Chat with Tom Lemming

Brett will be here at about 1 ET. Thanks for all the questions and keep them coming.
Brett Gallimore (12:59 PM)
Hey everyone. I'm here and ready to take your questions.
Rick (Washington, DC)
Did you experience any "negative recruiting" during this process?
Brett Gallimore (1:00 PM)
Not really. But when it was time to say no, some coaches were more upset about it than others.
Terrell (Detroit, MI)
For Brett Gallimore, Are you and Tony Temple friends, and if so have you guys discussed going to the same school?
Brett Gallimore (1:01 PM)
I know Tony. We're not really good friends, but we have chatted about recruiting. We have no plans to attend the same school.
George
Who has cooler uniforms, FSU or Michigan?
Brett Gallimore (1:01 PM)
Actually, I kike both their uniforms.
Chris (Clearwater, FL)
Brett, We'd certainly love you in a Garnet and Gold Uniform but I understand that there are decisions that you have to make for yourself. Would you explain your thoughts between the two schools and pros and cons for them? Remember, the weather is much warmer in Tally!
Brett Gallimore (1:03 PM)
At Michigan -- I liked the people and the offensive line coach. I also liked the folks at Florida State. The game atmosphere's at both places are terrific. Education-wise, I think Michigan might be a little better.
Dennis....Haslett, Michigan
When walking around school or your hometown, how many times a day do you hear someone literally shout out from a distance what school you should attend?
Brett Gallimore (1:04 PM)
Every day. All my friends want me to go to FSU because of the weather. My teachers are also always offering advise.
Tony (Tallahassee,FL)
Has the recruiting process been what you imagined it would be?
Brett Gallimore (1:06 PM)
No. When I first started it was awesome. As you go along, you learn more every day. There were lots of surprises and the more you are in it the more you learn how the game is played.
Scott Michigan
Brett, I read that you had 129 pancake/knockdown blocks this year. How did you get so many?
Brett Gallimore (1:07 PM)
I'm not sure. Firing off the ball helps, though.
Dave (Grand Rapids)
Brett, do you read the recruiting internet sites?
Brett Gallimore (1:08 PM)
I have, yes. Right now there are so many stories about me it's hard to read them all, but I try. My dad likes to read that stuff too.
Mitch(tally)
enough already, who is it going to be?
Brett Gallimore (1:09 PM)
Michigan. I just feel more comfortable there and really enjoyed Coach Moore, who recruited me and will be my position coach. I really think I will fit in with the players at Michigan too.
Chris - Cumming, GA
What ultimately made your final decision for you? Team? Coaches? Academics? Depth Charts? Best wishes for a great career...
Brett Gallimore (1:10 PM)
The coaches and talking to the current players. I got to know Jake Long and he really helped me out -- answered a lot of questions.
Jerry (Ann Arbor, MI)
Brett, what type of a player do you feel you are, a Big Ten type (down and dirty, 3 yards and a cloud of dust) or more of just get the job done type?
Brett Gallimore (1:11 PM)
I'll go with the first one. I think I'm a Big Ten-type player.
Josh (lafayette , LA)
What do u feel is your greatest aspect? size? strength? technique?
Brett Gallimore (1:12 PM)
I'd say it's my technique and footwork. The strength will come in to play later.
Tex Michigan
You sound like you like to run block first and pass block second. Is that correct?
Brett Gallimore (1:13 PM)
I can do both, but I would rather hit someone first before they come to me.
Brian, La Crosse, WI
Brett, will you play OG or OT at Michigan?
Brett Gallimore (1:13 PM)
I'll start off at tackle -- either left or right. But I may move to guard if they need someone there.
Andrew (Boston)
You have only been at Michigan for a few minutes but do u already hate Ohio State?
Brett Gallimore (1:15 PM)
I don't hate Ohio State. As time goes on after I get to Ann Arbor, I'm sure I'll learn too.
Charlie - Birmingham, AL
Brett, welcome to the Wolverines. Do you plan to redshirt or play next year?
Brett Gallimore (1:16 PM)
I plan to redshirt. That's what I would prefer to do, it should help my development and give me time to increase my strength.
Pat(Minneapolis)
Bret, approximately how many camps did you attend in the summers during HS?
Brett Gallimore (1:17 PM)
I went to a KU camp as a freshman and Nebraska as a sophomore.
Mark (Lincoln)
Did you feel pressure to commit to Missouri or to a Big 12 school, being from that part of the country?
Brett Gallimore (1:18 PM)
Not really. The coaches from Missouri did not pressure me at all.
Patrick (Michigan)
Brett what is your favorite foods to eat. Ann Arbor has some sweet pizza..
Brett Gallimore (1:19 PM)
We ate at the Chop House when I was in Ann Arbor and I really liked that place.
Brett Gallimore (1:20 PM)
Thanks for all the questions. I look forward to becoming a Wolverine.
