they can get them all back, they have four key players to build around. To me, they're kind of the Big Four now.
Keith (Detroit) [via mobile]
In 15 years, who will we think of as the better NBA player - Durant or LeBron?
Chris Mullin (7:05 PM)
Good question. I think that will go down like Magic and Bird. Everyone will have a strong opinion on that but ultimately we'll see them as two of the all-time greats.
james, tn [via mobile]
Hey Chris! What reserve player do you think will play the biggest role in this series?
Chris Mullin (7:06 PM)
For sure, James Harden. He's an all-star talent that comes off the bench and I don't think Miami has a matchup for him.
Joe, ALABAMA [via mobile]
Do you think Chris Bosh is finally getting the respect he deserves? He seemed to be the X Factor once he returned from injury.
Chris Mullin (7:07 PM)
He definitely was a huge factor against the Celtics. I think he's respected around the league, he's one of Miami's most efficient half-court players and is a seven-time all-star. Miami is a polarizing team. Personally I have tremendous respect for Chris Bosh.
Trevaun, Memphis (Via Samsung Flight 2)
Is the pressure off of LeBron know that he knows that players other than Bosh and Wade can score double figures?
Chris Mullin (7:09 PM)
I think LeBron has relieved his own pressure. He's done a good job at blocking out the off-court noise. With his performances in Games 6 and 7, he silenced a lot of his critics. It's going to be interesting to see who besides the Big Three can consistently contribute in this series.
MD (CT) [via mobile]
Will LeBron's ill-advised 'Decision' be forgotten if the Heat can win the title?
Chris Mullin (7:10 PM)
I already forgot about it myself. I think some just can't let some things go. I sure hope not but I think some people will never let it go. I think that's more their problem though than LeBron's.
Sam, Connecticut [via mobile]
What do you think will happen to the Celtics' Big Three this offseason? Have we seen the last of the KG-Allen-Pierce trio? Are the Celtics done trying to shop around Rondo?
Chris Mullin (7:12 PM)
There were a lot of rumors in the season about Allen and Rondo being traded, Pierce as well. The only way I see them sticking together is if they can get some talent around them. But I do think they all have a lot of basketball left in them, I'm just not sure it's together. KG, Allen and Pierce are all first-ballot HOFers. They can all play a few more years. They have a lot left in them. Where that is though, we'll have to wait and see.
George, Annapolis [via mobile]
would you rather build a team around lebron or durant?
Chris Mullin (7:13 PM)
That would be a beautiful situation. I can honestly say, I'll take whichever one you don't want and we'll go from there. There's a reason they're both in the Finals now. Both true superstars.
Jose G (Via Samsung )
Do you think LeBron will retire as a member of the Heat?
Chris Mullin (7:14 PM)
Yes, I think he will. I think they'll continue to keep adding around those three to keep making the team better. It's only their second season together, it does take some time to become a cohesive unit.

If the Chris Paul trade from New Orleans to Los Angeles would have gone through, would the Lakers be the best team in the NBA?
Chris Mullin (7:16 PM)
What Chris Paul did for the Clippers was incredible, I think he would have had the same impact with the Lakers. But would that have been pushed them past OKC? That's a good question. But I'm going to have to leave that as speculation.
Chris Mullin (7:17 PM)
It's not like they would have had the same Lakers team though plus Chris Paul. They would have lost some core players in exchange.
Daniel Brown, Louisville (Via Samsung Instinct)
Chris, which season was your favorite or most fun for you as a player?
Chris Mullin (7:18 PM)
I think the two seasons, '90-'91 I believe, I played with RUN TMC was my favorite. Good group of guys.
Blue, Texas (Via Samsung Galazy)
How was it to be on the Dream Team? How brutal were the practices?
Chris Mullin (7:19 PM)
It was the height of my basketball career. I was blessed to be on that team. The practices were fascinating and fun to be at the gym with some of the greatest players of all-time. They call it the "Dream Team" but it really was my dream. It was beyond my dream.
Jack, San Diego [via mobile]
Is your '92 Dream Team the best Olympic team ever? Do you think you guys would beat the current squad?
