Stephania Bell (11:09 AM)
Good morning everyone. Rushing to join you from the studio set. Thanks for your patience. So, how many people had Amendola playing for them last night? Tough to see him go down with the injury. No definitive word just yet.
Can we trust Julio this week? Last week they made it sound like everything was fine as well. If we have another safer option, like Eric Decker, who would you recommend that someone play?
Stephania Bell (11:11 AM)
Andy: I'm thinking this is a better week for Jones. And I go with him.
HARD JUSTICE (ENFORCE THIS)
Stephy bad news! I traded Amendola and Mikel LeShoure for Reggie Bush. The trade was precessed yesterday before the game. Well Amendola is now injured and the owner is crying foul. Should the trade be voided?
Stephania Bell (11:11 AM)
No. If it was processed before, how would you be able to predict the future? It's a gamble for any player, any trade.
Chad Raush (Bay City, MI)
Any update on Lance Moore?
Stephania Bell (11:12 AM)
Chad: Just that the hamstring kept him out of practice so far this week. Not particularly encouraging.
Hello...! What is the word with Jahvid Best? Thinking of picking him up and stashing him away. Any chance he comes off the pup list? What have you heard?
Stephania Bell (11:14 AM)
Daniel: I think it's risky. He has not taken any follow-up tests recently and there is no indication that he'll be cleared when the time comes. Unless you have tons of room, I'd rather have others on my bench.
Adam (Arlington Hts, IL)
Any timetable for when Greg Jennings might be back to full strength? I was offered him in a trade for Mikel Leshoure and wanted to know what the likelyhood is for a full recovery this season.
Stephania Bell (11:15 AM)
Adam: Jennings was very careful to say there's no timetable but he also said he'd be close to 100% before returning. After one setback, he won't risk another. All of which makes me think he'll miss more than just this week.
Which injury is less "nagging" between FJax and P Garcon? I need to play one of them and I'm concerned about both, esp FJax in a knee brace vs SF.
Didn't have Amendola, but started Ryan Williams....what's up with him?
Stephania Bell (11:18 AM)
Molly: The brace doesn't worry me...and actually helps provide some form of stability (even if doesn't completely guarantee against injury) whereas with Garcon's foot, there really is no measure of stabilizing the foot without significantly compromising his function. Garcon says he's improving but also admits to being less than fully healthy. I'm probably more comfortable with Jackson at this point.
Stephania Bell (11:20 AM)
Brian: Sorry, out of order. Williams says he took a big hit to his left shoulder and felt it go numb. He says he was told not to get up right away while they checked him out. No word from the team as to what they're calling the injury but Williams says he wants to play next week.
How concerned are you about Hakeem Nicks? Is he dealing with two injuries?
Stephania Bell (11:23 AM)
Karyn: He is dealing with two injuries. THe foot, as we know, is coming off surgery from the summer. I think the foot has improved but he still has soreness, not unexpected actually. I don't think the foot would be as big of an issue if he didn't also have the knee injury from Week 2. We didn't hear about the knee until late last week b/c Nicks has only been practicing once a week and didn't test it until late. There's no way they let a guy coming off foot surgery play with a bad knee.
Deep league question: Julio's hand has been the most discussed, but what about Edleman's? What is the exact type of injury that he has. Thx!
Stephania Bell (11:24 AM)
Clint: WIsh I could be of more help here. They have not offered a specific diagnosis but it is of concern that he hasn't practiced at all yet. If he's not out there today, assume he sits another week.
First off, thanks for all your hard work each week, this can't be easy almost diagnosing a player from afar. With that said, what have you heard about Rashard Mendenhall this week? Is it a case of slowly working him back into mix or is he all in? Thanks again!
Stephania Bell (11:27 AM)
Jeremy: Thank you. Some things are easier than others. Like observing Mendenhall's progress - which the Steelers have been pretty forthcoming about. I think (assuming he plays, which we expect) that he will see a fair number if touches but they are playing a tough Eagles D. I don't think he gets regular Number One work this week but if all goes well, don't think it takes long.
How 'bout them Niners.... Any word on Ben Tate's injured toe? Is he expected out more than one week? Do you feel he has value long term? Thanks !!
Stephania Bell (11:29 AM)
Alex: Tate is not definitively out for this week yet. Now, it is a gamble seeing as they play Monday night and he won't test the toe until Saturday, but still, that possibility makes it hard to say now that he'ds miss multiple weeks. Definitely value long-term unless we come to find out this is something more severe...but doesn't sound that way yet.
Dave (Chicago, IL)
Any update on Vincent Brown's recovery? Also, what are you hearing about Kenny Britt?
Stephania Bell (11:31 AM)
Dave: We ahven't heard much other than coach Norv saying he's on schedule. I'd like to see him once he can get back to practice, see if he has any limitations, etc before I'm convinced he'll jump right back in the lineup, but certainly there's no bad news to report. Britt, still bothered by the ankle. I've always felt he was a big injury concern and this hasn't changed my outlook.