Moderator (1:20 PM)
Tom will be right with us.
Carlos (L.A.)
Hey Tom, with the tranfer of Matt Moore from UCLA that does that help us in recuiting Rocky Hinds?
Tom Lemming (1:24 PM)
Yes it does. Rocky has always had UCLA right up there with USC. With Matt Tuiasosopo committing to Washington, if Rocy was looking for early playing time, the Bruins should be his first choice.
Michael (Henderson,TN)
Tom, what's the latest on Brian Brohm- or Brent Schaffer? Any good news at all for vol fans?
Tom Lemming (1:27 PM)
The latest on Brian is that Tennessee has a commitment from Erik Ainge, which probably draws Louisville, Kentucky and Notre Dame closet to the Vols.
Brent Schaeffer is still K-State, Tennessee and South Florida. He's also still looking at ND and Auburn.
Ryan(Lansing)
I didn't see Will Johnson on your top 100 list, is it because of the injury? How much do you think that will affect him next year?
Tom Lemming (1:29 PM)
Yes, it's definitely because of the injury. He was on my preseason top 100. When healthy, he is a talented two0way tackle. He could become a good guard in college, but he prefers defense. He should be completely healed by the summer when he reports to Ann Arbor.
Brek (CA)
Where is Keith Rivers leaning lately?
Tom Lemming (1:30 PM)
In a recent conversation with Keith, he said there was no definite lean. I got the impression that USC and Florida had separated from OU and FSU.
Travis (Austin,Tx)
Hey Tom whats the deal with Xavier Lee, do you think the Longhorns have a chance at him?
Tom Lemming (1:32 PM)
Xavier has been leaning to FSU most of the year -- up until the commit of Drew Weatherford, but he since decided to look at Ohio State, Auburn and Texas to see if there is a better alternative than signing along with another Blue Chip QB at FSU.
Bart (OK)
Is there any truth to the rumors that Rhett Bomar is reconsidering his pledge to OU?
Tom Lemming (1:34 PM)
I have not heard the rumors that Bomar is reconsidering, but I'll be with Rhett in a couple of days and will ask him directly. If a 6th year for Jason White is fueling that rumor, it shouldn't. Most QBs realize a redshirt year is a good thing.
David (Baltimore)
Where is Derrick Harvey leaning?
Tom Lemming (1:35 PM)
I believe Miami and Maryland lead Tennessee, Florida and Georgia for Harvey.
Pete (Columbus, OH)
whats the delay with Teddy Ginn and the buckeyes?
Tom Lemming (1:36 PM)
The delay is that Ginn will make his announcement on Jan. 3 at the U.S. Army Game. I'm pretty sure he knows where he is going, but he's waiting for that day. My guess is it will be Ohio State over USC and Michigan.
Jason (TX)
Who in your mind can make the biggest impact as a true freshman, for there team next year.
Tom Lemming (1:38 PM)
Brian Brohm, Adrian Peterson, Ted Ginn, Xavier Carter and Early Doucet. It should come from someone in this group.
Scott-London, England
Hey Tom! I'm over here in the UK and don't get much news on REAL football. All I hear about is goalies and forwards, so I was just wondering if you could let me know how Texas A&M is going to fair and who is their headliner. Cheerio!
Tom Lemming (1:42 PM)
London, England is my favorite town in the world. I'm jealous! The Aggies headliners are QB Stephen McGee, CB Kerry Franks and DT William Morrisey and Chris Smith. They are four Blue Chippers. The Ags are still after Franklin Okam, DJ Davis and Adrian Peterson.
Dan (St. Louis, MO)
What's the latest with Tony Temple? Is he leaning towards either Mizzou or K-State?
Tom Lemming (1:43 PM)
The latest on Tony, who is also playing in the U.S. Army game, is that he says they are dead even. Rumors around the KC area have him leaning towards Mizzou.
John Concord, CA
I've been hearing around my school that Cameron Colvin from De La Salle is strongly leaning towards Miami, FL. Is this the case or are USC and Michigan still in the race for the receiver?
Tom Lemming (1:46 PM)
Miami has moved up to join USC and Michigan as his leaders. He says none of these are a clear-cut leader.
Art (Cleveland)
Tom, do you have a list of players that intend to commit at the US Army game? I can't wait to watch it.
Tom Lemming (1:49 PM)
These are the kids who may commit at the U.S. Army Game -- Ted Ginn, Brian Brohm, Adrian Peterson, Tony Temple, Marlon Favorite, James Bryant, Jeff Schweiger, Doug Dutch, Kyle Mitchum, Willie Williams, Roland Martin, Simeon Castille, Drew Miller and Ryan Baker.
Tom Lemming (1:50 PM)
I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Our next chat will be from San Antonio with some of the nation's top uncommitted players.