Chris Mullin (7:23 PM)
Absolutely. Just ask Magic Johnson, he'll tell you. The current squad is going to be the closest and I give so much credit to Stern, Colangelo and Coach K for reorganizing USA Basketball. For awhile we had trouble getting out best to commit and I think we're back where we belong. It's a privilege, not a chore to play for USA. I admire these players. But there's only one Dream Team.
TD [via mobile]
If the Heat lose, is Spoelstra's job in jeopardy?
Chris Mullin (7:24 PM)
No, I don't believe so. I think he's done a really good job. He's done a tremendous job handling a lot of the criticism that comes with that job. They're learned a lot from their losses and gotten better with it. I think he's the right guy for that job.
marcus buffalo ny [via mobile]
who do you think will come off the heat bench and contribute the most.
Chris Mullin (7:25 PM)
That's the biggest question that needs to be answered. OKC has more consistent production from their role players, the Heat will take it from anybody. Anyone outside of the Big Three that can give them help is needed and will be much welcomed.
Chris Mullin (7:27 PM)
Did you mean 35 points? I think 25 is a given for KD unless it's an off night.
will (newark, de) [via mobile]
Do you think that lebron has become the undispurted 'leader' of the heat?
Chris Mullin (7:28 PM)
Yes. Not only by his play but Wade seems to have passed his torch to LeBron as well. It's something I admire about Wade to do that and I think it's helped the Heat and their chemistry.
Zac ,West Palm Beach [via mobile]
If this years Heat team wins , which one is more talented , the one with Shaq in '06, or this years team with LeBron?
Chris Mullin (7:29 PM)
I'll say this, if they don't win the championship, that's not even a valid question. If they win, we can revisit that question.
kyle, washington [via mobile]
How do you think the critics will respond if the heat lose but LeBron plays like he has been?
Chris Mullin (7:31 PM)
I can't really speak for the critics. I can't see how you can criticize the way he's played. The guy is a three-time MVP. They don't just hand out those awards based on nothing. He's one of the greatest players of all time. There are just a lot of preconceived criticism of him out there.
Roy, Honolulu, HI [via mobile]
Hey Chris, who do you think will win this series and why???
Chris Mullin (7:33 PM)
I'm giving a slight edge to the Thunder. I think it's really even, very closely matched and will go seven games. But the Thunder have the home court and they get more prodction from their bench. I think it's going to be a series determined by the perimeter players. Miami doesn't have a matchup for Harden. I think they'll have a huge advantage there.
nick, Chicago [via mobile]
If derrick rose hadn't gotten hurt in the first round and he played his usual all-star self and rip added 20 points a game do u think they would had beaten the heat in the conference finals?
Chris Mullin (7:35 PM)
I think that would have been like this series here, very close. I think the Heat would have beat them. I felt like Chicago was missing another big-time scorer. It probably would have gone seven games. I hope Rose has a speedy recovery, he's one of my favorite players to watch.
Ceasar nyc [via mobile]
If you had to compare yourself with a player in the nba at the moment, who would it be and why?
Chris Mullin (7:36 PM)
That's a tough one. I don't know. I'll have to think about that. Pick some slow guy that can't jump and that's your man.
Miguel - Miami [via mobile]
Is Lebron better than MJ?
Chris Mullin (7:37 PM)
I can't go there right now. To me... No. I didn't see every player in the NBA so the players before in the 60's and 70's, I didn't really watch that much. But from the time I started watching, MJ is the best I've ever seen.
BenB South Carolina [via mobile]
Do you think Dwade is going to be a huge factor in this series considering he hasn't played his best in the last series.
Chris Mullin (7:38 PM)
He's going to have to. The Big Three for Miami is going to have to play at or before their normal status. I expect him to do that. Wade is one of the best players we have, he's a great player. I expect him to have a tremendous Finals.
Joe, Glen Mills, PA [via mobile]
Chris, do u see this being a chippy series between the teams and will the refs be a factor
Chris Mullin (7:40 PM)
I don't anticipate it being chippy. One stat I'll be looking to track is turnovers. OKC went from 16 in the regular season to 11 in the postseason. That's an important stat. I really hope the players and the play of the game is smooth and not a lot of charges. I hope the players dictate everything. Let the stars run the show.
Manny [via mobile]
Chris Seems everyone is picking the thunder. Don't you think people are discounting the fact Miami has had Bosh back for 2 games only and looked pretty dominant since?
