Rank the BCS conferences going into the 2012. How good is the ACC going to be?
Sean Adams (12:17 PM)
SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12, ACC, Big East
Curt (Abilene, TX)
Why the hate for TCU (I follow you on twitter)? Do they not deserve to be in the Big 12?
Sean Adams (12:24 PM)
I love TCU and really like Coach Patterson. Just had a friendly conversation about why DCTF decided to put them on the cover. Texas A & M is a much bigger story. But apparently they were chosen because they are going to be good in 2012. No hate what so ever. I have always thought that TCU doesn't bring a TV market with Texas and Oklahoma already owns that market. I like them as a program.
Jimmy K (Toronto)
Hey Sean, glad RSJ made his way down to Austin yesterday for a visit with Barnes and Mack changed his plans to be there. How well did the trip really go?
Sean Adams (12:27 PM)
From what I have heard, the visit went really well. They were able to talk about issues on both sides. This will still come down to LSU and Texas although the Aggies did get a visit.
is RSJ committing to texas again as a football and basketball commit, and how will he help texas in bball? Hook'em \m/
Sean Adams (12:32 PM)
This one will come down to LSU and Texas. I don't like the two sport athletes in football and basketball. They always have one that they focus on more than the other and he needs to figure that out or he'll be average at both. Maybe he should call Jermichael Finley. He's such a good athlete that he can be really good at both.
What do you make of the Swaim offer? Seems really odd to me that Texas would be the first to offer.
Sean Adams (12:38 PM)
I thought the same thing that Texas was his first offer but it was the relationship that Harsin had with his coach. He didn't have the numbers that would make him a big time recruit and Texas doesn't need him to be a big time pass catcher. They need him to block, raise the talent level at the TE position and grow as a pass catcher.
Chris (Richmond, TX)
Which under the radar team on the schedule could give Texas the most problems?
Sean Adams (12:41 PM)
I don't know that they are under the radar but because everyone talks about Oklahoma, TCU and West Virginia, people have not talked a lot about Kansas State. They finished 15th in the country last year and only had one player drafted. Snyder does more with less than just about any coach in the country. And we all know that Kansas State is to Texas what Texas was to Nebraska.
Sean, share with us something interesting that you have recently heard. (RE: UT, sports, life, anything really...)
Sean Adams (12:49 PM)
The freshman class (class of 2012) at Texas are a bunch of solid kids in football and academics. I have heard a ton of great things about class. I also heard that Chili's is not bringing back the Paradise Pie in the skillet. Bad news.
Gary (The Woodlands, TX)
Thus far does it really seem as though Mike Davis has stepped his game up? We hear about this every spring so I was wondering if this year was any different than the rest.
Sean Adams (12:53 PM)
Who knows if it is any different? But I think Mike Davis is going to have a huge year. He's got a new roommate, a settled QB position and we all know he has the skill.
Please tell me RSJ will committ!!!
Sean Adams (12:58 PM)
When was the last time you knew a couple that was engaged and then broke off the egagement, gave the ring back and then still got married and lived happily ever after? It doesn't happen very often. If it happens, it could happen with Texas. Never count Mack Brown out of anything but history will tell you different.
Jake Maulerson (Celina,TX)
What position do I end up playing?
Sean Adams (12:59 PM)
Any position that will help you spell your last name right?
Ez 28 (Davis, CA)
Team most likely to upset Texas this year?
Sean Adams (1:00 PM)
I say Kansas State but some wouldn't call that an upset.
Tony (Richmond, CA)
Is joining the SEC what is providing such a boost to A&M recruiting? Or is it Mike Sumlin at a big school that is attracting more top players that always liked him, but wanted to go to a higher profile school than Houston?
Sean Adams (1:04 PM)
I think it is both. Race was always a factor that was used against Texas A&M because of the 'jar heads' and College Station. He's had success and the SEC is appealing. They better win this year or some of the Sumlin and SEC shine will wear off.
Tony (Richmond, CA)
How many 1st Team All Big XII performers will Texas have on defense?
Sean Adams (1:09 PM)
Jeffcoat, Okafor and Vaccaro. Hard to not say the CB's or one of the DT's but I'm trying to not be greedy.
I love Texas football but can't see more than 7-8 wins this year. What's your take?
Sean Adams (1:11 PM)
I would be way off if they win six or seven. I look at the schedule and think every game can be won but will call West Virginia, Oklahoma, TCU and Kansas State push games. If they win half of those they will go 10 - 2. I have already said 9 - 3 for the season as my prediction.
In the big 12 blog on the longhorns schedule breakdown Ubben said texas is slightly favored to win against West Virginia. How do you feel on that? I feel texas as more as the under dog against the most explosive team in the Big 12. I do think they can win, just don't see if they should be favored.
Sean Adams (1:13 PM)
The Big 12 is much different than the Big East. I was shocked that WVU was the dog against Texas but never thought it would be by much. It is a push game to me.
In your opinion shoud Vince have won the Heisman the year Reggie Bush won? Any doubt he would have won if they votes after NC game? What about Colt? I felt like he should have won the year Bradford did. I know there are differing opinions about what qualifies a player to win the Heisman, but Colt meant more to our team than Bradford to OU. If you swapped the two QBs OU would have been just as good if not better, but I feel Texas would have dropped off quite a bit with Bradford at QB. Remember the O line back then? Bradford (and his lack of mobility) would not have been able to do what Colt did. The season Colt had that year was unbelievable!!
Sean Adams (1:14 PM)
Agree with you with both of those but the VY one more. Heisman wants to matter so they do it during the season as opposed to after.
What is your Gut feeling that Texas gets Ricky Seals-Jones. And at the end of the day to whatever college he chooses do you think he ends up playing basketball at the school of his choice?
Sean Adams (1:15 PM)
Gut tells me that history never lies but if any school can pull it off, it's Texas. Football is his game. Just my opinion.
Seriously, what is going on in Waco? I don't understand how Scott Drew is suddenly pulling in multiple nationally ranked bball recruits every season!! These are guys Texas should be getting! I'm nervous that Drew has built a strong relationship with Arlington Grace Prep (Oak Hill Academy of the South) coaches/players and will just keep grabbing these guys every year. Texas staff has to stop this!! It is beginning to feel like (regarding basketball only) Baylor has passed Texas as the "it" university in Texas!! This truly bothers me.
Sean Adams (1:18 PM)
Baylor is doing a great job right now and you have to give them props. Momentum is everything now and kids know they can go anywhere and get to the NBA. Baylor had a better year that Texas this past school year. Sustaining the success is the thing. We'll see.
Will you be attending the RRR this year? If so how many corn dogs will you have? Ketchup or mustard?
Sean Adams (1:19 PM)
Of course I will. Always Mustard and I'll set the over/under at 3.
Sean Adams (1:19 PM)
Have a great weekend. Same time same place next week. Holla!!!!