Hi Stephania. Maclin was dropped in my league..What do you expect ROS from him? Thinking of dropping Nate Washington for him. Thanks!
Stephania Bell (11:33 AM)
John: I still think Maclin is their top option. He has dealt with his share of soft tissue injuries and probably will be a little risky in that department, but most receivers are. Last week was a fluke I think. Expect much better productivity out of him going forward.
any word on Aaron Hernandez return??
Stephania Bell (11:35 AM)
Keith: No one talking return just yet. Yesterday was the first day of practice and he worked primarily individually. Good to see him get out there but long ways to go to be game ready (I don't see it this week) but I think this is encouraging for potentail return within next 2-3 weeks. Was always considered a 4-6 week injury and it's only 3 weeks now.
Jeri (By the Bay)
Morning Steph, in your opinion are injuries to stars dealt with more caution than say injuries to offensive or defensive linemen. Meaning the lower on the pay scale, the more likely you will need to get back out there ASAP, even if injury is not cleared up?
Stephania Bell (11:36 AM)
Jeri: Don't think so at all. Medical staff does not distinguish between "stars" and others. Positional demands may (or may not) allow injured linemen to play at times where a similar injury would affect a skill position differently. That is all.
Do you expect Forte to get his full compliment of touches this week?
Stephania Bell (11:38 AM)
Daniel: I think he bumps up the activity, but not full work yet. And remember, this is a fluid situation. They will increase his work if it looks like he can handle it but when playing while still recovering, guys are a little more vulnerable to setbacks.
Hi Stephania. I need to start two out of Ridley, Morris and Reggie Bush. I thought Bush's hip was going to make this an easy decision, but he's been practicing and is ranked very high. What is the latest on him, and which two would you go with?
Stephania Bell (11:41 AM)
Mike: That is a tough one. I don't see Bush's hip as a big deal, for the reasons you mention (and there's just not much chatter about it coming out of FL). I do like Morris and for once the Redskins seem committed to a primary back. I probably go Morris and Bush, but it makes me nervous.
Should I drop R.Williams to pick up P.Thomas? seem like Cards Olines not doing to well..
Stephania Bell (11:44 AM)
Kevin: I agree, as evidenced by last night's terrible blocking situation. THe thing is that Williams has so much upside and Thomas, who shows flashes of great, is so inconsistent. I'm not sure I make the move.
In terms of Spillers recovery, do you think he's 100%? Do you see fumbling issues because of less strength while recovering? Thanks
Stephania Bell (11:46 AM)
Sandra: No, not yet. Or at least I haven't seen the evidence that it's totally behind him. But I think it's essentially a non-issue from a practice/play perspective. He's not on the injury report and they're not going to restrict his play because of the shoulder (barring a setback of course).
What is going on with Peyton Hillis's ankle? Will he be back soon?
Stephania Bell (11:47 AM)
Stephanie: KC called it a sprain but he still has not practiced. Hard to project him being back soon when he's not yet practicing.
Do you still consider Ryan Mathews at risk to re-injure his clavicle, or is this behind him? Also, for ROS do you prefer Mathews or Reggie Bush?
Stephania Bell (11:49 AM)
Dan: No, I think while it's not IMpossible, you have to view it like the risk at this point not necessarily greater than anyone else stepping on the field. I probably go with Mathews because he has such upside. Think he ends the season on a high (let's hope there are no more injuries).
Justin (New Orleans)
Any reason to doubt Gronk this week?
Stephania Bell (11:50 AM)
Justin: Don't think so. Just getting some early week rest.
Hi Stehpania- any updates on Stephen Hill's injury? Was thinking of picking him up now that Holmes is out for the year.
Stephania Bell (11:52 AM)
Mike: Still dealing with a hamstring injury. Did not practice Thursday (the only day we have a report from this week since they play Monday night). Not sure it's this week but we certainly expect him back.
Anything to note of with LeSean McCoy's knee? Is Bryce Brown a serious consideration at this point?
Stephania Bell (11:52 AM)
Cedric: No. And no.
Any update on Amendola?
Stephania Bell (11:54 AM)
Steven: Said this at the top but no definitive word from the Rams yet. They were waiting on additional tests. We'll likely hear more this afternoon.
Terrible choice here for flex, Spiller against your amazing SF running D, or Garcon against a softer ATL pass D?
Stephania Bell (11:56 AM)
Trent: I go with Garcon. He's not 100 percent but I expect him to see more targets this week. Better chance of putting some points up, I think.
I am thinking about using Christian Ponder this week as a bye-week replacement. Any concerns about his knee/hip?
Stephania Bell (11:56 AM)
Steve: Vikings don't seem overly concerned.
Stephania Bell (11:58 AM)
I need to exit the room a wee bit early today as I'm jumping on the radio. Apperciate you all joining today. Blog will post tomorrow with latest injury news...Good luck in Week Five!