Chris Mullin (7:42 PM)
No, I think it's going to be really close. You can't pick both but it's a really slight edge. OKC has a few matchups they can exploit but again, it's a very slight edge. I wouldn't be shocked if Miami could pull it off but I'm taking a somewhat educated guess.
Steve,Washington [via mobile]
Do you think the heat would give up one or two of the big three to get Howard in the upcoming year?
Chris Mullin (7:43 PM)
That's a juicy one. Very good question. I think they would have to consider that. I know I would. He's basically LeBron in the frontcourt.
Grant (Oklahoma) [via mobile]
Do you think Durant will retire as a part of the Thunder? And who do you think will win this series
Chris Mullin (7:44 PM)
Yes, it looks like he's a member of the Thunder for life. He'll get three max contracts and retire with a big smile on his face. He's a pleasure to watch, I love the way he conducts himself on and off the court.
Jamal, Cleveland (Via Samsung)
Do you think a healthy Chris Bosh can be the X factor in these finals?
Chris Mullin (7:45 PM)
He can't be an X factor because he has to be the major factor. He has to be a 20-10 guy. The Big Three need to step up and then the X factors can chip in.
Robin LA, California [via mobile]
If OKC won a game in MIA,, how scared should the heat be on a scale from 1 - 10 (can be anytime during the finals)
Chris Mullin (7:46 PM)
I would say, they won't feel good about it but not many teams can will all the three of those games. Miami is determined to win one of the first two in OKC but it's very difficult to win all of those middle games.
Matt [via mobile]
Who was the hardest practicing person on the dream team? And do Durant/ James have that same work ethic in their game?
Chris Mullin (7:48 PM)
Everybody. Everybody had pretty much the same work ethic. It seems to me Durant and James and extremely hard workers. It shows in the way their teammates follow them. When I watch players like LeBron and Durant and Wade, it's their ability to make the hard things look easy that show their true greatness.
Hank Raber Metlakatla,Alaska [via mobile]
Do you think it will tarnish Lebrons career if he doesnt win a ring in Miami? Enjoy the series all!
Chris Mullin (7:50 PM)
A lot of great players don't get rings. I think he's going to but people judge above and beyond for players like LeBron. It's almost unfair but it's reality. It's not going away. That's how those great players are judged. I don't necessarily agree with it.
Munglife CA [via mobile]
What do the GS Warriors have to do in order to get our team back in playoffs?
Chris Mullin (7:51 PM)
First on the list, get healthy. Really key for Curry and Bogut. I think if those two guys are healthy, the team will really be on their way to some real success.
Jose,New York [via mobile]
If Miami loses what do you think will be needed to finally achieve their goal? likewise if the Thunder lose?
Chris Mullin (7:53 PM)
Miami are still looking for a true point guard. That will no happen what, win or lose. OKC has everything right now. They might tinker here and there with role players but this team has progressed but is on track to be a dynasty.
marcus buffalo ny [via mobile]
should the heat have chris bosh come off the bench sense it worked so well against the celtics
Chris Mullin (7:55 PM)
Very good question. To me that's a big decision for Spoelstra. I think he's worked his way back to play starters minutes. Adding Bosh to the mix off the bench seems to work okay. I'll be lookimg more for his prodcution as oppose to whether he starts or not. His production will be the most important thing.
Brayan Reyes [via mobile]
If the Thunder beat the Heat will Kevin Durant be considered better than Lebron?
Chris Mullin (7:56 PM)
I think he's right there. LeBron got his third MVP this year but I don't think anyone would have been surprised if KD got it, it's that close.
Chicago [via mobile]
Will the fact that Lebron James and Kevin Durant workout together during the off season effect the series?
Chris Mullin (7:57 PM)
I don't think so. I saw some clips, it looked like they were were working hard. I like that they worked out together and trained but it won't be a huge factor.
George Dallas,TX [via mobile]
If KD losses the finals will he have more pressure and criticism on him then lebron had back in 07 and last year?
Chris Mullin (7:58 PM)
No, I think it's impossible to reach the level of scrutinity LeBron has faced.
Chris Mullin (7:58 PM)
Thanks for all the great questions. Enjoy Game 1 and I think it's going to be a tremendous series to watch with some of the greatest stars. Let's do this again. It got me excited for the game! I got my game face on.
