Care to take a revised guess at Ash's total TD & INT numbers this season? What about J Gray? How many TDs will he have at the end of the season?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:05 PM)
I believe I originally said 2,000 passing yards and 20 TD's and 11 ints. Somewhere along in there. I'll hold at the TD's even though it could go up. I'll take the yards up to 2400 and the interceptiosn down to 8. With Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Oklahoma coming up and those three being better than any team that Texas has faced so far, I fear a few turnovers may come. It's the price of playing this game. Brady, Brees and Manning throw picks.
Any update on Jordan Hicks? Do you think he plays next weekend against OSU?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:08 PM)
Jordan's injury is so tricky but being an off week, information is hard to come by. If I had to guess based on what I've gathered, I doubt that he will play against Oklahoma State. They need him for every game but really need him for WVU and OU. The good thing is that he will be back at some point.
Mike (Austin )
Do you think K State will beat OU?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:10 PM)
No I do not think they will beat them. K State comes into this game getting no respect based on last years blowout loss to OU. That is where Bill Snyder loves to be with his group. I think they play within the number at 16.5 but think they lose the game by 9 - 11.
Malcolm Brown (Austin)
My man Sean, what else do I need to do to convince people that I am the best running back our Horns have to offer? I know we are loaded, and I love J.G. and J.B. a lot, but am I not simply a work-horse when called upon?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:14 PM)
I'm giving Malcolm all sorts of love. He's the man. He is in a loaded backfield and he loves that too. Malcolm will get his time to shine and the whole position will shine in the Big 12. One of the best backfields in the country.
Mason (Auburn, Al)
Will Quandre Diggs be the best CB in the nation by the end of next year? If you could tell our defense one thing, what would it be after 3 games.
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:16 PM)
Quandre The Giant will be one of the best in the country by the end of this year. I would tell the defense that football is honest. If you can produce, you get to play. You don't have to be a star, you just have to do your job. All 22 guys on the two-deep have a role the play and if each one if committed to their role, the Texas defense will be lights out good.
Will Vince Young ever make an NFL roster again? From time to time I've wondered how the national media would think of Vince historically as an all-time great college player had he come back for his senior season and replicated his junior year performance (or topped it). Your thoughts? Also, how would that affect how Texas fans think of Colt McCoy, who would no longer be a 4 year starter and would not have had a chance to become the NCAA all-time wins leader?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:21 PM)
I keep reading the tweets and communication from VY to the public and I don't get the thought process and question whether he will get a shot again. Regardless he is still one of the best college players I'm ever seen and I feel blessed to have been able to be at both Rose Bowls to see him show out. If he comes back in 2006, Texas would have won the MNC in my opinion but I can never argue with him for leaving. Both would still go down because McCoy still would have won the Maxwell. I still think McCoy was more deserving of the Heisman in 2008.
What do you project the Longhorns' record to be after this upcoming 4-game stretch? Is sitting at 6-1 too much to ask for?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:26 PM)
I don't think 6 - 1 is too much to ask I still can't tell you which game they will lose. They can beat all four teams but I think all four teams can beat them as well. That is the beauty of having a conference where a lot of the teams are good. Let's just say that even given the flaws of the season so far, the defense at Texas is better than the other four. That will tell you which way I'm leaning.
Do you think DJ Monroe gets more than a couple touches against OSU?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:30 PM)
Yes he should get between 4 - 8 touches. He has done nothing but prove himself worthy of the snaps and the coaching staff is comfortable with him making big plays for the Longhorns.
Derrin (Plano, TX)
Who has been the biggest surprise/disappointment at this point in the season for the Horns?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:35 PM)
My biggest surprise so far has been Bryan Harsin. After the Ole Miss game, I think we all can tell that he knows what he wants to do with the offense. We have seen the vision. While we are all going to have to wait to see him coach this offense out of pressure, a losing situation or against a premium defense I think we can all see the goal. The biggest disappointment has probably been the overall play of the defense. Yeah, that's a stretch. All of the mistakes are fixable so we will see them get better every week but I was one of the folks that thought the defense would dominate from the start of the season.
Which team do you think will be a hardest test for the Horns? WVU, OU or K-state?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:38 PM)
K State if I want to play with the history. KSU has been to Texas what Texas was to Nebraska in the Big 12. WVU is in Austin. The toughest game will be Oklahoma and that was an easy choice for me.
This league is crazy. With the exception of Kansas any team can beat any other team. Agree?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:40 PM)
For sure. I'm glad you took Kansas out of the equation. Texas Tech is going to surprise some people this year with their improved play of defense. You start listing pretty good football teams and you get to 9 really fast.
A lot of Ash's balls in the Ole Miss game were under thrown and not with good timing, he will face better pressure in the coming weeks and db's that can tackle as well as make a play on the ball. Do you think he has truly improved or could Garrett Gilbert be this successful with this good of o-line and running game play?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:44 PM)
I'll just leave GG out of it. Lord knows he's just trying to get it done for the Pony's. He did have balls under thrown but some of those deep balls were 'trust issue' throws. He holds the ball until he sees a guy come open instead of throwing him open. He will get better. I believe he even knows that he cannot perform at the same level that he did at Ole Miss. Like Bill Parcell's always preached to his QB's, "Get the ball out!" I'm sure he is hearing a lot of that.
How many juniors do you think will declare early for the NFL draft? Jeffcoat, Byndom, Hicks, Davis are all posibilities I suppose. Who do we lose and who comes back to try to win a national title?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:48 PM)
I think the only one I think about right now is Jeffcoat and I don't think he has the financial pressure that some other juniors have in whether or not they should leave early. Call me crazy, I think most of this team comes back intact.
Thomas (San Antonio)
I know it's rash, but if Byndom performs poorly again when we play OSU, do you think Diaz looks to bench him? Regardless of what he did last year, we need this years best CBs on the field (Not saying he isn't our best, but he hasn't performed like it)
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:50 PM)
No, no, no, no and no. We'd be crazy to say he has not had his struggles but he will show and prove at some point this year. I believe that. Texas is better with him on the field.
Sean Adams, HornsNation (12:54 PM)
Yes he will cut down on the explosive plays. He won't be able to cut them out because they have really good players too. The defense has been feast or famine and that's the kind of defense that it is. It is high risk but high reward. I still say that this defense needs premium play from the DT spot to be hugely successful.
Tony (Richmond, CA)
What will Texas have to prepare for with Walash at QB instead of Lunt?
Sean Adams, HornsNation (1:01 PM)
Walsh can run the ball and adds the threat of him being mobile to the offense. He does not have the arm that Lunt has and obviously lost the job to him so he might be missing other things as well. Running ability is something they will have to look out for.
Sean Adams, HornsNation (1:01 PM)
Thanks everyone. Same time next week.
